Installing Photos into my ipod

I am trying to figure out how to load pictures on my ipod.
From what I read It seems you do it through itunes. They are referencing a photo tab which I cannot seem to find. Also I read that when my ipod is hooked up to click on photos then install but when I click on photo it takes me to slideshows. Do I have something installed wrong or am I just blind.
Thanks

Depending on which version of iTunes you are using, the iPod photo tab will be in a different place. In iTunes 6 connect your iPod and go to Edit>Preferences>Photo tab. In iTunes 7 connect your iPod, click on the iPod icon in the source list and click on the photo tab in the main preference pane. You can have a look at the tutorial here: Transferring Pictures to Your iPod
You can also read a bit more on this page: iTunes and iPod: Frequently asked questions (FAQ) about Photo Sync
Once you've had a look at that here's a tip for managing the photos that go on to your iPod. Create a folder on your hard drive called called "iPod Photos" or something similar and drag the photos you want on your iPod to it.. Under the photo preferences for the iPod, point iTunes to "synchronize photos from" and choose to update from your new folder. If you keep a dedicated folder like this, you won't need to edit your normal pictures folder just for the iPod and you can add and remove picture from it whenever you need to.

  • Why I can't continue add photos into my iPod ???

I don't know why I can't continue add photos into my iPod. For example, I already had some photos in my iPod and I can see the folder that contains all the photos in my iPod with a mark on it. But one think that I don't know is when I want to add more photos into my iPod, iTune will sync my iPod for a very long moment and there's no processing indication, it's like there was a message 'Syncing iPod' that show in the top of the iTune screen, but there was no 'processing bar' under it. I don't know why this happen. Do I have to erase all the photos that were currently in my iPod and the iPod Photo Cache located in My Photos to re-upload the new photos into my iPod? But in this situation, I couldn't leave the 'old photos'in my iPod. I just want to make a hudge photos library, COULD ANY GENIUS HELP ME ?

i don't know if this will help but this is how i manage my photos:
    1. create a folder (mine is called 'ipod photos')
    2. put all the photos you want on your ipod in that folder
    3. open itunes, plug in your ipod.
    4. on the overview screen, click the photos tab
    5. check the, 'sync photos from' box.
    6. browse to the folder you want to sync with
    7. hit sync
then when i want to add new photos, i just add them to that folder and hit sync again.

Every time i try to sync photos into my ipod, itunes keeps copying my apps from my device into my library and it takes so long for the process to finish, is there a way to prevent this from happening or at least disabling itunes from copying my app. Its really annoying.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer

  • I can't pass photos into my ipod!

I try to pass pictures into my ipod by clicking options, photos, and then choose from where to sincronize my pictures. I choose a folder that I'm sure is smaller than the space left in my ipod and still it won't work... the ipod says its synchronizing but the number of pictures in my ipod remains 0.

    Hi Monica,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
There seems to be a lot of problem loading photos onto iPod, as you will find if you do a search in Search Discussions.
Can you do a restore (Restoring iPod to factory settings) first to clear everything off your iPod.
Next try syncing just the photos only to prove that they will load to the nano.
The problem seems to be that the nano needs more space then the total amount required by photos.
If that doesn't fix it we'll have a look at some other stuff.

  • Photos into the iPod Touch

I searched the posts and everything I have found seems to be regarding the same problem but using Windows....
I am trying to upload photos onto my touch. Whenever I try to upload a picture I get the error saying something like "this photo is not viewable on this iPod". I know that is not the exact message but it is something along those lines.
Any suggestions on what I should do? I sized the pictures down to 320x240, and they are named something like "IMG_804.jpg" minus the quotations of course...
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.
I resized the photos using GraphicConverter. The only reason I did resize them is the original photos are large and I don’t want to take up that much space on my iPod.
I should probably mention this as well: I have not tried Syncing the photos I want onto the iPod. I use my iPod on two computers and I don’t want the iPod to be Synced with just one of them. I have added everything else by just dropping it into the iPod via iTunes and that has worked fine for the movies, music, and podcasts. It recognizes the photos that I am trying to drop into it just like the other media but then the error pops up.
Not that it matters but the exact error that I get is:
“Some of the files, including “IMG_0874,JPG” were not copied to the iPod “Touch” because they cannot be played on this iPod”.
    Thanks again.

