Installing PDK for EP6SP9

Hi SDN,
SAP provides in the installation guide for the PDK EP6SP9 the information that you have to configure the system aliases
1. PDK_R3_BACKEND == which should be an SAP R/3 system
2. PDKDummySystem == What kind of system should this be?
3. WebDynpro == What kind of system is necessary here?

Hello all,
It seems there's a big difference between PDK for EP6 SP2 and this last release (SP9). For instance, I can't see any of the old options (Component Manager, Inspector, Documentation, etc).
Does anyone know a guide, link or any documentation explaining these differences? We have just installed EP 6 SP9 and I'm trying to get the things up as in our old SP2.

Hi Once you unzip the software you will get an html file called
jdev.addin.install.guide.html
This gives detailed step by step instructions to set this up..
its as simple as executing
java -jar portal-addin-install.jar <jdev home>

I have the following question regarding thePortal Development Kit (PDK) for SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0. We have Enterprise Portal 6.0 up and running.
1> How Do I find whether we already have this inported in the EP environment: I have admin and super admin role and trying to find '*java' in the Role. But didn't find one. Does that mean we don't have this imported already?
2> I have tried to Find out the PDK( which is also a Business Content) in SDN in the Portal Business content link (https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/contentportfolio.sdn) , but haven't found. Where from I download this business content?
3> What are the special steps that need to be taken to import this and make it working?

Hi Arunabha,
1. Note that the search is case sensitive. Therefore you should search for java and Java.
2. Download from: https://www.sdn.sap.com/sdn/downloaditem.sdn?res=/html/PDK60_download.htm
3. Deploy with SDM: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/22/a7663bb3808c1fe10000000a114084/content.htm

Hi all,
We installed EP 7.0 successfully. But we couldn't find the PDK for EP 7.0 anywhere. The links which were mentioned in other threads are not working. I couldn't find any info regarding PDK download.
Any inputs on the path to download PDK for EP 7.0.
Any help will be rewarded.

How to install PDK 6.0 within Tomcat ?

I am a beginner.I read this in an article
"Java developers who don't have immediate access to a full SAP Enterprise Portal (EP) implementation can also use the PDK to deploy and test their iViews"
If this is true
My question is : After downloading the PDK 6.0 (.epa)
How do I install it within Tomcat?
I installed it by dropping it in Tomcat's webapp dir,
but it complained that it was not a .war file.
I plan to use Eclipse to develop Java Iviews.
I do not have access to EP or WAS
Another developer wrote

Hi Babbi,
the EPA file is a Business package for a EP 6.0 portal.
You use the import functionality to do that.
Tomcat was used as a PDK WebServer for EP 5.0. It is not working with EP 6.0.
If you want to have access to a WAS or EP (which runs on WAS) take a look to the Preview version here on SDN.
It is free available and works for at least 90 days after installation. You should take a look to the requirements first before you download the whole package....

Hi Baggett,
To install PDK you should have EP installed in your WAS.
If EP(Enterprise Portal) is installed and it is running, then through SDM tool you can deploy the PDK.
To run SDM the default location will be
<install drive>:
usr\sap\J2E\JC00\SDM\program\RemoteGui.bat
It will open the Software Deployment Manager GUI Window.
Select SDM GUI and login , enter password and defult will be "sdm". after login select deployment tab and select the first icon i.e. Add SCA/DCA to Deployment List, it will open a pop-up window where you have to select the .sca file location for PDK software that you have., then select next button, then press start button to start deployment.
after complition of the process press confirm button and pdk will be deployed in the EP server.
After that you have to assign the Java Developer Role in the User Administration to the user and when you logged on as that user in the portal then you will have to access the PDK resources.

I've installed EP SP3 and upgraded it to SP6. It works fine. Now I need PDK for SP6. I tried the link

All I found are PDK for PDK60.2 and PDK60.9. Can I use these two. Also, do I need to install PDK patch if upgrading from PDK60.2.

You should be fine to use the latest PDK. I have not heard of anyone having problems.

I am using oracle 9i AS R2, i try to install the PDK JAVA Framework, i follow the OTN PDK installation guide step by step, when i restart the HTTP server, i open the IE, and then enter 'http://testing.com:7777/servlets/sample' or 'http://testing.com:7777/servlet/sample', IE return 'The page can not be found'.
Would you give me some idea on how to install PDK??

What version of PDK are you using? If you are new to PDK, i would suggest that you download the latest December release from
http://otn.oracle.com/software/htdocs/devlic.html?http://download.oracle.com/otn/other/PDK.zip
On unzipping the pdk.zip you will find the lotus notes portlets under %PDK_UNZIP%/PDK/solutions/lotusnotes. There you will find the installation guide for deploying the lotusnotes.ear onto your OC4J.
Under %PDK_UNZIP%/PDK/solutions/ you will also find some new portlets like sms, smtp that you might want to try.
For URL Services, you can go through the PDK release notes at %PDK_UNZIP%/PDK/ which will give you pointers to articles on URL services.

We can only find PDK for EP6 (I also used PDK for EP5 years ago).
However I cannot find PDK for EP7.

Why are you looking for such a role?
I assume you are looking for the Java Developer role (from the PDK). The PDK is a business package that must be installed in your portal for you to get the Java Developer role.
Just by having EP7 doesnt give you the role. You must have the PDK.
Please go to the link I provided in my previous post to learn more about the PDK business package. I believe for EP7 it is now provided with the sneak preview, a trial version of the whole Java stack. So to get the PDK, you need to install that. But check the link.

How do I save an install file for Photoshop CS6

I need to get an install file for Photoshop CS6 (not CR) that I can use on a Windows PC that, due to security reasons, does
not have access to the internet. In the past I have been able to save the install file for Photoshop and/or Lightroom on my internet connected PC and then move it to the the target PC on a thumb drive or CD. But now with the CC and the new "Adobe Installer" I can't seem to see how to capture the install file.
Please let me know how to do this.

Cannot view InfoPath Form on SHarePoint 2013 since I removed SkyDrive for Business and installed OneDrive For Business

I removed SkyDrive for Business and installed OneDrive for Business on my laptop. After that, I had problems opening a Word and Excel document in a SharePoint site (SP2013). After installing Service Pack2 from Office2010, this problem is solved.
But I still have the same problem with InfoPath. Whenever I click an InfoPath form (I have InfoPath 2010 on my laptop),...
... I get the error "cannot display web page".
When I change the URL

As I understand, you can’t open InfoPath form in SharePoint 2013 unless you change the URL without “ms-infopath:ofe|u|”.
There are some reasons which maybe cause this issue, and you can try to do things below:
Access CA -> General Application Settings -> Configure InfoPath Form Service -> Check the two options in User Browser-enabled Form Templates.
Go into the registry by typing regedit from the Run line and rename the SharePoint.OpenDocuments.5 key (ex. SharePoint.OpenDocuments.5.old) under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.
In library settings, click "relink documents to this library".

Problem solved! , my tube is back to normal ( to rock )
all i did is , removed the sys,private,system,resources,data folders from the memory card , switched off my phone , removed the memory card , did a soft reset (*#7370#) and tried to install an application from downloads , i was able to install in the phone memory as memmory card was not inserted then switched off the phone , inserted the memory card and tried to install an application from the downloads, finally i was asked where to install the app. and gave memory card , viola application installed sucessfully

This is an known issue in SSRS 2008 R2 SP3. For this issue, Microsoft has published an article addressing this issue. It is not planning to release a fix for this defect. But there's workarounds for this issue. Please refer to the link below:
