Installing Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 on Windows 7 Enterprise Edition 64bit

My workstation is running on Windows 7 Enterprise Edition with 64 Bit & 4 GB RAM
On installing of of Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 it throws errors below;
Physical Memory - This is a prerequisite condition to test whether the system has at least 922MB (944128.0KB) of total physical memory.
Expected Value      : n/a
Actual Value      : n/a
List of errors:
-      PRVF-7531 : Physical memory check cannot be performed on node "My_Workstation"
- Cause: Could not perform check of physical memory on the node indicated.
- Action: Ensure ability to access the node specified and view memory information.
Any help much appreciated.

The following steps usually worked for me when installing on Windows:
1) Copy installation to a staging area.
2) Turn off Norton or whatever security software you have.
3) Right click install and run install as administrator.
Please remember to turn back on your security software.

  • How to install Oracle 9i (9.2.0.2) in Windows Server 2003 x64 - Intel Xeon

I have tried to install Oracle 9i (9.2.0.2) in Windows Server 2003 x64 Enterprise Edition with Intel Xeon (EM64T) processors.
When I run setup.exe I get an error: "The image file C:\Documents and settings\administrator.SERVERNAME\my documents\92021 win64_disk1\setup.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine".
I have to install Oracle 9i in that server but I can't run the installation. Is there a way to solve this problem, is there a patch that can solve this? Anyone know something about this problem?
    Thanks a lot!!!
    I'm desperated!!

    Hi,
    reply to my own question:
In the docs provided with the downloads for Oracle Database Server 9i x64, I found that this version requires either
    - Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition for 64-Bit Itanium 2 Systems
    or
    - Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition for 64-Bit Itanium 2 Systems
So I guess, the only X64 platform being supported under Windows Server 2003 (both Datacenter / Enterprise Editions) is Itanium CPUs ...
... though this is not (!!!) clearly stated in the download link (other/newer versions are listed more precisely - I guess it's a matter of an old link: no Intel Xeon / AMD Opterons were available (???) when Oracle 9i database server was published).
So I'll give it a try with 10g database server ;-)))

    Hi,
1)As per certification matrix Forms and Reports 11.1.1.7.0 is supported on Windows 2012.
So in order to install Forms and Reports you need to first install the Forms and Reports software binaries then need to run the config.sh command from %ORACLE_HOME%/bin.
No need to create any domain using the config.sh from Weblogic home.
2)Please see if the below prerequisites were met :-
. Assign Proper ip, hostname & domain name
. Entry of ip, host name & domain name in etc/hosts file
      . Disable anti-virus if any
      . Disable ipv6, a
. Disable Windows Firewall, Windows Update & Windows Management Instrumentation at Service level (services.msc)
. Create 2 folder "tmp" & "Java" for temp, jdk & jre installation. And set the path of installed jdk in Environment Variable

  • Anyone install Oracle database 10g Release 2 on OS "Vista Home" Edition??

    Dear all,
Anyone install Oracle database 10g Release 2 on OS "Vista Home" Edition??
    Best Regards,
    Amy

I think that all that Hans and Werner are saying is that since Oracle is not supported on Windows Home anything, if you have any problems with it, blame Windows and not Oracle. I would also guess that most people who are serious about learning Oracle (which you probably are since no business would install Oracle on Windows Vista Home), would install it on a supported platform such as the Windows Server Editions, XP Pro or Linux.
One possible alternative to what you are asking about is to install a virtual machine on your Windows Home Premium, install Linux as the guest OS in your virtual machine and then install Oracle on the Linux OS. The good thing about this type of installation vs. a dual-boot-with-Linux installation is you don't have to worry about possibly ruining your Windows installation if something goes wrong setting up the dual boot.

  • Install Netweaver 7.1, service pack 3 on Windows 2008 Server 64bit

    Hi All,
Good Morning. I am working as Oracle APPS DBA. I had a requirement for installing  Netweaver 7.1, service pack 3 on Windows 2008 Server 64bit machine.
I need this Application server for Vertex O-Series which is working with SQL Server as the database.
Can any of you guys help me in providing the document or steps in order to install this application server?
    1. Pre-Requisties steps
    2. Installation
    3. Post steps
I apperciat your help in this.
    Thanks,
    Srinivas.

    Hello.
We are at the same point too.
Anybody here install the Vertex O series 6 running on the Java Stack? if so, what NW release and what component?
We are currently running an older version on SAP NW640 JAVA with no issue, and I am making the assumption the new Vertex would be running on the same SAP java AS for 7*... maybe not?
The install  documents from Vertex say the requirement for SAP is:
"SAP NetWeaver 7.1 with Service Pack 3 or higher" and I see that there is only 7.1 for PI and Mobile.
(Maybe they mean SAP NW 7 SP3?)
We did ask Vertex, the company, about running this on the java app and they wrote:
"Netweaver 7.1 is currently supported for deployment of O Series 6.0. Versions 7.0 and 7.3 of Netweaver are not supported.
O Series 6.0 is supported for use with Java 1.5 and Java 1.6. "
Thanks for your help. And I will post here again if I find my answer.

