Installing Oracle Forms Developer 9i

1) I downloaded the trial version (free 30 days) of Oracle Forms Developer 9i and burned the application onto 2 separate disks at my college computer lab. The files were downloaded from the Oracle website as ZIP files.
2) Next, I made a directory (folder) on my desktop entitled:
C:\Documents and Settings\Julie
Harris\Desktop\OracleFormsDev into which I copied the 2 zip files.
3) Finally, I clicked on the first zipped Oracle file and had it extract into a directory that I specified called c:programFiles\OracleFormsDeveloper\
4) The problem is that now I have several (almost 100) files that were extracted from the 2 zip files and don't know which one to click on to install the program in the program files directory on my PC.
During the unzipping process with Winzip, I got a Winzip error that says: " I/O error. Unable to read from zip file." during the time that Winzip was attempting to extract the oembase.jar portion of the Oracle Program.
The Disk 1 files are extracted and I am currently extracting the disk 2 files; however, I don't know what file to click on to install the program once everything is unzipped. I don't see a setup.exe file; however I did notice autorun.exe on the 1st of the 2 CDs. Should I click on autorun.exe to install Oracle Forms Developer?
If I need to learn some other necessary steps to properly install this program, please let me know. I need to use the program do complete my class project.

if you are saying that one of the zip file was corrupted, chances are that you don't have all the files copied. The Developer Suite can be downloaded from OTN.

Installing Oracle Forms Developer 6i Release 2 for Linux (d2k6irelease2.tar)

I have downloaded the d2k6irelease2.tar file from OTN. There is no such
file present with the distribution which can be executed for installation.
Has anybody tried the installation from this file. Please guide.

Problem installing Oracle Internet Developer Suite 1.0.2.4.1 (Forms & Reports 6i)

I am unable to install Oracle Internet Developer Suite 1.0.2.4.1 - specifically Forms & Reports 6i, Designer, Discoverer (ALL Products on Quick Install option on Windows 98 system). The installation proceeds to Install screen when the various files start to load ... Then the whole process stops after showing 100% load (sometimes the screen freezes, sometimes I get error message - illegal instruction etc) when the following file is being loaded :
Extracting ... ewt_swingaccessbridge.jar
I have another question :
I have Personal Oracle 8i (8.1.7) installed on D:\Oracle\Ora81 already.
During the install process (before I get the above error message) the 8.1.7 RSF-based product install location screen presents itself with the option to create a new Oracle Home and location (The preferred Oracle Home name iDSData and preferred Oracle Home Location D:\ORACLE\iDSData are already entered in the boxes) or Select an existing ORACLE_HOME. My existing ORACLE_HOME is
D:\Oracle\Ora81. What am I supposed to do at this point ? The installation guide is not explicit. Any help with these topics will be greatly appreciated.

Had the same problem too. It won't install in the same directory as your database. You need to create a new directory on your hard drive and have it installed there. Worked for me.

There should be a text based installer in the /orainst sub-
directory
In that directory, just run the script:
./orainst
The installer seems to require libXm.a, which wasn't included in
my RH 7.1 installation, so I had to install the motif-
development libraries before the full install would complete
successfully.

Unable to run forms in oracle forms developer 10g

I am using oracle forms developer 10g on oracle application Release 12.
When i run form i am getting error that weblistener is not running on default port 8888. Then i changed it to 8000. But still i am not able to run the forms.

In addition to running OC4J, you must also have your browser configured to use a Java Runtime Environment. The easiest - and preferred - method is to install the Oracle JInitiator as there is not configuration needed other than the installation. You can also use Sun's JRE, but you would have to research how to configure your PC correctly. The other option is to change your FormsWeb.cfg file to use the Browser Native JRE. Edit the formsweb.cfg file and find the IE= directive. The Default is IE=jinitiator. Change this to IE=Native, save your changes and you are done. This is not the preferred solution, but it does work.

Using Oracle Forms Developer/Services 6i Release 2 with Oracle 9i

I am trying to load Oracle Forms Developer/Services 6i Release 2 for Windows 95/98/NT/2000/XP with already installed Oracle 9i , I am able to use all the applications installed with 9i database but I am not able to use Forms with it, Please let me know if any of you have any thoughts or Idea around this, Also please let me know what version of Forms & Reports will go with Oracel 9i Database.

Hi,
First use gunzip utility to unzip .gz file. Once you are done, you will get a .tar file. Use tar -xvf to untar the file to a directory. It is similar to unzip.

