Installing Photosmart 8250 printer on a Windows 8.1 computer

Till recently, I ran the printer successfully on a Windows XP computer. However, I recently bought a Windows 8.1 computer. The installation CD supplied with the printer does not recognise Windows 8.1. I have downloaded the printer installation file hppiw.exe, which is supposed to provide access to up to date drivers. However, all this does is go through a Discovering Device process, then it shuts down.
Can anyone advise how to access & install a suitable printer driver?

  • My photosmart 8250 prints the headings & color blocks on the diagnostic pages, but not the text.

My photosmart 8250 suddenly stopped printing ( I have Windows 7). The cartridges have ink & there are no error mssgs. The self-test disgnostic prints the headings, borders & color blocks, but not the text under each heading. I ran the diagnostic utility & it said there were too many print jobs (?) and I cancelled them as directed.I re-ran the test & It  said there were no problems found. But it still isn't printing. I went to the control panel and ran THAT diagnostic & it said it found some problem with the USB connection, but that it was resolved. But, it STILL won't print.  I tried everything the diagnostic utility suggested - uninstalled and reinstalled the updated  software & driver, restarted the computer, etc. and it still won't print.

Hi - Try following the steps in this document.  It will walk you through cleaning the rollers, which in many cases is the cause of this type of problem.

  • Lion - Installing Photosmart C4580 Printer

Does anyone now how to install a HP Photosmart C4580 printer on Lion?  I downloaded the printdrivers.  When I go to add the printer it tells me that the driver is available from Apple then after searching it tells me that the driver is currently unavailable and instructs me to go to the manufacturers website.  The HP website tells me to go to Apple.  Any thoughts or suggestions?

First of all, just want to check that after downloading the driver you did run the installer? I ask because there has been new users who download the driver but don't run the included installer, thinking that they can just browse to this downloaded file as you do in Windows.
If you did run the driver installer then when you get the message stating that the driver is available from Apple, do you still find that the Print Using menu is active and that you can click on "Select Printer Software"? If yes, then should be able to browse to the driver that you installed on the Mac.

  • Installing additional 32bit printer drivers on Windows Server 2008R2

    Hi,
I'm trying to add additional printer drivers (32bit) on a 64bit server so that 64bit and 32bit clients can add printers from the print server. I have found several posts about this and none has helped me so far. I found one from GeorgeLawr that
    I copied below:
I have found the best way to do this is:
Install the printer/driver for the type of device you are installing on the server, i.e. Xerox printer WCP7765 and driver for this printer (64-bit).
    Share the printer out (optional).
Test print to make sure it works ok.
Then from a 32-bit client (must be logged into the client with an account that has admin rights on print server), browse the printer server shares, i.e. go to "Start\Run" and type \\printservername\ then go to "Printers and Faxes" right-click
and select "Connect" for the required printer and it will say it does not have the required drivers and will ask if you want to install.
Install the required 32-bit driver and it will install on the print server. You then have to enable this in the printer properties.
In the print queue window that opens up after you install the queue, go to "Printer\Properties\Sharing\Additional Drivers" and enable the "Intel Windows 2000 or XP" option (note, if you are doing this from a Windows 7/Vista client you might
have to click "Change Sharing Options" or something, before you can click "Additional Drivers" option).
And that's it. You should now be able to go to a different 32-bit client and add the printer and print no problem.
This one gets me closer to an answer; however, on step 5 once it asks for driver path, I direct it to the CD that has the driver and I get a message that states something similar to "this driver is not correct for this version of Windows"
It's like it's looking for 64bit drivers and the drivers on the CD are 32bit. The printer on the (64bit) server is already installed. I'm on the 32bit client.
Can somebody help me get this correct?
    Thanks,
    MC

