Installing Photoshop 5 -- Error on launch
I am trying to install Photoshop 5 on an XP machine. It installs fine.
However, once it starts I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop has encountered a problem" and must be closed.
Any ideas how to fix this issue?
Thanks.
Are you talking about photoshop cs5 or the old photoshop 5?
Is xp updated to the sp3 service pack?
Do you notice if the splash (startup) screen is hanging in a particular spot (ie Reading preferences) or does the startup screen complete and photoshop opens, but then you get that message?

When it written error message again I started Terminal and written on it: sudo chmod 777 (path of folder in which was problematic file) and press return, it will need to type password, so type it and press return, then in Creative Cloud app press "try again" or "continue" (I have it in CZ lang., so I dont know, what's written in English) and that's all! It may write during that installation just another similar error, so with same propositions, another path and click to continue installation until its done!

I bought a student version of CS5 and every time I try to install Photoshop I keep getting errors that say I need adobe flash 10 to install that one program. All of the other programs in the package installed fine except for that one. What can I do?
Before running the install, uninstall all instances of Flash Player on Adobe AIR on the system. The installer uses these components, but frowns on updated versions and wants to use its own one.

Photoshop error when launching
I am trying to open my Photoshop but immediately when launched I receive the following error. Any thoughts on how to correct?
For starters You could read this:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375816?tstart=0
Other than that as with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems You might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences You’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, etc.) might also be beneficial. -
I installed Photoshop Elements 12 and its icon is on desktop, but when I launch it, I get error messages.
How to get it working? My guess is that you won't be able to do much if you threw away the serial number before using it. The serial number will not have been externally visible on the box though... doing that would make it available for use by anyone who sees the box in any store.
To locate the serial number:
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html
If you remain unable to locate the serial number you might need to head back to wherever you purchased the product to confirm whether or not you might have thrown out the serial number or if it could even possibly have never been provided.
Beyond that you need to resolve serial number issues with ASdobe Support directly. Here is a link for chat:

Error when launching Photoshop - cannot modify scratch disk preferences
Hi all,
I recently installed photoshop CS5. When launching it I get the following error:
'Could not open a scratch file because the disk is not available'.
I went on this forum and found out several threads relevant to that issue. I did the following to try to fix the problem:
Did a clean uninstall of CS5, made sure no file pertaining to CS5 were remaining
Reinstalled CS5
As the problem was still occuring I did the following (as hinted in the threads)
I reset the photoshop preferences according to http://forums.adobe.com/thread/370735?tstart=0
I modified the setting of the drive HD (read & write everywhere, share folder checked)
I then tried to change the scratch disk preferences (launch photoshop then click Option+Command+Shift)I can select my disk but the selection does next time I try it is still the same (c.f. screen shot): first = startup, second = none, etc.)
I would really appreciate if someone could help me on this one.
Thank in advance,
FrancisI have one drive, but the point is rather that when I select it (=macintosh HD), it is still Startup that appears in the menu as depicted above on the next launch.

Photoshop CS4 stopped launching, no error message. Mac os 10.5.8 on PPC
Hi all,
I´m using Photoshop CS4 on this computer (Powerbook G4 PPC with OS 10.5.8, 10 GB HD free, 1.5 Gb Ram) without problems since 3 years ago.
2 days ago it stopped suddently working. It just doesn´t launch, without error message. On that days I was using an external USB hard disk that crashed...
Bridge runs ok but when I try to run Camera Raw, I get the message "Camera Raw editing is not enabled. Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature".
I already re-installed photoshop, uninstalled it and reinstalled, I tried also "App cleaner" and also I tried deleting all folders related to photoshop CS4 and reinstalling. I also repared disk permissions. I tried to use the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool but unfortunatly it doesn´t run on this machine.
Next step would be to format the machine, but I don´t want to do it unless it´s strictly necessary..
Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance!Alas, Photoshop 7.x is not supported in Leopard (nor in Snow Leopard)—as far as I know.
What's worse, Photoshop 7.x is out of the upgrade path. -
I downloaded and installed Photoshop Elements 13 & Premiere Elements. I then launched Photoshop Elements Organizer and imported approx. 28,000 photos (including some videos). A window opened indicating that many of the photos had tags, and asking if I wanted to add the tags. I said yes, and the process began. When it reached 60% a window opened indicating that "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working", with the only option being to "Close program."
I've tried to open organizer several times, but it goes immediately to "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working". I was able to open Editor, and tried opening Organizer from Editor, but encountered the same problem. Same when I opened from Premiere Elements.
I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled Elements 13 three times, twice using the Akamai downloader, and once using the Alternate method. It said installation completed, but when I opened the program, it went straight to the error "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working". These times I didn't get to import my photos or their associated tags.I already checked that and I have the latest drivers for my printer. Thanks for the suggestion though. Dennis

Getting "could not initialize photoshop" error message on launch.
I'm getting this error message when launching Photoshop CC.. I uninstalled it, then reinstalled it. I'm not sure if I updated before I had this problem initially, but I'm getting the same message on launch of the newly installed PHotoshop. I'm running Mavericks on a MacBook Pro.
Help?!Can you confirm that this is Photoshop 7? The version that dates back to 2002?
What operating system are you using? It sounds like a reasonably up to date computer, and I am not sure if Photoshop 7 would even run on Windows 7 and Windows 8.
You have all sorts of issues if it is Photoshop 7. Being 32 bit, it won't be able to access most of your 8Gb — probably more like 2.5Gb. It might also have problems with large HDDs. Hmmm.... just read your post again, and I see you have a 1.5Tb boot drive. I have a strong feeling Windows 7 would not play nicely with that.
So let's confirm what Photoshop version and operating system you are using before we get carried away. -
I just tried to install Photoshop 4.0 to my iMac (version 10.9.3) and I was informed that there was an error with the software. I could not install it. Where do I go from here?
Photoshop 4.0 is not compatible with MAC 10.9.3 . You will face issues as when Photoshop 4.0 was launched there was no MAC Mavericks and Adobe has not tested the version on new MAC OS.
If you want you can download the latest version of Photoshop CC 2014 and you can use it as a trial for 30 days and you can plan to switch to the latest version.

"Failed to initialize" error message when installing Photoshop Elements 12
Hi,
I kepe getting an error message when trying to install Photoshop elements 12. I have re-downloaded the files multiple times from different places and none work so I know it isn't a corrupted file. Tried a system restart. Tried using support advisor but it found no issues.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.9 on a 2012 Macbook Pro that meets system requirements.
Any help is greatly appreciatedI have gone through the install logs and the error I am getting is 'PIM - Error could not create PIM Common Folder Path'. I have gone to the PDApp folder and it does not have any permissions on it. I have gone to the folder PDApp and it doesn't have any permissions, I'm not sure what to do from here. The PDApp folder is a alias that leads to the Adobe Application Managers folder. Sorry for the font being bold, it wouldn't turn off after pasting the error message.
