Installing Plug-ins LR 2

I have not been able to successfully install plug-ins. I have tried four different plug-ins from the plug-in web site. In each case the file downloads and extracts successfully but when I use the add button on the plug-in manager screen I get the following message:
"An error occurred while attempting to load this plug-in."
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

What plugins? Where/how are you trying to install?

It has a button that says, install, and one that says, click here to find out what plug ins you need. I've tried pressing both of them on different occasions but no luck. Checking your list of plugins, a common plugin that you do not have is Java, it may be trying to install that one. You can get it from http://java.com/

  • Re-install plug-ins after upgrade to CC

The chief thing holding me back from upgrading to CC is the prospect of installing all of my plug-ins, actions, brushes, etc. again.
When I upgraded from CS5 to CS6, this took days, and proved a major pain.  I'd like to upgrade to CC, but not if I have to spend days re-installing plug-ins, fonts, brushes, actions, etc.
Is there a way I can upgrade from CS6 to CC without overwriting all of my stuff?  In a dream world, I would download and install CC, and at first start-up, there would be all of my stuff exactly as I had it in CS6.  If I can't get this or something like it, it's probably not worth it to upgrade yet.
Thanks for your time and help!

KB the process has not changed.  If you use Third-party plug-ins and brushes the process will be the same as you have experienced previously.  I would recommend contacting the Third-party plug-in manufacturers to verify they are compatible with the CC versions of the Adobe Creative applications.

Not quite sure what your question is - I simply don't understand it.
Shouldn't you rather install Adobe Reader to deal with PDF documents?
Please explain in more details if that doesn't answer your question.

  • Problems installing plug-ins (and even Adobe updates) to Photoshop CS5 Extended on a new Win7 64-bit laptop.Instead, a message box pops up on the CS5 screen saying "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document."

Problems installing plug-ins to Photoshop CS5 Extended on a new Win7 64-bit laptop.  (Same CS5 and plug-ins installed OK several years ago on a Vista laptop.  Now I'm just trying to migrate everything over to the new laptop.) Even some Adobe updates won't install.  Instead, a message box pops up on the CS5 screen saying "could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document."   Any solution?

CS5's automatic update mechanism is broken, perhaps because it is no longer updated and can't cope with the newer ways of updating.
So this means you will have make a list of the updates that failed, go here: Product updates
    and manually download/install from there.

  • Flash plug-in not listed in the Safari installed plug-ins page

    Dear all,
I'm running Mac OS 10.5.8 on a Intel Imac and I'm facing the same problem since the first time I wanted to upgrade the version 10 of the Flash plug-in.
I have different accounts and various internet browsers (Safari, FireFox, Opera, Chrome) only Safari, on my main account (admin), causes problems. Actually the plug-in (10.3) is properly installed in  /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/, so common to all accounts (the users' Internet Plug-Ins folders are empty) and it is visible from the System Preferences application.
    Internet Plug-Ins folder content:
    AdobePDFViewer.plugin
    CANONiMAGEGATEWAYDL.plugin
    CANONiMAGEGATEWAYLI.plugin
    DirectorShockwave.plugin
    Flash Player.plugin
    flashplayer.xpt
    iPhotoPhotocast.plugin
    JavaPluginCocoa.bundle
    npContributeMac.bundle
    nsIQTScriptablePlugin.xpt
    Quartz Composer.webplugin
    QuickTime Plugin.plugin
    QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
    VerifiedDownloadPlugin.plugin
But Safari doesn't lists the flash plug-in in the installed plug-ins page and returns a missing plug-in error message as I visit any website containing a flash movie. When I replace the current plug-in with version 10.0.r2 it works fine.
Before installing any upgrade I first run the uninstaller, restart the computer and then install the newest version. I tried many things to fixe this very annoying problem without success. I'm not going to list all of them but I mainly cleared Safari and Flash Player preferences, Safari Cache.db, removed all other plug-ins (to check for conflicts). I also used some tools as Apple Disk utily and OnyX to repair disk permissions and fix other possible problems.
I would be very grateful if you could help me!

    Hello Chris,
Any other suggestions? Because this story drives me crazy !
I don't know if it matters, but  Flash CS4 is installed on my Mac.
Event if it doesn't make sense I tried to clear any file related to the flash plug-in, Flash Player and Safari
    Safari:
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Cache.db
    Flash:
    ~/Library/Caches/Adobe/Flash Player/
    ~/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/
    com.macromedia.Flash Player Debugger.app.plist
    Flash Player Debugger_00000000-0000-1000-8000-0016CB846CCB_CrashHistory.plist
    Flash Player_00000000-0000-1000-8000-0016CB846CCB_CrashHistory.plist
    com.adobe.flash-10.0.plist
    Flash 10 MRU
    flashplayer.xpt
I have uninstall Flash Player Debugger and the Flash Plugin
    removed all plug-ins from /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Replaced all previous versions of Flash player by the latest version (10.3r183)
I ran all OnyX maintenance scripts and repaired disk permissions
After restarting the computer I installed the plug-in and replaced all previous plug-in version everywhere
    e.g. : /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash Player/Flash Player.plugin
Restarted again and then launched Safari. The plugin is well in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, but not listed in installed plug-ins list
I repeated this "procedure" several time, from different accounts, I also removed the admin rights on the problematic account and perform the installation from a new admin account without success!
I can drop any plug-in in the Internet Plug-Ins folder and I only have to refresh the the Installed Plug-ins page in order that Safari takes it into account. All, but the flash plug-in!
I really do no understand why Safari can't "see" newer plug-ins than the 10.0 version.
I'm lost and ran out of ideas!

