Installing Oracle 10.2.0.1 and upgrade to 10.2.0.3 on WIndows 2000 using VM

What's up with trying to install Oracle 10.2.0.1 database standard edition on a Windows 2000 OS which utilizes VMWARE? This has been the install from hell !!
I just did the whole process on my Windows XP laptop in about 1 hour and the VMWARE Windows 2000 install/upgrade is on its third day and we have not even migrated the data yet.
Has anyone done such an upgrade on the same Windows 2000 OS using VMWARE? The server configuration sucks as well with only one CPU, small processor and and little over 1 gb of memory but this is what VMWARE is allocating I assume. The customer also wants all his database files on the SAN. Should I tell the management they need more resources or is this upgrade possible????

Not if it isn't required to create a secure and stable environment.
What I am referring to is an operating system that doesn't require an anti-virus client.
And operating system that doesn't force you to support a massive GUI that no one will ever look at after installation is completed.
An operating system that doesn't have a vendor that admits to violating compliance and altering system files without the owner's permission.

Can I install oracle VM server with lvm and md raid?

I am trying to install oracle vm server 2.1.2 on a server with md raid and I would like to use lvm on it. It seems to me that the installer md raid support is not working and lvm support is missing.

hm - if the install does let you create a raid ( mdraid ) -> you can try to setup the system preconfigured by anaconda...
the lines would be like following:
part swap size 8000 asprimary --ondisk cciss/c0d0
part swap size 8000 asprimary --ondisk cciss/c0d1
part /boot fstype ext3 size 200 asprimary ondisk cciss/c0d0
part / fstype ext3 size 14750 asprimary ondisk cciss/c0d0

-> -> modify the part lines and setup a anaconda installer...
( would also a better idea - if you like to install standarized systems )

Hi Aamir,
Shutdown the database all the servers. Start the configuration wizard again(SOAORACLE_HOME/common/bin/config.sh) and select BPM and finish it. (SOA and BPM share the same schemas)
Start the servers. Now you can see that BPM is configured with your soa server.
To check whether everything is fine, login to AdminConsole , goto Deployments and check whether oracle.bpm.runtime(11.1.1,11.1.1) is shown as "Active"

I have Windows 2008 R2 64 Bit Operating Server Installed.
Other software that are Installed :
1) Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate 32 Bit.
2) Microsoft SharePoint server 2010 64 Bit.
For my development purpose I want to install both oracle 11g client 32 bit and oracle 11g client 64 on the same machine.
Is it possible to install both 32 and 64 bit instance on the same machine.

Problem in installing Oracle database 10.2.01 and SOA suite

I have the following two problems.
I get a windows error saying "oui.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvinience" whenever i try to install Oracle database 10.2.01.(problem 1)
However, i used the Oracle database from other system and installed SOA suite on my system. It was working fine until recently when it failed to start. I had only one option i.e. to deninstall the SOA suite.(i used the oracle deinstaller to deinstall the SOA suite) . When i tried to reinstall it again, i got a warning saying "DHCP configuration was detected on this host. The installer also detected that the local host name and the network hostname differ". When i ignored this warning and continued the installation, the set up falied to detect the Oracle database which i had used earlier(problem 2). Do I need to clear any logs or do i have any way to sort out these two problems. Please help. ?:|

Upgraded to Yosemite - can't connect to windows Server using afp

I have upgraded to Yosemite from 10.6.8 Snow Leopard and now cannot connect to a windows merit used to connect to before. I previously used the afp protocol.
I get the message "The version server you are trying to connect to is not supported".
Is afp still supported with yosemite?
Do i need them to upgrade the server software?
It connects using smb, but does not display the same folders.