  • Can I load songs and photos into an Ipod Nano I have purchased as a gift?

I have purchased an Ipod Nano 2GB as a gift for my 9 year old granddaughter for Xmas.
Before sending it I'd like to load some songs & photos on it, from my own Ipod Library and computer.
I'm concerned that doing this from my computer will only complicate things when they receive the Ipod and then install it on their own computer. The family is not real computer literate and the simpler the better.
What advice does anyone have - best to leave the new Ipod untouched and empty and have the initial install with Itunes/Apple on the computer they will be using? (Windows XP as well)
    Thanks very much!

Personally I think it would be best to leave it. To use an iPod on multiple computers it has to be set to manual update. If your granddaughter wanted to update her iPod automatically (which is the simplest way) whatever you put on would get erased as the songs and pictures wouldn't be on her computer. Why not send along an iTunes gift certificate with it so she can buy some songs she'd like? Also, point the family to this web page, there's lots of useful information for new users here: iPod Nano Fast Start: New User's Guide to iPod Nano

  • STILL some confusion re: importing photos into my iPod

Hello - The helpful Zevoneer gave good instructions on how to import photos. BUT... I'm worried about one thing: When I click on the Photos tab and select "Sync photos from...", a window pops up saying "Are you sure you want to do this? (Essentially) Your whole iPod will be written over..." and I don't want to do anything hasty and have to load in everything in my iPod all over again (the contents are not still in my iTunes...) The question is: Is it OK to click on the blue button the says (something like) "Sync to iPhoto," and then will I have a choice as to where to navigate to??? Thanks so much again.

You will only lose what current photos you have on your iPod. It only erases that portion of the ipod and has no effect on music, videos, etc. Unfortunately, all of your photos must be from the same computer. If you sync photos from one computer, then want to resync the ipod with photos from another computer, you will have to erase the photos from computer #1 and you'll only have the photos from the last sync. Maybe this will be something to be fixed in a future software update for the ipod classic...

  • Ive been trying to put more than one photo album into my ipod touch but after i put in one it erases the other. how can i put them both

when i try to sync photos into my ipod touch itunes only lets me choose one folder to put in itunes doesnt let me select the folders that i want to put it anymore like it used to. how can i fix that?

You can connect the iPod to a computer and download the Podcast app using iTunes >  https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/podcasts/id525463029?mt=8
Or, on your iPod, tap the App Store then type in Podcast then download the app. (It has the same purple icon as the one at the iTunes Store on a computer).
Only iPods with Bluetooth capability can, "pair" with Bluetooth BOSE devices.
On an iPod touch, tap Settings > Bluetooth.

Thank you for your reply . The folder I am synching to is located on my desktop . I have tried to synch to the same folder from the my documents folder and from the my pictures folder . I read / watched the info you suggested . Is it possible that my problem is itunes does not have 'write' access to the folder I am synching to ? How would I enable write access to the folder . I do not see the option in the folder properties menu . I noticed the folder is identified as read only in the properties menu . also i have noticed that the ipod photo cache folder created in the photos folder contains multiple folders , some of which contain ithmb files and a photo database file .

  • I am having a big problem downloading my individual phot folders into my ipod...i need detail on how to do this....and how do i get rid of my doubles and triple pictures????very confussing!!!!

Can anyone tell me how to downlad my photos into my ipod touch and still keep them in their folders.....my ipod will not accept all my picutre...after i download my pictures and combined  folders which mixes all the pictures.my ipod states....960 items could not be synced...see itunes for more infomation!!!!. and afte all the pictures have been downloaded.. i still have room for more pictures....very frustrating!!!!

