Installing PS Extended over PS standard

We have CS6 Design Standard installed on 3 computers in our building (through a concurrent educational site license). This has Photoshop Standard. I need Photoshop Extended. The cheapest route through our site license is to buy single user PS Extended stand-alone and install on my machine.
So, my question is, should I install PS Extended alongside PS Standard? Or is it better to uninstall PS Standard (which came with the suite), run Adobe Cleaner, then install Photoshop Extended?
And how will this effect Bridge and syncing color management?

There is no way to install two Photoshops. It's either one or the other. Extended will simply superceed/ replace Standard. Uninstalling beforehand will do zero to help matters along. It's simply a serial number thing that turns Standard into Extended even though you will need to run the installer again to bend the licensing in place for the new serial number. Beyond that it will simply use whatever prefs and settings are already in place.

Upgrade to Leopard
Those wishing to upgrade to Leopard should be aware that install disks can be expensive. Google for details. Leopard works well at 500 MHz with 1 GB of RAM and many happy users have less than this.
Upgrade beyond Leopard
OSs beyond OS X 10.5.8 require an Intel processor. If in doubt click the apple at the top left of your screen and select 'About this Mac'. This will give you your OS number. Then click 'More Info' to see which processor you have. If it says PowerPC you cannot upgrade to Snow Leopard and above. Can't install upgrade from Acrobat XI Standard to Acrobat XI Pro

I have Acrobat XI Standard installed on a new Dell Windows 7 PC. I just purchased an upgrade to Acobat XI Pro. I paid $199 and successfully downloaded the installation file from www.adobe.com.
When I try to install the package, the installation proceeds through a few standard screens (e.g., the Welcome screen), and then I receive a setup error:
"Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Setup will now terminate."
Clearly, Acrobat XI Standard is not a more functional product than Acrobat XI Pro. How do I get around this error so that I can install the upgrade?

The reason why you are getting this error is that you are attempting to install Acrobat XI pro over XI standard, but you cannot install the same version of Pro over Standard.
If they are different versions (like Acrobat Pro XI over Acrobat X), then it would work.

Problem Installing CS2 product over CS3 Web Edition

Hi, I recently bought the CS3 Web Edition and installed it, then uninstalled CS2 Standard edition to make room on my computer... now I realize I don't have InDesign loaded and am trying to reinstall that. However, the Adobe setup isn't cooperating at all. I get stuck on providing the Adobe Photoshop 5.0 or later cd. I install PhotoShop 6.0 into my CD drive and it won't accept it. I try pointing it to the CS3 version of Photoshop and it won't accept that either. I only want to install inDesign to the computer. Is there a way around this?

This issue was resolved by calling customer support... they were able to manually over-ride the problem and provided a key code to proceed with the installation. Also, it is possible to just install inDesign, without having to re-install all the components I no longer need.

Can't Install CS3 Extended from the Installation CD

System: PC and Windows Vista Home Premium.
Problem:
Due to a conflict with Album DS I had to uninstall and reinstall CS Extended. However, when trying to re-install CS3 Extended:
Background/Attempts to fix:
- I can not launch the installation process from the program CD.
- Nor can I explore the CD. It appears as if there are NO files on it but it uses 721MB.
- Installation has no problem initiating on an XP laptop.
- I just installed Turbo tax on the Vista PC in the same drive so its not the drive.
- Right clicking on the Rom Drive in Windows Explorer gets me as far as the installation start screen. BUT when I click on this install button I get Specified file not found
HELP!

I spent over an hour with Adobe Support to no avail. Tried:
- different,external Rom Drive
- tried a SECOND install DVD I received from Adobe last(and first)
time I tried to install CS3
- a "modified start up" installation (disabled a bunch of things),
- installing under a new account
None of this worked.
What DID work was to copy the content of the install DVD onto my laptop then to a flash drive then onto my Vista system drive and install from there. I didn't even have to re-enter my serial number for some reason.
I never resolved the issue but I am now using CS3 again. Ouch.

Upgrade CS5 Extended to CS6 Standard Mac

I own Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended for Mac.
I don't want to join Adobe Photoshop subscription CC, but want to upgrade to Photoshop CS6.
I'd like the standard version of CS6 - not the Extended upgrade as it's much cheaper.
Is it possible to buy / install an upgrade to CS6 from CS5 Extended ?

