Installing oracle 10.1 on mac osx 10.4 instructions?

I did not see an install guide in the 10.1 docs for installing oracle on a mac and I could not find instructions on the web. Has anyone done this install before? normally in a unix environment you have to create an oracle user, etc... and set kernel parameters.

The only version of Oracle ever certified by Apple was 10.1.0.3 and then only against Panther 10.3.6 which likely you can not get.
If you are not happy then send a letter to Apple. Oracle bent over backward multiple times trying to get Apple to handle its operating system release nonsense so as to support an enterprise database and Steve Jobs wasn't interested enough.
My team built numerous stand-alone and RAC clusters on OSX. But we won't touch it again unless, and until, Steve Jobs personally stands up and puts his reputation behind it.

  • I just installed the new firefox for Mac OSX 10.6.8 and when I select an image on a site (right click and copy) and paste in Photoshop 5.5, the image lightens. It does not do this in Safari.

    Question
I just installed the new firefox for Mac OSX 10.6.8 and when I select an image on a site (right click and copy) and paste in Photoshop 5.5, the image lightens. It does not do this in Safari.

Firefox, Safari, and PhotoShop each handle embedded color profiles differently. For an add-on that makes it easier to experiment with Firefox's color management options, you might be interested in: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/color-management/ Color Management :: Add-ons for Firefox]. I haven't tried it myself.

You'll have to upgrade your operating system first.
Most, if not all, Cloud apps require at least OS X 10.7.

  • I installed Adobe Reader to my Mac OSX 10.8... website I need it for says no.

I installed Adobe Reader to my Mac osx 10.8. It installed, I clicked "FINISHED".  When I go back to the education website that I needed it for it tells me I need to agree to the Adobe licsencing agreement and reopen the browser. How do I agree to the licsensing agreement?? It never came up for me to do that. I tried to re-install but it just tells me I already have it installed.
    Thanks

You need to open Adobe Reader by itself (not in the browser), then accept the EULA.

I have downloaded the Oracle Companion CD and I am trying to install it on my Mac but I am having

  • How to install windows support software without mac OSX install cd?

I want to install windows 7 on my macbook pro 10.6.8 via bootcamp. I have a windows 7 install cd and I havn't got past the stage of installing the windows support software. I lost my mac osx install cd a long time ago so I can't install the software that way, but if i try and download the support software from bootcamp, I keep getting a notification that the windows support software is unavailable. What should I do?

Call Apple for replacement disks.  The Boot Camp drivers for OSX 10.6 and earlier were not available as a download.  Or upgrade to Lion, which you do download the Boot Camp 4 drivers.

  • Minecraft Won't Launch Because of a Java or Root Certificate Error I Started Having When I Put The Install Disk in And Downloaded Mac OSX Snow Leopard

I need help. I recently tried opening Minecraft after re-installing Mac OSX Snow Leopard with the Mac OSX Install DvD and now every time I try to open the internet these stupid certificate errors come up and Minecraft says it can't launch because of a broken/missing root certificate

    Hello Shelby,
Thank you so much for the details regarding the issue you are experiencing with the Snow Leopard installation.  I recommend following these steps if you are having trouble installing Snow Leopard:
    The installation wasn’t successful
If you were unable to install Mac OS X, try the following:
Disconnect any external devices you don’t need during installation.
Remove any cards from manufacturers other than Apple.
Try installing Mac OS X again.
If you were unable to install Mac OS X again, choose Utilities > Disk Utility. Select the disk on which you want to install, click First Aid, and then click Repair Disk. After repairing any problems, quit Disk Utility and then click Continue to try installing again.
If you’re still unable to install Mac OS X, try erasing the disk before installing Mac OS X. Before you erase your disk, try copying your files to an external disk. When you’re ready to erase and reinstall Mac OS X, follow the instructions in the “Restoring your computer to factory settings” section of this document.
I found this on page 7 of the Snow Leopard Installation Instructions:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Will there ever be an Oracle Express Edition for Mac OSX

I am curious if Oracle Express Edition will ever be ported for developers who use Mac computers?

This is about the same question as the famous question 'How many divisions has the Pope', asked by Stalin.
This is mainly an issue of marketshare.
I don't think Oracle will be very much interested in porting OracleXE to Mac OSX.
    But I might be wrong.

Firefox tells me there is an update. I click install, but it just sticks at the downloading screen (for hours if I let it) and cannot download. This has been happening ever since I changed to Mac OSX Lion on the new MacBook Air.

  • Will Adobe Illustrator 10 install and run on the Mac OSX Snow Leopard system?

    Hello,
I am trying to find out if Adobe Illustrator version 10 will install and run  on the Mac Snow Leopard system.  Will it?
Also,  Will Adobe Photoshop 7 (last photoshop version before Adobe CS) run on the Mac Snow Leopard system?
I know that many older versions of Adobe software for Mac will not work on OSX because of a change in the CPU designs.
    Thank you.

I don't think so. Both of them should not work on MAC Snow Leapord.

  • Install extensions all users silently - Mac OsX

    Hello,
In our organization we need to customize Firefox the same way for every single user meaning that from time to time it's needed to add one or more extras for everyone. Every time we need to do this we have to install individually the extra in every user.
What i need is a way to silently deploy the xpi file. The OS from the computers is Mac OsX Yosemite and the firefox version is 36.0.1 (we need to stick to this version).
    Thanks in advance,
    Gonçalo Catarino

    Hey there!
I'm not sure if you are aware, but mozilla makes a version of Firefox just for deploying in enterprises and organizations. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/
I'd suggest checking it out. Also, there is a very helpful mailing list that can assist you with deployment questions.
