Hello all,

i surfed the internet to get more information about this and what i got was that Oracle 9i is not supported on 2008..
is it so... and that means i need to install higher version of Oracle on Windows Server 2008.. ??
Thanks & Regards

Pratik,
I am just copy the reply by Sybrand Sir :
Oracle 9iR2 was desupported on July 31,2007
Windows 2008 was released in 2008.
Oracle never (re-) certifies for new versions of any O/S
Please upgrade to Oracle 10gR2 (preferred) or downgrade your server to XP or 2003.
Sorry, but you have no other choice.

please help me i am try to install oracle developer 10g on win server 2008 but failed because the version of operating system not 5 or 5.1 or 5.2 and it is 6
so i want to install oracle developer 11g on win server 2008 but i am not found oracle developer 11g to download it
please any one help me to solve this problem or help me to find oracle developer 11g
    Thank you

Oracle Developler 11g is now called Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMw) 11g and can be downloaded from the Oracle Fusion Middleware Downloads page. You have to download and install WebLogic Server (WLS) 10.3.3 first, then scroll down and download and install Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer (11.1.1.3.0).
When you install WLS, make sure you do not run the configuration step. When you install FMw, it will configure the WLS as part of it's configuration step.
    Hope this helps,

  • I am trying to install Oracle 9i on Windows Server 2008

    Hi
I am trying to install Oracle 9i on Windows Server 2008.
While installing third CD it shows the following error message
    "jrew.exe has stopped working"
Please guide me what to do next as early as possible.
    Thanks

    Why?
The general policy of Oracle is very simple:
it certifies against the current version of the OS.
It never re-certifies against new releases of the OS.
Windows 2008 didn't exist when Oracle 9i was released.

  • Installing Oracle 10g on Windows Server 2008

    Hi,
I want to install Oracle 10g on Windows Server 2008. As per Oracle, I should install 10.2.0.3 and then apply patchset 10.2.0.4.
For that, one has to sign in to metalink which is possible only for customers. I am
using Oracle only for educational purposes for now. Is there any other way of using Oracle 10g on Windows 2008?
    Thanks,
    Vladi

Of course if you don't have support and for educational purpose only , you should compromise a little by either install other OS or get virtual machine like VMware.
Or stay with 10.2.0.3, that should work in most cases.

please if any one can give me any solution to run my database console. i don't know any method. i'm new to the oracle.
    Thank you

I have checked that. but i also say that oracle 10g (10.2.0.4 ) support for windows server 2008 r2 X64.
    Windows Server 2008 x64
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4 or later) for Windows x64 is certified on Windows Server 2008 x64 (all editions). 32-bit Oracle Database Client (10.2.0.4) and higher versions are supported on Windows Server 2008 x64.
I don'y think it's problem of os version or oracle version. Because when we purchase we asked from them what is the recommended version for our os. they told that 10g 10.2.0.4 is ok. previously i have installed this successfully. But now i can't.
however thanks for tried to help me. if u can find out any other reason\s please late me know..
    thank you very much.

  • Installing oracle 8i on windows server 2008

    hi all,
is it possible to install oracle 8i database standard edition on windows 2008 server?
i'm starting the instalation and almost in the end of it when it suppose to ask me to configure net8 it freez.
i have tns error ora- 12560 TNS-protocol adapter error
i'll be glad if anybody has answers,

I wouldn't have a clue whether it is possible. Want to ask a different question? Whether if you ever succeeded it would be supported or stable? The answer is No.
Oracle 8i is so old it hasn't been supported during the current decade, the current century, the current millennium.
If you are going to install anything do not go further back than 10.2.0.4 or you are just wasting your time.

  • Which JRE version to install on 64bit OS (win server 2008)

    Hello everyone
I'm not sure what Java and JCO versions / releases to install on a Windows Server 2008 Standard 64bit Edition. We're installing  Edge BI 3.1... apparently this is 32bit Software. I understand that we need to install JCO 2.1.9. Normally I prefer to install 64bit versions of a software on a 64bit OS.
In the JCO 2.1.9 installation preliminaries I read:
The SAP Java Connector (JCo) 2.1.9 requires a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version 1.3 or 1.4. The 64-bit JCo versions need a 64-bit JRE version 1.4. Please see SAP note 549268 for a current and detailed list of supported platforms and Java runtime environments.
Unfortunately I can't find a 64bit JRE version 1.4... just a 32bit JRE 1.4.2_19 version. Furthermore this Java version is end of life. See http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/download-138376.html.
So question is: what versions exactly for JCO 2.1.9 (32 or 64 bit) and JRE should I install?
Thanks for some clarification in advance to anyone!
    Renaud
    EDIT:
According to [this|Re: BOE SAP integration kit issue - Java connector] posting it seems that it is required to install the 32bit version of JCO 2.1.9

