Installing Onenote 2013 while using Office 2010 Pro.

Is it possible to install Onenote2013 while using Microsoft Office 2010?

It probably is generally not recommended to mix application versions but this thread indicates it does work with Office 2010 and OneNote 2013.

  • Error Code 30088-4 Installing OneNote 2013 with Office Pro 2007

Hi, I have been through most of the forums and have not found something related directly to this, but if it has been covered please direct me to the correct thread. I am installing OneNote 2013 on a computer running Windows 7 and Office Professional 2007.
I am running the installation as an administrator; however, each time I click the installer I get an error message stating there has been an issue and it gives me error code 30088-4. I have attempted the process of going to Control Panel > Programs and
Features, clicking on Office 2007, and selecting Change; however, no further windows will open once I click change so I am unable to click "Repair." I also went into Regedit and changed the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office entry to use Office.old and re-attempted the installation, receiving the same error. I have not yet attempted uninstalling and reinstalling Office yet, and wanted to see if there were any other
fixes before I go that route.
    Thanks,
    Teddee

    Hi,

  • How to migrate Office 2010 Pro application most recently opened document (MRU) to Office 2013 applications

I am upgrading from Office 2010 Pro to Office 2013 Pro. In my test, we discovered that the MRUs are not getting migrated over from the Office 2010 Pro applications into the Office 2013 Pro applications.   I am using the Microsoft
Office 2013 OCT to do the configurations.  In the OCT, I have "migrate user settings" checked, but that did not work for the users MRUs.  I came across the following link
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/67b3622f-5b7c-4c57-b71d-c8c7de6f7da9/office-2010-pro-to-2013-not-migrating-settings-and-recent-history?forum=officeitpro
That suggests manually creating the Migration key with sub keys like below
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Migration\Word]
    "UpgradeVersion"=dword:0000000d
    "Lang"=dword:00000409
On the test machine that I was using and had installed Microsoft Office 2013 Pro on, I found the keys listed as follows
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Migration\Word]
    "UpgradeVersion"=dword:0000000e
    "Lang"=dword:00000000
    1) I would like to know which is correct subkey ("UpgradeVersion" and "Lang") to use?
    2) Since I am using the OCT, can I add or import them into the OCT add registry entries section?
    Thanks for your help.

Since you are doing an uninstall-upgrade the MRU list will not migrate by default.
"UpgradeVersion"=dword:0000000d means Office 14.0, also known as Office 2010
"UpgradeVersion"=dword:0000000e means Office 15.0, also known as Office 2013
"Lang"=dword:00000409 means Locale ID = English_United_States, and the "Lang"=dword:00000000 means default.
In this case, you plan to migrate Office 2010 to 2013. thus, the correct one is
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Migration\Word]
    "UpgradeVersion"=dword:0000000e
"Lang"=dword:00000409 (00000000 is ok as well)
Yes, you may import them into OCT registry entries section, or you may deploy these registry keys before migration.

  • "An Office 2003 installation on your computer is corrupted and setup cannot continue" error on Office 2010 Pro install

I am currently trying to install Office 2010 Pro Plus onto my machine that has Access 97 and Access 2003, Visio 2003, Excel 2003, PowerPoint 2003, and Word 2003 installed. I need to keep the previous versions of Office installed as they are used for development
work. When I try installing Office 2010 I've stopped with the following error message: "An Office installation on your computer is corrupted and setup cannot continue. Remove or repair the Office 2003 product and re-run setup." I can't remove and
repair doesn't seem to do anything. Most posts suggest removing previous office versions or deleting/altering the MS Office registry keys (which would damage the previous versions of Office). Is there a solution to install Office 2010 independently of any
    other version of Office installed?

I figured out a method to finally install Office 2010 bypassing the error stated in the title, by manually removing all the keys that included the term "Office 2003" from the Windows registry.
I share my fix with more details and pictures step by step here :
    Link
Please note that you need to be very careful when manually editing the Windows registry as it may cause problems to your operating system and even cause a massive failure requiring you to re-format your disk.
Feel free to use my fix at your own risk. I will not be held responsible for any damage caused or data loss.

  • Upgrade Office 2010 Standard to Office 2010 Pro Plus using Config.xml

    Hello,
I am upgrading Office 2010 Standard to Office 2010 Pro Plus. But after using the below config  pro plus did get installed but both versions of Office 2010 ( Stand and Plus ) show up on the machines. I want only Office Pro plus to appear.
The second issue is that even after uninstalling  Office 2010 Standard from the Control panel the Office shows activation of both ( Going to --File ---Help)
How can I edit this config.xml to remove office 2010 Standard first and then upgrade to Office 2010 Pro Plus?

