Installing Oracle SQL loader in Oracel Client
Hi
Our Customer does not have SQL Loader in Oracle client
I want to add Oracle SQL loader to the Oracle Client.
Is there any solution other than uninstalling the present oracle client and
re-installing the oracle client with SQL loader
Regards
Kandakuru
Thanks a lot Kristian
I will try with the oracle universal installer

I am looking at doing some re-factoring on data load process for inventory feed. Current process takes over an hour to process the file.
My thought is to go down this road
1. Using Oracle SQL Loader - load the inventory data into a temp table
2. Using a view to create the differences between ATG Inventory repository and what is in the temp table
3. Using the results to update the ATG Inventory stock levels
So questions are
1. Is it possible to call the Oracle SQL Loader from a ATG service component - if so how?
2. Would it be better/faster/possible to create the difference when loading the temp tables
3. How to create ATG view?user7047382 wrote:
Hello,
I am trying to load a CSV file located on my C:\ drive on a WIndows XP system into an 'external table'. Everyting used to work correctly when using Oracle XE (iinstalled also locally on my WIndows system).
However, once I am trynig to load the same file into a Oracle 11g R2 database on UNIX, I get the following errr:
ORA-29913: Error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEOPEN callout
ORA-29400: data cartridge error
error opening file ...\...\...nnnnn.log
Please let me know if I can achieve the same functionality I had with Oracle XP.
(Note: I cannot use SQL*Loader approach, I am invoking Oracle stored procedures from VB.Net that are attempting to load data into external tables).
Regards,
M.R.So your database is on a unix box, but the file is on your Windows desktop machine? So .... how is it you are making your file (on your desktop) visible to your database (on a unix box)??????? -
Oracle 9i - did not install with SQL Loader
Installed Oracle 9i (standard, personal would not install) on XP home edition but SQL Loader did not come this this and I would like to import to 9i. How can I accomplish this? I can not locate any tools included in the installation.
Thank you!!!I think the SQL Loader do not come with Oracle personal edition, at least it didn't on my 8.0.x personal edition before.
But I think there are few options:
1. You may install Enterprise edition administrator client on the same machine. It comes with some admin tools like sql loader (sqlldr or sometime it may be some different name with different version). Be very careful on versions, if it may conflick with your existing version, you may consider to install to a new Oracle home and make sql net connection to connect your personal edition's home and then sql load.
2. The faster way and the prefered way is to install ODBC driver, use some other Windows application like FoxPro to read a file and insert into Oracle via ODBC.
3. Use Oracle Forms to connect your database and use Text I/O commands to read file and then insert into database.
Hope this help. -
Adding sql loader into 11g Client already installed
I have already installed Oracle 11g client and need to add in sql loader. How is that best accomplished?
Easier than I thought. Just go back into the previous oracle client home install and the preinstalled items will be greyed out. Just add additional components you want to install.

No SQL*Loader in Instant Client; any alternatives?
My Windows application uses SQL*Loader to bulk-load very large data files. Instant Client appears not to include SQL*Loader.
Is there an alternative to SQL*Loader that my application should be using instead? And (getting greedy here) does the same alternative work in both Oracle 10 and Oracle 9?
Thank you for any assistance,
BrettOracle XE has sqlldr. You can set it as the client environment unless you want to install the full Oracle client (of course can do custom installation) and then use for loader. You can configure your tnsnames.ora for the target database and that should work.

Dumb question re Sql Loader in XP Client
Hi all,
I have a rather silly question. Previously I've worked exclusively in a Unix environment, but now find myself in XP.
I've done the full install of the Windows client for XP, but SQL*Loader is missing. I've RTFM'd, but can't find the necessary section. How do I get sql*loader installed in the XP environment?
Thanks (and apologies) in advanceIF you are talking of the 9i version, there should be the three database install disks (that contain both the database and the client tools). When you run the installer from the first disk from this set, you will have the option of installing the client tools (including SQL*Loader).

I have an weblogic server installed on a server, now i have to install oracle Forms 11g in client system. its ask me weblogic server path whatever i try, its ask weblogic on client. what is the solution how installation of Oracle 11g form connect with weblogic server."
Problem 2.

1. I Installed JDK 6 (64bit).
2. Installed Weblogic Server. (its work fine)
3. Now i m installing Oracle forms 11g 64(-bit). its show me an error (INST-07407: Unable to detect machine platform or JVM bits)
please help me out. waiting for your positive reply.3. Now i m installing Oracle forms 11g 64(-bit). its show me an error (INST-07407: Unable to detect machine platform or JVM bits)It looks like you are installing the 32-bit version of Oracle Fusion Middleware (FMw) 11g - not the 64-bit version. As a test, install the 32-bit JRE and run the FMw installer again. If it continues past this point - you've got the 32-bit installer and not the 64-bit installer. :)

