  • Installing iWork (from disc) to new Mini

I'm trying to install iWork '06 from disc on to my new Mac Mini.  I'm using my old iMac as a shared DVD drive, and the Mini can see it, and can see the iWork disc, but when I click on the disc, I get and error that says, "The operation can’t be completed because the original item for “iWork ’06” can’t be found."
What's the workaround here?  I installed Logic from discs in this way, so I know the process works.  How do I the iWorks to install?
(If Apple would simply let us transfer our retail licenses to the App store, life would be easy.  But no...)

Time has value. You will likely expend $60 of your personal time trying to arm wrestle with iWork '06, when you could have invested that sum in newly purchased Pages, Numbers, and Keynote from the App Store. And, for a fraction of the time investment.

I have a white Macbook 2009 on OSX Lion. It came with the OSX Snow Leopard CD, I erased the HDD and am trying to install the OSX from disc but am getting "cannot install OSX from disc" message. What can I do?
I got the macbook from a friend a few years ago and it already had OSX Lion installed. Whenever it boots from the Snow Leopard disc it says it cannot install from disc. Is there anythingI can do or should I take it to an Apple store to get them to boot OSX Lion for me?

Insert your Snow Leopard disc and restart, press and hold the C key as soon as you hearthe startup chime, hold C until you see the Apple Logo. When your computer starts up you'll be at the first install screen, choose your language and click the arrow to go to the next screen. This screen has a menu bar, from the Utilities menu select Disk Utility, select your hard drive, this is the one with the manufacturers name or numbers, click the partition tab and then delete any existing partitions by selecting them and clicking the minus. In the drop down box select one partition and click apply. Name your hard drive and click erase. When it's done quit DU and go back to the installer, install Snow Leopard. When the installer is done and the computer is back up and running run Software Update to get to 10.6.8

  • Trouble installing CS6 from disc

    Hi,
I'm trying to install CS6 from disc onto my Windows Vista 64 bit laptop.  There doesn't seem to be a Setup.exe file?  Has anyone experience this problem and have a solution?
I've tried downloading CS6 from Adobe and enter my serial number from my box.  I get a message stating my serial number is invalid.  Why is that?
    Appreciate any help.
    Thank you.

According to the Adobe website, CS6 products do not support Vista
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/cs6-system-requirements.html#CS6_Design_ Standard_system_requirements
Win XP or 7 (or 8) only.
To run CS6, you'll have to upgrade your operating system or your computer.

  • How to install Photoshop Elements 10 (not Premiere) from disc?

Can anyone help me?  Purchaed Photoshop Elements 10 at Best Buy.  Finally figured out how to get serial number.  Figured out you have to insert disc 2 first.  Wizzard comes up. Only comes up with choice to install Photoshop Premiere Elements 10, ( not Photoshop Elements 10).  If I move to "next"  it will allow me to install "Trial" version of Premiere, or enter a serial # (for Premiere).  If I enter the serial number obtained, it indicates "invalid serial #".  Have tried with two seperate purchased disc sets.  Best Buy is useless as far as help goes, same with Adobe!  Can anyone help?

Have you read this article: Install Premiere Elements, Photoshop Elements? Also what are your system specs? Is there a previous version installed or any otehr Adobe products for that matter?

  • Can't install CS3 from discs on my iMac

With the "application" disc in the computer, it will start running the install.  Then it stops, spits out the CD and asks for the Adobe ExtendScript Toolkit 2 disc.  Where is that?  Be nice if the discs were labeled plainly!
I went online, found that application, downloaded it, burned a disc and tried installing again.
Once again, it stops and asks for the Toolkit, but when I put in my burned disc it tells me that I can't install two things at the same time.
I'm going quite nuts.  I need to be able to run the programs that I PAID FOR but CAN'T INSTALL.  Help me please!!!!

don't burn a disk. just install from the installation files like they were designed to be used.

  • Trouble installing MacOS from Disc

I mainly use windows on my imac 2010 and recently the computer all of a sudden took an hour too bootup and was VERY slow to do anything. I tried starting my antivirus but it wouldn't even startup. I thought that the macOS partition would be fine, but it also was in the same situation. I was able to run DiskUtility and I found tat there was nothing wrong with the state of the HDD. I decided to just start over and factory reset and install everything. I then used my macOS install disk and deleted everything on the HDD, once I tried to install with the disk it took a very long time (like 4 hours) then it got stuck at "11 min left", I looked at the error log and it seems to just keep looping on this error "could not get darwin_user_dir, falling back to nstTemporary directory". Could someone please help? Should I reformat my HDD?

Your hard drive may be failing. One indicator of a failing drive: slow operation on both the Mac and Windows partitions. Another indicator: inability to reinstall OS X from the original installation discs. Disk Utility and even the Apple Hardware Test provide little useful information in a situation such as yours. However, desktop drives typically have a lifespan of 4-5 years, so failure would not be surprising at this point in time.
You could try to reformat the HDD and reinstall OS X again, though you're likely to hit the same error/timeout road block that tripped you up the first time if the hard drive is failing. So, alternatives:
-- Replace the hard drive. You'll find good instructions at iFixit.com and OWC (macsales.com). OR . . .
-- Install OS X (and, if you need it, Windows, too) on an external drive. You'll get best performance by using your fastest port--that is, FireWire 800 rather than USB 2 on a mid 2010 iMac.

  • How do I install CS2 from discs so I can update to CS3

I have a mac pro, I have CS2 discs and have the serial numbers for an update to CS3 however I cannot install CS2 on my mac pro.
I am also frustrated that no matter what I do I cannot get in contact with Adobe.

CS2 will not install on modern Intel-based Macs. It is written for PowerPC based Macs only.
That being said, you don't need to install CS2 in order to install your CS3 upgrade.
Just install CS3, enter your CS3 upgrade serial number then enter a valid CS2 serial number.
If your CS2 serial number is not accepted, try using the one published by Adobe at this link
Error: Activation Server Unavailable | CS2, Acrobat 7, Audition 3

  • After upgrading to Mavericks, can't install programs from discs

I am unable to install photoshop elements 12. I've upgraded to Mavericks, and this is the first disc I've tried to install. The dvd drive does read regular dvds, but spins, then ejects the install disc. I've reset the PRAM and puffed air in the drive slot. The disc is just out of the box, no scratches. I tried to install Premier Elements too, but same spin, then ejection. Do I need to change some setting somewhere or has the dvd drive developed an issue.

You can start by doing some basic resets such as a iMac SMC and PRAM reset, you may need to do the SMC reset 2-3 times. Also you can restart in Safe Mode to clear some caches. If  you continue to have problems post back and there are other things to try such as cleaning the SuperDrive or using an external DVD drive.

  • Can't install CS5 from disc

I can't install Photoshop CS5 because the installation asks me to insert CS5 disc but it alreay is inserted.  This is after entering the serial number and signing in.

you can click or double click the setup file.
or if you follow all 7 steps, you can download a trial via one of the links on this page using a browser that accepts cookies: http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
and activate with your serial number.
if you have a download problem, you didn't follow all 7 steps.  typically, failure to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 is the problem, but your browser must also allow cookies so that's (a restrictive browser setting) another potential source of problems.

  • PSE10 installation from disc 2 fails.

Each time I attempt to install PSE10 from disc 2 I get an error message saying "This application package could not be opened.  Contact the vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

I’m using Windows 7, so I tried to install Photoshop 10 using Disc 2.  Anyway, the problem was resolved.  When the Photoshop install failed I decided to try to install Premiere.  That worked flawlessly so I tried again to install Photoshop and it also installed without a hitch.  The solution seems to be to install Premiere 10 first!

  • MacBook Pro 17" Unable to re-install OS from DVD

MacBook Pro 17" (2007 model # A1212 / MA611LL/A), was experiencing some difficulty printing, so i tried rebooting.... Mac did not boot - got as far as the Grey screen with Apple Logo, and the circling "clock" - inserted the Leopard DVD to run Disc Utilities - Permission Repair failed immediately... Ran Disc Repair, fixed a few things, then ran it again, everything appears ok. tried permission repair again, failed immediately again. tried reinstalling OS 10.5 - installation failed early on in the process - about 1/4" into the progress bar. Tried again, same. shut down overnite tried again in morning, same result.
Ejected the Leopard DVD and inserted Install Disc 1 from original Tiger 10.4 CDs, held down "D" to access the Apple Hardware Test, ran the "Perform Extended Testing" - took 14 minutes, and results - No Problems. so must be software related, but i cannot reinstall the software?

Despite the results of the AHT, I am wondering if your hard drive may be on its way out. When you boot from a disc and go to Disk Utility, is the S.M.A.R.T. status verified? Even if it is, that may not be trustworthy. The average useful life of a hard drive is 3-5 years, and since I believe your Mac is from 2006 or 2007, your drive would be in this range.
At this point, I gather you have backed up all your information and there is nothing left on the drive that you need to save?
One thing you could try is to boot from your Leopard install disc and then erase and reformat the drive. Here is a link to Kappy's Extended Hard Drive Preparation which might be helpful:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1885474&tstart=60
If you can erase and reformat the drive, you can try once again to install Leopard from disc.
If you succeed, here is a utility that you can use to check out the physical health of your hard drive:
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/32454
You can download the demo and run it several times for free.
    Good luck!

I have installed Premiere Elements 11 from a disc I bought from Amazon.  I keeps asking me to re-install or if it does start stops a few minutes after I start a project.  I have a windows 8.1 PC.  I have tried numerous times to install the program and also to open it as Administrator as suggested by a friend but it still refuses to work.  I need direct help from Adobe but don't know how to get to them on this website as they seem to rely on user forums to advise customers.

  • Trouble Installing Premiere Pro from CS 5.5 Master Collection Discs

All of the Master Collection programs install properly, except for Premiere Pro. I retried several times to install it, but to no avail. Finally, out of frustration, I downloaded a trial version of Premiere Pro just to see if it would install, and lo and behold it worked. Except now the Master Collection Serial Number won't work in the trial version of Premiere Pro. Help?!?

L Greg Volsen you need to install Premiere Pro from the Master Collection installer for the serial number to be accepted.  There is some very good news here though as Premiere Pro did install ok.  I would recommend removing Premiere Pro and then running the Adobe Support Advisor to help identify any problems.
Once you have reviewed the solution provided, or even if it was unable to identify any problems, and either install Premiere Pro, to get your immediate need resolved, or install all of the applications.  If you do run into errors you can run the Adobe Support Advisor again to look at why the most recent installation may have failed.
Alternately you can also review the installation logs manually by reviewing Troubleshoot CS5 and CS5.5 installation with install logs.
Feel free to respond to this thread if you have any questions or run into any additional difficulties.  I believe the Premiere Pro CS5.5 trial is also fully functional so you may still be able to get your immediate needs addressed.
