Installing, Oracle8i does not Create a database

Hi,
When installing Oracle8i Personal Edition in my PC, it does create a database. However, it does show the screen that it is creating a database with the message "database creation in progress".
First, I thought it may take a long time to create a database. So I left the PC on from a few hours to a WHOLE WEEK: 4 hrs, for a day, 1.5 days and finally the whole week. Nothing works and NO RESULT.
Please somebody help me and tell me what I did wrong.
Thank you.

Hi Marc,
I followed your instructions and tried to reinstall Oracle8i by:
- deinstalling the exisiting Oracle8i
- deleting all the Oracle8i base, home and other directoreis and the files
- rebooting the PC
- reinstalling the Oracle8i (excluding the SQL+ Help files
Then I:
- accepted all the default values for dabase parameters
- let the PC on for more than 12 hours
- Still no result
I have Pentium II 350MHz with 128Mb RAM.
Do you know anyone who can help me ?
Thanks.

  • Secure Store Service Application takes a lot of time and does not create the database

    Hi everybody,
I was trying to configure sharepoint performance point and I was following the instruction. After I created the performance point services application I tried to creat the secure store service application. When I do this, the progress window stays open forever
even after 2 hours. If I close the window, I will see that the secure store service and proxy app is created and the application pool also is created in IIS but the database is not and the application service is stopped. even when I want to delete it, it's
the same story and the progress window stays until I close it manually. Nothing has been logged in the event viewer because it doesn't throw any exceptions.
I don't think that I have permission issues on the database server side because I have created the performance point service app and the database is there. I have used the same credentials to crete the secure store.
I have restarted the secure store service and IIS for many times and even the server itself.
I'm wondering if anybody has had this issue because I couldn't find anything on the web.
    Thanks,
    Edwin

Alex, please ignore my previous answer. I found more information in the ULS. At the time that I started creating the service application by power shell these things are logged and they are repeated several times:

  • Essbase install for 11.1.2.0 does not create opmn.xml

We are currently doing a test install of EPM 11.1.2.0 and are having a specific problem. Foundation services are all installed and running fine but the Essbase install seems to not create the necessary opmn files so we can't start it. No opmn.xml is created in
    user_projects/epmsystem1/config/OPMN/opmn
in fact nothing at all is created in there and so opmnctl complains that it can't find opmn.xml.
OPMN is running and controls OHS without problems. We also noticed that the Essbase configuration creates an empty opmnctl.bat script in the scripts directory. This is not a permissions issue, we are running the installer as admin. We have tried configuring Essbase in a cluster and not in a cluster with the same problem.

Yes, it is 2008 R2 and I know it's not officially supported yet. We're just running it to get some information for when we install if for real with 11.1.2.1 comes out ... I think it might be related to the fact that Essbase can't contact the Foundation services db or something like this - the installer logs seem to suggest that it aborts before getting to the opmn creation phase. I need to check the logs in more detail. Here is what is in the leasemanager_essbase_<hostname>.log which is written when running the configuration of Essbase:
    [2011-02-14T12:22:14.101-11:22] ESSBASE / Info (1320009)
Attempt to connect to database failed with error [[DataDirect][ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver][Oracle]TNS-12514: TNS:listener could not resolve SERVICE_NAME given in connect descriptor].
    [2011-02-14T12:22:14.554-11:22] ESSBASE / Error (1320010)
Database operation failed with error [[DataDirect][ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver]String data code page conversion failed. Error in parameter 1.].
It seems that Essbase tries to get an OPMN lease by writing to the Shared Services repository using the ODBC driver and this fails with the above errors. It then shuts down and doesn't get as far as writing the opmn.xml file.

