Installing Oracle 11g client 32 bit, on a windows 64 bit platform
Hi all,
I was searching the forum and came and found out that PL/SQL developer is only 32 bit for the time being and can only be used with a 32 bit oracle client. I need to use PL/SQL developer so I want to know that will a 32 bit client work perfectly with the 64 bit windows 7? Or will there be any issues?
Thanks
hi,
Thanks for your support, but these notes are not opening up.
i went to this link https://blogs.oracle.com/db/entry/master_note_for_oracle_database_client_installation_id_11574631
but whenever i open the note i get the error,
Failure of server APACHE bridge:
No backend server available for connection: timed out after 10 seconds or idempotent set to OFF.
Kindly help me if i'm missing something here.
Thanks

Install Oracle 11g client on Windows 7
Hi,
I am getting an error while installing Oracle 11g R1 client(11.1.0.7.0) on Windows 7 x32.
Error: OUI-18001: The operating system 'Windows Vista Version 6.1' is not supported.
Recommendation : install the recommended service pack.Only for Oracle 10g client installation on win 7 32, 64 bit
To get going with oracle on windows 7 64-bit. You can install oracle 10g 32 which you use for windows XP. Its unusal but successful. Install 10G it will get installed on program files x86. Then open tnsnames.ora files which will be either in program files x86/oracle/....search or it will be in c:\oracle...write the correct server name in tnsnames and in PB while doing the configuration..write tns:servername in the server textbox. I did that and it got connected...incase u need any help let me know my email address is [email protected]

Steps to Install oracle 11g client 32 Bit,64 Bit in a single server
Hi,
I have a requirement to Install Both "Oracle Client 11.2.0.2 Win32" and "Oracle Client 11.2.0.2 Win64" on a single server.
Please provide the step by step instruction for the above requirement.
Environment
Windows Server 2008 R2 64Bit.
Thanks
SambitJust use separate base directories e.g.
c:\32bit\oracle and
c:\64bit\oracle
Install the 32-bit client first, then the 64-bit client. The order should not matter.

Installing oracle instant client 12.1 on Windows 8 with no previous Oracle Software
Hi all,
I want to install oracle client 12.1 on my 64bit windows 8 computer. Do i have to have an oracle software installed first?
I've downloaded all the packages from the oracle website ie, basic, odbc, jdbc, sqlplus and sdk
I have extracted them into one folder c:\Program Files\OracleInstantClient. as told to do in the documentation
These are the actions I have taken as suggested by different forums which i have done;
- created a system variable OCI_LIB64 and set the value to c:\Program Files\OracleInstantClient.
- created a system and user variable ORACLE_HOME and set the value to c:\Program Files\OracleInstantClient.
- created a user variable TNS_ADMIN and set the value to c:\Program Files\OracleInstantClient.
- create subfolders "\network\admin" in your 64-bit client folder and create sqlnet.ora and tnsnames.ora here ie c:\Program Files\OracleInstantClient\network\admin
In another installation guide i found, i was told to double click a setup.exe and start the GUI which i didn't see after i extracted all the downloads
Please am missing something? do i have to install oracle database first? i really don't need that. You do not have to install oracle database in order to install oracle client. But it won't do any good to install the client if you don't have a database to connect to -- somewhere. It's just that the database doesn't have to be in the same box as the client. In fact, it usually isn't.
You created a directory "c:\Program Files\OracleInstantClient\network\admin" to hold your tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files. But then you set tns_admin to point to some other directory. If you set tns_admin, you are telling the client THAT is where it should locate the tns config files.
Oracle sometimes doesn't like putting things in Windows folders that have embedded spaces in the folder name. I'd avoid it like the plague. -
Installing Oracle 11g database (release 2) on Windows 7 Professional 64bit
Hi All,
I am having a problem installing the Oracle database, I go to the site and download the 2 Oracle zip files.
I create a directory C:\temp\
I unzip "1of2" and place the "database" folder in my "temp" folder.
Question 1: In the "2of2" do I take the database/stage/components and place them in the "1of2" database/stage/components folder? not sure how to merge the contents of the zips but this seems like the logical thing to do.
Then I run setup.exe.
Oracle Universal Installer:
Screen 1: I enter email, and uncheck the oracle support box "i wish to receive security updatesvia My Oracle Support".
Note: little "connection failed" popup box, I check it's box "I want to remain uninformed if critical security issues in my configuration", click continue.
Screen 2: install database software only.
Screen 3: Single instance database installation.
Screen 4: I select "English"
Screen 5: I choose to install "Enterprise Edition"
Screen 6: it shows me Oracle base C:\app\<myuser>
software location: C:\app\<myuser>\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1
Screen 7: validating target environment to meet minimum installation loading bar.
ERROR: gets to 100% and the entire OUI abruptly closes with no warning or error message. No further Installation or anything.
please provide so insight on this, I am total at a loss right now and need to get this working.
thank you,

