Installing Roxio Toast 8 Titanium on Leopard

Hi,
I am trying to install Toast 8 Titanium on Leopard but I keep getting the following error:
"The alias "CD Spin Doctor" cannot be copied to the destination, perhaps the destination does not support this type of alias"
and the install fails.
I wondered if anyone else had the same issue or knows what the problem might be.
Thanks
Gavin

  • How to install Roxio Toast 11 Titanium in OSX 10.7

    Hi!
I just purchased Roxio Toast 11 Titanium and I would like to know the best way to install this on my Mac. My graphics card is an ATI Radeon HD 4670, which is not one of the cards supported to use Toast's VideoBoost, only NVIDIA cards are supported. Do I need to use VideoBoost and if so should I download a NVIDIA card, and which one? The Roxio site said to download the first card on the list, which is a CUDA 5.0.37 driver for Mac. The Roxio site also says that before installing this driver that I need either Quadro FX for Mac or GeForce for Mac. I'm confused, please help!!! Thank you!!!

Just pop the CD/DVD into your optical drive and run the installer and install Toast.
The Video Boost is probably a system plugin. It , probably, won't install aa you do not have a NVIDIA GPU  installed in your iMac. It's a ATI GPU.
So, so not worry about this feature. You can't utilize it, anyway.

  • About  Roxio Toast 8 Titanium software

In case I can't use the Yamaha CD burner with OS X (an issue I posted earlier) I'm looking to perhaps replace it. I still have to check some solutions but
I read about the Roxio Toast® 8 Titanium software
How does this work ? Do I install it on the Mac OS X and then the tray on my computer that for the moment can only read (CD and DVD-ROM) will be able to write too ?
Or do I still need a CD burner hardware ? And if so, can I use the Yamaha CRW2100FXZ which use Adaptec Toast version 4.1.2. ?
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Hi,
Speed is absolutely of no importance to me.
I only use it to back up data (files, folders, photos, etc). If it takes 20 minutes, I do something else, cleanup my desk, take a snack, whatever.
If you're only going to burn cd's, you'll need about 1.4Gb of space. The application itself is less than 200M.
I checked my MacIntosh HD and it has a
    capacity of 9.54 GB.
    Used: 8.7 GB
    Available: 860 MB
I cannot change the 8.7 GB ; they are all technical folders (System Folder, Applications, etc.) Only 233MB are personals
So I cannot install much here: You say I need 1.4 GB for this software alone. If I cannot install this on the external drive, then I'm in trouble because I need to install a film scanner too and I cannot install it elsewhere than on the HD.
Perhaps I will post another topic since we are moving away from Toast (the topic is "about Roxio Toast® 8 Titanium software") and I want to speak in general about what can and cannot be installed on a external drive.
Can't say for sure if using the external drive will help. Toast 4 / 5 used to allow you to specify the scratch disk to use, but Toast 7 doesn't. Perhaps I should read the manual.
Well reading is good. You don't have to read the whole manual only the installation page. If you could, that will be great. I wrote to Roxio a few days ago with a question unrelated to this and still no answer.

  • Error Type 2 Installing Roxio Toast

I was able to find an old copy of Toast Titanium 5.2. It installed just fine on one of my Quicksilver G4s and burned CDs like a champ. The Graphite G4 I have though, it would not install Toast at all, I got an error message after clicking "I agree" on the agreement. I also tried installing another program and got the same error, so I know its not an issue with Toast. These are the errors that came up, at first it was Error Type 2, then switched to 1:
"The Application "Toast Titanium 5.2 Installer” has unexpectedly quit because an error of type 1 has occurred. You should save your work in other open applications and restart the computer."
"The Application "Toast Titanium 5.2 Installer” has unexpectedly quit because an error of type 2 has occurred. You should save your work in other open applications and restart the computer."
Both computers are on OS9.2.2, the Quicksilver has 768mb of ram and the Graphite has 448mb of ram I believe. I tried holding 'Shift' while booting to disable extensions, but got a different error, assuming it needed an extension. I went to the extension manager and set it to base extensions only, but had the same error. I only assume the installer package is corrupt or something. Any tips would be greatly appriciated!

