I'M TRIYNG TO INSTALL PERSONAL ORACLE UNDER WIN NT WORKSTATION, AND I HAVE AN ERROR WITH DR. WATSON.(I THINK AN ERROR WITH ORACLE INSTALLER)

Problem in installing Personal Oracle 8 and develper 6i on win me

I install personal oracle 8 on my home computer . First time it
install perfectly . After restart my computer i start database,
It mounts and then i use sql + to connect and make some queries.
all is working perfectly ..
Then after i install develper 6i forms on my computer it intall
completely with no errors. After restart my computer i install
develper 6i reports on my computer which is hardly half install
then make some errors .,. which is about a file "msvcrt32.dll".
After that error i mount database which is also make errors
like ....." The ORACLE80.exe file os linked to missing export
NZ*).dll:nztpvec" ORA-12203 CANNOT ATTACH TO ORACLE 8 .
Well i m using Windows ME. and i dont want to reformet and
reinstallation of all other softwares on my computer.
Well if anybudy know what is that error and how to solve it .
Please let me know , i will ever thankfull to them

How to install Personal Oracle 7, Developer 2.1, Designer 2.1

I am a college student who has had coursework in database design and management.
I came across Personal Oracle 7 for Win 95, Developer 2.1, and Designer 2.1.
I am having trouble getting sucessful installation beyond Personal Oracle. Help?!? Documentaion?!?

I am in the same boat also. In the middle of coursework and attempting to run these academic versions of Oracle. There is a patch somewhere but I do not know where. Sorry!

Can't install Personal Oracle 8i for NT

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.
- Server name NONE
- Filename NT817 Personal.zip
- Date/Time 2/7/2002
- Browser + Version IE 5.5
- O/S + Version NT 4.0
- Error Msg NONE
I downloaded and unzipped the above named file. When I try to run setup.exe, the cursor blinks to an hour glass for a milisecond and then nothing. Some advice I've had from others has been to:
1. Check for a folder called c:\ProgramFiles\oracle\inventory\locks and make sure there
is nothing in there. Folder does not exist.
2. Make sure I have sufficient free space on drive c: to allow for the log files. I have approx 500mb free space.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.

before connecting from sql plus or svrmgr set default instance. for eg. if you are on NT go to environment variable and set ORACLE_SID=TRIAL

Install Personal Edition on Win 2K Prof

I am trying to install Oracle Personal Edition 8i on a system using Windows 2000 Professional. I have installed the Forms and Reports 6i already. When I insert the Personal Edition CD and click the Install/Deinstall button, nothing happens. I have tried to run it from a DOS prompt also (as suggested by Oracle) but that does not work either. If anyone could share any information on this, I would really appreciate it.

What version of Oracle are yoy trying to install , use 8i Ver 2 (8.1.6 ) or ver 3 (8.1.7 ) .
Preferable use Oracle 9i , it has got a personal edition embeded in the Enterprise edition CD set OR you can just download the Just released Personal edition 9i.
8i Ver. 1 (8.1.5) does not work on Windows 2000 , in cases the installer does not work at all or the installer runs but it sees no software source

I get and error message when going into
D:/setup I get D:/setup.exe is not a valid
Win32 application. I then tried the Install folder/Win32/Setup and got another error msg.
Java Runtime Environment not found. I have downloaded this as requested, rebooted, and it still gives me the same error msg. I am on a Windows98 machine.

You Check out for the version of java u have in ur computer. The
Java version shud be compatible as specified in the readme
documentation of Oracle.
I too faced the same problem and when i installed the correct
Java Version, it worked.
One more thing, Pls check the Classpath of the java runtime
environment file

While installing oracle 8i ver 2 8.1.6 on Windows 98,the following error message is displayed...
"Jrew - This program has performed an illegal operation.if problem persists contact vendor."
and then the installation process is terminated.

Try to get the Latest version of OUI(universal installer) from somebody who has latest version of OUI or downlaod from technet..I had the same problem and i could install the 8i version with a new OUI version.
Also try install custom and skip Java tools ,because this will try upadte ur jre,and shuts down the installation.

Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close
the first thing that i check for when people report getting that message when they try to launch their itunes is a broken QuickTime.
try to open your QuickTime. does it launch properly, or do you get an error message?
if you get an error message, the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.

if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

Can't install systemupdate under win xp sp3

hi.
i try to install systemupdate 3.14 on a T43p with new windows xp prof. with sp3 installed, and the installshield wizard complains that it was interrupted, and doesn't finish. i got the same result from an older version: 2.12.

Try running Windows update and see if that works. There seems to be a fairly consistant problem with SP3 in not allowing Windows Update to work properly, I suspect this similay. I don't know how to fix it, but at least this can help you find out what the problem is.

You probably have A Pentium 4 and you have to rename a symcjit.dll which is located about 8 - 10 levels deep under stage directory to say symcjit_old.dll.
It is a know bug!

i am trying to install Personal 8i on windows 98, and while clicking the next button on the OUI (Oracle Universal Installer), the program just disappeared and it appears the java program has a null pointer. I found the error message in the c:\windows\temp\msorant

by the way I am in the same position. I also installed the personal edition and can not connect to the database from outside although I think the data sources are set up correctly. (it says that there is no listener - although there is) If you get a bit further let me know if this works

Personal Oracle 8.1.6 on Win 98

I tried to install persaonal Oracle 8.1.6 on Win 98 and when I start the Oracle using svrmgrl I got the following error
Cannot open registry
software\oracle\homeo\SID_LIST
starting with default sid
Then it asks for password. I tried all passwords and finally got error
ORA-01031 - Cannot logon to Oracle 8i
I have used UNIX. What is the equivalent of ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME of UNIX in WIN 98. Where all sid's of all startup and shutdown databases are stored.
Any body knows.

There is NO need to have to installations of PO8 on single machine,you can create two or more instances of databases.
