Installing Portal w/o 9i App Server

Can I simply Install Oracle Portal off the 9i CD w/o the entire App Server. I have WebDB 2.2 and I want to upgrade it. Plus on another machine I have OAS 4.0.8.2 and I want to add portal, but not ready for 9I app Server Yet??

So instead of the full .jar installation at the oracle install, browse to the HTTP Server? Can this co-exist on a different listening port with an existing IIS Server on port 80?
thanks,

  • JetSpeed Portal in Sun Java App Server 7

We are attempting to set up Jakarta's JetSpeed Portal 1.5 as a prototype (strictly out of the box initially) on our system, which is a Windows 2000 based OS, running Sun Java Platform Edition ver 7.0.1. We have had several issues getting it running. The main issues have been related to the Java Classpath and the .jar files that the App server is referencing. The documentation on the Net has been VERY sketchy as it relates to running JetSpeed on Sun Java. Most all the documentation and discussions that reference JetSpeed are based on running it in Tomcat (since they are both from Jakarta). We are already using Sun as our App Server and would like to continue doing so.
Anyway, JetSpeed is now up and running, however, we are stuck on one error. We have tried modifying the Classpath, pointing to different .jars, etc, with no luck. The consistent (in several portlets) exception we are getting in the Global Admin Portlet for example:
org.apache.turbine.util.TurbineException: Error rendering Velocity template: /controls/html/jetspeed.vm: Invocation of method 'getContent' in class org.apache.jetspeed.portal.security.portlets.CacheableStatefulPortletWrapper threw exception class java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError : null
We have seen this error referenced on the Net, but all the recommendations to fix it have failed. Does anyone:
    A. Have any documentation or experience running JetSpeed in Sun One (Sun Java)?
    B. Know how to resolve this issue?
    Thanks in advance!!!!

  • Oracle Portal with 10G Enterprise App Server

I'm just getting back into the Oracle portal. We have certified Oracle 9i AS/portal in the past. How much different is it in the newer release. It seems that when I go to download it, everything is pointing back to 904 level installation. Has it changed?
    Thanks,
    Scott

Oracle AS Portal 10g and Portal 9.0.4 are different names for the same animal. Be sure to apply the patch set to upgrade to 9.0.4.1. Then you'll have the latest, greatest version.

  • SRDemo in portlet on App Server 10.1.2

Is it possible to deploy the SRDemo tutorial app within a portlet on Application Server 10.1.2? I've tried to do this, but get errors when I try and register the portlet provider. So far I have:
    - installed wsrp containers to the app server
    - changed DataModel and UserInterface J2SE from version 1.5.0_06 to User 1.4.2_06
    - removed all attributes from web-app tag in web.xml
    - replaced jsp:output tag with jsp:text tag in all jspx pages
    - deployed the web-app to the server
This all runs fine. The problem comes when trying to register it within a portlet. I've followed the instructions in the owcs_10132_cm_jsf_bridge.pdf document, but when I try to register the provider I get the following error:
An error occurred during the call to the WSRP Provider: java.rmi.RemoteException: Runtime exception; nested exception is:

Does anyone have any idea what the problem here is?
What may be a connected question, is how can I tell what servlet / JSP version an application is, and what do I need to change to convert between 2.4/2.0 and 2.3/1.2.
    Thanks,
    Barney

It doesn't seem to matter what application I try to deploy, I get the same results, it appears to be more to do with the ADF runtime installation. I can reproduce this now with the following:
    Environment:
    JDeveloper Studio Edition 10.1.3.2.0.4066
JDeveloper projects configured to use J2SE 1.4.2_06
    Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2
    Oracle Portal 10.1.4
    Steps:
    1. Create new OC4J Instance WSRP_01
    2. Install wsrp-install.jar
    3. Install ADF Runtime from JDeveloper to App Server / WSRP_01 instance
    4. Deploy demo app - app works fine.
    5. Register portlet provider - fails with "Illegal Namespace prefix: xml"
    6. Create new OC4J Instance WSRP_02
    7, Install wsrp-install.jar
    8. Deploy demo app - deploys successfully, but fails with ClassNotFound when run (ADF runtime not installed to this instance)
    9. Register portlet provider - registration successful!
    10. Install ADF Runtime from JDeveloper to App Server / WSRP_02 instance
    11. Deploy demo app - app works fine.
    12. Register portlet provider - fails with "Illegal Namespace prefix: xml"
From watching the TCP packets to/from the server, the reason it fails in steps 5 & 12 yet succeeds in step 9 appears to be the XML returned from the getServiceDescription method of the WSRPServiceDescriptionService. In the cases where this fails, there appears to be no XML prolog in the file, and the xmlns:xml="http://www.w3.org/XML/1998/namespace" namespace declaration is explicitly added to each node that requires it. In the case where it succeeds, the file does contain an XML prolog line, and does not explicitly declare the xml namepsace.
So I'm left with the conclusion that the libraries used to generate this service description response are changed by installing the ADF runtime, and the newer versions are not compatible with the XML parser in the application server. As many other people seem to have this working, there must be some problem with the libraries I'm using, but I have no idea which ones.

  • App Server Fails to Start after Installation

    Hi,
I've spent a whole day struggling with this, looking through forum discussions and trying out every single suggestion I've come across in the forums. I'm running out of ideas now and really appreciate any help I can get with this problem.
I'm trying to install SJSC2 (also tried with SJSC2u1 with the same outcome) on a new HP notebook (nw9440) running WinXP_sp2. I'm using the default installation done by HP.
My installation path is C:\Java\SunCreator2 (C:\Java\SunCreator2_1 for update 1).
After the installation the App server fails to start up and gives the below error in the server.log.
    # An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine:
    # EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x6d779c9d, pid=5368, tid=5760

Upon looking at the install.log in the rave_home directory, I noticed the below sequence of errors.

I've tried every workaround I've seen in the forums such as installing under different paths (both with spaces and without spaces), cleaning all the temporary files in the Temp directory, renaming the productregistry in the windows system directory. Each time I get the exact same error in the install.log.
I also tried installing the stand alone SUN App Server 8.1_02_2005Q2 as well as 8.2. I don't seem to have any issue with this installation or running of the stand alone server at all on the same machine.
Really appreciate any help I can get. TIA....

    Hi,
After spending more time looking through the forum, I came across the below thread which has worked in my case (though it was suggested for Sol10x86).
    http://forum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=62404&messageID=243113
This is the workaround that worked in my case.
    > $ cd <Creator_Home>/SunAppServer8/lib
    $ mv processLauncher.xml processLauncher.xml.trayIcon
    $ cp processLauncher.xml.bak processLauncher.xml
    # If you have a domains/creator/config/domain.xml
    $ cd ../bin
    $ ./asadmin start-domain creator
This started the app server. After that I was able to start and stop app server within the JSC as well.
Only difference between these two xml files seem to be,
    processLauncher.xml.trayicon
    <main_class classname="com.sun.rave.tray.RavePEMain"/>
    processLauncher.xml
    <main_class classname="com.sun.enterprise.server.PEMain"/>
Possibly pointing to a bug in the "com.sun.rave.tray.RavePEMain" class.
Thanks for your suggestions guys... and especially to Marco and Greg.

Thanks for your help in advance
    Manish Garg

    Hi Manish!
You should install RSM on the different application server, since RMS using OAS 10.1.2, but RSM, RPM and other applications need OAS 10.1.3.

  • "Unable to load IAmWebPolicy" with Policy Agent 2.2 on Sun App Server 8.2

I'm trying to install the Policy Agent for App Server 9.0/9.1 to App Server 8.2 (which claims to be supported). Identity Manager is the target resource. I get this when I try accessing the /idm root context:
Exception caught in AmWebPolicyManager initializer: Unable to load IAmWebPolicy: com.sun.identity.agents.policy.AmWebPolicy

    You were absolutely correct
I've resolved this issue - the problem was caused by two things:
    1. There is a new version of a library called libxml2.so that I had to get from Sun (they provided version 2.6.7)
    2. My web server with the agent on it is on a seperate box from the identity server. These two servers were out of sync in terms of their system time (ie, the solaris box with the agent / web server was about 8 minutes ahead of the solaris box with the identity server)
Once both of these things were fixed (the time issue most importantly), the web server would not hang anymore.

  • Installing Portal server, does it include App server?

