Installing OS X Mavericks
So I have all the requirements to install, I have enough memory space and RAM I believe (pictures of stuff)
And my internet is perfectly fine, but OS X Mavericks won't install. It will download and it'll only go a very small ways before it like freezes I guess and sits for about 15 minutes before a popup says it can't be installed and to retry. I'm unsure of whats wrong.
So yeah, if I can get any help thanks!

Just installed new OS (mavericks) and lost mail folders. any advice?
I had set up several mail folders. When I installed the new Mavericks OS they all disappeared. Left with Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Trash and Junk. Is there a way of recovering the lost folders? Some very important info in them.

clone your system and repair it with Disk Warrior instead
Or try a clean test system install on another drive
A must: SmcFanControl 2.2 - a mere 400 rpm extra to keep air cooling up
Try to run w/o externals. MyBook included.
Is that a 7200.11 1TB? they had a lot of issues.
Run AHT off your OEM DVD.
2008 had to have EFI and SMC updates to deal with freezes on wake from sleep, and like all models, high inrush current. Hopefully you have a UPS and is 1500VA unit.
When you do hard restart from power button, you almost certainly add more directory errors and to files requiring immediate attention to repair and rebuild the directory; and to scan and repair and delete cache and temp files and folders. A must. Invest in bootable backups SuperDuper along with Disk Warrior (or TechTool Pro 6, maybe Drive Genius 3 but I'd rate that #3).
TimeMachine has its own bad habits, especially with Green drives and some externals.
Try to rule out everything and then add back one at a time.
And it may just be time to replace the 8800, very common, a couple threads this week, and it is 3 yrs old. Might want ATI 5870 or 5770. -
Creating a Mavericks USB boot drive after the horse has bolted. Can I create a bootable USB drive from my iMac after installing Mavericks without saving the Install OS X Mavericks.app file? Do I need to re- download the whole 5.29 Gb from the App Store again? My problem is my 4Gb/month allowance on a 12 month contract. I cannot purchase a data block from my ISP and although my speed is theoretically slowed to 64k after reaching my 4Gb, it actually ceases to download in reality.
HI tasclix, it depends what you mean by an OS X boot drive.
If you want a recovery disk from which you can reinstall (by re-downloading) or recover from a time machine backup, then nbar is correct.
If, however, you want to boot and run the OS X installer from the USB drive (so that you don't need to download again), then you will need a copy of "Install OS X Mavericks.app"; see this article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5856
Before downloading again, search your system to see if the installer is still there - it's usually in the /Applications folder unless it has been deleted, but check your whole system for it anyway, you never know, you might still have it somewhere.

How do I install OS X Mavericks on a Macbook that wont even start up?
I got on it this morning, it booted up fine. Then stopped responding.
So I turned it off, and turned it back on.
It refused to open the operating system. Just kinda sat there with the Apple logo and the spinny 'loading' wheel.
I ended up in Online Internet Recovery, since my recovery system wouldn't work.
And I'm pretty sure I just deleted the operating system off of my mac.
Because I had no other option.
I don't have discs. I bought the darn thing a little over 2 weeks ago off ebay.
So I'm putting it back through the online recovery since when I retired restarting it, it told me it couldn't find the operating system.
(Folder with the question mark flashing)
If I open online recovery, can I possibly install OS X Mavericks onto my laptop and start all this over again?
I'm at the point where I don't care that I lost everything. I just want the darn thing to work, since I have limited options it seems.
If you have any idea on how to help, I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you!
~KrissyMacbook Pro 13" (Mid-2010) Though information says 2009 as well.
Was running OS X Mavericks 10.9 4
I do not have the original Apple store login information.
Since the item was bought via Ebay.

That is the computer I bought. Information should be there if need be anything else.

HT201364 Unable to install OS X Mavericks
Just bought this computer and am unable to install OS X Mavericks. I get a message telling me that I cannot install it on this computer. I'm at the point of W..T..H? A brand new MacBook Pro 15 and it won't accept Mavericks? Now what? Back to the Apple Store? A.r.g.h.h.h
Yes, I reviewed all the requirements...and yes, I have the required disk space. Frustrating experience, this is. So far, everything else seems to be working out as I expected.

The iWork apps are free with a new iOS device since 1 SEP 2013. They are free with a new Mac since 1 OCT 2013. They are also free with the upgrade to OS X Mavericks 10.9 if you had the previous version installed when you upgraded. -
I tried to install OS X Mavericks but my Mac Book Pro (of mid-2009 with OS X 10.7.5) crashed. I had to change the Hard Disk. How can I install OS X Mavericks on my Mac laptop safely without going to another crash? I checked and found that my lap top is eligible for the upgrade to Mavericks. Can't understand what happened. Please help and advise how to do the upgrading. Thanks.
I could not report the crash as my lap top was out of order. So now it's working. Should I report the crash and to whom? Do you have any link for that?

Not able to install OS X mavericks
Hello All,
I have tried to install OS x mavericks on my macbook air, but wasnt able to install.
When I try to download OS from App store, it shows to install app, but nothing happens after I click on it.
Also, in purchases tab of App store, I see OS X mavericks in Other purchases, but without any option at all. ( no download or install or update) It is just blank.
I have been trying to figure this out from a while, and browsing online, did not see this issue happening to others over the web. Is this a bug... and you have at least OS X 10.6.8 currently installed?
... and you have at least 8GB of free disk space?
If so, I think you're saying you completed the 5.3 GB Mavericks download, right?
If you open the Install OS X Mavericks app from your Applications folder, exactly what happens? -
