Installing Oracle8i and Designer

I am new to the installation side of Oracle and am attempting to intsall and get running Oracle8i, Designer, Forms and Reports on my NT based Laptop (Basically the package given out at iDevelop2000 (Melbourne)).
So far I have Oracle8i running but cannot get Designer, PLSQL or SQLLDR to work properly (can't resolve TNSNames issues).
The installed directories I used are:
c:\Oracle\Ora81 for Oracle8i
c:\Oracle\OraDes for Designer, Forms & Reports.
I have multiple Oracle Homes 'OraHome81' and 'OraHomeDes'.
Searching the Discussion Groups revealed topic '8i on NT Listener stops working...' which sort of suggests that I may not have installed the products in the correct order. Could you please confirm what sequence I should load the products in and whether a full reinstall would be my best solution.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if I need to give any more details.

The order of installation is (if the
client and server on the same machine)
1.Oracle Designer client software(in default oracle home)
2.Oracle Developer
2.oracle 8i database in (into sepearte oracle 8i home)
3.Designer repository
Designer installation code does not support multiple oracle home.Designer can only be installed in the default OracleHome.

Problems Installing Web and Design Premium Suite

Hi:
I need help. I purchased a student and teacher's verision of Web and Design Suite and was given a download link with 4 files- 3 exe files and 1 file (7z)- which is listed under file listing as a ZIP file. I have successfully downloaded all files. 2 of the 4 files open okay. These are the Illustrator and In Design font files. My default saving location is my desktop so both these folders appear there.
The problem is the Web and Design. exe file and the 4.5gb Web and Design 7z file. when clicked the exe file says- A problem occured while extracting some files, check available space on your computer and write privilleges on the destination folders. I tried changing the destination folders - not using my desktop as the final destination but this does not work. The file space on my computer is more than sufficient. For the 7s file when I click on it, it activiates Winzip but says it cannot open, does not seem to be a vaild archive.
I really need help urgent and need this programme to begin a course

WHen you install something using the Oracle Universal Installer [OUI], it updates the 'inventory' and the appropriate Oracle Home.
In addition, you may have created databases - often these are created using the database configuration assistant [dbca]. dbca is called by OUI if you request database to be created during install of software.
Depending on a number of factors, a deinstall may involve
- drop any instances using dbca (or manually);
- use OUI to remove software
- physically remove the Oracle Home[s]
- physically remove the Oracle Inventory
- remove the Oracle software and files in other locations such as /usr/local/bin, /opt and /var/opt
You may also want to check on metalink for the final details in your environment.

How to install oracle8i and 9ias in one machine.

I need u help. I should install both product in one machine. and should 9ias should be enterprise version.

For NT here are the steps.
First you install 817 database say in home orahome1. Your database should be up and runningbefore insatlling iAS
See that you pagesize(swapfile) is >= 500MB
Then install iAS in a different home. iAs 10220 will list two homes (default is 806 and iSuites)
Give the required parameters when prompted.
If you give me more info as to which version of ias platform and what is your requirement then I can be more clear

CS6 Web and Design Premium install

I have CS6 Design Standard installed and upgraded to CS6 Web and Design Premium version. Do I need to uninstall the Design Standard before installing Web and Design Premium or can I install directly on top of the Design Standard version.
Trying to avoid the 30-40 minutes or longer to uninstall and reinstall the application, etc.

No need to uninstall. The installer will take care of matters. Just make sure to deactivate your previous product. You can also run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool so the new install will work as if nothing ever was on teh system...

Installing 8i, Developer2000, Designer Failled again Help

I installed 8i on NT with Svc pack4. No Problem.
Installed Developer, added the IFWCM60.dll to orant/bin from the extras on the CD to fix a SVC pack 4 problem.
Problem - forms will not always respond. I am starting to think that Forms 6 does not work.
I started again, clean NT machine, Installed 8i, developer 6, patch 1 6.05.29.4. Made sure my TNSnames were OK and placed the same copy in orant/net80/admin, Changed SQLnet to OLD. When I try to invoke forms directly sometimes it connects sometimes it doesnot. If I bring up procedure builder first it will likely start when I click on Forms.
Installed designer, Installed the repository, everything works great except forms. Can not generate a module, Can not call forms from run with out the nt machine hanging up. When I generate a module, the generator never gets past initialization.
It all seems to point to forms can anyone point out that I am making an error or that I just does not work!

First install Developer and Designer. Finally Oracle 815.

Also before installing Please go to Applications-->Utilities--> Adobe installers and if there is any uninstaller for CS5.5 , you can remove it and do a fresh install.
You can also use creative cloud cleaner tool before installing.

How to install and authorize cs6 web and design on alternate computer when original computer died ?

The motherboard on my original computer got fried but I could install the hard drive in another computer. How do I reauthorize my cs6 web and design on the new computer as I am not able to deactivate from original computer ?

Installing BO Explorer and Design Studio

Hello Experts,
I installed BI 4.1 SP2 Client tools on my laptop: BI 4.1 SP2, Crystal reports 2013, Dashboards SP2 and SAP Lumira and all are successfully installed.
I am trying to install BO Explorer but asking me CMS port number and Administrator Password, just want to confirm if the BO Explorer needs to be installed on BO Server? since we want the tool to be used by our super users to develop and i assume it can be installed on developer laptops.
Also, I am trying to install Design Studio 1.2( downloaded all 4 parts) after running the file for design studio 1.2_1 its looking for design studio 1.3 instead of design studio 1.2_2, could you please confirm design studio installation also if it goes as part of client tools?

Hi Kris,
You will be able to access Explorer with URL http://<server name>:8080/explorer The Explorer web app will be deployed on Tomcat post install.
The Design Studio 1.3 is also available to download and I think it has a separate server and client installer. It could be a case that Design Studio 1.3 is compatible with BI 4.1. So I would suggest to try installing Design Studio 1.3

Older Macs with a single Harddrive would simply expand OS management on the drive, and I think I understand the new Fusion Drive to do just that, but how do I get this product that I spent a great deal of money on to be more than a pretty screen?

OS X manages ram and when you run out, it create swapfiles to extend your ram on the HDD (Hard Disk Drive). The OS itself, takes about 16 gig of space and that too resides on the HDD. Your 16 gig of RAM is really a temporary space that holds things from the HDD so the processor can work on them. There is no design flaw between your ram and HDD. Something else is going on and there are a lot of smart people here to help you figure out what that "something else" is.
I would do three things. First I would create a backup, backups are important. Second, I would reboot into recovery and repair my HDD. Lastly while still booted in recovery I would repair permissions.
Can you capture a screen shot of the exact error you are getting?

I don't know if you are on a personal PC/Mac or on a large environment. On my case I'm trying to use AAMEE to package and SCCM 2012 to deploy it over a considerable number of 64bits machines.
So, I have created a Deployment using AAMEE and one of the Exceptions was AdobeHelp. The command line that was provided on the Exceptionsinfo.txt after building the package is:

With the normal AAMEE package I will not be able to install all the Exceptions so I created a CMD file with a sequence to install the main MSI and then the Exceptions. To the provided command before mentioned I included the following:

My sequence goes well but then when trying to install AdobeHelp it sends an error that it can't find -silent and seems that it got frozen as it's still runing the installation as I'm writing.
If someone has any idea please share it with us as this could be an error on AAMEE with the command that it was provided to me after creating the deployment package.

Thanks for the help. I installed CC and it fixed everything but Photoshop. I guess I will have to use my old laptop for images until Adobe fixes the problem. Do you know of a place where we can send issues like these to Adobe?