    Hi All,
I hope that you can give me a pointer on this one.
I want to use Portal server to develop portlets for .
when i will install it, would it automatically install Sun Application server with it or do i have to do it seperately.
I understand there is a Identity Server that must exist.
Will it be installed too or should i do it manually and then somehow show where app server/identity servers are?
If so , how can i show portal server where App Server is.
    Thank you all very much
    Serge

    Hi Serge,
Just run the JES installer and select to install the portal server, the installer will automatically select the pre-requisites. When doing a sandbox installation, just install all components on one server:
    - application server
    - portal server
    - access manager
    - directory server
Be sure to read the release notes and the JES installation guide.

  • How to Install BAM Alerts in multi environment in 2013 R2? How to point to a single BAM Portal(Default WebSite) configured on BTS APP server1 from BTS App Server 2 and BTS App Server 3 ?

Please guide me on BAM install in multi environment for 2013 R2. Any blog which can show, how to configure multiple BTS servers to point to a single BAM portal created on the first server.
The BAM portal is configured on the Default Website on the first server.
How Could I Point to the same portal while configuring other 2 BTS servers?
What are the authentication mechanisms, I have to use at virtual directories and root level?
    Racha Rams

The document for installing BAM for B2K13 in a multi-computer environment is available as part of the BizTalk documentation available for download from
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=35552
You will most likely also need to refer to the TechNet Blog
http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2013/07/26/fixed-biztalk-2013-bam-tools-configuration-problem.aspx which mentions having to setup SQL Mail feature in SQL Server 2012 and post that configuring both the features BAM Tools and BAM Alerts together.

  • What are the components I need to install on my apps server

    Hello All,
Our Oracle DB 10.1.0.3.0 is installed on Linux Server.
Oracle 10g Developer Site is installed on windows XP.
I have upgraded form & reports form earlier version 6.0..
Now I need to install Oracle Application Server on windows 2003 (x86) 32 bit.
    I never done this b4.
    My question is that ,
what are the components I need to install on my apps server to run Forms & Reports?
I am installing apps server on one machine.
But when I read documentation they said its better to install on two machine.
    Regards,
    Diana

    Yes,
I'm sorry to tell you but for forms and reports (BI) you need to install almost everything, you need to install an infrastructure as first components, and then a midtier for AS with Business Intelligence option, in this second component you can chose to install Reports, forms, OCJ4, Portal, any other component you need or you thik you will need in the future.
You can install both in one Server if you don't have resources for 2 or 3 thinking on load balance. It works fine for me in one server but my operation is not too big.

    3. Install SCS in machine 1
    4. Install DB instance in machine 2
    5. Install PAS in machine 1
The installation had been fine. I had checked by confirming at the MMC. In machine 1, I could see SCS, PAS and DB running. I had also logged on into portal and NWA.
Then I installed Additional App server in machine 2.
Howerver, in the end of the installation it said that the installation has been stopped.
Later when I see the MMC, I found that I could see DB, PAS and AAS only. SCS was missing and
    the system could not start.
I am very much looking forward to hearing from you what went wrong during the installation of AAS.
The log generated in the sapinst.log is really long. I got server error when I put the log data in this message. I can send it through mail if need be.

  • Installing policy agent 2.1.1 for app server 7

    Hi,
I've been trying to install the policy agent on app server7. I read that the policy agent had to be installed on a different instance of the app server than the one where the portal is running (portal runs on instance server1). How can you make sure of that?
I'd like to use the agent to only control the access to a webapp that is deployed on server1 instance. I don't want it to interfere with the portal but at the moment it does.
Now I can't use the webapp (access forbidden) and the portal ("Authentication Service is not initialized").
all the components of JES but the gateway are installed on a single machine called crpbioweb.crp-sante.healthnet.lu
here is the statefile of the installation

There are 2 things I'd like to know:
How can I make sure the agent is installed on server2 instance and not on server1?
How do you choose to install the agent on server2?
If I correctly installed the agent on server2, then why does it block the webapp and the portal on server1?

Before installing the agent I already manually created a second instance of the app server on port 81. the problem is that I don't know how to install the agent on server2 instance. the only parameter that has something to do with port or instance is the "PREF_PORT". but according to the doc http://docs.sun.com/source/816-6884-10/chapter2.html#wp20595
it says that the Preferred protocol listening port is the preferred port number on which the application server provides its services.
I'm not quite sure what this means. Do I have to enter the port of the instance where I want to install the agent or the port I want to protect with the agent?
Another way to check if I installed it at the right place would be to check in the app server admin console. the installation created a new item in App server instance > server 1 > security > Realms. Do you know if this is the correct place to appear? or should it be in server2?
    thanks