When you connect your iPod to iTunes, look on the Device/Photos pane and choose the one folder on your computer (for example "Pictures Set A") that you want to use to Sync with your iPod, by using the Browse button.
In that folder ("Pictures Set A"), put any folders that you want to Sync with your iPod (such as "Holiday in London" and "Day Trip To Sydney" etc. etc.).  They are known as sub-folders. Sync the iPod to iTunes.
On the iPod, in the Photos App, you will see a folder named Photo Library which has all your (Synced) photos in it, but without folders. Beneath the Photo Library folder are all the sub-folders, such as "Picture Set A" , "Holiday In London" and "Day Trip To Sydney". Each sub-folder has only the photos that are in that folder on your computer.
For the photos that did not Sync to your iPod, I suggest you follow the message that you saw, "see iTunes for more information". The most likely explanation is that they are in a format the iPod cannot handle.

  • Photos deleted from Ipod when deleted from Computer

    Hi everyone,
After I download my photos into the ipod (60gb)I usually delete them from the computer.
The next time I connect the ipod to download new pictures, the ipod deletes the old ones and adds the new ones. Is there a way I can keep all my photos on the Ipod after deleting them from the computer? Thanks Rebel1622

Are you serious? I have the exact same problem and do the same thing other guy did. Surely there is some way to manuallly add new photos and not have the photos on ipod that were deleted from the computer deleted from the ipod as well automatically???? If that's true, that's nuts. No wonder I've never used Apple products till now.....

  • Getting my photos off my ipod

I need to get my photos off my ipod and onto another computer... How do I do that? How do I access them at all? I have almost a gig of photos on it but I have no idea how to access them.

    hi dcopen
even if you cant do it by iTunes, its pretty simple to do it with the normal WinXP explorer, or from my PC, just tell ya somethin, this will only work if you set up iTunes to also copy full resolution photos into your iPod
    here's what you gotta do
. set up windows to make it show all hidden files and folders
. go to my pc, right click your iPod, select explore, a new window will open
. you'll see some folders, like music, calendar, notes, etc, etc
. in that same window, double click photos
. now double click the folder "full resolution"
. you'll see a folder or several with year numbers
. copy all of them into your HD, preferibly into my docs, but not into my pictures folder
. now, explore in-depth those folders
. if you get into one you'll see now several folders numbered in order
. if you get into any you'll see your photos
. now just copy and paste all the photos into my pictures, it'll be tuff but its worth the effort
i dunno if you can use winzip, winrar or winace? to get the pics out of them, try it out, please leave a comment for results...

  • I just updated my iTunes, and I need to delete photos from my iPod 4, and there is a Photo Library that synced to my iPod when i plugged it into my computer, and now it doesnt have the option to delete them off my iPod. How do I get rid of these photos?

I just updated my iTunes, and I need to delete photos from my iPod 4, and there is a Photo Library that synced to my iPod when i plugged it into my computer, and now it doesnt have the option to delete them off my iPod. How do I get rid of these photos? I have read other questions that say to plug the iPod into the computer and like un-sync it, but I downloaded the new iTunes and it doesnt have a photos tab. Does anyone know how to solve my problem? Please and Thank You, Megan!

Just what did you do to the computer?
It sounds like the iPodf is seening the iTunes libary as a new libary.

  • Is it possible to install a 160 GB Toshiba slim-fit HDD from an iPod Classic 2009 model into a iPod 5th Gen Late-2006 model that originally had a 30 GB Toshiba drive?

Is it possible to install a 160 GB Toshiba slim-fit HDD from an iPod Classic 2009 model into a iPod 5th Gen Late-2006 model that originally had a 30 GB Toshiba drive?
I have had my 30 GB iPod video for about 7 years, it was a gift and has served me well. Unfortunately it was in my pocket when I brushed up against a very powerful magnet which latched onto the unit and scrambled the hardware. Sad iPod icon.
I was told I probably need to replace the HD in order to get it back to working order. What I am wondering is, would I be able to replace it with a larger capacity drive so long as I got a unit that was slim enough to fit into the casing?

Have you tried resetting the PRAM? http://gigaom.com/2011/07/26/when-to-reset-your-macs-pram-and-smc/
Which Windows version are you trying to install? If I remember right, you can't use windows 8 on these older machines.
Other than that it's hard to say what could have gone wrong. I can only suggest going through the steps again carefully and making sure everything worked the way it should.
Have a look at this article too for a slighly more verbose instruction on making a drive bootable: http://www.instructables.com/id/Install-Windows-7-without-USB-or-DVD-without-upg ra/