Hi
Please give the oracle support document or link with instructions for installing
Oracle 11g client (latest version) on windows server 2008 64 bit.
Please also give the link for downloading the oracle 11g client too.
Many thanksHi
I did the full installation of the database 11g R2 using the universal installer. So the client dlls and database dlls will be installed in the same location?(oracle home\bin) or will it be separate locations?how will i check this? Its just a matter of pointing the path settings to the client dlls for our app to run correctly, as no separate client installation will be needed then.
Another question related to this is,
we have got a few clients who use 10g database who import our data to their 10g databases.
We used to use 10g exp utility before.
Now, its documented that the 11g exp utility wont import to 10g database.
So if we have to use 11g (not installing 10g at all on our side), expdp instead , what should be the value of VERSION parameter to be used?COMPATIBLE or specific version?(Different customers are different versions of 10g yet single application running export)?
Thanks&Regards..

Windows 7, Oracle 11g Client Post-Installation Error
Hello all--
Background Info:
- I have installed Oracle 11g Client (32-bit) on my Windows 7 Professional (32-bit) workstation.
- The ORACLE_HOME directory (in my case C:\Oracle\Ora11g) is in the PATH environment variable.
- I have created TNS_ADMIN as an environment variable that points to a network folder that contains our tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora.
- I can tnsping our servers and sqlplus connects without issue.
- I am logged in as a regular network user (added into the local Administrators group on my machine).
The problem is that I cannot connect using a user or system DSN in the Microsoft ODBC Administrator, BUT, I can connect with a DSN when I am logged in with the local Administrator account. I have verified the DSNs are setup correctly. The error I get is the ORA-12154 error.
Here is the exact error as it appears:
Unable to connect
SQLState=08004
[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
If I copy the tnsnames.ora file from the network to my machine and remove/redirect TNS_ADMIN to the %ORACLE_HOME%\NETWORK\ADMIN folder, it works with my user account.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
MattHi All--
I figured out what the problem was and I wanted to share what our solution was.
Basically, when you open the Microsoft ODBC Administrator in Windows 7, it has to run with elevated privileges and loads the Administrator profile. Our tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files are on a network share that we map to a drive letter for all users across our organization. The Administrator profile does not have this drive mapping. So I created the TNS_ADMIN environment variable with the full UNC path and I was able to test DSNs successfully.
Regards,
Matt -

Microsoft ODBC for Oracle on a Windows 7 64Bit OS and Oracle 11g Client
Hi,
I have installed Oracle 11g client 64Bit edition on a Windows 7 Professional 64Bit OS. Trying to connect to Oracle DB through ODBC Driver I get the following Message:
Microsoft ODBC for Oracle:
"The Oracle(tm) client and networking components were not found. These components ar supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3 (or greater) client software installation....".
Any ideas how to resolve that problem?Hello,
Please verify the ORACLE_HOME directory is listed on the PATH system variable of Windows 7. Please open the Command Prompt
and examine the result of the command PATH.
Hope this helps.

Oracle 11g client installation on Solaris in non GUI mode
Hi,
I want to know if there is a way i can install Oracle 11g client on Solaris 10 machine in non GUI mode (ie. i want to do it from a command based terminal)
Thanks
AnupHi Anup
You have two ways to install it
1) Client installation without response file
Please Refer to Doc ID 885643.1
2) With Response file
Refer to the document available in Document library
Document Oracle® Database Client Installation Guide
11g Release 2 (11.2) for Solaris Operating System
Note: from 11gR2 onwards you can create a response file from GUI also and then use it later on for silent installation.
Hope this is helpful for You

Sudhir
