  • 'Restoring People Recognition Data' hung up

Have installed new Elements 9 and Premiere 9.
All works well, except can't get into organizer without hanging up on this
message, 'Restoring People Recognition Data'.  It shows 2% progress and just hangs there.
I have to close out of program to do anything.
    Please help.
    Thank you,

here I am one year later than others on this thread and I am having the same problem moving to PSE 11 after installing it on a new machine.  I backuped up the PSE 8 catalog on my old machine (onto a removable USB terabyte drive that includes both the photos and backup).  I moved the drive to the new machine.  I restored to new location  (also on the terabyte drive, but not the same place as the backup or the photos).
Hours later, it hungs up on "restoring people recognition".  The only difference is that my percent is 3% not 2%.  :-(
I killed it and tried to open PSE.  It stops at the same place.
    As it says on
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4083141
I tried open with shift to create a new catalog and after creating a small other empty catalog
I unchecked properties | Media-Analysis | Analyze Photos for People Automatically.
    I closed everything
Reopened with shift held down.  It asks to pick a catalog.  I switch to the big restored one and I get the same hang on restoring people recognition.
So, this did nothing to change the behavior, so I can not used PSE 11 yet.

  • Start up Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 - why does it stall at "restoring people recognition data" 42%

I just downloaded and installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 & Adobe Premiere Elements 11 (Windows,English). When it starts up it stalls at the dialogue box "restoring people recognition data" 42%.
I have to close the program then the whole thing happens again.
Pretty frustrating for $150............... to upgrade from Elements 8

This seens to be a problem of Media Analysis which generally arises if there are too many/too large assets in your catalog.
    Just try the following steps:-
    1. Go to Edit->Preferences->Media Analysis
2  Go to People Recognition options
    3. Uncheck the "Analyse Photo for People recognition".
    4. Press "OK"

  • Restoring People Recognition Data issue

upgraded from elements 8 to 11 and Organizer keeps hanging. says "Restoring people recognition data"  stays at 20% and never moves.  Tried several times.  Tried holding Shift, but not dice.

Click on the add people icon at the bottom of Organizer and leave indexing to run until complete.

  • PSE 10 - "Restoring People Recognition Data" Hangs

Just purchased PSE 10 yesterday and have yet to use it, because it hanges a 60-70% even after hours.
    Unsuccessfully tried:
    Cancel button
Ctrl+Alt+Shift button depressed before clicking on organizer
    Waiting 10 hours…
    Specs:
    Windows 7 – 64 Bit

I ended up following the work around answer at thread http://forums.adobe.com/thread/729630
Unfortunately, all recognition data is lost...
Not very please with PSE 10.

  • Restoring People Recognition Data

I downloaded elements 11 as an upgrade from elements 8. The download went fine but now I am frozen on "Restoring People Recoginition". My old version of Elements 8 is still activated. Could this be the Problem?

PSE8 should not be the problem. Try temporarily turning off auto-analysis.
Go to Edit >> Preferences >> Media Analysis
Uncheck all the boxes and click OK
If the Organizer won’t budge try getting to the prefs via the Editor:
    Edit >> Preferences >>Organize & Share
You can re-start people recognition at any time by clicking the Add People icon at the bottom of the organizer and then let the indexing run again.

  • Restoring People Recognition Data: Elements 11 Organizer is frozen @ 55%. Why?

    Windows 7 Professional O/S.
Prior version Elements 8 also installed.

The Organizer preferences may have become corrupted, needing to be automatically re-built on a re-start.
    Close Elements.
Click the Start Button and then your user name (in place of mine) and navigate to:
    C: Users >> 99Jon >> AppData >> Roaming >> Adobe >> Elements Organizer >>11.0 >> Organizer
Delete the PSA file (with key symbol) and delete Status.dat
After deleting these two files re-start the program
AppData may be a hidden system file. See the link to reveal hidden files.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 hung up at Restoring people recognition 2%

    Hello
I just buy Photoshop Elements 10. after install, I could not open Organizer because it is hung up at "Restoring People Recognition 2%"
    Please help. Thank you

Hold down the shift button when you open Elements Organizer. Try to create a new catalog and see if it launches the organizer. If it does go to "edit" menu then preferences.Under preferences you have an option to select media-analysis, click it and uncheck the option for "analyze photos for people automatically". Click OK the close the organizer. Hold down the shift key again to launch the catalog manager then select the original catalog that could not be opened then click open. Hopefully you can open organizer now.

  • Restoring People Recognition hangs PSE12

I upgraded my computer from XP to Windows 7 and installed all the updates for Windows 7 before installing PSE12.
After installing PSE12, I converted my PSE8 organizer catalog to PSE12.  I had to rename the catalog since the default name was already used.  The conversion worked fine and the photos showed up in the browser.
However, a process started called "restoring people recognition". I only used face matching a few times in PSE8 and don't really want to use it in PSE12.  Anyway  the process  showed 9% completion and stops and PSE12 organizer is unresponsive.  At this point I cannot use the organizer since it gets hung on the "restoring people ..." process even after rebooting.  Also, I looked for a process to kill in the task manager but was only able to kill the entire PSE12 organizer.  Any suggestions?

  • HT202118 after restoring my apple tv it finds the wifi network successfully then gets hung up on finding the date

date and time hang up on apple tv

Still doesn't explain why the wifi connection wasn't working properly. Also this is a messy business, having to remove the TV and place it near the computer so that the ethernet cable can be used. Then disconnect, take the TV back to the other room and connect again. So now it is connecting porperly via wifi. How come?

