Installing Oracle Pers. Ed 8.16 on Windows ME

Hi,
I have tried to install Oracle Pers. Ed 8.16 (win 98 version) on Windows ME a few times but it stalls dead right at the beginning. When I'm asked to specify the source and destination path; a pop up windows opens stating that a problem occured while trying to access the temporary zone (I was never asked to specify any info on this). The message goes on asking to verify the source and destination path.
The source path is :
C:\Program Files\ORACLE\STAGE\products.jar
The destination path is (as specified on page 49 of the documentation file (A85314-01.pdf):
C:\Program Files\ORACLE\ORA81
So what's wrong ?
Thank you very much for your help !

I'm having the same exact problem too!! A message popups verifying the source and destination.. I've specified the source as C:\Program Files\ORACLE\STAGE\products.jar and destination as c:\Program Files\ORACLE\ORA81... but still same message appears. Do I have to downgrade my OS to Windows 98 just to make this work? Please HELP before I do some stupid stuff.
Thanks in advance!

    Hi all ,
I want to install oracle 10.2.0.5 on windows 7 (32bits) but in the websit I found <B>"Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.5) Enterprise/Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows (64-bit Itanium)" [http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/10201winsoft64-090455.html] </B>, and in the documentation I found : <B>"Oracle Database and Oracle Database Client 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.5 or later) are supported on Windows 7 (32-bit and x64)."</B>.
Could you please tell me whether this oracle client for win 7 32bits or give me the link wher I can download oracle for win 7 32bits.
    Many thanks,

10.2.0.5 is a patchset that you will need to download from My Oracle Support. You will need a valid CSI with Oracle for you to download the patch. I suggest you to install the 11gR2 Client on Windows 7.
Can you please tell me which version of Oracle Server will you be interacting with using the 10.2.0.5 Client.

  • Installing Oracle Discoverer Reports 4.1 in Windows Vista

    Hi Guys............Greetings...
Can we install Oracle Discoverer Reports 4.1 in Windows Vista?
If not any patch available to install the same in WInsows VISTA?
    Thanks in advance.
    Dave Suresh

    Go to metalink
    Click on the Certify tab
Click on the second link "View certification by Platform"
If it isn't there then it is not certified.
That is the answer to the question you asked.
My advice is still that you get a decent operating system: Certified or not.

  • How to install oracle Forms and Report 10g in windows XP OS

How to install oracle Forms and Report 10g in windows XP OS. Already installed oracle Database 10g in my notebook.
    It is working good.
    please help me this issue.
    please give the steps..............
    Thanks

    Hello Frank,
for development, you need to install Oracle Developer
Suite 10g. This includes Forms and Reports.this topic interests me too, because I've downloaded Developer Suite and Database (both for 10g) from Oracle website, installed them, but I couldn't connect to a database.
What should be done for me to create a database link and be able to connect locally, in my personal Desktop computer? (Not to a server)
Once it was told me here that I should download 10g Database - I did it, and installed it, but it didn't work. Later, some of my job partners said I should install them in a sequence - that is, 1st the Developer, and 2nd the Database. But it has failed too. And I don't know how to configure a database connection.
    Best regards,

  • How to install Oracle Pers Edit 8i on Windows Me

Hi, i hope that sb would help on this:
I can't install the Oracle Personal Edition 8i on my pc. When I run setup wizard, after the first <next> of the first 'screen', I return to my desktop's view.
My system is an AMD processor at 400MHz with 98MB RAM and my platform is Windows Me.

    This is my problem...
I am installing Oracle 816 on Win 2K Server. Its installing everything except I am getting error while in the
process of creating Instance and Initializing it.
    I am getting
    Oracle Database Configuration Assistant Alert
    "ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed"
while in the process of copying database files and initializing database. And the process is halting
at this point with showing 85% completion. Do you think any conflict between OS files between Win 4.0
    and Win 2K?
What do I have to do to resolve this.
I tried to Install on 3 machines and I get this problem on all machines. But, when I Upgrade to Win 2K from NT 4.0 and doing the Oracle 816 Installation, I am succesfull.
This is happening only on fresh Install of Win 2K.

  • Steps to follow for Installing Oracle SOA 11g in 64 bit Windows 7 machine

    Hi,
I have successfully installed Oracle SOA 11g components in Windows 32 bit machine by following the downloading the installers for Windows 32 bit and following the steps mentioned in the Quick Start Guide for SOA Suite and BPM Suite.
Now I am trying to install Oracle SOA components in Windows 7 64 bit machine. Are the installation steps I followed for 32 bit is applicable for 64 bit too?Or are there any difference?
In the download section of installers,I could see one for 32 bit, linux and generic. Can you guide me which one I need to download for 64 bit machine?
    Thanks in advance.

I followed for 32 bit is applicable for 64 bit too?Or are there any difference?Steps followed for 32 bit installation would be same as for 64 bit. The only difference would be 64 bit JDK as it's required for win 7 to run the installation binaries of SOA Suite.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/java-se-jdk-7-download-432154.html
I could see one for 32 bit, linux and generic. Can you guide me which one I need to download for 64 bit machine? You can use even 32 bit installer for 64 bit machine ( it works like charm for DEV like environment)...
but as per Oracle doc they prefer to use generic installer.

  • Install Oracle 11g R2 64-bit on Windows 7 home premium

    Hi Guys
I'm a little pissed off.I've installed Oracle 11g R2 a few times now..on windows xp without any issues but the first time I've tried to install 11g R2 64-bit on my new laptop and it just won't work.
The installation goes just fine until step 4 System class and I chose Desktop class and the installation program just hangs.
    I've done the following steps
1: Installed Java SDK 6 update 31 in the following directory C:\Java\jdk1.6.0_31
2: I've also disabled User account control settings to never notify.
3: I've tried unzipping the two zip files separately and together with the same result.(hung installation)
4: updated java_home and path environment variables with the java sdk directory. (My path does have other values which have a space between directory names..ive tried
removing all those entries and just keeping the java directory entry but it still gave me the same error)
5: I always kick off the installation setup.exe file as an administrator.
    I'ld appreciate some help....

configure my report server as i require it to work with rdf files in spechial folders
i have done this installation more than i can remember in Windows 2003 R2 SP2 32 bit
but for Windows Server 2008 i am facing some problem that there is no software avilable for 64 bit or Windows 2008 in Oracle Download Site
Spechilaly when my server is not itanum !
Can any one point me to the right download page if avilable or another solution for this problem
i don't think that oracle have stopped support for this product spechilaly when the reports generated by Oracle Report Service is far to good and fast with Oracle Database
    Best Regards
    Ibrahim

    Hi Ibrahim,
You should decide what you require.
32bit version can be installed on 64bit server and this should work fine (check the certification matrix for this).
The "problem" is that you would not gain any performance benefit from the 64bit server
If you want to have benefit you can upgrade the JVM to 64 bit version.
I did this 3 years ago and I do not remember exact steps though everything worked OK.
    WARNING:
this  can be unsupported, ask support to be sure
    - Install the 32 bit version on the server
    - Download 64 bit Java JRE/JDK and install it (well, you can search the same release as included in the AppServer or try newer one, 7 for example)
    - later, reconfigure the appserver so it uses the version you've installed, OR Copy the everything from c:\progfiles\java\... to the directory OraHome\... (forgot exact directories)
try to search the forum, there had been a thread with the same question
    regards, michael

  • Want to install Oracle Developer Suite 10g R2 on Windows 7 (64-bit)

    Hi,
I have windows 7 (64-bit) installed on my laptop. I want to install Oracle developer suite 10g R2 on this machine but when I run the Oracle Universal Installer, it gives me error stating "operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1, 5.2. Actual 6.1 Failed<<<<

Can anyone please help me to solve this problem.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

Developer Suite 10 is not certified or supported to be installed on Win7 (64bit). Although it can be done, you will have problems later if you manage to get it installed. If you really want to have it on your Win7 laptop, I encourage you to install "Windows XP Mode", which is part of Windows Virtual PC. This is free to licensed Win7 users (does not apply to Home edition). Refer to the following:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/install-and-use-windows-xp-mode-in-windows-7

  • How to install oracle database 11g express edition on Windows 7

    Hi Guys,
i am trying to download and install Oracle database 11g express edition on windows7 and i can't seem to get it right. i did get the download but when i try to install, it keeps saying it appears to be an invalid archive.
    Please help..

Action - Refer to the logs or contact OracleFinding the problem is the key. "Refer to the logs" is the only option, XE has no oracle support offerings.
Which plugin failed, and why did it fail will be important clues. There should be error messages in the log that will be helpful.
Otherwise, we don't have much help to offer. Fixing a problem means identifying the problem and performing steps to correct it, if there a fix is available.
A MOS lookup on the ins-20802 error has snippets from one installer session, this one is from an x64 install. Not x86. To paraphrase the details:
    ... Created a new file <drive>:<OH path>\cfgtoollogs\configToolAllCommands
    SEVERE: java.io.IOException: Access is denied
...So from those symptoms, the user trying to run the installer does not have appropriate rights on that drive and/or folder. The fix for that particular problem is adding the user to the local administrators group. And rerunning the install. After running the deinstall steps to clean up the installation. As specified in the XE install guide for Windows.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/install.112/e18803/toc.htm
Also note the System Requirements, it specifies a System architecture Intel x86, which is not X64. There is no X64 installer for XE on Windows. So it might work. Or it might not if your host is x64.
So if that is your particular error, verify that your user is in the local admins group. Either use the local users and groups applet (Start/Run/lusrmgr.msc) and open up the Administrators group. Click the Add button. Find your user. If your OS user is a windows domain user, be sure you have authenticated to the domain.
Try the `net ...` list of the adminis group, that should reveal whom is indeed in the local administrators group:
    net localgroup administrators
    Administrator
    <domain>\Domain Admins ... # ??? is the host in windows domain ???
    <domain>\Local Admins
    <domain>\<user1>
    <user2>
    <user3>
    echo %USERNAME%
    # if relevant:
echo %USERDOMAIN%Like it also states in the Windows install guide, under Permission Required quote:
... must be a member of the Administrators group on Windows to install Oracle Database XE.

Are you Installing Enterprise Edition of Oracle 10.2.0.4 64bit ?
    Yes I am installing ORACLE-10.2-rdbms 64bit.

Also refer this SAP Note 1303262 - Oracle on Windows Server 2008 along with the Installation Guide.
Yes I did refer to note 1303262.
I did fundet Note 980426 - Oracle 10.2 Software installation on new operating systems from a link you give me.
There is 4 workaround but I do not know this can help me.
I make a copy of installation cdu2019es on my server and I try to install oracle from there.

Vmware is available for both Windows & Linux.
Secondly you have to decide whether you want the guest OS (OS on which you would configure RAC) to be Windows or Linux ?
And before everything, check your PC configuration. As Tim mentions in those articles, to run this setup, you need lots of RAM n power.
Perhaps 4 GB of RAM and Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz + processor. If you are not having an appropriate configuration, it may not even run properly or your might hit memory dump errors on host OS.