I accidentally downloaded lion. I did a timemachine back-up and tried to reload snow leopard. It will not accept. How do I re-install snow leopard over lion?

Downgrade Lion to Snow Leopard
1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions. If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

I am unable to install sql server 2008 r2 standard edition on windows server 2008 r2 sp1.
On the Setup Support Files page, choose Install this step I don't get any other window i.e. nothing happens I waited for 5-10 min. Then I checked the log file.

The following are a few things you can try:
Copy the media to the local disk drive, unzip it (in case you are installing from an ISO file, and run SQL Server setup from there.
Try to unregister and register the Windows Installer with the following two commands:
msiexec /unregister
msiexec /regserver
Try to use Process Monitor to log the detailed error produced when the installation of dw20sharedamd64.msi fails. You can download Process Monitor from the following link:

I went into the PC settings and tried to change the display resolution. This changes the size of all the icons (not only Adobe) but it does not solve the problem when I open an Adobe application (Photoshop or Illustrator)... The PC is run under Windows 8.1 and my display resolution is 3200x1800 (but again, when I change the settings for a smaller resolution, only the size of the icons is affected. Once I open the software, the problem is still there, extra-small toolbars...). Help!!!

Anything before CC is not high-DPI compatible. Feel free to continue to experiment with your system settings.

Installing Windows 7 over XP on a Mac Pro

Hi Folks,
I have Windows XP dual booting on my Mac Pro using Bootcamp. I want to install Windows 7 over Windows XP. I know I will loose all of my windows files and will need to reinstall all windows software. But will this work? Will it impact my mac os? Are there any issues I should be aware of?
Any help/suggestions would be most appreciated.

Lion is the easiet way to get current drives and because Apple security is better on 10.6.8 and Lion. Lion though really needs to reformat the drive the OS goes to (keep the old one as dual boot backup) and needs to add Lion Recovery.
There are no Apple support drivers w/o 10.6.3+.
8 is free and runs well or better -
so just boot Windows 7 and format the partitiion. What's to know? You want Windows 7 Pro if you have two processor (dual socket) or want to use more than 16GB RAM.
You do not want 32-bit. But it does matter what Mac model, 2006-7? or later. 2008 has full support for Windows 64-bit, the others don't but then you get stuck with trouble booting and trouble using more than 1.9GB making it next to impossible. That is and will be an issue.
And you need 10.6.3 DVD to have the Apple support software.
The number of threads moved and placed in wrong forum (Mac Pro turns out to be MacBook Pro) so I have to ask and because there ARE issues with Windows 7 on early Mac Pro model.

Mac OS X doesn't come with iLife applications, so you have to install them manually after installing Mac OS X.
Insert the Applications disc or Mac OS X Install Disc 2 DVD and install iLfe applications. Then, open  > Software Update, and install the latest update. If you want, you can purchase iMovie, GarageBand and iPhoto in the App Store, so you will get the most recent version

So, I purchased this laptop at a pawn shop a couple of years ago, and it has served me pretty well up until now. After the latest windows update, something went terribly, terribly, wrong. For some unknown reason I am now stuck with Windows 8.1 Evaluation with the license expired, which means it shuts itself down EVERY hour. I'm done with this, I hate the Windows 8 interface anyway, now its time to go back to something I know and love. I've read up on a lot of these posts, and joined the forums only because I did not see another post that was in direct relation to my own model number. If someone could please guide me through the process of installing Windows 7 from a disk, it would be ever so helpful. If you could also post a link pointing me in the right direction for all the drivers specific to my computer, that would be awesome as well, since I'm no techie, and really don't know a whole lot about this sort of thing outside of basic knowledge. I got my hands on a bootable copy of Windows 7. Everything loads up just fine until I make the settings to US English etc, and click install, when I do that I get this error message: "The product key does not match any of the Windows images availible for installation. Enter a different product key." Which doesn't make any sense to me, because since I've had this computer everything has updated just fine, and worked great up until this stupid update to 8.1. That being said, when I go into other options and select 'Reset my PC' I get another error message: "Unable to reset your PC. A required driver partition is missing." I've seen on some other posts where having the drive partitioned in the right way (format I guess?) is another issue with installing Windows 7 over 8. If this indeed another source of the problem, how do I go about fixing it?
