Installing Oracle client with PSU

Hello together,
I am planning to install Oracle client on AIX
Normally we use to follow the order -
     - Client software Base Release (p10098816_112020_AIX64*)
     - OPatch (p6880880_112000_AIX64*)
But what I prefer is -
     - Client software Base Release (p10098816_112020_AIX64*)
     - OPatch (p6880880_112000_AIX64*)
     - PSU (p12419331_112020_AIX*)
Also During installation of PSU there is a warning that some options are missing (oracle.rdbms...)
I checked in metalink, whether PSU have to be applied during Client installation. but didn't find a proper recommendation.
Can anybody help on this ..
Regards,
-Rajesh

Hi
My Oracle Support Note: 1313771.1 is recommending PSU for $ORACLE_HOME, If either listener.ora or tnsnames.ora show usage of TCPS protocols.
Here my question is why I am getting some alerts "Verifying environment and performing prerequisite checks..." for Optional component(s) missing : [ oracle.rdbms, 11.2.0.2.0 ] , [ oracle.sysman.console.db, 11.2.0.2.0 ] , [ oracle.sysman.oms.core, 10.2.0.4.3 ] , [ oracle.rdbms.dv, 11.2.0.2.0 ] , [ oracle.sysman.plugin.db.main.repository, 11.2.0.2.0 ]

  • How i install oracle client with ODBC using response file method

    Hi,
I have managed to create a response file using OUI. Currently, I do not know what are the methods which i can install a group of computers using this response file. Any advise
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Tony

Presumably, any method that allows you to remotely run code on the group of computers would allow you to do a silent install of the Oracle client and ODBC driver. I know Microsoft and various third parties sell such tools, but I'm not enough of a Windows admin to know anything about the relative benefits of the products in this category.

  • Can i install Oracle client with diferent version than database server?

    Hi,
I need to install in two PC client 11g R2 version client. One of my database version is 10g R2 and the other is 9i. Can i install in my PC client a Oracle client version different to my database servers (or i need to install exactly de same version)? I need buy any aditional license?
    Many thanks in advance.

In general you can install an Oracle client version that is different from Oracle database server. However you should take care of client/server support status on My Oracle Support site: see Client / Server / Interoperability Support Matrix For Different Oracle Versions [ID 207303.1].

  • Errors when installing Oracle Client 10.2.0.2.0 on zLinux (Red Hat)

I am receiving errors when installing Oracle Client 10.2.0.2.0 (Administrator) on zLinux. During the install I receive two notifications for File Not Found when the installer tries to create the link for lib32/libclntsh.so.10.1. I hit ignore on the pop-ups and the install completes. The Oracle Net Configuration Assistant then fails to launch with the following error:
Output generated from configuration assistant "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant":

The "/opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.
I have seen multiple threads relating to very similar errors, but none of the fixes that were suggested have worked. I have double checked the required Red Hat packages and made sure they were all installed on the server. All of the prerequisite checks for the installer are successful. Any assistance would be of most helpful!

Worked with my Linux system admin and figured out that we were indeed missing some packages. There are 390 and 390x rpm's for Red Hat on System Z, i.e. 64 bit and 32 bit versions. Since we are running a 64 bit os some of those 32 bit packages did not get installed. Since our roles are split up, I am kind of blind as to the OS setup so I was not able to catch the problem. It is truly puzzling as to why Oracle would need 32 bit packages even though Oracle client is 64 bit. Regardless, after adding the 32 bit rpm's the installer was able to perform the linking operation that was failing, and the network configuration script ran successfully.

The problem is Oracle usually don't provide direct Oracle Client download except for Windows. You need to download the Server installation file and install the client piece. The download files are rather large.
and is there any other tool which i can install instead of oracle client? It depends on what you plan to do with Oracle client and why you need it.
On alternative is instance client, it has direct download for all supported platform.

8i definitely has problems with Pentium IV processors. The fix is to copy the entire CD to the hard drive and then rename each copy of symcjit.dll to symcjit.old.

  • Error when trying to install oracle client (can't connect to X11 error)

    Hi guys,
I need help to install Oracle Client 10g. I am quite a novice so I am totally hopeless when it comes to difficult or linux-kind-of-terms.
I can't use GUI at all, so everything got to be done through putty.exe
my local pc (where the putty is, IP 192.168.8.194) -> linux red hat 4 IP 192.168.8.31 (where the oracle client should be!)
when I run the runIntaller I receieved error mentioning about DISPLAY variable haven't set yet.
I did set it trhough putty as follow
    DISPLAY=192.168.8.194:0.0
    export DISPLAY
    no luck...I still hit an error that eventho this time the error is like below;
    =============================================================================
Can't connect to X11 window server using '192.168.8.194:0.0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable.
    192.168.8.194:0.0
    192.168.8.194:0.0
OUI-10025:Unable to start an interactive install session because of the following error:Can't connect to X11 window server using '192.168.8.194:0.0' as the value of the DISPLAY variable. The DISPLAY environment variable should be set to <hostname or IP address>:<screen>, where the <screen> is usually '0.0'.
    - Make sure that client users are authorized to connect to the X Server.
OUI-10027:To enable client users to access the X Server, open an xterm, dtterm or xconsole as the user that started the session and type the following command:
    % xhost +
To test that the DISPLAY environment variable is set correctly, run a X11 based program that comes with the native operating system such as 'xclock':
    % <full path to xclock... see below>
If you are not able to run xclock successfully, please refer to your PC-X Server or OS vendor for further assistance.
    Typical path for 'xclock': '/usr/X11R6/bin/xclock'
    ==============================================================================
When I run the xclock using GUI I can see it pop up on my screen, but when I run xclock trhough putty, I see that it just went blank...is that right because I am using putty or what?
Can you guys please help? Everyone that had this problem like find the solution real easy...I just so frustrated because this setting is just not working, and I have no idea what to check. Do I need extra library or something to install this?
Please remember that I can use GUI in my test server but I can't use any GUI at all when I am implementing this.
    Thanks thanks thanks.
    Daniel -