Installing Oracle Forms on Linux

Dear all,
I'm trying to install Oracle Forms but stumbling upon its perquisites. My machine is Linux Slackware 13.0 64 and I've been trying to install Developer Suite but it failed since my Linux version is not supported.
My question is:
1. Can I modify (or cheat on) Universal Installer setup so that it let me install on Slackware?
2. I also looked at Fusion Middleware requirements and it also supports only Linux Oracle, Suse, or Redhat. Is there any workaround to install the software without changing my OS?

You can just copy the relevant parts (the ones marked with error). You can also look at the timing
when it happened the reports environment did not start.
From what i remember this could be a memory issue, standard every managed server (WLS_FORMS and WLS_REPORTS) instance
is configured with 1024m bytes of memory.
What we did is first install a forms instance and after that a reports instance. After the forms installation we adjusted the
memory parameters in setWLSEnv (<middleware-home>/user_projects/domains/<domain-name>/bin). Look in this file
for references to WLS_FORMS (something similar to: if [ "${SERVER_NAME}" = "WLS_FORMS" ] ; then).
Another thing which springs to my mind is, which products did you select. If you just want Forms and Reports
you can select just the following:
- Oracle Forms
- Oracle Reports
- Developer Tools aan.
- Management Components
- Oracle HTTP Server
and deselect the other options:
- Oracle Portal
- Oracle Discoverer
- Oracle WebCache
- Clustered (if you are not using clustering)
We also had to fix the following files (i do not think that you have to do this since your Forms did not show any problems):
- (On Windows) Copy the file msvcr71.dll (FMW/windows/extra) to WINDOWS/system32.
- Copy the file mod_wl_ohs.so (FMW/<operating-system>/extra) to <middleware-home>/as_1/ohs/modules.

I would like to install Oracle Forms and Reports 11g (11.1.1.4) on Windows 2012 Server. So could you please suggest me whether Windows 2012 is certified or not for installing Oracle Forms and Reports 11g (11.1.1.4) .

Forms 11.1.1.4 is not certified for Windows Server 2012. Further more, no 11g Forms release is actually certified by Oracle to run on Windows Server 2012.
I would use Windows Server 2008 and use Forms 11.1.2.1 (11gR2). 11gR2 is the best release from Oracle and will run much better than Forms 11.1.1.4.

Suite 10g. This includes Forms and Reports.this topic interests me too, because I've downloaded Developer Suite and Database (both for 10g) from Oracle website, installed them, but I couldn't connect to a database.
What should be done for me to create a database link and be able to connect locally, in my personal Desktop computer? (Not to a server)
Once it was told me here that I should download 10g Database - I did it, and installed it, but it didn't work. Later, some of my job partners said I should install them in a sequence - that is, 1st the Developer, and 2nd the Database. But it has failed too. And I don't know how to configure a database connection.

Blank browser when run oracle form developer 10g

I'm newbie on oracle developer.
I'm using oracle form developer 10g, database also 10g and default browser firefox.
I made a form n give EMPLOYEE_MDL for the name.
I got problem when i try to run form, first time shown "*ORACLE FORMS.*" on browser and then the browser getting blank(just white space), the url is:
http://red-erie:8889/forms/frmservlet

It worked for me in Windows 7 Home premium, both in 32 and 64 bit operating systems...
What I did was,
After successful instalaltion of developer suite, I've installed latest JRE from www.java.com and configured formsweb.cfg and default.env file.
I've used IE8 only. I haven't tested on any other browsers.
Do modify these lines to configure formsweb.cfg to change to JRE from Jinitiator (As said by CraigB )

TRYING to install Oracle Forms 6i w/ PO8i... please advise

Hi, I currently have Personal Oracle 8i installed on an HP Pavilion Win98. I have taken a class called Personal Oracle and have bought a few books and have been learning SQL, SQL Plus, and trying PL/SQL. However, I also want to learn some development skills and have tried to install Oracle Forms 6i (the version I have is for 95/98/NT, so at least I know I have the correct platform compatability). When I try to install Forms I'm getting 'missing file' errors that prevent the installation. Does the Oracle Home 'Name' and 'Location' have to be the same as the Personal Oracle installation, do they need to be different? Everything I'm doing for now will be done entirely on this machine, so location of data is not an issue. These are the files missing when I try to install:
jre11.map
rsf73.map
cdesql60.map
I had the 'cdesql60.map' missing file error first. Then I did a couple of other things (don't know what the heck I did) and then I get the 'rsf73.map' error, then the 'jre11.map' error. I tried using the universal installer but there seems to be no 'products.jar' file on the Forms 6i disc.
Can anyone please help me figure out how to get this Forms disc installed?!

Forms 6i have to installed on a separate oracle home than the oracle DB as it overwrites some dll files already existing in the 8i oracle home. Install Form 6i on a separate oracle home.