Use of SQL*Loader and Thin Client
I have a java application that is currently using the thin client. For portability issues, I am unable to use an OCI driver. My application also uses SQL*Loader.
My big issue is that The Thin client requires the HOST and SID for a connection.
But, for SQL*Loader to work in a client/server environment it needs to use the SERVICE_NAME and net8. Is there any way to have SQL*Loader use similar information that the thin client is using?
I know the right solution is to use the OCI drivers, but right now that is not feasible.
Thanks for any help in advance
Jeff McNurlan
Navigation Technologies.I assume you are using an ObjectInputStream. Without seeing your code or a snippet I can't be certain...
The JDBC spec says the following about ObjectInputStream :
"An ObjectInputStream deserializes primitive data and objects previously written using an ObjectOutputStream"
Since there was nothing written by ObjectOutputStream, ObjectInputStream has nothing to deserialize and this exception would be raised. -
Calling oracle SQL Loader from java program
Hi,
I want to insert data into oracle tables from a text files containing fixed length fields. I am using SQLLoader to achieve this. The requirement is to call the SQLLoader within the java program.
Does anyone know how to call SQL Loader from java program?
Thanks,
VarshaSimply "exec" the sqlldr program with the parameters you need to pass to it.
Runtime.exec (........)
Try to pass all parameters needed including the username and password, and use the option "silent" to avoid output, and the option "log" to have a log file of the modifications that sqlldr has done to the database. -
Hi...
i am having Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production.
Question is:
we have a table 'T' in ABC database.
we need to load data from txt file to tabel T.
here the requirement is we need to skip few columns in this process.
let me go in clear....
data:
A,1234,ap,xyz
B,2345,TN,WER
C,4567,KA,We
D,5678,MH,show
now i want to laod data into T like
col1, col2, col3
A, 1234, ap
B,2345, TN
i need to skip the data after last comma.(at the same time we should not fill with nulls)
How come we achieve?
Thanks,

<CONTACT Location_id="1">

what modification is required in the script to read such xml...Kindly Help!!And in what way does this relate to SQL and PL/SQL?
There is a demo of loading XML in Morgan's Library under SQL*Loader.
But as your question is off-topic here ... if the demo does not help you please continue this by starting a thread in the correct forum: Database General.

options (bindsize=400000)
load data
infile '1377.bmp' "fix 17"
append
concatenate 50000
into table PER_IMAGES
(image_id constant 2004,
image raw(811254),
parent_id constant 1377,
table_name constant "PER_PEOPLE_F")
The above is my control file
The file I am trying to load is a bmp file of size 811254 bytes
unfortunately the size is larger than 64 K hence I have to concatenate it
It cannot be broken into equal pieces
hence I decided to break it into size 50000 bytes each and tried to load 17 pieces and concatenate it as suggested by
metalink
However it does not work
The error message I get is as follows
SQL*Loader-501: Unable to read file (1377.bmp)
SQL*Loader-566: partial record found at end of datafile
SQL*Loader-2026: the load was aborted because SQL Loader cannot continue.
Any clues ?Hi,
Please see if there documents help.

Installing Oracle SQL taglibrary
Hi Guys,
how would i
1.) Download (from where) and
2.) deploy the necessary files (which are necessary, where to deploy in my installation?)
to enable me using in my JSP pages the Oracle SQL taglib ?
The dvelopment environment would be IIS/Tomcat and later on the production machine Oracle iAS 9 Release 2.
Stumbled on a lot of descriptions for using the taglib, but nowhere i found how actually to deploy the files, and where to get them from.
Thanks a lot, ChrisCarl, you can download "Oracle Application Server Container for J2EE" following the link
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/index.html
Any version will generally do. You can find the file j2ee/home/jsp/lib/taglib/ojsputil.jar once you unzip the downloaded file, oc4j_extended.zip.
To be able to use them, simply put the ojsputil.jar in your WEB-INF/lib and ensure that class12.zip is in your classthpath. Then you can use them in your jsp like
<%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/j2ee/jsp/tld/ojsp/sqltaglib.tld" prefix="sql" %>
<sql:dbOpen dataSource='<%=request.getParameter("datasource") %>' connId="con1" />
For more information, see
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10464_05/web.904/b10319/dataacc.htm#1005996
Having said that much, I would like to point out:
1. Why not use Jdeveloper? Download Jdeveloper and use its online help to find all the answer to your questions. It will be much quicker and easier to get you jump started. Jeveloper also support Tomcat. You can import Oracle JSP tag library into a project with a few clicks of your mouse.
2. Any partiular reason to use Oracle SQL taglib? The following is the Oracle official standing:
The custom SQL tag library provided with OC4J pre-dates the JavaServer Pages Standard Tag Library (JSTL) and has areas of duplicate functionality. For standards compliance, it is now generally advisable to use JSTL instead. See "Support for the JavaServer Pages Standard Tag Library".
Oracle is not desupporting the existing library, however. For features in the custom library that are not yet available in JSTL, where there seems to be general usefulness, Oracle will try to have the features adopted into the JSTL standard as appropriate.
Hope this helps. -
Oracle SQL Loader - External Table
This is my code:-
CREATE TABLE GLO_CUST_EXT
(SOURCE_ID CHAR(3),
BUS_DT CHAR(8),
TRAN_CD CHAR(1),
CUST_CD NUMBER(10),
MNEMONIC CHAR(10),
SHORT_NM CHAR(255))

FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|'
(SOURCE_ID ,
BUS_DT ,
TRAN_Cd ,
CUST_CD,
MNEMONIC,
SHORT_NM))
LOCATION ('GBCUS.txt'))
REJECT LIMIT 0;
Question:
Would like how to load the data by selected field?
Example:
I want to all these fields (SOURCE_ID , BUS_DT , TRAN_CD ,
CUST_CD, SHORT_NM) except the MNEMONIC. Thank you.Mohan Nair,
This is my code:
CREATE TABLE GLO_CUST_EXT5

SHORT_NM CHAR(255))

FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|'
(SOURCE_ID ,
BUS_DT ,
TRAN_Cd ,
CUST_CD,
MNEMONIC FILLER,
SHORT_NM))
LOCATION ('GBCUS.txt'))
REJECT LIMIT 0;
I'm using Oracle 10g. I execute this code using TOAD version 8.5.0.50.
I can create the external table, but when i used simple select statement
(select * from GLO_CUST_EXT5), i got this error:
