In the following url:

the Jdeveloper's add-in for developing Text application is downloadable....
My question is: The zip file titled: "TextWizard10.1.0.3.0.1_jar.zip" for JDeveloper 10g is for JDeveloper 10.1.2.0 or 10.1.3.0.1 or none of these versions...????????

How to install Oracle text in 10g database.

I need to install Oracle text in a 10g database which is a pre-requisite for Application express 3.1.1.I checked for the user CTXSYS user in the database and i did not find that.

If you dont see CTXSYS user, you have to use the OUI to install the Oracle text. You have to connect as sys to do it. See the metalink post below,

Error In Installing Oracle Text

Hi All.
I tried to install Oracle TEXT from sys using catctx.sql file
SQL> @$ORACLE_HOME/ctx/admin/catctx.sql CTXSYS SYSAUX TEMP NOLOCK
SQL> connect CTXSYS/password
SQL> @$ORACLE_HOME/ctx/admin/defaults/drdefus.sql but I've got error like
select object_name, object_type, status from dba_objects where owner='CTXSYS' and status != 'VALID' order by object_name;and output is
OBJECT_NAME     OBJECT_TYPE     STATUS
DRVODM     PACKAGE BODY     INVALIDand output of following query is
select comp_name, status, substr(version,1,10) as version from dba_registry where comp_id = 'CONTEXT';
COMP_NAME     STATUS     VERSION
Oracle Text     INVALID     10.1.0.4.0I've spooled output of installation.
Let me know what I'm missing in this installation?

Thanks Barbara for trying to help me.
It shows many errors that synonym already exists, may be because I tried to reinstall.
Along with that it has following things

I'm attempting to create the neccessary object for the CTXSYS user and am missing the LIBCTXX*.* file. Where do I find it?

That is true... if you created your database under some conditions (using the assintent, for instance)

I'm not quite sure what you are asking for. Oracle Text is part of the database.

Installing Oracle TEXT and XML DB Components on New Instance

I was told this may be the best place to ask my quesion
I have set up a New Instance or Oracle on a Solaris Unix box that already had Oracle 10g installed.
The instance was created fine, however I need the Oracle Text Component and XML DB Component installed as well.
Those are not installed with this instance. They are installed on the other instance on the box that was setup when oracle was first installed.
How can I add these components to this new instance?
DBCA was not used when the instance was created. The DBA here does not care for this tool.

the installation of Text is described on Metalink in document 280713.1.
A nice document to start is on Metalink, it is document 472937.1. It gives Oracle components and the links how to install the components on different versions of Oracle.

How do I install ORACLE TEXT

I have an Oracle installation (win64_11gR1_database_111070.zip) on a Windows Server 2008 x64.
I am trying to restore a dmp file to the new oracle installation. The dump file was created using Oracle Ent. 8.1.7.
When restoring the dump file everything is working fine until the VIEW tables need to be created.
I get this error message:
ORA-20000: Oracle Text error:
DRG-11422: linguistic initialization failed
DRG-11446: supplied knowledge base file C:\app\Administrator\product\11.1.0\db_1\ctx\data\enlx\droldUS.dat not installed
Searching online I need to install the ORACLE TEXT. However, I am not able to find it anywhere. It supposed to come on the companion cd, but I just can't find it anywhere.
Can someone just give me a direct link to download it.

Installing Oracle Text on a running Oracle 9.2 DB on AIX

A third party set up and configured our Oracle installation some years ago. I have a requirement for using Oracle text to speed up searches (although of course I need to trial it to see if speed improvements justify additional storage, etc).
My problem is that I just don't know where to begin the install. We are patched to 9.2.0.6.0 which was done by another third party on our behalf.
I have test databases but only one, live Oracle installation.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Using Oracle Text for searching with UCM 10g

I am using Oracle text with UCM 10gR3 and Site Studio 10gR4 and I am trying to sort the search results by relevancy and to also include a snippet of the retrieved document. I have the fields that the SS_GET_SEARCH_RESULTS service returns but the relevancy score is always equals 5 and the snippet contains characters such as < idcnull, /p, etc., which you can see are XML/HTML/UCM tags but which result sin even more strangeness in the snippet if I try to remove them programmatically.
I have read the Oracle Text documentation and there appear to be ways you can configure Oracle Text but I am not clear at all on what I can do from UCM. It looks like the configuration is either done in database tables or in the query itself, neither of which are readily configurable to me.
Is anyone experienced in this or know of any documentation this might help?

If I remember correctly then this issue was seen with an older version of OTS component and Core Update patch / bundle . Upgrade the UCM instance with the latest CS10gr35 update bundle patchset 6907073 and also upgrade OTS component from the same patchset .

Error while running Oracle 11i OA page in JDeveloper 10g.

I have to do some customization in isupplier page. The page is working well in Oracle 11i instance. Now we are upgrading the Oracle 11i to R12. So I check out the entire project (i copied whole myprojects folder) and try to run the same project in Jdeveloper10g (I use proper jdeveloper patch). While compiling the project I got following error. Seems to be some class files are missing. But I don’t know how to fix it. Any help pls?

You don't need the companion CD to install Oracle Text.
Oracle Text is installed by default if you have created your database using DBCA.
However, if your database has been installed manually you may need to install this feature additionally.
In order to check if the feature is already present check if CTXSYS schema exists:
SQL> select username
2 from dba_users
3 where username='CTXSYS';
USERNAME
CTXSYS

I can't find the Metalink manual install docs for Oracle Text and XDB. For unknown reasons the DB was created with out them. I see the docs for 9i and 10g, but not 11g.

Upgrade Oracle Text 8i to 10g

Hi,
I have to upgrade a database 8i in Sun to Linux 10g, I know that I have to upgrade via export/import but I don't know how to migrate Oracle text.
In the new server I have installed oracle text, but I don't know if i need to make and export/import of CTXSYS user or if I need to recreate all indexes in the new database ...

Hi,
it safer to make CTXSYS user in 10g with 10g options, then export and import tables for indexes, then make new indexes. But you have to test it and find if Oracle Text work the same way for you application as on 8i.

Oracle Text with Oracle Lite 10G?

I would like to be able to perform text searches in my OLITE 10g R2 database. Is is possible to install Oracle Text for use with OLITE? If so, how to I install it -- do I use the manual procedure described elsewhere, by taking the script files from an Oracle Enterprise or Standard Edition installation, and running those scripts against my OLITE db?