So, any ideas, how I can manage this?

Eine gute Anleitung dazu findest du unter folgendem Link.
    Tutorial: Lightroom Plugins installieren

  • Windows users heads-up: If you installed plug-ins under \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightro

The SDK documentation has always recommended that you install plug-ins in the App Data folder:
In Windows XP, "C:\Documents and Users\username\Application
    Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules"
    In Windows Vista, "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules"
If you've followed this advice, you can stop reading this message. Nothing will change for you.
It has always been possible, though not documented or recommended, to install plug-ins in the folder "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2\Modules\".
When we release the final of version 2.3, this path will be changing to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2.3\Modules\" and we will not be moving files from the old location to the new.
You will either need to move those files manually, or (better yet) move them to the App Data folder instead.
Mac users: We're not planning any change to the install paths on the Mac for 2.3, but this is a good opportunity for you to verify that you are installing your plug-ins in ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules, as recommended, and not inside the Lightroom package in the /Applications folder.

It seems that the suggested location is not working with 2.3RC on Windows XP SP2:

  • Problems Installing Plug-ins

I recently found this cool little plug-in that would let iTunes use my media direct buttons even when iTunes was running the background, but I've had trouble installing the Plug-in. According to Apple my iTunes data files should be located under User and then my user name etc. However, my iTunes is located in my program files and no plug in file exists. There is also a file for Mozilla plug ins under the iTunes directory and am curious if this could be conflicting with iTune's capacity for plug ins. I've also tried creating a plug in folder under the mymusic/iTunes/iTunes plug-ins, but didn't accomplish anything ( I didn't expect it too since that method of installing plug ins is used for XP and I'm running Vista). I've tried putting it under the general directory of itunes and the Mozilla plug ins but neither have had the desired effect of activating the plug in. Any help would be appreciated.

  • No destructive editing using installed plug-ins in the sample editor.

It is a shame that it looks like there still is no destructive editing using installed plug-ins in the sample editor. Seems very obvious to me that this feature should be included in Logic. Very disappointing. I’m assuming that you will be able to do this via Soundtrack Pro, but that’s just another layer added to the work flow.

    fermusic wrote:

While everything you say is absolutely correct, in terms of being able to do this within Logic itself, there are times when using Soundtrack Pro does make more sense for destructive printing of AU FX's.
High pass filtering a vocal track with a lot of plosives comes to mind. It's easier to destructively apply the AU high pass filter on just the plosive syllable, or waveform in STP, than in Logic.
Same goes for some extreme cases of De-essing.
With STP selected as your external audio editor, it's very easy to use from within Logic. The two co-exist quite gracefully.
I'd personally love to see Logic adapt some of STP's destructive capabilities, and I'd actually be surprised if we didn't see that at some point in it's evolution.
But I say none of this to dismiss what you've generously offered here. The information you provided in your first post is important for the Logic novice to be aware of.

  • Where does Logic Pro 7 install plug-ins?

Apologies, but I cannot find the answer to this question. Thanks in advance for any help!
Where does Logic Pro 7 install plug-ins by default on the computer? I have searched all through the Macintosh HD Library and with Spotlight to no avail.

Logic (and most other DAW host) applications deliberately do not make their plugins phycially separate AU (or VST) plugins that get installed in the Compononets folder. They do not want you to be able to use then with any other program. They are "inetgrated" into the code, and so not usable outside the app. Or the idea is, you don't get the plugins unless you buy the host program (and it is also a way to lock you into using their DAW software).
There was once I think talk of making some Logic plugins available as a 3rd party package, but that may have been before the Apple acquisition. So if you want your work to be portable to other DAW programs, then you are better off not using any of Logic's built-in plugins (and other 3rd party plugins do what Logic's plugins do, often better, though obviously you must pay for 3rd party plugins).

  • How to install plug ins?!?

haha well i got some plug ins and I took a stab at installing them but I can't seem to find them in Logic so I must have them in the wrong folder. I have logic pro 8 btw. Thanks for the help!

    1. Logic works with AU plugins, VST won't work.
    2. AU plugins all have the suffix .component. Not all files with the suffix .component are AU plugins though.
    3. ONLY when the .component file is in *Library/Audio/Plug Ins/Components* or in the *Users/'you'/Library/Audio/Plug Ins/Components* folder it can be picked up by Logic.
    4. If it is there but Logic doesn't pick it up, it probably means that the Plug In is incompatible (like the free TC Electronic M30 reverb on PPC), or broken.
    5. Most plugins come with an installer that puts it in the right location. If you just have a .component file, just copydrag it to either of the above mentioned Plug In folders.
    regards, Erik.