    Hi,
Here is not a Config.xml solution, but we can use it as a workaround, basically automate the uninstallation of Office 2010, reboot the computer and then deploy Office 2010. You may find the following article useful if you need more info on that.

  • Compatibility: Project 2013 Pro and Office 2010 Pro Plus

Beyond an obvious recommendation to upgrade Office (which cannot happen in this instance), is the shared code base between Office and Project the same or close enough to avoid performance or functionality issues that would not be experience if Office 2010
Pro Plus and Project 2010 Pro?

    Hello,
For Project Server 2013 you will need Project Pro 2013 but the rest of Office can be 2010.

  • OneDrive for Business sync app when using Office 2010

    Hi,
My clients use Office 2010. They all have SharePoint Workspace installed as well, thought, they don't use it.
As part of new SharePoint 2013 on-premise roll-out, I have to find a method to silently install OneDrive for Business into clients machines, without disruption to the use of Office 2010. They will use OneDrive for business to sync their team sites libraries
    and their personal site library.
So far, I have no success.
    What I tried:
-Standalone OneDrive Pro client exe Setup.x86.en-us_GrooveRetail_3V9N8-W93CC-FQPB8-Y9WVF-TVGJ3_TX_PR_.exe
It seems there is no way to run it silently anyway. Is there?
basically, this package still connects to the internet to download modules and it prompts user for some interaction while installing. I NEED IT SILENT.
-Building OCT package out of Office 2013 installation media. I selected to only install Groove(OneDrive) and leave existing Office product intact. Then I run it from setup.exe /adminfile //location/onlygroove.MSP
It provisions SkyDrive Pro client (note the name, I used Office 2013 without SP1 media)
    Problems with that:
1.After installing Office 2013 SP1, client name is still SkyDrive Pro 2013, but sync folder actually changed, some other user interface places are also updated
2.After silent run, Office 2010 experience problems: Outlook 2010 crushes on start 3 times, then it attempts to run repair, Repair will fix outlook, but it also sets SharePoint workspace as a default client for sync. Running Office 2013 repair will break
Outlook again. The solution is to uninstall SharePoint workspace, then run Office 2013 repair, then Office 2010 repair again - this way I have SkyDrive Pro as a sync app and Outlook 2010 working.
As you see, I have problems with having seamless silent OneDrive for Business sync app installation. Even asking clients to install it manually would be too hard for them. Annoying thing is that if you click the exe file to run, it takes about 2 minutes
before user sees anything happening on a screen. I can see users getting confused if they actually initiated a process of not!
    What am I missing ?
Any other way to provision it in bulk to my users? Any help appreciated.

I think we're all waiting on Microsoft to (quickly) address this. Its unacceptable.
It is seriously unacceptable, and I am having the same problems. Even running tests locally and I am a domain admin, I come across admin permission errors. I have tried amending the config file and creating a new one (onedrive_download.xml), creating a new
folder as a temp test and running the OneDrive for Business pack (extracted). These are the errors I get (on my own admin PC).

    thanks

what does the client side need. Do they need a kms key? how do I check
on the KMSclient, and/or on the KMShost, to check, you can use:
    cscript slmgr.vbs /dli all > c:\kmsout.txt
(this will output all possible Windows and Office licenses to the output file, and shows the status of each)
When you install Windows or Office by using VL media, by default these are pre-configured with KMSclient product key.
In case the machine may have been reconfigured with a different product key, and you find that you need to reconfigure back to a KMSclient product key, the Office KMSclient product keys are here:

  • Does Visio 2013 work with Office 2010?

Does Visio 2013 work with Office 2010?

