Installing oracle10g on Fedora fails

Hi,
I gave up trying to install oracle9i on Fedora. But when I
tried to install 10g on fedora today, I ran into the same
kind of errors as with 9i.
I have read puschitz and oracle-base as well as other docs
and I also pass the pre-requisites test of the OUI
I am now confused as to why everytime I get to the linking
stage, the following do not link:
ins_precomp, ins_sql, ins_ldap, ins_rdbms, ins_nau, ETC...
(9i Note: The fixes in puschitz's page for ins_precomp and
ins_sql do not work for me nor do the fixes for
ins_oemagent and inv_ctx) and there is no mention
anywhere on the web for other errors like ins_rdbms, ldap,
nau, and more..
What could be the problem? Can someone assist please?
Thanks

I've successfuly installed oracle10g on Fedora core1 but before that I update all packages mentioned in
http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle10g.shtml to latest versions(using yup).
Regards.

  • Installing oracle10g on two servers with same databae

    Dear DBAs
I have two servers and one SCSI SATA box as storage device which i have configured in RAID5 format. Servers are connected to channel 0 and 1 of the SATA box respectively. My OS is RHEL ES-4
I want to install Oracle10g on these two machines with SATA box as the Databse Storage medium. I donot want to use RAC as my clients donot have DBA. The servers has to be configured in a failsafe method.

    hi gert
the SATA SCSI box is LSI Logic Megaraid sas 8408E. My aim is to have a backup server which needs to be switched on once the main server fails. I can afford for a little bit data loss. Only thing is the backup server should use the data files of the crashed server.

Numerous attempts at a clean install of iTunes have failed.  I am running Win7 64 bit on a Toshiba L series Satellite w/8G RAM and 100  G HDD space.  Error message was (-42404), but following a complete (recommended) uninstall am now getting "Error 7".  The prior uninstall included the establishment of administrator rights to files and folders left in the Apple folder after running the uninstaller, and successfully removing ALL visible and hidden Apple files and folders.
Any other suggestions out there folks?

On Oracle Metalink site, there are many documents which says that Oracle 32 bit software works on 32 bits OS and 64 bits software works on 64 bits OS. Official support is only in those combination....
So there is no good way to help you in your case-XE is 32 bit application with hard codded compiled libraries which most of them would not work on 64 bit OS.

  • Install of Flash 10 failing - "run preflight script" - Mac OS X 10.5.6

I tried to install Flash 10  - and it asks me to close the "Dashboard Client" of Mac OS X and after I click close on the flash install window, the installation fails. A message says that the failure occurs during "run preflight script" and to contact the software developer.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any fixes or way around it?!

Got the problem as well, a little bit frustrating, i have the problem with BOTH flash 10 and photoshop elements 3 why isn't adobe willing to help us? I think this is quite dissapointing when you take into account the software costs ±$100 I also have Mac OSX 10.5.7

  • HT5381 I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and attempting to upgrade to Mavericks....installation completes and a message appears stating that my computer will restart in x seconds.  I then get a message "Application install OS X Mavericks failed to quit". A

IMac upgrade from Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to Mavericks errors by failing to restart computer........after install message states that "your computer is restarting in x seconds"...then window appears that "application install OS x Mavericks failed to quit"...try to log out again, quit install OS x Mavericks and choose apple menu to log out...........this does not work!

Are you running OS X Server (the forum this question was posted in), or are you running OS X?  If you're not sure what that difference is and why I'm asking it, then you're probably running OS X and are very likely not running OS X Server here.
Hopefully you have a pre-upgrade backup of your data, on the off chance something has either already gone badly wrong already, or if something goes wrong with the following...
To force the quit here and to force the shutdown here, press and hold the power button for ~10 seconds.
If you don't have a backup already and if the box doesn't reboot, then you'll want to boot from the 10.6 DVD (of OS X or OS X Server) and create a backup — it won't be a particularly good backup of the OS X or OS X Server system, but at least you'll have access to your own files and related data.  This backup because recovering from a badly-failed upgrade might involve reinstalling OS X.

for windows you should have an exe and a 7z file.  put both in the same directory and double click the exe.

  • Formating a Dell server for installing oracle10g

    hi all,
I want to install oracle10g Rel2 in my dell SERVER . but before installation i want to format my server because i just want Opering System and Oracle database at this server nothing else. but my network administrator told me formating a server decrease the efficieny of the server so install oracle without formating the system. IS it true ?? because i don't believe that formating a system decrease its effeciency.
    Regards

That's no bad idea. XP Professional is still a desktop system, appropriate for doing homework. You should run Oracle on a server system, in the documentation (installation guide) there are some hints, which Windows components you don't need for running Oracle on the system.

  • Can I install Oracle10g AS R2 in WIndows XP Pro?

    Hi,
Just to confirm is it really true that we cannot install Oracle10g AS R2 in Windows XP Pro?
The things I need from application server are:
    - plsql support for web application
    - oracle discoverer
    - oracle reports server
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

Fyi, we definitely need Oracle application server to serve the PL/SQL based web application that we have been using for many years. Reason is only Oracle Application server supports this.
Basically what I would like to know is whether can install 10g AS R2 in Windows XP Pro as I read somewhere that only certain components like j2ee can be installed in XP.
    Thanks.
