SAJEEV GEORGEYou need to have the following packages installed already before starting Oracle installation
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15669/pre_install.htm#sthref80
    binutils-2.15.92.0.2-10.EL4

    pdksh-5.2.14-30
    sysstat-5.0.5-1

And from the following link, you can get the same list:
http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle10g.shtml (Go to Checking Software Packages (RPMs))
And from my installation guide you can easily install Oracle on Linux by following step by step instruction

  • Can you install Oracle 10g on REDHAT LINUX ENTERPRISE WS?

According to oracle documentation, it says you can install oracle10g on Redhat enterprise version 3 or 4, but it doesn't specify whether its Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS or WS. Can you install oracle 10g on Rehat Linux Enterprise WS?

Oracle Certificaction Matrices says only RedHat AS/ES is supported for database. AFAIK WS means workstation.
Also this link is very clear: http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_61_1135.shtm
Besides the above sentences... If the WS installation is providing all required packages (listed in installtion prerequisites) I belive that Oracle DB could be installed on WS but as I (and the above link) said it is not officialy supported.

It looks like you will have to uninstall "libaio1", but I don't know for sure and don't have Ubuntu 10.4 available right now to play with.
Sorry but the instructions are for Ubuntu 10.10, not 10.4, which is different.
If you need to install XE on Ubuntu, I'd rather suggest 11gR2 XE:

In this case it says "However the primary interface on the system should be configured with a static IP address", so I would probably take that action.
As far as I know there is no Distro called 'Linux4'. Once you identify the distro properly, you might get an explanation of the basic steps to do network admin on the box. If that distro is some variant on Red Hat, you could use the CentOS docs at http://centos.org/docs/4/ , in particular Section IV.

  • Problem with installing Oracle 10g on Suse Linux

    Hi everybody!
I downloaded Oracle 10g Express from this url:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/htdocs/102xelinsoft.html
it is free version for developers.
I copied it into computer where was installed Suse Linux Enterprise Edition.
But when I run it shows this kind of error:
error: rpmReadSignature failed: region failed: BAD, tag 15872 type 2047 offset 20480 count 4096
    error: oracle-xe-univ-10.2.0.1-1.i386.rpm cannot be installed
It was downloaded without any problem. But checksum is different from that shown on website. I think this is the problem.
What is the problem? Does anybody know answer?
    Regards,
    Seti's fiction

Yes, you appear to have a bad copy.
I have not had a problem when the check sum matched. Therefore I encourage you to download again.

  • Install oracle 9i rac access from both node problem

    Hai,
Recently we have planned to move oracle 9i rac databases to new servers. Our current configuration is oracle 9i rac (9.2.0.4) and aix 5.3 with hacmp 5.4
mksysb backup has been taken from old machine and restored in the new machine. For oracle binarys, tar have been done and restored in the new machine.
Now after restoring the database, i am able to mount and open from the one server at a time. If i try to mount the database from second machine it is hanging. Kindly help us to solve the problem.
