Installing Photoshop Elements 8 options

Hi
I have  just installed Photoshop Elements 8 on my Mac Computer,  However am not sure what the other options are  e.g
Adobe Extension Manager CS4 and Supporting Components : "Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit CS4" and "Adobe fonts all."
As  I was unsure I only installed Photoshop Elements 8 .
Please advise the necessity to install the extra options?  and whether if it ok to install these extra options now, that is, that there will not create problems doing the installing of the extra components separately from Photoshop Elements 8?
Hopefully this makes sense.
One extra question which has to do with my having uninstalled Photoshop CS4.  When I now try and open a PDF files I receive an error message " Adobe Acrobat Could not install correctly.   ( this relates to an update to  Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional) A required component was not found.  Please restore the Adobe Acrobat folder from your original CD.
Hopefully you can assist with this question.
Thank you
Sue

Yes the first part is correct,  However, it seems that acrobat has disappeared with uninstalling Photoshop CS4.  The issue is that I am now unable to open PDF files .  Seems I need to to reinstall just acrobat and am I unsure how to do that ?
I first had inkling that Acrobat had gone missing after uninstalling Photoshop CS4.
A message came through that I could download a patch version 8.1.7 for Acrobat.  This installation failed.  Message received was
"Adobe Acrobat could not install correctly"  - A required component was not found.   Please restore the adobe Acrobat folder from your original CD .
Hope this helps
thanks
Sue

I have just installed Photoshop Elements for a MAC. MY photos were in iPhoto, I have 47,000 pictures and my drive on my Mac laptop is not large enough. I store my photos in iPhoto on an external drive. Can I store all my photos on an external drive when using Photoshop Elements? If so, in what format should they be stored in? I do I move them from iPhoto to the new storage location? How do I call them up in organizer? And how do I call them up to Edit? I do not want to store any pictures on my Apple Mac laptop. I want to store pictures on several external devices.

Yes you can store images on an external hard dive and have them referenced in Organizer. It’s best to export copies to separate folders/subfolders and that will ensure iPhoto does not get corrupted.
Alternatively you could continue to use iPhoto with the Elements Editor set up in the iPhoto prefs as your external editing app. Then there is no need to use Organizer and no need to duplicate your images.
You can then call up photos directly from iPhoto as normal with the additional option e.g.
Double-click on a thumbnail to edit in iPhoto editor.
Control (right) - click on a thumbnail to edit in the elements app.

I downloaded and installed Photoshop Elements & Premiere Elements.  I then launched Photoshop Elements Organizer and imported approx. 28,000 photos (including some videos).  A window opened indicating that many of the photos had tags, and asking if I wanted to add the tags.  I said yes, and the process began.  When it reached 60% a window opened indicating that "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working", with the only option being to "Close program."
I've since tried to open organizer several times, but it goes immediately to "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working".  I was able to open Editor, and tried opening Organizer from Editor, but encountered the same problem.
FYI, I have an open case (#0214505556), but have not received the help I need.

This issue is with respect to Elements 13.

I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled Elements 13 three times, twice using the Akamai downloader, and once using the Alternate method.  It said installation completed, but when I opened the program, it went straight to the error "Elements 13 Organizer has stopped working".  These times I didn't get to import my photos or their associated tags.

I already checked that and I have the latest drivers for my printer. Thanks for the suggestion though.  Dennis

  • How do you subscribe to Photoshop Elements 9 Plus after you have installed Photoshop Elements 9?

I just installed Photoshop Element 9 and at the time of installation did not subscribe to Photoshop Elements 9 Plus because I did not need the online storage space.  Since it appears that all artwork,( ie. frames, themes and backgrounds), are no longer part of the basic package but are available in plus, I would like to now subscribe to the online plus software.  I have not been able to determine how to do this even after online chats with an Adobe technician.  Can anyone help?

I have followed through with option 2 but my PLUS benefits have not shown up on my software - even though I
paid for the Plus upgrade and received confirmation email...
    Can anyone help?

  • How do I  install Photoshop Elements 10 to a secondary drive?

How do I  install Photoshop Elements 10 to a secondary drive? I have a solid state drive as the primary drive and a secondary drive that has much more storage where I would like to install PSE, but there is no option to pick the drive when you install.

Which operating system are you using?  There is typically an option to select the installation location.  Keep in mind though that there are many support files which will permanently need to be installed on your Operating System drive.  In addition temporary files will also need to be installed during the install process.
If your SSD is so low on space you may want to consider getting a larger drive which can accomodate the operating system and applications installed on the same drive.  You are also loosing many of the performance gains of the SSD by having your applications still installed on a standard hard drive.

