Installing Quick VPN Client on Windows 8.1

Hi Guys
We use Quick VPN Client to connect to our office using the RV016 VPN Router.
The QuickVPN Client works fine on Windows XP, Windows 7. It also worked fine on Windows 8 initially.
Recently we noticed that when we try to use the QuickVPN Client to connect to our office VPN, the client application is just waiting and showing the message connection and not proceeding any further from that screen. Becuase of the we are unable to connect to our office VPN from Windows 8 or 8.1.
Does anyone here has some useful tips to make the QuickVPN Client work again successfully from Windows 8 or Windows 8.1?
Looking forward to hearing from you guys
Regards
Jo

I've been able to use Quick VPN successfully on several Windows 8 and 8.1 machines by doing the following:
Right-click on the Quick VPN desktop shortcut and then click on the compatibility tab. Under "compatibility mode, select, "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2); under "Settings", click, "Run the program as an administrator".
In Windows firewall advanced settings, add inbound and outbound allow rules for port 60443.
In Windows firewall advanced settings, add an outbound allow rule for ICMPv4
If you're using Adobe Creative Cloud, you'll need to quit the Creative Cloud Desktop application in order to use Qucik VPN. CEFHelper.exe (used by the Creative Cloud Desktop application) has a dependency/lock on wget.exe, and will cause Quick VPN to not respond at the certificate recognition phase. Quitting the Creative Cloud Desktop application (and thereby killing CEF Helper) allows Quick VPN access to wget.exe and it will then function normally.
**Edit; addendum** Windows updates as of 2013-04-20 require that rules in Windows firewall advanced settings be established that allow wget.exe both inbound and outbound. Path is %ProgramFiles% (x86)\Cisco Small Business\QuickVPN Client\wget.exe for 64-bit Windows machines.

You should be able to install the 64 bit version of the Cisco VPN software
    Latest version is vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0440-k9.exe
Using Shrew VPN is a workaround more than a solution / answer to this issue.
You should download and run MCPR.exe first, to clean out any traces of McAfee products that conflict with Cisco VPN.

  • Failed to install Cisco VPN client 5.0.07.0440 on win 7 64bit [Error 1722]

Hi Gurus, when I tried to install Cisco VPN Client 5.0.07.0440 on Win 7 64bit, the system would pop up an Error 1722( Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.) at the last stage of copying files. Then it would roll back .
I had tried to clean the temp files, restart windows installer services, and also re-register the MSIEXEC file. However, it would still pop up the error during the installation. For our company, it is a common issue. So, could you please offer me some advice on this?

    Thank you for your reply.
I had checked the software again and found out.
    1. The MSI installer package is fine, because I can install the software on another PC.
    2. It is not like that, because I can start the installation procedure and run it smoothly until on the 88% of copying files.
For now, I had only found this issue on one PC.
    Thanks.

I checked OpenVPN but it is also not available for WP 8.1.
Is there any APIs available for creating a VPN client in WP 8.1 similar to

The VPN APIs for WP8.1 are not open at this time.

try changing the MTU size on the client router to 1452

  • RV042 quick VPN client cant ping lan network

    Hi guys,
I've just created a client2gateway IPSec tunnel on RV042 and use Quick VPN client on remote PC trying to connect this router.
Quick VPN showed the tunnel was establised. But I couldn't ping the Lan network behind the router RV042.
    Can anyone help me ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I modified the client2gateway mode to Client access mode.
Now I can ping (from QuickVPN client) to 172.16.1.0/24 network behind the router RV042.
But if I put another subnet as 10.92.x.0 behind this router, I still can't ping. Since Client access configuration is too simple, I cannot find a way to modify the subnet.
Seems 172.16.1.0 is default. Am I right?

  • Cisco VPN Client and Windows XP Home

    Hello,
I cannot find any information to tell me whether Windows XP Home (Not XP Professional) is supported under ant Cisco VPN client 4.xx or 5.xx.
We have several "home" users and when trying to install it just causes the pc to do a looping reboot.
    Can anyone advise please ?
    Scott

    Scott,
Not sure if you read the release notes, but here they are are for V4.06 and V5.0:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/vpn_client/cisco_vpn_client/vpn_client46/release/notes/46clnt.html#wp1207576
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/secursw/ps2308/prod_release_note09186a0080884df5.html#wp1207576
I'm not seeing anything that prohibits XP Home, but there are several caveats that may have direct bearing on why your user's can't get it installed (administrative access to internal firewalls).

  • VPN Client and Windows Folder Synchronisation

We are currently having problems with Windows XP Laptops which have folders Synchronised to Servers.
When they are working remotely, they use the VPN client to connect to the network. Unfortunately, the VPN Client Adapter does not appear in the "Network Connection" drop down menu within the Synchronisation Setup screens. This means that the synchronisation takes place once the Physical Adapter (LAN or Wireless) comes active and an error message appears everytime.
Has anyone come across this and found a fix for it ? There must be a away of getting the VPN LAN Adapter into the Synchronisation Network Connection list.

The only supported IPSec client for Windows 7 is 5.0.6. I would recommend uninstalling the client version that you have, upgrade the DNE package from Citrix, and then install the latest IPSec client.