  • Short dump 'Table does not exist in database'

    Hello All,
When a report is executing it is going to short dump by saying 'Table does not exist in database'. As per the short dump analysis this issue is happening because of the following   Native SQL statement statement :
Program :  %_T050N0 (This is a dynamic  program generating by SAP )
    Form Name :  DYN_LIC_SEL_TOT
    exec sql performing LOOP_MOVE_WRITE_ISAP.
    select single_plate, itm_num, ctry_code, model_lot,
    lic_hold_flg, qty into :dcat-lplate, :dcat-matnr,
    :dcat-werks, :dcat-charg, :dcat-holdflag,
    :dcat-qty from ZLICENSE_R2 where itm_num   = :p_matnr and
                    model_lot = :p_charg
    endexec.
As per the customer this issue occurring since they migrated the SAP  back-end data base from Oralce to DB6. Here I felt that ZLICENSE_R2 is not migrated from the  Oracle to DB6. But as per the BASIS Team, even this table was not maintained in Oracle also. If the table was not maintained in the Oracle, this issue should have been there even before migration also.
Following is the short dump details:
    Short text
Table does not exist in database.
    What happened?
The table or view name used does not
        exist in the database.
The error occurred in the current database connection "DEFAULT".
    What can you do?
Check the spelling of the table names in your report.
Note down which actions and inputs caused the error.
To process the problem further, contact you SAP system
        administrator.
Using Transaction ST22 for ABAP Dump Analysis, you can look
at and manage termination messages, and you can also
keep them for a long time.
    Error analysis
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_NATIVE_SQL_ERROR', was not
         caught in
procedure "DYN_LIC_SEL_TOT" "(FORM)", nor was it propagated by a RAISING
    clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
    Triggering SQL statement: "select single_plate, itm_num, ctry_code, model_lot,
    lic_hold_flg, qty from ZLICENSE_R2 where itm_num = ? and model_lot = ? "
    Database error code: "-204"
Could you please  let me know what might be the reason for this issue.
    Many Thanks in Advance.

Transaction SE11, input ZLICENSE_R2 for table name, and display the table. Did the table display? If not, that is the main problem.
If the table displays, go to menu item Utilities -> Database Object -> Database Utility
In the resulting screen, under the "Status" fields, you should see text "Exists in the database." If you don't, then the table exists in the dictionary, but doesn't exist in the database system. Click the "Create database table" button and then you should be able to run the program.
You may need basis team's help to carryout some of these actions.

  • Primary index does not exist in database but shows in SE14?

I added a couple of key fields to a Z table and activated it. Every thing went well - adjusted it with SE14 also.
When I checked the Runtime object - it is OK.
When I checked Database Object, it is showing that the Primary Index does not exist in Database but SE14 says that the Priamry Index exists in Database.
Please advise how to correct this. I saw another psoting when I searched per this error message: "Indexes: Inconsistent with DDIC source" . It tells to create this index at Database but need to know the steps.
    pl advise.

    hi,
To create a index for a table,
go to se11->click on Indexes tab and create  a primary index.
Indexes speed up data selection from the database. They consist of selected fields of a table, of which a copy is then made in sorted order. If you specify the index fields correctly in a condition in the WHERE or HAVING clause, the system only searches part of the index (index range scan).
The system automatically creates the primary index. It consists of the primary key fields of the database table. This means that for each combination of fields in the index, there is a maximum of one line in the table. This kind of index is also known as UNIQUE.
If you cannot use the primary index to determine the result set because, for example, none of the primary index fields occur in the WHERE or HAVINGclauses, the system searches through the entire table (full table scan). For this case, you can create secondary indexes, which can restrict the number of table entries searched to form the result set.
You create secondary indexes using the ABAP Dictionary. There you can create its columns and define it as UNIQUE.
    reward points if useful.
    regards
    sandhya

Index does not exist in database system MSSQL.
What does this mean? Has performance been increased or does the index 1st have to exist in the database system MSSQL?

When you create index at SE11 and you need activate database utility.
utilitities-database utility->then click activate and adjust database.
else you can use SE14 and so that Index will create databse level.
Reward Points if it is helpful
    Thanks

  • Index does not exist in database system ORACLE??????

