Installing OS X v. 10.2.8 update
Ok, this is a WEIRD one. My girlfriend decided she wanted to fiddle around with my laptop while I was at work and somehow everything got all messed up. For whatever reason, she decided that she wanted to switch over to OS 9 instead of working in OS X. However, when she tried to do that, it never got into OS 9. Instead, there was just a blank screen with a small little folder in the middle of the screen. Inside that folder was the OS 9 smiley face logo witch would blink on and off alternating to a "?" symbol. Once this popped up, there was nothing you could do but restart which would bring you back to the exact same place.
After I got home and discovered the mess she somehow made, I tried fixing it, but all I could make work was the CD drive, so I loaded up the reboot disk and reinstalled OS X v.10.2.1 This brought us back into OS X and everything was all hunky dorie. Or so it seemed.
After fiddling around a bit I began to notice that some of my software wasn't working and I narrowed it down to the fact that I was no longer running on v.10.2.8, which I had upgraded to, but back on the original v.10.2.1 Now, obviously this seems like something that should be no problem. Just download the update and re-update it. Piece of cake, right? Wrong. I've tried everything from downloading the installer to doing a direct install from system preferences, and every single time it gets to the end of the installation and says that there was an error and the installation was unable to be completed (at first, the installer wasn't even working properly, when I clicked on the desktop link it would do that opening up graphic the computer does, but then it wouldn't do anything, but now - for whatever reason I have no idea - the downloaded installer is actually working, up to the point where the error occurs).
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

I Installed the Apple Software Installer 1.0 Update Tonight
Hello-
I am not sure if this latest Software Update messed things up, but there are a lot of problems with my MBP now that I just noticed tonight after I installed this Apple Software Installer Update 1.0.
First off I am unable to watch any of the online videos like CBS nightly News, some of the BBC News Videos, as far as I can tell anything that shows its content on a video screen from the companies website. I updated Flash Player about 2 weeks ago to the current version because I started keepng Flash updated to the current version, someting I wish I would have never started. when I went to CBSnews.com, clicked on CBS Evening News, nothing (not even a video screen) shoes up but in small letters it says Please Upgrade Your Adobe Flash Player. According to adobe Flash (current versions for MacOS-Safari) I have the correct Flash version and I have watched these news broadcasts seveeral nights on ABC, CBS, and many other videos on mostly news websites. On ABC I noticed it tonight since I installed this Apple Software Installer 1.0 Update, it shows a blank video screen but in the middle it says, "This content requires Adobe Flash Player - Ver 10.1. (on top) and on the bottom is a link that says " Click here to get the latest version of Flash."
The latest version of Flash for a Mac using Safari is what I installed about 2 weeks ago and is 11.1.102.64. I am not sure what ABC means by 10.1. The versions confuse me, especially if I look in Safari under "Help"--> "Installed Plug-Ins", it usually just gives the first couple of numbers, but now I cannot even bring up "Installed Plug Ins" under Safari---Help---Installed Plug-Ins. it just gives me a blank screen.
Is it possible to uninstall an installed update? it is a major deal. any suggestions on what I should try? I know people who hate Adobe Flash (seems like there are a lot) will say get rid of Adone Flash. But whay would it stop showing me what is on the Installed Plug-Ins Page? Before, I just did this the other night, I open a new tab, go to Help on Safari's Menu bar to Help, then Installed Plug-Ins and it usually fills up the blank New Tab page with all the Installed Plug-ins. Down toward the end it will show me that Shockwave Player, I think Mac calls it is installed, and it just gives the first few numbers of the current version that is installed. Now I get no Installed Plug-Ins.
thanks for any assistance. I looked up in the suppot articles how to uninstall an installed Update. I was going to repair permissions, but I have only ever done that using the Operating Disk. that is how I was taught by a genius bar person several years ago, and I just kept up with it. when I repair permissions using Disk Utility from the dock, let's say I do a test run and 20 permissions come up, I repair them and nothing changes, but if I use the OS disk and repair the permissions, if there are a lot it will get rid of them all but it usually takes 2 runs at it. I know this is different from what most others say,I use Firefox 95% of the time, and there's no problem with flash content (and I'm still at .55 - downloaded .64 last week but I haven't got round to making the change yet). At the rate they've been changing it recently it may well be out of date already .
I've been trying it in Safari, too with no problems apart from You Tube, but that's because I'm blocking Google cookies.
One thought does occur - if your Flash preferences are set to block all Local Storage, it may be that the problem site is trying to use Flash cookies (LSOs). I had this problem recently with the BBC iPlayer streaming content. Little Snitch notified an attempt to connect to a new URL - emp.bbci.co.uk.
If I disallowed it, no streaming; when I allowed the connection, it still wouldn't stream, so I did a bit of digging and came to the conclusion that it was trying to set a Flash cookie. When I unblocked, lo and behold - streaming resumed as normal.
I now have LSOs blocked in a more subtle way that lets the site think it's being set (but it ain't) and the streaming still works.
As for permissions repair - always repair from local; the permissions on the original disc will have been superceded by updates and new installations of Apple software.
DU needs to be reading the packages on the HD, not the (now out of date) install disc.
The recurring repair messages are normal and don't mean anything's wrong. As long as the final message is 'repair complete' there's no need to dwell on it.