  • PSE 10/12 catalog backup/restore deleted my data

I purchased a new computer today and also purchased PSE 12 (I had PSE 10 running on a different machine/laptop).  On the laptop/PSE 10, I had about 20,000 digital on an external drive (all were tagged according to color, theme, etc via the PSE organizer).  All of the elements were stored on the external drive under a folder called "digital kits".  I used the PSE 10 backup utility to backup my catalog to ease the move to my new machine.  After I performed the backup, I renamed the "digital kits" folder to "digital kits-glw" because I intended to just move the external hard drive to the new computer and restore the catalog to the same path, “E:\digital kits”, as I have other software that is dependent upon that path.  The restore went pretty quickly, and I can see the correct folder structure within PSE 12 Organizer, but all I have is a bunch of blank thumbnails.  Upon closer inspection, the restore did NOT recreate the E:\digital kits folder on the hard drive as I expected.  Worse, the E:\digital kits-glw folder is virtually empty (just a handful of thumb.db files).  So, it appears the backup process deleted/hijacked all of my files.  (Note:  I did NOT verify the contents of the digital kits folder before I renamed it.)  Tech support is closed until Monday, and I’m just sick over the possibility of losing all that data, so I’m turning to you all.  Any ideas what happened and/or how to fix it?  (I have a backup of the data, but without the catalog piece I would have to re-catalog all 20,000 elements!!)

Yes, I still have the PSE 10 backup available, and plan to try the restore again but don't have much hope.  I'm stymied as to the files missing from the hard drive. Is the PSE backup procedure typically THAT invasive that it DELETES files on the hard drive during the backup?!?
I have never seen the backup process delete anything.
What I have seen is that the backup itself must be done on a separate folder, which you create normally in the backup dialog definition. Sometimes, users are not careful and  specify an already existing folder : the root folder or a previous backup folder. They can overwrite preexisting files and create catastrophe...
Check that your backup folder, wherever it is, contains a lot of files starting with 'B00...' and a 'catalog.buc' and 'backup.tly' files. If so, you are fine.
About the restore process. You want to restore to another location than before : you have to tell the restore dialog that you want to restore on 'custom location' and speficy that location : drive and master folder. Additionally, you may want to keep the folder structure (arborescence). Of course, if you specify an already existing folder substructure as the destination you'll overwrite existing files.
Also, beware of the external drive letter in Windows. It can be changed by Windows if you insert another component before the external drive; that's why it's a good idea to assign a letter in the end of the alphabet, like R,S... rather than E:.

  • PSE 9 - Error converting facial recognition data

After PSE 9 successfully converted my PSE 8 database (16.5K items), I went to open the newly converted database. I received a message that it was converting the facial recognition data.
The first time I tried doing this, the facial recognition conversion stalled at 80%. So I deleted the new database and reconverted the PSE 8 data.
This time, the facial data conversion went to 100%, but followed up with several messages that the conversion failed and that most (all?) of the facial recognition data was deleted and would have to be redone.
Fortunately, I have only played with facial recognition a bit and didn't rely on it for tag generation.
However, I thought someone might want to know about this. I would be happy to upload my PSE 8 catalog if Adobe want's to try to recreate the problem. It is almost 850MB, so it would take a wjile to upload....

What yetanotherron reported looks very similar to the problem I had after upgrading to PSE 9. The PSE 9 Organizer remained in "Restoring facial recognition data" forever and I could never use it.
In another thread on this forum I saw the recommendation to hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift while clicking on "Organizer". I did this, holding these keys until the Catalog Manager came up. I could then convert the catalog to a PSE 9 version and open it. From then on I could start the Organizer without problems.
The problem seems to be that the installation routine of the upgrade has no provision for converting the catalog from the older version.
I still have these problems with the converted catalog:
    1. all the RAW files are hidden in my PSE 8 catalog. The "Hidden" status is ignored by Organizer 9 so they are all visible again.
    2. the folder location data after conversion shows pictures in the wrong folder. That's quite a mess which I have reported to Adobe.
I'm afraid Adobe launched PSE 9 before it was ready.

  • Strange behavour of "People Recognition"

I've just installed Elements, and was looking forward to test the face recongnition. After install I marked some picures, pressed the "People Recognition" and it analyzed the images. Everything worked out fine.
Now, a few hours later", when mark some pictures and choose this feature it start the "Analysis". When the progressbar reach 100% it dissapears, and .. well thats it. Nothing more happens.
Anyone know whats going on, or how this can be fixed?

The progress bar appears, goes to 100%, and then progress bar
disappears.  But the Organizer keeps running (it doesn't crash)?
Yes, this is correct. The same thing happens when I select only one photo. Organizer do not crash.
I should mention that "Generating thumbnails" is running in the background.

  • Restore face recognition error

I have Elements 12.  I don't have rarely used the face recognition feature. When I attempt to open my organizer, I can see my last worked photos and a screen pops up saying it is restoring the 'people recognition data'. It stops at 3% loaded and a Microsoft error window appears telling me the program failed, it searches for a repair it can't find, then closes my program.  I can open the editor using a photo on my desktop but I need to search for photos in on my C drive and open them in edit one at a time. I am very frustrated.  I recently purchased a Canon 70D and shoot RAW and JPEG files. Is there a fix for this?

    > don't really understand the instructions going through the CMD route
Using CMD you could enable the real Admin account but as far as I know you can uninstall the Face Recognition software in control panel -> software
Here remove the face recognition and reboot the notebook.
    This should work too.
    >There are 2 drivers on the Toshiba website, but the latest is from 2010, did this work for you, as it didn't for me?
It would be interesting to know the notebook model. But the latest version should work properly.
Important is that you would remove the old version from the system firstly!