And Im back ... I GOT TOAST INSTALLED! lol. Started disabling extensions, disabled the 9.2 extension set, restarted, got a 'interfacelib--getcomponentresource' error when opening the installer. Enabled the Quicktime extension set, restarted, and it worked! Was able to install and use Toast.
But one last problem that I discussed before which on a clean restart, I cant click on anything untill I force quit finder and let it reload. Ive narrowed the problem down to the Open Transport extension. With the extension off, everything is fine, with it on, same problem as described above. I know Open Transport has to do with networking and this computer is normally on a network with a server(currently not on that network). Is that extension completely neccissary? Thanks for all the help thus far!

  • Using Roxio Toast Titanium with 550 PowerBook

    Hello eveyone.
I recently installed Tiger and am now on V. 10.4.7
My PB has no cd or dvd burner so about 3 years ago, I bought a burner and installed Roxio Toast Titanium 5.1.2. All went OK - until Tiger.
After the Tiger install, I can't get my Toast to open. This means I can use my burner - an ez quest connected with firewire - to burn a cd from iTunes but I cannot burn any of my iPhoto pics.
Anyone had a similar problem? How do I fix it?? Should I just buy and install the latest from Roxio - their Media 8 I think?
    Any help would be great!

Ouch! Well, at least you know you should have.
Is reparing perms a big thing?
It's a big thing in that it needs to get done, say like changing your oil. But like the oil, it's not a big thing to do.
Can I go wrong and make things worse?
    I can't even imagine how. It's a normal, supposed-to-be performed thing.
Open Applications:Utilities:Disk Utility, select your HD on the left side, click on Repair Permissions at the bottom, wait a few minutes until it's finished, quit DU, and you're all set.
Also, I'd guess that you don't run Background Maintenance; I'd strongly recommend it (I like MacJanitor because it's so easy and it's freeware).
Not to worry, this all normal/routine stuff.

  • If there ever was a NEW update for iMovie, will iMovie have the ability to burn projects onto a Blu-Ray disc so that customers don't have to pay for additional software like Final Cut Pro or Roxio Toast Titanium/Pro?

It would be helpful for those who are familier with iMovie to use Blu-Ray discs for burning and playing back their iMovie projects in HD. However, iMovie '11 doesn't have that special feature yet. I hear that 'Final Cut Pro X,' 'Roxio Toast 11 Titanium' and 'Roxio Toast 11 Pro' can copy projects like iMovie onto Blu-Ray, but it would take long periods of time to do that. Professional software, like FCP X and Toast, can be pricey.
I'm hoping that iMovie '11 will burn projects onto Blu-Ray, but will that ever come true?

Will iBlu-Ray be an upgrade? OR and update of iDVD?
If it's an upgrade, then that means you'd still pay for it from the Mac App Store. I wish it would only cost between $20-40.
If it's a free update of iDVD, but with the new name, that would be better than to go out and pay for things!!!
However, external Blu-ray recorders would still be required if you were going to burn an iMovie project onto a blu-ray disc.
Is there a way to put in a request for 'iBlu-Ray?'

  • Importing AVCHD  video archived onto DVDs using Roxio Toast ?

Can Final Cut Express import AVCHD video that has been archived onto DVDs using Roxio Toast 10 Titanium? The video is originally shot on an AVCHD camcorder (Canon HF-10), then burned into DVDs preserving the AVCHD files using Roxio Toast Titanium. I'm just wondering if you can simply insert the DVDs and import the AVCHD files into FCE. Has anyone tried it? Does it work?

The only thing that matters is that the entire folder structure is preserved from the chip. If the software is picking out the video files then it will not work. The whole folder structure which is a data wrapper for the media is needed by FCE. It doesn't matter if you use Toast or Disk Utility to make the data disc.

  • Roxio Toast 6 - Too old?

