Installing Oracle 8.1.7 with PS on Win 2000 cluster

Sorry for bad English.

What me do? Where take OSD? Where reason?

Hi Satish,
You need to install "Oracle Data Provider for .NET" on the target machine, and it needs to be the same version as the one you used to build the assemblies.

hello, I have been following your advices and I have made the installation from the beginning and I have an error iin the penultimate step of the installation (RFCRADDBDIF_IND_IND) and I don't find any solution:

    Creating Database-Specific Objects with RFC
To ensure correct SAP System operation, the program RADDBDIF must be started
in the SAP System after the database load. The program generates
    database-specific objects.
This step starts RADDBDIF wih a remote function call (RFC) to the SAP System
    as the user DDIC.
When executing the remote function call, the SAP System User DDIC tries to log

This will fail if DDIC's password has been changed. In this case you have to

  • Installing Oracle 8i on server with SQL Server 2000

We have One Server (HP with: 4 processors XEON, 100 GB HD Raid 5, 8GB RAM). And this server has SQL Server 2000 running with some databases. We NEED to install ORACLE 8i for a product that they use that DB. IS THERE a problem to install and use ORACLE 8i on the same server that has SQL server 2000? Do you know any issue related to this "experience"?

You CAN run both at the same time. I have done this on a few boxes without issue. MS tells you not to, but I think it's because they don't want you running Oracle. Their comment was 'we don't recommend it.'
Remember that you will have TCP 1521 tied up with Oracle (by default) and TCP 1433 tied up with SQL Server (by default). If you have installation issues, it's not because you are running two separate DBs. In this case you have a different issue. If you can't run both successfully, simultaneously then you have another issue altogether not related to the software. You should be fine as long as you are not sharing TCP ports.
Several years ago I was responsible for an HP Netserver LX Pro that ran Oracle RDMBS 7.3.2 and (probably 4.2 or 6.0) SQL Server and had no issues. I have been running both RDBMSs on the same box since even though the boxes have changed - HP/DELL - didn't matter.

  • Installing Oracle 10g and error with DISPLAY value

Hello, I am instaling Oracle 10g and when I run:
    . /runInstaller
    this error apear:
Can't connect to X11 window server using :0.0 as the value of DISPLAY variable.
how must I set de DISPLAY variable if I have instaling in a local system?
    Thanks

Can't connect to X11 window server using :0.0 as the value of DISPLAY variable.you apparently set the display correctly (:0:0) if you are installing locally.
You could do a xhost + as user531326 if you did not start your X session as oracle

note that xhost + is not a good security practice, have a look at

  • How to install Oracle 9i EE on a clustered server (Windows 2000)

I need to install Oracle 9i on Clustered server (Windows 2000 Server)with Oracle Fail safe. There are 2 Nodes and one Clustered disk with RAID 5.
The documentation from Oracle is NOT very helpful as it does not specify the installation of Oracle DB on the 2 nodes.Where will the control files reside etc for each node.
Any inputs will be highly appreciated
    Thanks

    Hi,
    reply to my own question:
In the docs provided with the downloads for Oracle Database Server 9i x64, I found that this version requires either
    - Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition for 64-Bit Itanium 2 Systems
    or
    - Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition for 64-Bit Itanium 2 Systems
So I guess, the only X64 platform being supported under Windows Server 2003 (both Datacenter / Enterprise Editions) is Itanium CPUs ...
... though this is not (!!!) clearly stated in the download link (other/newer versions are listed more precisely - I guess it's a matter of an old link: no Intel Xeon / AMD Opterons were available (???) when Oracle 9i database server was published).
So I'll give it a try with 10g database server ;-)))

  • Error While Installing Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 on Win 2003 Server

    Hi,
I am getting following error while installing Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 on Windos Server 2003-
    ORA-12546: TNS: Permission Denied.
Above error pops-up during database configuration phase. Oracle docs says- "Acquire necessary privileges and try again." But I am installing as administrator.
    Thanks in advance,
    -Sandeep

I can't tell you why this error is occurring but you are installing a desupported version of the Oracle database that may well not be supported on your version of the o/s.
Check the support matrix and metalink and see if you can install a supported product such as 10.2.

