Installing Oracle9i on Windows XP Pro

Hi,
I've just installed Oracle9i Server on Windows XP, the Database is installed probarly & is working fine, but the Enterprise Manager Console window is right aligned. Everything in it, the File Menu is starting from the right side, the vertical bar is on the right side, the Databases tree is also right aligned on the window.
I beleive that I have to change some value in the Windows Registry, but I don't know which one, if any one can please help me and tell me which value I should change or add to the registry.
Please reply
Thank you

I just checked this again, at work, on my 2000 machine. I changed my locale to saudia arabia and that resulted in the alignment you mentioned earlier. I switched it back to its default english - united states and the alignment is no loner at the right.
In addition to that my nls_lang setting is :
AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
Note though, that simply changing the locale did it for me, regardless of my nls_lang setting.

  • Unable to install Lightroom on Windows 7 Pro 4GB

    hello
I have a Creative Cloud Subscription, I am using a Dell Vostro 3360 laptop. Windows 7 Pro SP1, 64-bit, up-to-date. 4 GB RAM, laptop screen is 1366x768, plus ane external larger display. Graphics card is "Intel HD Graphics 4000".
I read the Adobe document "minimum requirements for Lightroom" that says:
    Windows
    Intel® Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon® 64 processor*
DirectX 10–capable or later graphics card
Windows 7 with Service Pack 1, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1
    2GB of RAM (4GB recommended)
    2GB of available hard-disk space
    1024x768 display
DVD-ROM drive required if purchasing Adobe® Photoshop® Lightroom® retail boxed version
Internet connection required for Internet-based services†
and it appears that my hardware configuration is quite sufficuient.
However I don't see Lightroom in the Creative Cloud application list of downloadables app.
When I try to download from here: creative.adobe.com/products/lightroom nothing happens.
    What is happening here?
    Thanks
    Bruno Bonnefont - [email protected]

in fact, yes, I had a previous release of Lightroom installed on my PC (I did not use it & I forgot about it).
Yes, I uninstalled it, then a Lightroom entry appeared in the Creative Cloud app, and I have been able to download it and then start it properly.
    The issue is now closed.

  • Crash when installing Oracle9i on Windows

If you have a crash when installing oracle9i on Win 2000
(for example The instruction at "0x77fca30c" referenced memory blah blah blah), the problem could be your classpath.
Try the following in a command window:
cd Disk1 (or wherever you have unzipped oracle)
    set CLASSPATH=
    setup
I guess it is a bug in the installer. I didn't try to isolate it, my classpath is too big!

  • Install iTunes on Windows XP Pro x64 Edition

I just recently purchased a new system (Windows 64-bit) running XP Professional x64 Edition Service Pack 2.
Is iTunes supported for XP Pro x64 Edition?
    Thanks for any help.

No, there is no 64 bit edition of iTunes for Windows XP, only Vista.
You can, however, install the 32 bit version. You will then have to download and install the 64 bit Gear drivers for burning from the Gear site:
    http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.cfm
Unfortunately you can not get the 64 bit drivers for the iPhone and Touch. If you have one of these, you may find this link interesting:

  • Installing and Unistalling Windows XP Pro on iMac pro

I understadn from research that I can install Windows XP on my iMac Pro ( don't have it yet...) by using boot camp, this seems fairly straight forward. My question is can I uninstall it.
My reasoning is that currently I am running some PLC programming software that is only XP supported, however there are inklings that these will be iMac compatable. I want to run the Xp version under boot camp, then upgrade to Mac OS when they are available.
Is it possible to uninstall XP once installed?

Go to this url and read all about Bootcamp from the best source.

You should especially read this guide before attempting any BootCamp installation or you might screw it up badly.

  • Here's How I Finally Got Muse CC to install on my Windows 7 Pro 64bit machine! Weeee!

    Hey all! Good news!
Just had to share how I finally broke through to the other side with a mixture of suggestions from the adobe community.
    1. I deleted my previous Adobe AIR version in C:/Programs (x86)/Common Files/Adobe AIR files (just pitched version 1.0 file in the trash and emptied it).
    2. I went to Task Manager, then clicked Services tab, then clicked on the Services... button, then made sure Windows Installer service was set to Auto and Enabled (we should all be so enabled).
    3. downloaded, and ran Windows Fixit, found Adobe AIR on the list (God help you if it's not on the list) and told it to go take care of my Uninstall/ install problems. It found a registry problem and an instal problem and fixed them (good boy Fixit ap!)
    4. While Fixit Waited, it asked me to tell it how the install went (such a caring little app) I ran the Adobe AIR Installer as an administrator.
    5. It finally installed, yipee!!!
    6. I finally Installed Muse CC via my Creative Cloud Apps manager. Yipee again!!!
    7. I gave windows Fixit  an attaboy and sent it on its way back to Microsoft with a heartfelt thank you.
And Viola! Half a year of struggles came to an end!!!
Hope this helps you poor folks who have gone through the same thing. I know how frustrating it is to not be able to use an app you are paying for.
    Happy Thanksgiving, truly!

