Error when installing RAC on windows 2000
Hi,
I'm installing Oracle 9i(9.0.1.1.1 EE) RAC for the first time. It has been an interesting experience,
with many bumps in the road. But now I'm stuck.
I have installed the 9i EE software, but when I try to create a database ( using DBCA), I get an error :
PRKR-1005 : adding of cluster database cludb configuration failed, PRKC-1018 : Error getting coordinator node
The error occurs after I have finished configurating, and the actual database creation starts.
I did get another error earlier : PRKR-1028 "raw device \\.\srvcfg is invalid, [HINT: initialize raw device by using
'srvconfig' tool]
That error disappeared after running srvconfig -init.
I have restarted the Oracle GSD services on both machines, but I still get the same error.
The OS is Windows 2000 Advanced Server, running on a Compaq Cluster.

Problem Installing 817 on Windows 2000 with RAID Array
I am having a problem installing Oracle under windows 2000 which has 2 x 60 GB discs configured in RAID array. When I run the setup program the cursor goes busy for about 10 seconds and returns back to normal and nothing happens !. No errors nothing.
However when I run the Object Manager in the ods_preinstall directory it starts but in the log file I get the following error message:-
02/14/02 09:46:18 : (892) : Error in IO Control call for disk PhysicalDrive0 (Error 21)
02/14/02 09:46:19 : (892) : The count = 28
02/14/02 09:46:19 : (892) : The signature is 0x443aa035
02/14/02 09:46:19 : (892) : Error: First Partition of the disk must be an extended disk
02/14/02 09:46:19 : (892) : Found the partition: 7
Any idea whats happening....? Has anyone seen this before. Do I need to do something special in teh RAID..?
TIA
MartinHere are some possible solutions:
1. The installation notes state that you must be logged on as Administrator to be able to install 9i. Are you logged on as the Administrator? Being logged on as user01 with Administrator priviledges isn't the same as Administrator.
2. Is the disk full? If I remember my installation correctly, I needed 3 times the size of the files. The documentation will tell you how much space you need.
Hope these two questions help

RAC on windows 2000 with domain controller
Guys,
I need advise on the following implementation.
We have 2 IBM Xseries 365 Servers , 1 FastT600 Storage Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Oracle 9i, Oracle RAC
We have plan of integrating 2 servers in Windows 2000 Cluster, one server would act as Domain Controller and second will act as Additional Domain Controller in the MS Cluster. We would be installing Oracle 9i Enterprise s/w on each one of these server's internal disks and datafiles on shared storage ( FastT600 ).. We would need to install Oracle RAC as well. As per Oracle recommandation, the cluster nodes shouldn't act as Domain controller. We didn't find any logical and techinical answer for this recommandation. Can anyone guide me as why is it so? and any issue may arise if we don't have separate doamin controller?
Is it really required to have separate Domain controller ?
Early replies would be appretiated..
Thanks & Regards,
SamHello hanspjacobsen,
1. According to the subjects System Requrements - Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controllers do support
Windows 8.1/2012 R2 admx deployment with some limitations regarding down-level server version of course. So yes - you can download and use it. Doubtfully the GPO presence in AD could
harm Exchange in any way.
2. With the course of updates for Exchange 2010 and Windows Server - I'm pretty sure we can expect Exchange 2010 supporting W2012 R2 DCs with close upcoming updates. So the full interoperability for those two is just a matter of little time.