  • Problem Installing Oracle Client 11g R2 64 bit on Windows 7 Enterprise 64

    Hi,
I am having problems installing the Oracle Client 11g R2 64 bit installation on my Windows 7 64 bit Enterprise machine. The installer does all the checks successfully, it gets me to summary screen and I press finish to start the installation. It then opens the installation mask where it first says Checking whether Central Inventory is locked by another OUI session. After that it very briefly shows Central Inventory is not locked and then the window immediately dissapears with no other errors. I tried installing at my colleague's W7 Enterprise 64 machine and it behaves a little differently but with the same result. Basically on his machine it never even opens the Install mask, when pressing finish from the Summary it just disappears and never starts installation. I tried installing 11g R1 and that loads the first mask and when i press next it just dissapears. I basically need an oracle client 64 bit installation on my machine deperately. Please help. Thanks
    Alex

One user above reported installing the 64 bit odbc drivers and then the 32 bit drivers. How did you do that? I'm a neophyte to this.
I'm trying to get a 32 bit ODBC oracle driver to work on a server 2008 R2 machine. I downloaded the 11gR2 x64 client from oracle. The install process makes no mention of 32bit vs 64bit installation. After running the instalation I can run the ODBC administrator and generate a DSN for oracle. When I run the 32 ODBC administrator there is no oracle driver available except the microsoft driver for oracle. When I select that it says that I need to install oracle.
I had at first tried to install 11g instant client. However that didn't work for the 2008 R2 machine. It complained about some registry error when I tried to run the ODBC install program. I need to get it to work for a customer asap.

  • Not able to install Oracle Client 11g R2 64 bit on Windows 7 Enterprise 64

I am having issues. I get "Central Inventory is not locked" and Oracle 11g R2 just closes itself.
I had some previous installations of Oracle, but I am unsure how to get rid of them all. I already removed the registry keys associated with Oracle. Any help here?

  • Install Oracle RepCA 10.1.4.3 on Windows Vista

On Windows Vista I have managed the installation of Oracle Identity Management 11g - 11.1.1 with the Weblogic 10.3.2 per doc http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/install.1111/e12002/toc.htm
The OIM components have been loaded: OID, ODSM.
The oid seems running OK and I am able to bind via ODSM.
Now I want to install OSSO and Oracle Delegated Administration Services Against OID installed per the chapter of the doc.http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/install.1111/e12002/toc.htm
It is required to install OracleAS RepCA 10.14.3 to load the SSO schemas. http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28196_01/repca.1014/b28216.pdf
The OS requirement for Windows: 2000 SP3, 2003. Mine is Vista, I thought it might work for Vista, so I gave a shot.
    The installer fails with:
    "Checking operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2. Actual 6.0";
Is there any way to workaround this? I know for Linux there is the system config file which has the version info, and I had faked it for an installation before.
But I am not sure if we could do the similar on the Windows.
This test setup is my own learning env.

AFAIK, you cannot install the 32-bit version of 10.2.0.3 on Windows 2008. See MOS Doc 740926.1 (Where can I find the Database / Client software to download for Microsoft Vista, or Windows 2008R1?). This assumes your version is 2008R1. For 2008R2, only 10.2.0.5 and 11gR2 are certified.

  • Install oracle client 32 bits on 64 bits windows

We need to intall Oracle driver for OLEDB on a SQL server box.
The SQL server is windows 2008 R2 and SQL server 2008 R2, 64 bits.
But because we have some SSIS packages that need to run in 32 bits,(for example the source file is the Excel), so we are installing oracle client 32 bits instead of 64 bits on the windows box which is 64 bits.
Anyone knows if this will work?
    Thanks

I think it should work. I have a server Win 2008 x64 which runs 32 bit 11g client and we haven't had an issue. I had the same situation as you are in which required me to install 32bit client on x64 server. if you have a test server I would try this on the test server identical to production to make sure that you won't see any hick ups in your production environment. hope this helps.

  • Install Oracle 9i(9.2.0.1) on Windows 7(Prof.)

    I want to install Windows 7 (Prof. Edition ) in my P.C. Could I install Oracle 9i(Release 2, i.e. 9.2.0.1 version)
    on it.
    Please help me.

    Hello,
Oracle *11.2.0.1* and *10.2.0.5* (not yet released) will be certified both for Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2.
You could get more details on the following Notes of My Oracle Support:
    867040.1
    1061272.1
742060.1Oracle *9.2.0.8* will end it's extended support by the end of July 2010 (as you are not in 9.2.0.8 your database
lost it's support on the 31st of July 2007).
So you cannot expect any new patch or evolution on Oracle 9.2, so that it could be certified on Windows 7.
    Best regards,
    Jean-Valentin

  • Oracle 8.1.7.3 client on Windows Server 2008 64bit

    Hi all!
I'm a newbie to Oracle and this forum, so please be gentle...:)
I'm trying to install Oracle 8.1.7.3 client on a 64bit Windows Server 2008, without success. Best result I got so far is 'installed' client and provider, but unable to run the config tools, or use the provider. I installed the same client on a 32bit version of Win Server 2008 and it worked with few minor tweaks.
Reason I'm doing this is trying to integrate an old legacy Oracle 7 database with SQL Server 2008 using linked servers.
Upgrading to a recent version is not an option.
Anyone has any guidelines? please help, this is driving me nuts!
    Thanx,

The client is included. Download it and start the installation. It should give you an option to select 'client only'.