I am providing mac support for a group of mac users who make up the art department in a larger multinational company. As is often usual in these situations the larger PC IT department are incredibly unhelpful.
But I have just come online and had no part in the set up. The servers are overseas and managed by them. I have no idea why the used afp as the protocol. I just know it has worked this way for years.
The macs need to upgrade to go on to creative cloud.
I think he way forward is for them to change the access on the server to allow access using smb.
It is just difficult to deal with them because they aren't here tend to say "we dont support macs" when I contact them.

i already found out the hard way that you need win xp sp2 or greater to install (i tried win xp without sp2 and it wiped out my hd)

Windows 2000 is not supported to be installed on Mac with BootCamp.
Simply said, it is too old and lacks some neede features for a succesfull install.
You can however use your pre-SP2 Xp and this instructions http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxpsp2slipstream.asp to make yourself a XP SP2 install CD.
Or if you really need Windows 200 to run, have a look at the virtualization apps like Parallels, VMWare Fusion or VirtualBox.
VirtualBox is the only free app of these, the other two cost some cash.

I want to install the latest version of OEM 10.2.0.3 on Linux RedHat 4. However, after downloading the OEM 10.2.0.3 and reading the release note, I realized that the download is just the 10.2.0.3 upgrade patchset. I have to do a fresh base installation of OEM 10.2.0.1 first. Is this correct?
After installing OEM 10.2.0.1 with an existing 10.2.0.1 database, I need to upgrade OEM 10.2.0.1 to OEM 10.2.0.3 using the patchset I downloaded. Because both OMS and AGENT will be upgraded, I am not sure what installation destination I shoud supply? OMS_HOME, or AGENT_HOME, or just a new home for upgrade? What are the required steps to upgrade OEM 10.2.0.1 to OEM 10.2.0.3?
Are there any documentation or articles that I can follow to do the upgrade?

Hi!
When you start upgrading your products, you are asked for the "Installation name".
Imagine that the installation of the entire product is divided into 3 parts:
a) Database: db10g (the Installation Name)
b) OMS: oms10g
c) Agent: agent10g
Then, to choose the perfect directory to upgrade the product, you must choose the installation name from the menu. If you select agent10, the final path is going to coincide with the original.
Do this for the OMS and the OMR.

Installing Oracle HTTP Server after installation and configuration.

I am using EPM 11.1.2.2 and I have installed Essbase, FR, EAS and EIS but not Oracle HTTP server component.
Is it possible to install it after completion of deployment of whole Hyperion components?
If I install only HTTP component of foundation service and reconfigure Web server will that work without an issue?
Or do I need to reinstall all components?
And, as in EPM 11.1.2.2 for installing Essbase only, Oracle HTTP server is not mandatory, can I skip that component?
Will that make any impact in future?

You can install OHS after you have completed the configuration, install, then configure web server and select OHS.
It is up to you whether you install and use OHS as the web server, it is not mandatory. If you are using workspace then you will need to configure one of the available web servers.

LIghtroom CC is a separate app included with the Creative Cloud subscription. LR5 can co-exist with it or you can uninstall it.

I am from Cisco ACS team. In ACS, we are exporting database-sybase version 12 to remote database which is oracle 10g.
During the export , it is getting failed for one of table with below exception.
--- Cause: java.sql.SQLException: [Sybase][JDBC Driver][SQL Anywhere]Cannot convert 'task_id=1040, priv-lvl=249, addr=1...' to a numeric
This column datatype in sybase defined as long varchar and in remote database schema oracle 10g defined as clob.

So we tried installing 10.2.0.5 version over oracle database 10g Express Edition Release 10.2.0.1.0 -Beta.
Platform used: windows server2003 Standard x64 Edition Service pack2.
We have received a patch from oracle support team through the case " SR #3-10550770831 : 02, Download 10.2.0.5 Oracle Express patch for Windows x64"
When we try install C15101-01 ZIP file, "Error writing to the temporary location" thrown and not able to proceed. We have checked disk space and temp location including environment variable. But we will not be able to resolve the issue.
Could you please do the needful on this?

PDF writer and distiller do not appear as available in windows 7 using Acrobat 5

Trying to install my Acrobat 5 with Windows 7. The pdf writer and distiller appear to instal after satisfying the syetm requirement for a postscript driver. The software then installs fully but the pdf writer and distiller do not show up under printers. There is a warning that a compatibility issue exists, how can this be fixed please?

Acrobat 5 is not supported on Windows 7. You need to upgrade. Sorry about that.