  • Cannot install photoshop elements on XP

when I launch the autoexec of photoshop elements, i got the initial screen with the possibile options. When clicking on the "install photoshop elements", nothing happen but a window open of Window installer that provides explanation about all the parameters to set in order to use the install command. There is then an "ok" at the bottom. When you click you close the window and everything goes standstill.
Does someone can help or explain what happens?
Note I have tried to use all the setup.exe that exist in the file but without results

Perhaps you can post a screenshot of the error you are referring too?  Also if you can please try opening the setup.exe file directly from the Photoshop Elements folder.  You can do this by completing the following steps:
    1. Go to Computer and right click on your DVD drive.
    2. Open the Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 folder
    3. Open the Setup application
This should allow you to launch the setup application manually if the autoplay is not working for some reason.

I just installed Photoshop elements 11. Install of the application was fine. When I clicked to open Organizer, I received a messaging indicating that it was out of date and coudl not be upgraded. How can I address/fix this?

Thank you for the replies. I'm afraid neither one helped.
kglad, I never get to any error code so your link can't help.
Jeff, I looked at your link and
    a) again, I never make it to an error code
    b) I'm definitely connected to the internet
    c) I can access secure sites; I tried connecting with the firewall disabled and the same thing happened, so I don't believe it's a firewall issue.
    d) I don't understand the checking host sites - this is far too complicated for a novice user. It should not be this difficult to get a software running. I don't want to mess with these kinds of settings.
    e) I followed the steps for the global sign in root CA and my screen looks the same as the picture here.
I can't activate the software offline as there is no option to generate a response code when I click on having trouble connecting to the internet. All I get is a prompt to change my password.
If the problem were simply connectivity from my computer, then why does the box completely freeze? Can't cancel, can't click on the little X to close it, can't right click on the box to close it. I have to reboot every single time. I know others have had the same problem and I haven't found any answers that I could apply.
I don't understand for the life of me why Adobe does not have TELEPHONE customer support. I have spent 2 days on this, this is crazy.

  • Can't install Photoshop Elements 2.-won't accept serial no.

I'm trying to install Photoshop Elements 2.0 on a PowerBook G4 running OS 10.4.11 and 9.2.2. Copied the serial no. from the CD case, but keep getting told it's an invalid serial no. What do I do now?
    Thank you

    Hi Jean,
I would recommend contacting our support team to have the serial number verified.
You can contact support using this link: Contact Adobe Support
On the support page, click on "I need help activating or deactivating my software".
You will then have an option to chat with a support representative or call support by using the phone numbers listed on the right side of the page.

  • Can Not Install Photoshop Elements 12:  Error

When I try to install Photoshop Elements 12 I get an error early on in the install.
    Installing on Mac.  OS 10.8.5.
    The log is...
    Exit Code: 15
Please see specific errors below for troubleshooting. For example,  ERROR:
    -------------------------------------- Summary --------------------------------------
    - 0 fatal error(s), 1 error(s)
ERROR: Media DB Error : 12
What causes this error and how can I fix it.
    Thanks..
    Rob

    Hi GreatPhotography,
Thanks for sharing the files. The media_db file in the folder you shared is empty (it is just 1 KB in size). So, something has gone wrong corrupting the file. Do you have Casper Sky installed on your machine or any other third party software that you think might have caused this damage?
Just to be sure that this couldn't be a copy paste error, would you please check the size of the media_db.db file in the following path on your machine:
    "/library/Application Support/Adobe/caps"?
If it is sure that the afrementioned file is corrupted, then installation/uninstallation of any adobe product could cause you trouble. Then, our options are:
    1. Uninstalling adobe products & installing again on a cleaned up machine & take a back of the required folders for any such future instance
    2. rename this folder and try intsalling PSE 12 & live with install/uninstall problems of rest of the products; the corruption of this file might also mean issues with updates for some.
    thanks.

  • "Failed to initialize" error message when installing Photoshop Elements 12

    Hi,
I kepe getting an error message when trying to install Photoshop elements 12. I have re-downloaded the files multiple times from different places and none work so I know it isn't a corrupted file. Tried a system restart. Tried using support advisor but it found no issues.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.9 on a 2012 Macbook Pro that meets system requirements.
    Any help is greatly appreciated

I have gone through the install logs and the error I am getting is 'PIM - Error could not create PIM Common Folder Path'. I have gone to the PDApp folder and it does not have any permissions on it. I have gone to the folder PDApp and it doesn't have any permissions, I'm not sure what to do from here. The PDApp folder is a alias that leads to the Adobe Application Managers folder. Sorry for the font being bold, it wouldn't turn off after pasting the error message.