    Hi Experts,
I created a Secondary Index in DEV, its fine and the message is,
    <b><i>Index KNA1~Z01 exists in database system ORACLE</i></b>
I moved it to TEST and there I got the message is like,
<i><b>Index does not exist in database system ORACLE</b></i>
    So,
1 - Wht I hv to do now? Shuld I see BASIS people?
2- Why its happened like that? Coz of not enough space?
    ThanQ.

    thanq sudheer,
I got the return code as 4, so Can I go for creation of new request and there by moving to test?
1 - Anyways, so, after Activating Seconadyr Index, Shuld I come back and Do I need to activate the Table also?
    or
2- Just activating the index is enough?
    thanq.

  • Index does not exist in database system DB6

    Hi,
Problem : <b>Index does not exist in database system DB6</b>.
I need further explanation why when i transport index from Development Client to Production Client the index is active but does not exist in database system DB6.
So when the cases is occurs i must re-create the index again in Production Level...
Can someone give me some ideas?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
it might be due to some BUG in RDBMS...
First Check the Secondary index in TEST system
Look at the Transport Number in DEV system, If this is having error, then it will show you the error details also,
If that not moved Properly then you need to create another request for the INDEX and move it again
See the threads with similar problem...

  • Application Compatibility does not update the database.

    Hi,
I am using application compatibility manager 6.1, and SQL server 2012 as database. ACT run ok and it create the XML file but it does not update the database at "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\DATA" location.
I can see the valid XML file but somehow the MDF file of database is not updated so my ACT windows does not showing anything on it.
    Any Help would be appreciated.

    Which Canon camera?
The Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) plugin has no relevance to Lightroom, incidentally - doesn't matter how up to date ACR is, Lightroom doesn't use it.

    Hello Seshu,
the table should be there, so maybe there was an earlier problem durint the installation.
Go to the directory containing the installation logs and search for errors, e.g.
    grep -i PATCHHIST *.log

I am trying to install a brand new WD 500 gb sata internal hd in my macbook pro. the original install dvd does not recognise the hd. all hardware is ok. any help?

For some reason OS X disks (whatever edition or flavors) that are supplied with Apple products only seem to contain a limited knowledge of available hard drives on the market at the time of thier publishing. This (rather opportunistically) creates a "Best Before" stale-OS X-software-copy situation where upgrading to or replacing a defective internal SATA hard drive with a newer, better or larger one is a largely hit and miss affair.
If you buy the latest and greatest disk drive available for any older Mac you are likely to run into unresolvable problems making a clean re-install of your own, old edition or flavor of OS X onto any newer or larger hard drive since the OEM (gray) "OS X Install Disks" that Apple supply with retail products seem to contain only time-sensitive lists/mapings of then-known target drives that the Drive Management Tool in the then-published old "Installer Software" will support.
Presumably new (colorful "X") retail versions of OS X (10.whatever.whatever) also contain time-limited Installers with limited knowledge of and adaptability to/compatability with a limited number of old hard drives then kicking-around on the market.
This is especially a problem nowadays since the countless "puny old" hard drives that have been on the market are largely obsolete in a few months time, as manufacturers continue to produce larger and cheaper units, discontinuing older puny products... So if your drive fails you need an exact old (or similar familial) replacement drive for your "backup copy of OS X" to do a fresh, clean OS X re-install. Otherwise you need to purchase a new retail version of OS X, since yours is now effectively obsolete. Purchasing an old, puny drive to re-install your version.flavor of OS X to avoid buying a new version of OS X is a rather false economy.
If you still have a working old hard drive with your old polluted 10.version.flavor of OS X still working on it you apparently must clone it with Time Machine or the newest version of Disk Utility (disk image copying) to most newer, larger drives, and a clean reinstall to such new hard drives is not possible.
