Installing PS CS3 with Win 7 64 bit

I will soon receive a new desktop pc with Win 7 64 bit as the OS.  I plan on installing my existing copy of Photoshop CS3 on this machine.  Are there any issues I need to be aware of in order to get a clean installation?
Thanks,
Ken

Too bad... if you were going to have Win7 PRO or Ultimate, you could use http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

  • Is iPod 5G compatible with win XP 64 bits edition ?

    Hello
I bought a 5th generation iPod (with video).
I followed installation instructions, my iPod is detected by windows, but not by iTunes, or by iPod updater.
I tried the step given by Apple in the support section, but nothing happened, my iPod work with windows, but not with iTunes.
So i asked me if this is not an incompatibility with win XP 64 bit ?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Did you see this link as well?
iPod appears in Windows Explorer but does not appear in iTunes

Hi, I have installed boot camp with wins xp home but i can't get on line with it. can only one help please.

Please close this thread, I have managed to get a hold of a DVD including all the drivers, so I suppose that will work, if not one way then another.
Thank you for the quick answers.

  • Cannot install CS3 on Win-7 64-Bit

    I have a brand new Win-7 64-bit system.
I still have the install files for CS3 Web Premium that I downloaded 3 years ago.
    I have had various problems.
Installed at first and programs hung or failed to open.
I tried going back to a restore point and installing again.
I read somewhere this may have been a bad idea - don't know why.
However, my latest methodology has been:
Copy the install files to the new machine.
Deactivate the software on the old machine.
Extract the AdobePDF.dll_64 from the data1.cab
Ran the install. - pointing to the AdobePDF.dll when prompted.
Acrobat 8 and shared components installed  but did not work.
Everything else says "Component Install Failed" - no other explanation or help.
Get the vista licensing patch and install it.   - when I did this I was able to get Acrobat 8 to run and not hang.
    Updated Acrobat to 8.1.3.
    Tried the install again.
I still get "Component Install Failed" for everything.  No idea why.
I have read through lots of stuff on the forums.  Found out about the AdobePDF.dll_64 and the licensing patch.
Haven't found anyone else who tried going to a restore point.  If that is my problem what do I do.  I have restored a couple of times and cannot get back to where I was on the first install.  Since I am just getting started, I could return to factory install on the machine and try again - but I only want to do that if it will actually work!!  I having been at this for two days and I would like to move on!!

OK.  It turns out the restore was in fact what killed me.  The restore removed some, but not all, of the Adobe install I had tried.  This was enough to screw up all future install attempts.
The restore point thing in windows sounds nice, but I guess it can be dangerous.
I had messed things up with all my install attempts, so I restored the machine to factory settings - a clean win-7 install - and then followed the instructions found here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2335063 and it worked.

  • Error 1720 when installing CS3 on Win 7 64-bit home premium

I've been directed to the Forum for help as the Support Tech said she could not help me as they only help with CS5.  She said that CS3 WON"T WORK on a Windows 7 machine and yet I have googled and found people who have had it work.  She then told me that they will probably experience lag and other errors once they start using it more fully.  I smelt BS right about then in that conversation.  She couldn't confirm that if I purchased CS5 upgrade that my CS3 upgrade would qualify as upgrade.  Yeah, I'm really going to spend $800 to find out (not).
Basically it ended where I either buy CS5 or go the Adobe Forums for help.
So okay here I am.  Long post (sorry) but want to get all the fact out there.
I purchased CS3 back in 2008 and installed on my XP machine.
Just purchased a new laptop with Windows 7 64-bit home premium.
Tried to install CS3 and as soon as it tries to install I get this message:
Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue.  Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance.
Error 1720.  There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A script required for this install to complete could not be run.  Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
I have tried the following solutions (found on Google), none of them work:
    1) installing in safe mode (with just Windows features in the start up)
    2) redownloading the files to ensure I didn't have a corrupted version
    3) installing as Administrator
    4) deregister/register Windows Installer
    5) looked for update to Windows Installer but mine is up to date
    6) checked that Windows Installer had "started" on my laptop (yes)
    7) used Adobe cleanup utility
    8) used Adobe licence recovery (Acrobat Pro (CS3) wouldn't get past the licence stage although it did install)
Support Tech lady said that no old CS software would work on Windows 7 BUT last night I installed Photoshop CS Version 8 and it installed perfectly.  What I noticed different is that PS CS V8 used Installshield whereas CS3 I am told didn't use Installshield.
So I am left with my new laptop using PS CS V8 with Dreamweaver MX.
BTW Dreamweaver MX installed okay and it used Installshield too - so is that the reason CS3 won't install - it not using Installshield?
Does anyone have any solutions not tried above?
Am I just going to have to use old software on my Win7 machine?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sarah

    Hi Bob,
    Thank you for your reply.
Yes I have tried the CS5 Cleanup Tool - multiple times.  Doesn't help.
I am surprised to hear that you installed with no problems in light of Tech Support being adament that it won't work on Windows 7 and is not supported.
I told Tech that I didn't accept that as there are probably hundreds of thousands of users with CS3 who have installed or tried to install on a Win7 machine and not everyone has hundreds of dollars spare to upgrade.
I only really use DW, PS and Acrobat in the Suite so I'm going to have to save to buy those products but it won't be anytime soon.
    Thanks.

  • Getting error message when trying to install Reader 9 on Win 7 64 bit w/IE 9

I hope I can be concise and not have this all sound too convoluted but I am so confused by this time that I may not be able to hide it.   I have recently bought an HP Omni 220 PC, 64 bit, with Win 7, Intel Core i7, and IE9.  Reader didn't come installed and I have been battling for weeks now trying to get it set up.
I couldn't get Reader 10 to install so I installed Reader 9 thinking to update to 10.  While I can open and read PDF files beautifully on my desktop, Reader 9 allowed me to open .PDF files online only about 2 times and then stopped.  When I tried to open a PDF link my IE 9 would crash and recover and tell me some problem had caused IE to have to close and recover.  I tried 'repairing' the installation through the "Repair" option on the drop down menu which you get when you right click on the .msi installer.  When the repair is running I get an error which reads:
"Warning 1909.Could not create shortcut Adobe Reader 9.lnk.  Verify that the destination folder exists and that you can access it."
I have no idea what destination folder this refers to or how to fix it.
I uninstalled Reader 9, attempted again to install Reader 10.  I think I've figured out that the 10 installer (which disappears and nothing happens when I try to run it) is actually a program different from the actual installation program but I fear I'd just run into this same destination folder boo-boo with the 10 installation as I have the 9 installation.  At least the 9 will run without disappearing.
In short, finally, how can I fix this Warning 1909 to get Reader 9 installed so that I can actually read PDF files in IE9 and hope to update to 10?
    Thank you,
    SouthCountryMom

Ok, I have now gotten Reader 10 installed, can open files from my desktop but IE 9 keeps crashing when I try to open PDF files even though I exited and relaunched IE 9.  I did take ownership of all the folders containing Reader 10 and then clicked OK when I got the error notice about the shortcut being installed. I did make a copy of the crash error report and it reads as follows:

  • How can I install windows XP or win 7 32 bit in MacBook Air 2013

    Hi,
I want to install windows xp or windows 7 32 bit on new MacBook Air 2013 with bootcamp 4.
Apple says MacBook Air 2013 mid 2013... Comes with bootcamp 5.
And bootcamp 5 support only 64 bit windows....apple says.
I want to install win xp or win7.32 bit with bootcamp4.
Can we downgrade the bootcamp by uninstalling or something...?
Or how can I install  32 bit windows on new MacBook Air 2013.
    Thanks I advance.
    Please guide.

Bootcamp 4 which ships with Lion doesn't support XP or Vista, only 7.  Try using Parallels or VMWare instead.

  • CUVA with Win 7 (32 Bit and 64 Bit) OS

    Hi All,
Our users are facing issues with CUVA 2.1.2.0 [ CDP 2.1(0.6) ] with Windows 7 32 Bit and 64 Bit.
On Windows 7 the CDP Driver and version is visible but not on Windows 7 64 Bit.
On both the operating systems, users are not able to access the CUVA video. The status of the link between IP Phone and video is showing as disconnected.
I know of a old document on Cisco website which says its not compatible...Any alternatives?? updates??
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ifthiquar

FYI - I have installed Win 7 64-bit on a 3 year old dual core dell inspiron 6400 with 2GB of ram and it is running beautifully.  So far, I have not seen any issues with 2GB of RAM.  Boot up really fast.  browsing seems faster, MS Office works great.
My new T400s will be next - just a bit nervous as i want to make sure that all the necessary drivers are available.

  • What version of itunes do i download that works with win 8 64 bit?

win 8 64 bit, what version of itunes can i download and install?

If you use the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer the regular download page at http://www.apple.com/itunes/download may serve up the 32-bit iTunes installer. Use the 64-bit version of IE, or visit http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1615 instead.

  • Issues installing Acrobat XI with Windows 7 64 bit

Trying to install acrobat reader on a new computer build with Windows 7 64 bit.
The installer file downloads OK and executes OK, but as it start to install I get a blank, small, dark grey window "Adobe Reader Installer"  Completely blank except for the border and title, no buttons, no words.
I've tried saving and running the installer with the same results.  Tried running Microsoft fixit with the same results.
    What next?

The same question is posted multiple times every day, and the answer is always the same: use the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
B.t.w. the name of the software is Adobe Reader, not Acrobat or Acrobat Reader.

  • My scene detect in Premiere cs3 on WIN 7, 64 bit is ghosted and can't turn on

I have my premiere cs3 on two computers one with xp pro and the other with win 7 64bit and I can't activate my scene detect on either operating system, I read manual and did some on line searches but it assumes in the tutorials it is already active. Am I doing something stupid or is there a way to turn it on
    Joan

Yeah, sorry I should have been more specific.  There is no way in Premiere to split it, which still amazes me.  HDV split works great though.  I just noticed the name of the OP, you would think that they would know that....

  • Installation error with Win XP 64 bit

I cannot install VC3 on a computer running Win xp 64-bit. VC3 tells me that it cannot install b/c I am not running Win xp. Any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Simple answer is that it is not supported. Which seems to be common among 64bit windows operating systems.

  • Problem Installing an application with wine(SOLVED)

I made a directory and installed cinema 4D and for the most part it goes fine, when it's finished installing the app it comes up and i can use it,but when i exit and try to bring the app back up with       wine CINEMA 4D.exe   i get a message saying    wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\CINEMA.exe".Also when i'm installing C4D at the directory selection menu, there's a directory /home/cube/.wine/drive.C/Programs where i'm assuming  that's where the app is supposed to be installed,so i checked it with   ls -as  and the Dir wasn't there so i created it,but when i'm back at the directory selection menu in C4D the Dir isn't there because the .wine Dir is hidden and i'm not sure how to unhide it or if that will even fix the    wine: cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\CINEMA.exe"    problem and execute the file.
Any help with this will be very appreciated .Thx

call wine as any other application that require a filename as argument. From your home directory:
    wine '.wine/drive_c/Program Files/.../CINEMA 4D.exe'
(the quote are necessary because of the space in the filename).
You can also specify a Windows path:
    wine 'C:\Program Files\..\CINEMA 4D.exe'

    Hi,
Unfortunately HP Smart Print software  is only supported for Internet Explorer versions 6 through 9. No more development after that.
