    Hi,
    based on 169706.1 (Modified: 06-MAY-2009) 10.2.0.4 and 11.1 are so far supported on AIX 6.1. Therefore when you install 10.2.0.1 this error is raised because at that time when Oracle 10g R2 was released AIX 6.1 was not available. You should however be able to install the software unsing:
    ./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqsInstall first only the software 10.2.0.1. Then patch it to 10.2.0.4 and afterwards run:
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbcaCheers,

    Might be a little late for you but maybe for others. If the installer hangs on your exact point you don't have X11 redirection enabled.
    I wrote some interesting articles about it:

  • Install Ora 10g on AIX P5 server

    Hi Dear Friends,
    I am installing Oracle 10g on AIX P5 server, which has previously Oracle 9i
    installed using oracle user. I want to use another user oracle2 for the 10g
    with different oracle home dir, so I wont mess up the 9i.
    The docs in 10g recommended that the the install group is "oinstall"
    but the previous installed 9i has the following entry in the /etc/oraInst.loc :
    inventory_loc=/u01/app/oracle/oraInventory
    inst_group=dba
    Do I need to overwrite this entry for my 10g?
    Thanks a lot

    The docs in 10g recommended that the the install
    group is "oinstall"
    but the previous installed 9i has the following entry
    in the /etc/oraInst.loc :
    inventory_loc=/u01/app/oracle/oraInventory
    inst_group=dbaIn this case, the oraInventory group is your "dba" group. (I.e. the names in the Install guides are just placeholders and examples, you should choose the actual names for Oracle user, OSDBA group etc.)
    Since choices made will affect the installation, I would suggest that you read pre-install tasks section 2.5 and continue further in the suggested Administrator's Reference for UNIX and the Admin's Guide(e.g. os accounts and groups, os authentication for db admins). By separating functions to different OINSTALL/oraInventory and OSDBA groups, you make it possible to assign different OSDBA groups (for sysdba privilege) to Homes (and associated databases). This will also separate oraInventory group rights from the dba users.
    >
    Do I need to overwrite this entry for my 10g?Not if you want to keep the 9i stuff.
    Make sure your backup routine includes copying the oraInventory directory and files, before you install anything new.

  • Error while installing Oracle 10G on Oracle Enterprise Linux 4.8 32 bit

    Our machine is a x86_64 machine with 32 GB of RAM available. I have installed OEL 4.8 32 bit on this machine (configured swap space of 32 GB) and OEL by default boots with the Hugemem kernel.
    I am trying to install Oracle 10G enterprise edition on this. All required kernel parameters, shell limits etc. have been verified and configured. The preinstallation checks succeed on all the tests and installation proceeds smoothly. However in the last step of configuring the database using dbca following two errors are thrown:
    1. ORA-27102 - out of memory
    2. ORA-01034 - ORACLE not found
    Most places where I am reading are telling to configure kernel parameters. However that doesn't seem to be the problem in this case.
    Please Help.

    Hi;
    What is exact db version? What installation log says?
    Please see and confirm you have all pre-req settings

  • Prerequisites for installing OBIEE 10g in AIX

    Hi
    I need the prerequisites for installing OBIEE 10g in AIX.

    Scripts? Oracle installation has intuitive GUI installation. You just need to do some required action before launch of installation. These steps you can find on official documentation http://tahiti.oracle.com or some public papers.
    Anyway there was installation script that prepared the system for Oracle install. It was called DORIS (made by Howard J. Rogers) but AFAIK it is not downloadable anymore.

    Hi,
    why don't you read simply the installation guide, available here on OTN under documentation? Oracle does not hide such information. Start with quick installation guide, if you need more detailed informations read the regular installation guide.

    Hi
    Here's the resolution that can work for you:
    Disable the "Print Spooler" service before running the installer.
    1.Open Control Panel: Start --> Settings --> Control Panel
    2.Double-click "Services"
    3.On the list of NT Services, right-click "Print Spooler"
    4.Select "Stop"
    5.Select "Properties"
    6.Under Startup Type, select "manual" or "disabled"
    7.Reboot your NT Server
    8.After rebooting, verify that the Print Spooler is still "stopped".
    9.Delete Program Files\Common Files\Installshield\Engine folder
    10.Re-run the installer.
    11.After installation, re-set the Print Spooler service to Startup type "Automatic" and start the service.
    Also, have a look at the installshield page: http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108167

  • Error message when installing Oracle 10g on Windows XP Professional

    Hello,
    I need help installing oracle 10g database. When I attempt to run the installation from the setup.exe icon, I get a message that says
    "Error in writing to directory C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\OraInstall2007-04-29_01-19-29PM. Please ensure this directory is writable and has atleast 45Mb of disk space. Installation cannot continue."
    When I try to open the installation from the Autorun icon, it points to an innability to find setup.exe and when I go back to Setup.exe, it gives me the above error. Everytime I try to run the installation and it fails, the installation leaves a folder in my Temp folder with the above format. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    I do have administrative privilege on my computer and I have plenty of space. I have 80gb of free space. What do I do to successfully install the software without incurring those messages I displayed in my first thread?

  • Repeated ORA-12547 Messages after installing Oracle 10g

    Hi,
    I installed Oracle 10g on a Redhat ES 3 box, and the install went okay, but when I try and interact with the server I get the message:
    ORA-12547: TNS: lost contact
    For example, if I use the Database Configuration Assistant to attempt to create a database, I will see the above message when it begins the database creation process, or if I try to interact with the Oracle server using sqlplus I will see the above message after each command entered.
    I had recently tried to install Oracle 8.1.7 on the same box, but abandoned that after deciding that the effort required to link Oracle 8 on RHES3 just wasn't worth it. I have been told that this previous partial installation may be the cause of the problem, and have been advised to uninstall Oracle 8, uninstall Oracle 10g, and reinstall Oracle 10g. I find it hard to believe that it would require such an action to solve this problem. Is there any configuration changes I can make to resolve it? Also, what does this message actually mean?
    I am new to Oracle, so thanks for any help with this problem.
    Colm.

    My last message asking for a grater degree of specificity was not overly specific, hence I am posting the kernel parms that I have set with the hopes that you will spot one that I set improperly or one that I neglected to set.

  • How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster

    Dear all:
    please advice How can i install oracle 10g on linux cluster service ..
    thanks ,,

    Without RAC, you can only have one instance manage the database. One instance = one set of processes communicating via IPC.
    Unless you know of a way to have processes use memory-based IPC across nodes, you need to pick a node and install & run the database software on that node.