How to Install OPS on Windows 2000 Advance Server??
I just try to install Oracle Parallel Server on Win 2000 Advance
server, but it seems that the installation is not success.
I am using 2 Compaq Proliant ML530 PIII/Xeon as a hardware and
Windows 2000 Advance Server for Operating System. From the
vendor's tools checking, it stated thad clustering service is
already installed (ok!)
When I install Oracle Parallel Server, the default drive for
installation is already drive V (share disk), and Oracle
Parallel Server has been selected on the available product
components page, but I don't see node selection for install.
(According to Installing and Creating an Oracle Parallel Server
Database manual, I must select the nodes to which I want to
install the software from cluster node selection screen page)
Also when creating database (using Oracle database configuration
assistant), it does not displays database creation selection
(OPS or single instance configuration)as the first page, but
directly go to the second page (create/delete database).
Is the problem caused by wrong step of oracle Installation or OS
itself (ie: Cluster Manager)??
Anybody have experience on it can help me?
ps:I am using Oracle 8.1.7
Regards,
SuryantoPlease check whether you have installed the OSD layer (
Operating system dependent layer). Such layer can be obtained
from your hardware vendor ( eg compaq). You should have such
layer in your system before installing the OPS.
If you have such layer installed, you can see other nodes during
installation of Oracle and OPS.
Hope this help! -
Oracle 8i EE Install problems on Windows 2000
Problem 1 - LENGTH OF INSTALL FILES PATH.
The Oracle Universal Installer was coming up fine, but the "Next" button wouldn't do anything. After much trial and error, I discovered this to be related to the path of the install files. Rather than burning to CD, I had copied the install files into a directory C:\ORA816 - when I renamed this directory to just C:\O, the "Next" magically began working. This problem only occurs on Windows 2000, not NT4.
Problem 2 - CREDENTIAL RETRIEVAL FAILED.
I got this error (ORA-12638) from the Database Configuration Assistant. This just happened, so I haven't had a chance to figure it out. Has anyone encountered/fixed this problem in Windows 2000? I am running the install as Administrator.
nullRe: Problem 2. Just found out that this problem is resolved by removing the line SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES from
%ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\sqlnet.ora

Trouble installing XP on Windows 2000 Thinkpad T43
I am trying to load XP pro, on a Thinkpad T43(2668). It was previously on this system. Currently the system has windows 2000 pro. When installing XP disc, the disc will not load. The bios is set load CD priority. I tried formatting, and deleting, and recreating the active partition, in Windows 2000 recovery. Also tried installing Xp pro disk, on clean system (no OS). Nothing works, CD, installation stalls and we get error messages
Error messages: i386/vga.oem, i386/ntkrnlmp.exe , blank screen, inf file txtesetup.sif corrupt or missing, are all errors I have gotten. Different error messages with each attempt at installation. Also have gotten “At: press any key to boot from CD”, no response.
I ran a RAM test on this system for 12 hours, and there are no errors.
This XP pro CD loads in other PC’s, no problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks
BAYou're looking at a bad media drive, or a bad disk itself, regardless of the fact that it loads on other units it may still be partially defective.
Try borrowing another media drive or using an USB CD-ROM to load the OS.
Good luck.

George

Installing Oracle11g on windows 2000
Hello
I am a beginner and I have a doubt regarding installing Oracle11g .
I have a server with OS windows 2000/2003.
I want to install Oracle11g on it and create all my database from 8i to 11g say using export/import dump files.
Next I want to connect my application from client PC with OS vista/XP which is developed in forms 6.0.
This set up is in client/server mode (Intranet only) and there is no connectivity through internet.
Please suggest how to go about and is it possible to work with Forms6.0 and oracle11g.
Thanksis it possible to work with Forms6.0 and oracle11g.I'm afraid you're out of luck... that combination is not supported, as you can see in Oracle Certification Matrices
The last version supported with Forms6.0 is 10g, so you should
- upgrade your forms to 10g
or
- use 10g DB. -
Installing Eclipse on Windows 2000
Hey, I'm trying to get started with Java development on Windows 2000 Professional. I've got Eclipse installed but I'm not sure if it's working right. I tried to build the latest release of JUnit as it says in the Eclipse help file, but I get 19 warnings.
Is this normal? Or is it an indication that JUnit did not compile correctly (and therefore that there may be something wrong with my Eclipse installation?)
Thanks in advance.Try asking the people from JUnit:

Installing Oracle8i on WIndows 2000
I am currently trying to install Oracle8i (8.1.7) on windows 2000 professional. Everytime I run setup the egg timer comes on and nothing happens. Anyone have any ideas?
Success at last! I'm installing Oracle 8.1.7 on a p4 running win 2k as I type this. I downloaded the java sdk 1.3.0 from java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/install-windows.html and installed it. Then I located the symcjit.dll in my Oralce installation folders (on my hard drive) and renamed it. Then ran the installer and voila! it worked.

The version of thes file should be 3.10.107 or higher. Dell suggested I install the java runtime environment v 1.3.0 and this may correct thr problem. I did so but no luck. I did a search for this file and the only one I found was in the Oracle installation folder.