PSE 10 installed on windows 7 desktop and recently updated on windows laptop. now PSE doesn't work on either machine. How can this be fixed?
uninstall pse 10 (properly using the adobe uninstaller).
clean - Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
then try reinstalling using the adobe installation file(s).

I have made many attempts to install the 11.1.4.62 iTunes update unsuccesfully! Error 6034, iTunes.exe has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. I see that many people is having the same problem. How do I solve it...
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components; this won't affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

My ipad is saying I have app updates to install, but won't allow me to update. The update screen is blank. Any ideas on how to fix?
There are a number of other threads from people reporting a problem with a blank Updates tab in the App Store app - it looks like there is a problem at Apple's end which they need to fix.
Some posts are suggesting that you if you go into the Purchased tab in the App Store app you might be able to update the apps from there, though you will need to scroll through the list to find those with updates and individually update them. -

I am running Lightroom 6 in conjunction with 64 bit Photoshop CS6. I need to install Camera Raw 9 plus other relevan updates for the Adobe Design and Web Premium CS6 package. Running Adobe Application manager finds the relevant updates but won't download / install them. Clicking the update button results in an error message "Application Manager has stopped working". This is a windows system running 64 bit Windows 7

I also tried to install MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 1.2, however it says the computer doesn't need to install it. And I checked my Boot ROM Version is MBP22.00A5.B00. After the update it should be: MBP11.0055.B08 (MacBook Pro 15 inch). So I don't know what to do?

You don't "need" to install anything. If you think you can benefit from the updates then go ahead.

If it came with 10.4.8 preinstalled, then you do not need to install it.

Nothing. If it says the update isn't needed, then it's already been applied at the factory. -
I was following the process of unistalling all Apple software and reinstalling iTunes. But I am getting an error that says "a program required for this install could not be run."
Other threads recommend updating the Apple Software Update module, but that was uninstalled. So if it's part of the problem, updating it is not a solution.
Windows 7, 64-bit, SP 1 installed.For what it's worth, at the point the installation fails, Bonjour, Apple Application Support, and Apple Mobile Device Support all show as installed on Control Panel. Apple Software Update has a link on the Start Menu but does NOT show as installed on Control Panel. Is there a way to install this separately from iTunes?

Installed Itunes: New PC, Windows 7 x64, updated ipod software, click to eject ipod, PC goes to blue screen, dumps data, restarts; songs do not
play correctly on ipod. IE: play a song - only first few seconds will play. Some songs play fully, some do not.Hi just wanted to let you know I solved most of my XP problems with my new IPOD. It won't recognise the IPOD or driver and froze and locked up and then the battery died. After hours of trying different things here is what I did. I completly closed computer down. Waited 15 minutes turned on and reloaded everything. I put the usb cable in but not hooked up to IPOD. I turned off Mcaffee (all of it). After my computer came on. I then went and closed everything I didn't need in the bottom toolbar. (taskbar). I then reloaded the software and waited. Took forever to reload and I don't know why but whatever it worked but I DID NOT HOOK UP THE IPOD LIKE IT SAID! I instead shut down the computer after loading the software and waited 5 minutes and turned it back on. I again waited and shut of mcaffee. It loaded everything fine this time and said new hard ware and drivers detected. I plugged my IPOD in and YES I WAS UP AND RUNNING (THIS IS AFTER 6 HOURS OF PLAYING WITH OTHER THINGS!) I am able to load and play, burn, watch movies, see pictures and everything your suppose too! The only thing I see different than the instructions is I left my usb cable plugged in and when it said to eject the disk I didn't. I also didn't plug in the IPOD (5th Gen) and then I shut down waited and then restarted the computer. I hope this helps others because I know the feeling of wanting to return something you paid dearly for and worked hard at saving money to buy one and it doesn't work. My only thing I dislike about apple is they didn't supply a ac adapter for the IPOD and the instructions say to plug it up when trying to charge battery. DUHHHHHH, ya can't do that if ya don't have one and stores are closed and won' open until Monday! But at least I am up and running. I just hate having to plug up IPOD to computer daily to charge the battery which only last a half a day1

Downloaded the update, then tried to install it
The blue box of the update shows up, but then cellphone just reboot.
A message appears when the xperia starts:
Can't install new software version. Try Again.
Tried in my girlfriend's xperia s, and it goes OK.
Already tried to use original configurations.
The only thing different in my cellphone is that i unlocked bootloader.
didn't use root or anything, as i wanted to install a app that i eventually gave up, before i even triyng. (Seems too complicated)

You unlocked the bootloader of your phone and your accepted the update over the air ? ( Means you updated through the mobile center app ? )
Probably you saved yourself from bricking the device
Do not accept any update once bootloader is unlocked.
In order to get ICS from PC Companion or SUS you need to relock your bootloader
If you don't want to relock it then simply flash using flashtool

When trying to install the OS X 10.7.5 update, all i see is a grey screen with the software bar on top, nothing happens,it is supposed to install then restart! Any clues as to why this is happening?
The startyp disk may need repairing.
Restart while holding down the Command + R keys.