    Tuesday 01/06/2015
Take a look at this Microsoft KB
    KB2784668
It has one reference to Visio and the support / install order of Office.
Now with that said, regardless of 2010 vs. 2013, you can NOT mix 32-bit or 64-bit versions of Office.
For example, lets say I installed Office 2010 SP2 64-bit
(FYI... How to determine Office 2010 SP file version
    KB2121559)
I then want to install Visio 2013 32-bit, the install will not work.
You cant mix 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Office Products.
    TechNet article explains more...TechNet
(FYI...A few more people are asking the same question...)
    Forum 1
    Forum 2
(How to determine which version 32-bit or 64-bit version of Office is installed
    Stackoverflow.com)
Above article is dependent on Full Office being installed...  You can also query the DisplayName REG_SZ key as well, it will report back the Office version.
    Registry Location:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
Look for the Office GUID in my example for 2010 64-bit SP2....
Now with the above said, below are notes from one of our desktop support techs in regards to issues we have seen internally running Office 2010 32-bit SP1 and SP2 on Win 7 x64 Enterprise with Visio 2013.....
Office interops. The ability for office and other applications to communicate with other office apps.
The first instance today: User sends corporate communications from word using the send to mail recipient feature. After visio 2013 installed, he received a message stating that word could not communicate with outlook, to either repair office or check the
server. Office was repaired, new outlook profile created. After research, discovered the office is sensitive to various versions in regards to interops. Discovered that Visio 2013 was installed around the time user experienced issues. After uninstalling visio,
when launching word it began to configure (like for a first time install), the send mail to recipient feature began working. This probably will affect anyone with visio 2013. Visio 2010 was not reinstalled afterwards, as user barely uses it and was hesitant.
Installation files are still on his machine in the event that he does need it reinstalled. Office version is 14.0.7109.5000 User is on Office 2010 SP2
The second instance today: Teammate stopped working 3 weeks ago according to user. After working through several support groups here and working with the vendor support, the vendor noted that some dll’s from the application were not registered. If that didn’t
fix it they suggested a reimage. After registering the dll’s, issue persisted. After further troubleshooting, determine that the feature that did not work for user consisted of teammate downloading information from a system, parsing it, then outputting it
to a word document. The application provided no error of any sort, it just would never get to the word document portion. Discovered that Visio 2013 was installed around the time that the issue occurred, and that the issue appeared to be related to office interops.
I uninstalled Visio 2013 and it began working as designed. In both cases Visio 2013 had been installed on 11/25/2014 (I didn’t see any corporate communication about an upgrade, but maybe one took place?). Office version is 14.0.7109.5000 User is on Office
    2010 SP2
I’m not sure if you have much experience with interops, but pretty much anytime you want to communicate with a different office application, that is how it is done. Per my reading through various Microsoft KB’s and support forums, different version interops
do not play well together always. It appears that these applications are trying to communicate to office 2010 (v 14) using 2013 (v15) interops, only after installing visio 2013 professional. Users were both Windows 7 x64. We also had a group of several users
who also ran into issues with sharepoint not working in any browser, turned out the problem was Visio 2013 was well....
Feel free to research more, but my own research comes down with having both 2010 and 2013 interops on the machine. To simplify it, the applications and office apps are being told to communicate using office 2013, and but only listen in 2010, causing problems.
Its not causing problems with every simple interop, or we would see it far more widespread, but we are going to continue to see the “ghost” issues where Visio 2013 is the root cause, but nothing is really going to scream it.

  • Is it supported to connect Exchange 2013 Mailbox using Exchange 2010 CAS in Co-existence?

    Hi Team,
I am in the phase of upgrading Exchange 2010 to 2013, and introduced 4 MBX and 2 CAS of 2013 servers in co-existence.
Only one production mailbox of 2010 moved to 2013. The owa of the mailbox moved to 2013, is working OK internally coz only internally configured, but when I configure outlook using 2010 settings, it got configured but when I open outlook it doesn't
open and throws an error of some "cannot open set of folders".
Is it supported to connect Exchange 2013 Mailbox using Exchange 2010 CAS in Co-existence? because I havnt configured 2013 CAS servers yet.
Kindly share some KB or tip. Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

I'll change Adam's wording slightly - you *MUST* install a CAS 13 server into every site where there is a MBX 13 server.

  • Is CS3 Design Standard compatible with Windows 7 64-bits and MS Office 2010 Pro Plus?

    Hi,
I have been googling around to see if Adobe CS3 Design Standard is compatible with Windows 7 64-bits with MS Office 2010 Pro Plus, but I couldn't find a decent answer.
If anyone here has any idea on this, please let me know.
As far as i know Adobe CS3 comes with Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro which is not compatible with MS Office 2010, so I am sort of worried that I will need to upgrade my CS3 to CS6.
    Any advises are welcome.
    Thanks.

I don't know if Acrobat 8 is Win 7 64 bit compatible or if it's supported. The rest of the apps should be fine.
But I do think you'll have issues with Office 2010 files being placed into InDesign.
Moving to CS6 is something you should be thinking about very soon. You only get upgrade pricing until the end of the year, but I highly recommend taking a look at Creative Cloud. At $29.99/month for the first year it's a bargain.
