Installing Oracle BAM on Windows XP

I just wanted to know whether Oracle BAM can work on Windows XP. In the install guide they have mentioned XP can be used for demo purposes but their minimum requirements state they need Windows Server 2003 or 2000 as the platform.
Can you please confirm whether BAM will work on Windows XP?

Please note that it is not officially supported. If you have a problem then you would need to reproduce it on a supported platform to get Oracle support help.

  • Is it required to specify the domain name while installing Oracle Bam

    Hi all,
I am trying to install Oracle BAM. Is it neccessary to specify domain while configuring services location.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
According to your descryption, In windows 7, the tool is migwiz.exe, namely the Windows Easy Transfer, you can modify the registry in the way listed in the post below:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/bbf5890c-b3d7-4b38-83d8-d9a5e025fb2b/how-to-move-clientside-caching-to-a-new-location?forum=w7itproinstall
In Windows 8, Windows easy transfer is also a built in tool to migrate user profiles and user settings, but as for the offline transfer, I suggest to use the USMT for your situation.
Because with USMT you can specify the folder that you want to migrate the files to, by using an offline.xml you can set the path just as the sample listed below:
    <offline>
         <winDir>
              <path>C:\Windows</path>
              <path>D:\Windows</path>
              <path>E:\</path>
         </winDir>
         <failOnMultipleWinDir>1</failOnMultipleWinDir>
    </offline>

  • Cannot install Oracle BAM with Oracle XE 10.2.0.1

    Hi,
I'm trying to install Oracle BAM 10.1.3.3.0 on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition. I've previously installed Oracle DB XE edition (10.2.0.1.0) on another machine and checked all the software requirements.
I have no problem with the first installation step regarding Oracle Client for BAM. When relaunching setup.exe for installing the other components, I have the following error : "Database version at parameter#1, xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1521 should be 9.2.0.7 or higher, 10.1.0.5 or higher, 10.2.0.2 or higher."
However, according to the installation's guide:
"Oracle Database 10g Express Edition (Oracle Database XE) version 10.2.0.1.0 may
be used for non-production purposes. See the Oracle Database 10g Express Edition
Web site for more information "
So here is my question: Is Oracle BAM  10.1.3.3.0 really compatible with Oracle XE?
If so, any suggestions to resolve this issue will be most appreciated!
    Thanks.

No Oracle XE is not compatible due to its version. Oracle BAM need 10.2.0.2 or higher as it comes in the POP Up while installation.
I also faced the same issue. Unfortuntely I could not find any version upgrade also for Oracle XE.
    I hope this help!

  • I am trying to install Oracle 9i on Windows Server 2008

    Hi
I am trying to install Oracle 9i on Windows Server 2008.
While installing third CD it shows the following error message
    "jrew.exe has stopped working"
Please guide me what to do next as early as possible.
    Thanks

    Why?
The general policy of Oracle is very simple:
it certifies against the current version of the OS.
It never re-certifies against new releases of the OS.
Windows 2008 didn't exist when Oracle 9i was released.

I have a problem Installing Oracle 9i on Windows Vista Home Premium, I cant install it because it throws me an error message saying that is incompatible with my version of Windows. It is possible to install it with some patch or something??

The only patch I know of is called Windows XP.
In case you have not done any internet searches on this, even Oracle Database 10g was not compatible with Vista until Oracle applied some heavy patches and re-released it.
And since Oracle9i is officially deprecated (nearest thing to obsolete as to make no difference) I see no reason for Oracle to backport the patches.

Is there any patch to install this or i have to use other version of oracle with window 7 operating system?

The argument would be who wants to install Oracle database on Windows 7. I think most probably by the developers who wants to "Try" something prior deal with a production database, right?
For a developer, installing database using the hack is more than NOT having a local database running from the local system. I installed all the products mentioned with windows7bugs post and used the following tools to successfully connect and retrive data from the database instances.
    Toad 9.7.x.x
    SQL Developer
    SQL/Plus
Developer 6i (Another hack, please check this link http://windows7bugs.wordpress.com/2010/03/01/installing-oracle-developer-forms-reports-6i-on-windows-7-64bit/).
I think the discussion about whether all the features of client/server are still available with such a hacked installation is meaningless as far the information requested was strictly for Windows 7, not for a Server OS.

  • How to Install Oracle 11g on Windows Vista

Hi Everyone, this is Abhinay here i am a Graduate Student from Electronics and i am planning to shift to CS background the main thing i want to know from you guys is " A structured procedure of Installing Oracle 10g on Windows Vista"- So can any one of you guys help me out??????????

Hi, how are you doing ?
Just one advice about it. If you want to work with Oracle databases, it will be better to install it on certified OS's. Doing so, you will get better experience and more realistic experience on it.
Following the Oracle database documentation, you will get all that you need to successfully install the database in the certified OS.

    1. Install the software on both without the database
    2. Create the database from the first node
in this case, The second node can see the database as it is available?,
and what about the IP adresses?
If you can point me to some documentation, or help in any way, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks for any help.

Oracle Fail Safe comprises multiple components: Oracle Fail Safe Manager, Oracle Services for MSCS, and server components specific to Oracle Fail Safe.

So I don't know how you can achieve this without Fail Safe.
There might be other link which I cannot find right now.

You may already know this, but the 8.1.7 Server install is not supported on XP, although the Client install is. You may want to install Oracle9i instead.
Having said that, I have heard that people have managed to install 8.1.7 on XP, but it isn't always successful.

  • Install Oracle XE on Windows XP Embedded

Can I install Oracle XE on Windows XP Embedded?

I'm not sure that anyone has tried that before.
Are you going to have enough memory? I think the answer might be along the lines of installing on XP Home... it could be done, but it will take a lot of time and a fair amount of voodoo. It also won't be supported.

  • Install Oracle 10g on windows 2008 Server 64bit

Is it possible to install Oracle 10g on Windows 2008 64bit . I read one post below it says , windows 2008 is not certified for oracle 10g ..
    windows server 2008 Oracle 10G 64 bit
before I installed 32bit , it is throwing error message on alert log file on every 5 seconds.

    O/S-Error: (OS 1) Incorrect function. ! "
if it is possible which version I want to download is best ..
and what is the recommendation whether it is 10g or 11g

You mean to say Oracle 10g 64bit will not work in Windows 2008..?No, i meaned the post you linked was written in year 2008, in that year it's was a unsupported platform for that oracle version. Actually its supported and you can install it.
Furthermore like Aman told you, It's more recommended install 11gR2 version