  • VPN Client and Windows 7 - Window won't show

Bizarre issue I've now experienced on two separate PC's with VPN Client 5.00.07.0410 on 32-bit Windows 7:
Out of the blue, when the user double-clicks the Cisco VPN Client icon, the lock shows up in the system tray, and the application shows in the taskbar. You may get a glimpse of the window when you double-click the taskbar icon, or single click it and choose the application from the list. However, you are not able to actually get the window to be visible. This of course makes it impossible for the user to click the "connect" button.
I've discovered that when the icon is in the taskbar, and you hit "Enter" on the keyboard, it will connect. However I wouldn't expect a user to be able to figure this out, and so it was quite frustrating for them when this happened.
I've noticed there is a new version of the software for 64-bit users, but not for 32.
Anybody else experience this? Find a solution?
I tried uninstalling/re-installing and it made no difference.
    -Chris

Try this so you don't have to do it each time... it worked for XP Pro 32-bit (Dell E6410). Haven't yet encountered on W7 Pro:
Bring up Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt_Delete). Open the Applications tab. Highlight VPN Client, right-click and select Maximize. (Sometimes if the system dies (power-loss) when connected to VPN the registry remembers the minimized setting and will not un-minimize it except with this process (and maybe one yet to be determined).)
I'm currently working (20140617) on a similar issue for W7 Pro for the User Authentication window where the RSA passcode needs to be entered. Alt-Tab works but I'm trying to make it permanent. (One problem is the user has a difficult time following instructions.)

  • VPN Client and Windows 7 Issue

Using VPN Client, V5.0.07.0440 a Dell Vostro W7 Professional system, 64 bit. The client installs and runs the same way it has on at least 20 other systems without issue. When I try to remote into the network, I get a "can not connect" error attempting to connect to any system or server. I placed a known good laptop using XP on the same internet line, it connects without issue. The remote access (mstsc.exe) verson is 6.1.7601.17514 there is no Admin switch in the shortcut. This is the first time anything like this has happened, numerous W7 32 and 64 bit and XP systems. Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
It's like the VPN connects to the network, but the remote access is not using the same connection. I get the same results whether the VPN Client is loaded or not.
Sure could use some help on this.

The system that I am trying to connect with is a Dell Vostro desktop, W7 64bit Pro. I am attempting to connect to a Windows 2003 domain thru a PIX 501 firewall. The desktop system uses an onboard Ethernet adaptor connected to the Internet thru Charter. I do not have ready access to the computer as it's my employers home system. The frustrating thing is, I have installed and set this up on at least 30 other systems and all of them worked flawlessly. Of course, this one would be the problem as it belongs to my boss.
Thanks for responding, I plan on picking up the unit so I can devote some real time to fixing it.
    Thanks again

  • How to enable traffic between VPN clients in Windows Server 2012 R2?

    Hello,
I installed Remote Access role with VPN.
    IPv4 Router is enabled: http://snag.gy/UAMY2.jpg
VPN clients should use static ip pool: http://snag.gy/REjkB.jpg
One VPN user is configured to have static ip: http://snag.gy/TWwq0.jpg
VPN server uses Windows Authentication and Windows Accounting.
With this setup, VPN clients can connect to server, get ip addresses and can see server via server's vpn ip. Server can connect to VPN clients too (Using client's vpn ips). But VPN clients can't communicate with each other.
For example, VPN server has ip 192.168.99.5
    VPN Client 1 - 192.168.99.6
    VPN Client 2 - 192.168.99.7
I am able to ping 192.168.99.5 from both clients, and able to ping 192.168.99.6 and 192.168.99.7 from server via remote desktop. But I am not able to ping 192.168.99.7 from client 1 and 192.168.99.6 from client 2.
If I trace route from 192.168.99.6 to 192.168.99.7 - I can see that packets goes to server (192.168.99.5) and next hop - request timeout.
What else should I configure to allow network traffic between VPN clients?

    Hi,
To better analyze this issue, would you please post the routing tables on the two VPN clients? You can run "route print" at the command prompt to get the routing table.
    Best regards,
    Susie

  • Cisco VPN Client after Windows Vista Update (KB941229)

I had the Cisco VPN client 5 installed on my laptop and configured by the IT department at work. It was working fine all day until I restarted and KB941229 was automatically installed. When it turned back on the Cisco VPN service (CVPND) would attempt to run then stop. If I started it manually it would run for about a minute then stop again. Without the service running the VPN client won't open, let alone let me connect.
I know this vista update is fairly recent so I'm not sure there will be a fix but maybe somebody can think of a workaround or some way to fix this situation.
    Things I've tried:
    1) Uninstalling the windows update
    2) restarting
    3) restarting (in denial that this was happening)
    4) configuring a vista VPN connection to attempt to connect to the company VPN (this failed too)
Uninstalling the update caused me to be unable to ping for some reason. This meant the VPN client would run but be unable to connect to the server and yet I was entirely able to access the internet locally. I reinstalled the update assuming maybe the installation went badly but that caused the same problem with the VPN service stopping itself (or being stopped) after a minute.

    Hello
    my issue has been resolved.
there is a service called Base Filtering Services running in background for Vista and has to disabled to make IP Sec VPN Client working.
after doing so it works smoothly.

It happens in the Screen 'Updating system'
Oh yeah, I just install it from the C:\ Drive and not from a network path. Tried extracting the exe manualy also, nothing seems to help..

I'm seeing the same error on our domain connected machines (Windows XP - German).
Adding the Users and INTERACTIVE accounts fixes the install issue, but the install process takes a few minutes to complete and the there are a lot of queries to the DCs.
    Is there a fix?