Actually, this problem is only partially solved. I still get "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock..." when I type 'mysql'. I can access mysql by typing 'sudo mysql', but still get the socket error when connecting via php, so I think I still need to get to the point where I can type mysql without sudo.
Also, I went ahead and installed MySQL 5 with the tar package.

  • How to install Oracle Instantclient on Windows Server 2008 Web Edition

I am trying to install the Oracle Instantclient on our Windows Web server (x64).
    * I downloaded instantclient-basic-win-x86-64-11.1.0.7.0
    * Extracted to c:\instantclient
    * appended the directory to the path
    * created system variable 'SQL_PATH' with same path
    * gave everyone all rights to the instantclient folder
    * gave network service explicitly all rights to the instantclient folder
    * rebooted IIS
    * rebooted the server
But still my application keeps returning with System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.
What am i missing/doing wrong? It seems i have mixed and merged all possible solutions which Google would return.

Since System.Data.OracleClient is a Microsoft library, you'd better ask them.
    Or use Oracle's provider:

  • Problem Installing EM Cloud control 12c in Win Server 2008

    Hi All,
I having problem installing the EM in win server 2008 64bits. I already installed java run time but when i click on the setup.exe in the disk 1 after unzip it does not show the installation wizard and any error message. Did i miss out something? do i need to create the user group and user as stated in the installation guide as stated in this link Installing Enterprise Manager System - 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1)?

Hi, can you open an SR for this issue and share the number. Lets check few basic things:
    a) can you make sure that all the zips are downloaded from OTN have correct byte and checksum information
    b) Can you make sure that you unzipped all these zips files in a single folder ?
    c) After unzipping can you check if you have following folders created ( not these folder are for linux but they will be same on windows) -
install      libskgxn      plugins     response     stage     WT.zip
    jdk     oms     runInstaller      wls
    d) Can you invoke setup.exe -debug
then look at the logs from -
C:\Users\aime\AppData\LocalTemp\2\OraInstall2013-07-09_04-10-59AM   ( for windows it will be orInstaller.err and log )
You donot need any user group or any thing created.

  • Oracle R12 on Windows Server 2008

Hi - does anyone have a good guide or link to a site that does a walk through of installing Oracle R12 on Windows Server 2008?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Thanks for the guide, anyone with experience in Windows, do you know if the Server goes to sleep, that once it is woken up, that the R12 instance would work fine? I think the application will not be accessible when the server does to sleep.
I would ideally like to let the Server go to "Sleep" when not in use. Once a user wants to test something, they can wake it up using WOL, then login to the instance. What is the point of letting the server goes to sleep? I would say that you may need to bounce some services then which is not a feasible solution -- You may verify this and try it yourself.

  • Bootcamp Win Server 2008 x64 - No network

I have no networking either wired or wireless with Bootcamp and Windows Server 2008 x64.
I've repaired the drivers from the bootcamp partition on the OSX disk - no change, and uninstalled the device drivers for the ethernet controllers and the Broadcom Wireless 802.11n device in Device Manager, rebooted, windows wasn't able to install the drivers.
Does anyone know where I can download the x64 drivers, for the Broadcom Wireless 802.11n
Both the wired and wireless work Ok under OSX with all updates installed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    MacPro 2 x 2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

I had the same problem but I came up with a solution. Since I was following some instructions on using Win server 2008 as a workstation I saw that it mentioned downloading Everest Ultimate Edition (trial version worked) to find out what the hard ware was that needed a driver. When I did this I saw that the network device was listed as a Intel 82574L. After finding the name of the hardware I went to "computer management" and clicked on "device manager." From there I double clicked on the network device, clicked on the reinstall driver; from there browse for driver software & let me pick from a list. Select network adapters - intel - and then on the Intel 82574L. Once it installed the network came right up. Hope that helps you out & good luck!