    Hi-
You are right. putty is just a simple console without X11 in it. how come it didn't even cross my mind?
Thanks for the reply. I solved it by using third party software called xdeep, from what I got from internet looks like this and the software you were talking about hold the same purpose. This xdeep is pretty easy to configure and in just few seconds I can launch the installer! Gee...!
For those guys that having the same problem as me then find xdeep software from google and browse on the configure webpage. I found a step by step configuration setting from the internet too and it's real easy.

  • Accessing Oracle Server without Installing Oracle Client

    Hi
I work on a linux based server which would be installed with Oracle Server. My problem is that I dont want to install Oracle Client on every client workstation since there are 1500 PCs in my company.
Could anyone help me on this?
Please note that all of the workstation are using Windows Operating System.
    Thanks
    Antony

I do not believe such an animal exists. Since Oracle's wire protocol is proprietary, reverse engineering it is a very significant investment.
If you need to access the Oracle server without installing the Oracle client, can you use the thin JDBC driver?

  • How to install Oracle client Version 10.2.0.4 on a Windows server 2008

    Hi,
I need to install an Oracle client on a Windows Server 2008 (32-bit), how do I do that?
I want to install Oracle client version 10.2.0.4 (Instant Client Package - Basic: All files required to run OCI, OCCI, and JDBC-OCI applications).
Pls. advice, I can't find instructions for this installation on Oracle.com or anywhere else.

    thx, it looks promising...
but how to run the .jar files and which one to run, both Class12.jar and ojdbc14.jar, to start the installation?
Do I need to install the java runtime environment to run the .jar files?

  • Install oracle client 32 bits on 64 bits windows

We need to intall Oracle driver for OLEDB on a SQL server box.
The SQL server is windows 2008 R2 and SQL server 2008 R2, 64 bits.
But because we have some SSIS packages that need to run in 32 bits,(for example the source file is the Excel), so we are installing oracle client 32 bits instead of 64 bits on the windows box which is 64 bits.
Anyone knows if this will work?
    Thanks

I think it should work. I have a server Win 2008 x64 which runs 32 bit 11g client and we haven't had an issue. I had the same situation as you are in which required me to install 32bit client on x64 server. if you have a test server I would try this on the test server identical to production to make sure that you won't see any hick ups in your production environment. hope this helps.

  • How to install Oracle 10g with its grid functionality on Linux?

Well, I thought changing the subject line might help to convey the meaning of what I want better. Here's my earlier post from a few hours earlier.
    Hi,
I need carry out TPC-C benchmarking test for Oracle 10g (using one, two and four servers; basically using the grid in case of multiple servers). I have installed oracle 10g (with default options) on all the four servers, but beyond that I have no idea as to how can I invoke the grid option in order to carry out the tests-by my statement, I mean do I need to choose grid option while installing Oracle or is it the case that I specify the grid option in the code that I write for carrying out the tests. The OS is LInux (Scientific Linux).
An unrelated problem-one of the servers is 64 bit while others are 32 bit, and proper versions of oracle have been installed. Neglecting the obvious fact that this will make comparisons difficult does anyone anticipate any other problem?
    Many Thanks!
    Steve

Do you think that the installation of RAC can be done
in a week? yes, as long as you know what you are doing and can catch the concept quickly and good at following instructions.
Moreover, we do not have a cluster-all we
have are four servers that are separate. Do you know
if the name Real Application Clusters implies that
the servers have to be in a cluster?
The basic idea of RAC is all these hosts need to share same set of storage. The most popular such storage are SAN and NAS.

  • Any docs on HOW TO INSTALL ORACLE CLIENT ON OBIEE SERVER?`

    Thanks...

Generally speaking the way to installing Oracle Client does not depend directly on the product that is going to use it
If some product requires some specific Oracle Client versions or Oracle Client configurations you should find this information in the product documentation (i.e OBIEE Server) and not in Oracle Client documentation.
You can find Oracle Client documentation (named "Database Client") in the Installation sections of tahiti.oracle.com. For example for 11.2: http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/portal.portal_db?selected=11&frame=#microsoft_windows_installation_guides.

    1. Check the administrative privilege of that windows machine.
    2. Copy the binaries of client again in your machine. It may be corrupted.
    3. Restart your machine and try again.