Hi - I'm still using Roxio Toast 6 Titanium on my 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook. I made a DVD via Final Cut Studio, and when I try to duplicate the DVD via Toast, I keep getting the following error message:
{DISC TITLE} could not be unmounted.
All open files on this volume must be closed first.
But the same copy of Toast 6 works fine on my old G4, and seems to work fine otherwise.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

You only need to create the disk image file once, then you can burn many DVDs from it. You can set it to eject each DVD when finished. It;'s only a couple of clicks to start the next one.

  • Roxio Toast Titanium 6.1 cannot see superdrive in MacBook Pro 17"

    Hi Folks,
My superdrive worked perfectly fine with Toast Titanium 6.1, burning Cd's,Dvd's,dual layer Dvd's without any issues.
But just recently Toast has informed me that it cannot find a recorder.
here is the details of my superdrive as listed by System Profiler:
    MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-85J:
    Firmware Revision: FAV1
    Interconnect: ATAPI
    Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
    Cache: 2048 KB
    Reads DVD: Yes
    CD-Write: -R, -RW
    DVD-Write: -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
    Burn Underrun Protection CD: Yes
    Burn Underrun Protection DVD: Yes
    Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
    Media:
    Media Type: CD-ROM
    Blank: No
    Erasable: No
    Overwritable: No
    Appendable: No
I am currently trying to get Roxio suipport to resolve the issue but no luck so far.
I have uninstalled & re-installed the Toast software, repaired permissions, the works but stiil Toast cannot see the Superdrive.
The only thing I can think of is I installed a recent firmware update for the MacBook Pro & maybe that had something to do with it.
I also don't think that updating to the latest version of Toast 8 will resolve the issue either.
Remember that the Superdrive was working just fine with Toast.
I have searced the froums & apple support documents to no avail.
The Toast site is not much help either.
Anybody have any ideas or a similar problem.
    Thanks
    fargione

    My problem has been solved!
I have carried out a complete re-install of the Os & I am right back up to OS 10.4.10.
Al the available updates have been installed & Toast 6.1.1 works just fine & sees the superdrive without any problems.
I think I have worked out what caused Toast to break.
Sometime back I was advised to run an app called Monolingual.
It is a utility that removes unecessary language resources from the os & reclaims disk space.
My advice is to live with the extra language's & avoid Monolingual.
Once again thank you all for your help.

  • Toast 8 Titanium by Roxio

I recently bought Logic Pro 7.2
I heard that this has CD burning program.....
Do I need to also buy Toast 8 Titanium by Roxio ???

I'll bet a fair number of people still don't know about Waveburner. It's a separate app that gets installed with Logic Pro. I think it's in the applications folder (I put it in my dock).
The new Toast Eight (ha!) now includes it's companion program, Jam and can use AU plugins, as well as dither 24-bit files to 16-bits. It's great for those who don't already have Waveburner, or if you want to span data backup DVDs or other less mundane chores. I believe they lowered the price with this version as well. It used to cost $175 for Toast + Jam, now it's only around $80 new.
I still use it for burning rough mixes because it's quick and simple - but I've had it since version 5 and am used to it.

  • Problems with Roxio Toast 7 after installing Safari 4.0.4

After completing the installation, several programs no longer work. Among them, VLC was corrected by upgrading to the latest version, but my Roxio Toast 7 will no longer work at all. According to the crash log provided by Toast, Safari was the culprit. I have tried finding a previous version of Safari to go back to with no luck. I am at my wits end. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the advice. First, I tried removing MagicMenuEnabler from Library, restarted and reinstalled but Roxio still was a no go. Then I removed the other two files from the same InputManagers file (CTLoader and LCC Scroll Enhancer Loader), restarted and reinstalled but still no luck. This second attempt seemed to cause more crashes in other software. I have included the two crash logs below.

  • Using Roxio Toast / Toast 6 Titanium??

How can I break .avi files into parts using Roxio Toast 6.0 so I can burn it onto a DVD and the file will fit?
I've tried searching in 'manuals' but it had no results.