  • Install oracle 8.0.6 with Windows 2000

    hello all,
today we have oracle 8.0.6 on NT Server ...
we need install the same release oracle 8.0.6 on new IBM server, with Windows 2000 Server ...
we are looking information about differences between config oracle 8.0.6 in NT Server and Windows 2000 Server
    thanks in advance
    rodolfo

My tnsnames.ora file is using SID and not SERVICE NAME.
The configuration is the same as the other NT server I am using, this is actually a new server we are trying to replace the production with. The only difference is the OS so far. I looked at all the configuration files and the only error I get is that TNS 12203 error when I try to connect to Oracle.
When I try from any client it does the same thing, TNS 12203 and no connection to database.
Could it be the OS, or does anyone know anyone that has Oracle 8.0.6 on a 2003 Server Box.
    Thanks for your help guys.

  • Installing oracle 11.2 rac with IBM Storwize V7000 san with aix 6.1

Has and one deployed 11g rac with IBM Storwize V7000 san with aix 6.1
Is this possible using Oracle CRS without going for OS cluster like GPFS

    Hi lbn76,
Has and one deployed 11g rac with IBM Storwize V7000 san with aix 6.1
Is this possible using Oracle CRS without going for OS cluster like GPFS
I hope same thing will work with AIX 6.1 alsoNo problem, the procedure of installation of clusterware is the same in any AIX Platform.
If you are using Clusterware 11.2 you can (should) use ASM Diskgroup to place your clusterware files and database files. If you want use Cluster Filesystem to any other purpose you can use ACFS feature of ASM.
The Storage will be transparent to the ASM, the Luns will be mapped to AIX and ASM (Oracle) will manage the read and write.
The Storage Storwize have several great features, but are transparent to the ASM. The ASM will only see the LUNs provided by AIX.

  • Can I install Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition on Windows 2000 Professional

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I have Windows 2000 professional edition loaded on my PC and I'm not sure what it allows. Can I load Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition of the database on this operating system, or do I need to load windows 2000 server software.
    Thanks
    Ryan

Its a problem with oracle and pentium 4 processors actually. The solution involves renaming or deleting the symcjit.dll in the 8i installation package after you've copied the whole Cd onto your HDD!
I've tried this and it install OK, with a few errors along the way, now I can't get the apache server working, nor on the 9i AS that I've installed as well. Let me know if you get anything useful please?

  • Error installing Oracle 9i Database Enterprise/personal edition for win xp

    Hi,
Not sure if anyone can help me, but I just finish downloading the
Oracle Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition for Windows NT/2000/XP (32 bit)
When I finished unzipping the 3 files into Disk1, Disk2, and Disk3 folders I tried running the setup.exe file but nothing happens.
I am using windows XP as my operating system. Can anyone tell me why the setup is not working?
    Thank you.

    XP Professional, or XP Home?
There are a lot of cases where people have tried and failed to install on XP Home. Also a few successes.
Also, how is your firewall and anti-virus software configured. Those may be blocking your install process.

  • A solution: Install Oracle 8.1.7 on P4 running Windows 2000

The following information maybe a solution to a P4/W2K Oracle 8I
installation problem. Thanks to James S. Barrett.
Known Oracle 8i Installation issue on P4

A solution is to replace a dll file

Where to get the dll file
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/jre/
    Good luck.

    Hi James..
    Thanks for your tips.
Here are the problems that I am facing.
    1. I went to java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/jre to down load JRE1.2.
There is only v1.3.1 to download. After download v1.3.1 and
execute the file, I can't find the new symcjit.dll file in it.
    2. Then I was trying to follow the simpler solution you found on
your Oct. 4, 2001 email. Because I am new to Oracle
Installation, I don't know what are the Oracle 8i installation
files and where to find them. Also how to create an ora_temp
directory and under which folder. One more question is that on
top of renaming the symcjit.dll to symcjit.o, do I need to
replace the good symcjit.dll to the ora_temp folder?
I am wondering if you could possibly do me a favor by emailing
that good symcjit.dll file (410k) to me. OAnd email me more
detail steps to overcome these problems.
Your help will be greately appreciated. Thanks!