    1. Hotsync can send documents to the phone SD card. Or if you use docs to go it can send that though its program.
    2. Phone as a modem is possible to do but base on if your carrier will allow you to do it on the plan you are on. Here is a link on how to do that: http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/na/treo/755p/sprint/solutions/article/44803_en.html
    3. If you have an SD card port on your computer you can transfer files this way as well.

  • Installing 10g on Windows XP Pro.

I very recently downloaded Oracle 10g. I would like to install it on my external USB2 hard drive and be able to access it from both my laptop PC and my desktop PC.
I presume installing it from one of my PC's would be straigthforward. But what do I need to do on the other PC to be able to access it from there as well? I can plug my external USB2 hard drive into either PC.
I am very experienced in mainframe databases but very much a novice in Oracle. Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    TIA
    Gunny

This is unusual, but it may be doable. I have the equipment myself to attempt it, so I'll give it a try. Essentially, you would have to perform the install on each machine with the target filesystem pointing to the location on the USB drive that you wish to use. Once the install has been run to create identical environments on both machines, you could create databases to run from that same USB drive.
I could not vouch for performance, and there are probably formidable problems attendant to this approach, but it may just work. It might be a fun thing to try too, but don't use it for anything important.
Here's the gotcha: You will have to make sure that every Oracle process is stopped before you will be able to remove the USB drive from the system prior to moving it. Otherwise, the Safely Remove Hardware tool will refuse to let the drive go. You should also be aware that if you just disconnect a USB drive from a system when a bunch of files are open on it, your system may hang or crash. You will probably also corrupt the open files. Although Oracle is usually pretty good about recovery in various unusual crash scenarios, there is no predicting what it would do in this situation.
Here is the scenario that I think may work:
    1. Connect the USB disk device to the first machine.
    2. Run the Oracle 10G Install on the first machine with the USB drive as the target. (Note that some things will be installed in Program Files.) (Be sure to record the name and path of the Oracle Home so that you can use it on the second machine.)
    3. Close all Oracle processes that get created in Windows Services. (I recommend setting the services you want to use to Manual so that they will not attempt to start automtically and setting Oracle services you do not intend to use to Disabled.)
    4. Use the Safely Remove Hardware tool to remove the device from the machine.
    5. Connect the device to the second machine being sure that it has the same drive letter.
    6. In the USB drive's file system, delete the 10G Oracle Home folder that was created by the install on the first machine.
    7. Install Oracle 10G on the second machine being sure to use the same name and path for the Oracle Home.
The drive letter for the USB drive must be the same on both machines because any databases that you create in this setup will have hard paths to datafiles mapped in their control files. If the drive letters differed between the machines or if they changed over time, the database would not start.
This looks like an interesting experiment, but actual use may prove more difficult than it is worth. I will certainly try this soon to see if it actually works. If it works well, I might be able to put it to good use myself.
    Kind regards,
    Russ Cannon

  • Archive & Install equivalent for Windows XP Pro

I'm messing around with Windows for the first time (lifetime Apple/mac user) and am enjoying the wide software selection of things I basically cannot get on Mac. I've been downloading and buying a bunch of software that requires installation set-ups (some time-limited, one day only) and require serial number inputs.
As I have been told before,i've been encountering a lot of problems with Windows and find myself reinstalling the software. If I do that, I have to hunt don and reinstall all the software and serials, and since some of them are one day only activations (from giveawayoftheday.com), are unable to be reinstalled.
Is there a way to reinstall widows that preserves all the serials, etc.???

    that is not correct.
Yes, you can reinstall over the old OS, but it will cause numerous problems. More problems than its worth.
XP uses the registry to track files, associations, permissions, and a myriad of other things.
But a registry rewritten by and OS reinstall will lose all that information, so while your programs will still exist in the "program files" directory, most of them will no longer function.
Your user profile will still exist (and your data) but everything will have a new security ID, so you may or may not be able to access it.
If you have installed security updates after the base windows install, then try to overwrite, you may get version conflicts when overwriting with an unmodified OS.
This also applies to using the "R" (repair) option from the installer CD, as the repair will replace new files with old files, and usually results in an unstable (crash prone) system, or a BSOD on restart.
In short, you are better off to backup your data, wipe the drive and start with a clean install. (wipe the drive and start clean)

  • Installing Oracle9i on Windows 2000

I am installing the 9i database enterprise edition on windows 2000 with service pack 3. The installation stops at 16 %. How can I rectify this issue?
    Thanks in Advance.

    Possible Solution.
I had to boot into windows safe mode, wipe out the existing information found in the c:\<your_install_directory>. (my Win2k is a fresh install, but I had already done about 3 failed attempts of the database install)
Then I turned off the any windows services that Oracle had set up.
Afterwards, I crossed my fingers and ran the installer again.
This time it worked. I'm not too sure if this is any help to some of you, but it worked for me.