    Hi,
We can add drivers for client computers running 32-bit or 64-bit versions of Windows.
To add client printer drivers to the print server
    ==================================
    1. Open Print Management.
    2. In the left pane, click Print Servers, click the applicable print server, and then click Printers.
    3. In the center pane, right-click the printer to which you want to add additional printer drivers, and then click Manage Sharing.
    4. Click Additional Drivers. The Additional Drivers dialog box appears.
    5. Select the check box of the processor architecture for which you want to add drivers.
For example, if the print server is running an x64-based edition of Windows, select the x86 check box to install 32-bit version printer drivers for client computers running 32-bit versions of Windows.
    6. If the print server does not already have the appropriate printer drivers in its driver store, Windows prompts you for the location of the driver files. Download and extract the appropriate driver files, and then in the dialog box that appears, specify
the path to the .inf file of the driver.
Note: You might not be able to extract some printer drivers without installing them. If this is the case, log on to a client computer that uses the same processor architecture as the printer drivers that you want to add to the print server, and install those
printer drivers. Then use Print Management from the client computer to connect to the print server, and add the additional drivers from the Additional Drivers dialog box. Windows automatically uploads the drivers from the client computer to the print server.

  • Hp photosmart 7350 Printer Driver for Windows 7

I can't seem to locate a Printer Driver for my HP photosmart 7350 printer. Hp states the driver for the HP deskjet 5550 should work, but it doesn't.  I just bought a new computer and was hoping not to have to buy a new printer.

    Hey farhanchd,
What is the full name of your HP Laserjet printer?
There are several models in the HP Laserjet 1100 series and would need to know the exact name to give you precise instructions.
I do know that the Laserjet 1160 has a driver available through the Windows Update system and may be the same for your printer.  Please take a look at the information in the link provided below.

  • Photosmart 2710 prints garbage from Windows 8.1 but prints OK from Windows 7

Photosmart 2710 connected wirelessly to Verizon FIOS router, prints fine when sent files from Windows 7 clients (also connected wirelessly). When sent print jobs from a Windows 8.1 wireless client, printer produces page after page of single lines of mostly graphics characters, with an occasional page of several lines of what appears to be XML.
Printer driver was installed using the standard 'Add printer' button on the Devices and Printers dialog under Control Panel.
I have downloaded and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which found no problems, but its Test Page produced the same erroneous behavior.
Windows 8.1 on Asus X551 notebook, Intel Celeron 1007U x64 processor, 64-bit OS.

  • Installing Photosmart C5100, C6100, C7100 in Windows 7 RC

While evaluating Windows 7 (I love it), I installed my networked LJ P2015dn and CLJ 2605dn using the drivers that came with Win7. I also installed the PS C6180 the same way and then deleted it. It installed beautifully (as did the Laserjets), but in so doing one gives up the scanning function. This afternoon, I finally got around to attempt an install from the original CD that came with the printer.
It started, checked for updates, and then gave me the dreaded - This is not Vista, please install on a Vista machine - error message. When I got the box to try to install via the recomended settings, which sets up the compatibility mode, it tried to install but that failed as well as running it from CD doesn't seem to work.
I then went to the driver download page, read through that, and downloaded the install file for Vista 64bit. I copied the file from the download folder to my desktop and then started the program. Again, I got the dreaded error message, but this time when I clicked on install via the recommended settings, it did go all the way through and sucessfully installed not only the printer driver, but the scanner driver and Solution Center and Photosmart as well.
For those looking for Win7 RC drivers for their printers, the Vista install disc most likely will not work. However, downloaded the Vista full feature driver from the website most likely will. It will fail on the first attempt, for the Vista drivers seem to have a check in them to make sure no one accidently installs them on XP, but when you then get the compatibility box asking if you want to attempt with recommended settings, it will probably work.
The download I used was on the C6180 driver page, but my Vista disc states it is for the C5100, C6100 and C7100 series. The download package appears to be the same version as on my CD, but as the download package expands into the temp file, apparently the compatibility mode can open all the files, where it fails on the different directories on the CD.
Hopefully, this will help others with this printer series, and others, evaluating Windows 7 RC (build 7100).

  • Hp photosmart 8250 printer won't stop printing

my photosmart printer, no matter how many copies I am trying to print, will print until the paper runs out.  I have wasted so much paper, thinking it will print the picture I want to print and stop.