The Roxio web site seems a bit sketchy on tutorials, but that's the kind of information
that'd be handy. Some Toast versions where more troublesome in file conversions than
others. I have Toast but don't use it, so I'm of no direct helpful experience in this regard.
I did a search and found references to tutorials online, but nothing at the Roxio site; so
if there is a user compiled tutorial out there, that'd be a good thing to know. A Google
result of 'Roxio Toast tutorial' has some near misses. Try http://www.google.com/mac

  • Can't run Toast 7 Titanium's CD Spin Doctor - please help!

    Hello,
I don't know if I'm posting in the appropriate forum or not, but here goes...
I got a LaCie d2 Dual DVD+/_ RW Drive for Christmas, along with a brand new copy of Roxio's Toast 7 Titanium. I recently installed all the driver software and everything seemed to go well.
However, when I attempted to run the CD Spin Doctor (version 3.0.1), I have run into problems that I cannot explain. I can import audio to my G4 (using my Xitel MD Port I/O USB interface) just fine, but when it comes to editing the waveform, I CAN'T! What I mean is that I can select areas of the waveform, but cannot cut, paste, delete, etc. - anything! Another matter is that at times when I am playing back the file, Spin Doctor will act as it is starting to hang and simply crash.
When I have been using Spin Doctor, I have kept the number of other running applications to a minimum. I have run Disk Warrior and TechTool Pro v 4 to organize my directories and optomize my HD. I'm running OS 10.3.9 which from what I understand is within the requirements for using Spin Doctor. What Gives?
Should I trash the preference file (if there is one) and try again, or uninstall and reinstall the app? Is there something more serious going on? I'd rather not have to upgrade to Tiger at this time or buy another audio editing file, yet checking Roxio's support section offered little in the way of shedding light on the situation. I also downloaded Toast 7.0.2 and tried the updated version of Spin Doctor provided with the toast Update without success.
If anyone else has experienced problems running Spin Doctor, and has found a solution, please let me know. TIA!
    500 MHz G4 (AGP Graphics), MATSHITA PD-2 LF-D110 CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/RAM, (3) 18 GB SCSI Hard Drives, LaCie d2 Dual DVD +/_ RW Drive, Iomega Zip 250 FW   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   1.25 GB SDRAM, (3) 18 GB

I've had similiar crash problems with Toast/Spin Doctor. Installed Toast 7.0 and upgraded to 7.0.2. Spin Doctor crashes all the time, whether trying to simply playback track (LP source input via INport) or trying to add a track or do just about anything else. I have spent 55 minutes on hold with Roxio (no answer), have sent crash reports to Apple (from whose store I bought this application) and have have had no replies. Since it appears Roxio isn't very good on the rebate side, either, guess they don't care about customers. I'm hoping to return this product to the Apple Store where I bought it. This simple application should be a no-brainer to use but I'm tired of doing QA for substandard tech products. GarageBand doesn't quite do what I need to do so I guess I'll have to move up to Final Cut products. Wish Apple would stop selling products whose makers don't provide decent quality, reliability, and support.
    Anybody solve the crash bug?

  • Problems Updating Toast 9 Titanium

I'm trying to update Toast 9 Titanium. I've downloaded the update (not upgrade but update for version 9.0.7). I've downloaded the zip file, uncompressed it and opened the DMG file - ToastTi_907_260Updater.dmg).
When I drag the update to the Applications Alias in the dmg and tell it to replace the files I'm getting, "Copy - The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items."
I am logged in with my admin account which I used to originally install Toast 9 Titanium. I verified that I'm the owner of the folder in the Applications folder and I'm the owner of all six parts of the app. I'm still getting this error. How do I fix this?
Note: It's a legal copy that I purchased directly from them and it is working except that I can't update it.
The computer is an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz White 24" iMac with 4 gb of RAM. I'm running 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard in 64 bit mode - I held down 64 when booting).

When I drag the update to the Applications Alias in the dmg and tell it to replace the files I'm getting, "Copy - The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items.". I verified that I'm the owner of the folder in the Applications folder..."
The alias on the img and the app folder are not the same thing - checking permissions on the app folder is only investigating half the guest list.
Make sure that nothing related to TT9 is running, then drag the new items from the image onto the TT icon inside the app folder.