My Photosmart C309a does something similar but I am printing a multiple page pdf. I've gone to so many forums and tried so many different work arounds, all to no avail. I am convinced the HP software is junk.
Temporary fixes I have tried are:
go to c\windows\system32\spool\printers and delete whatever files are in there. Next,  go to Admin tools>services>print spooler and click on properties tab. Set it to automatic. Remote Procedure Call (RPC) also needs to be runnung. Just look a little further down on the services list and you'll see it. Set for automatic also. Then uninstall and reinstall your print software.
I have found that the printer behaves normally for a while, but then it forgets to talk nice to Windows and starts messing up again. Hopefully this helps. Good luck.

  • I can't install my new printer in Bootcamp (Windows XP).  Brother says I might need an emulator program?

I have had my Mac Pro notebook for almost two years.  I regularly use Bootcamp for Windows XP and have never had any compatibility issues.  I just bought a Brother printer and had no problems installing it on the Mac side but cannot get it installed on the Bootcamp side.  I called Brother who told me they cannot quarantee compatibility with the Mac computer and to contact Apple regarding an emulator program.
I have not faced any such issue up to this point.  Anyone have similar issues?  And what did you do?

I would re-post in the Boot Camp forum for your best chance at an answer.  Good luck.

  • Photosmart C309a Printer Driver for Windows 8.1

I have downloaded and uninstalled/reinstalled too many times to count and wasted 2 days plus.
Still it shows driver error or lack of connection with USB even though it searches and finds printer and serial number and runs test pages (print & scan).
But it will not run HP software suite ever since I have Windows 8.1. Coincidence?

  • Leopard and HP Photosmart 8250 printer

How can I print in B&W...Since upgrading to 10.5 from 10.4, the color filters in the dialog box are gone and there is no option for B&W printing. HP says this is an Apple problem they do not support my printer anymore. Possibly new drivers will be made available, but when?

HP will have to provide the Leopard compatible driver and if they don't, then they are the ones who aren't providing support for your printer. It's not Apple's responsibility to provide the drivers for your printer. If HP doesn't provide a driver, you might be able to find a third party driver on the internet.

  • 8625 failure to print anything from windows 8.1 computer on wirelessnetwork

I installed the HP Officejet aio yesterday and I cannot get it to print anything from my computer.  I installed it on my home network.  My office mate has the same computer and is running on 8.1 and he can print to the 8625.  But I cannot.  The printers does show up in the control panel as the default printer when I send a file to be printed it says it's printing but I get nothing.  What should I do, I'm really PO'd about this.

Hopefully one of the following solutions will help you.
If you have seen issues where your laptops/tablets has been taken from a private (home) network to a public network  and then not been able to print when returning back to your private (home) network.  This is most likely due to the public network settings not being reset back to the private (home) network settings.  If this sounds like an issue you are having- try resetting your network settings by following the steps in the documents linked here:
For Ink Printers, please visit this document to help resolve your issue:
Print Jobs are Stuck in Queue
For LaserJets, please visit this document to help resolve your issue:
HP Laserjet - Printer offline and unable to print on a network in Windows 8.1
Install this Microsoft patch to make sure this private-public-private network issue does not reoccur. It is part of the April 2014 Windows Update package for Windows 8.1 and Server2012 R2 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355).
If you experience this issue before you apply the patch, you must manually reset your network settings for this patch to function. Please refer to the above documents for manual reset help.

  • I am trying to locate an HP Photosmart 7960 printer install disk. Any ideas how to get?

    Two questions....
I have an HP Photosmart 7960 printer and we have a new computer. We cannot find the install disk. I called HP and after about 2 hours of "help" was told that they can't support the printer anymore - it's too old. None of the on-line downloads from HP worked.
I have TONS of ink for this printer...
The ink cartridges are 56, 57, 58, and 59. If I cannot locate an install disk it may be worth my purchasing a printer that uses these cartridges. How would I find out what printers are available that use these cartridges?
