Installing same versions of Frame maker on one system (7.0 and 7.2)

I am using Frame maker 7.2 for creating user manuals. The tool we are using for generating OLH is
Web Works Publisher for frame maker 7.0. Currently I have installed FM 7.0 and WWP on virtual machine
while I work directly on FM 7.2 version and only use 7.0 from Virtual machine while creating OLH
This is a very complicated process as I have to copy all my files into the virtual machine folder
and then create Help files.
Can we install both 7.0 and 7.2 version on the same system (not virtual)
so that when I document the manuals on 7.2 fm, I can close the files and open the same file in 7.0
versions to generate help files.

Yes, you can have multiple versions installed on the same machine. I have one that's running 7.2, 8, and 9... no problems.
As far as 7 and 7.2 go, if it was me, I'd just go with 7.2. There isn't a difference in the file format, so files can be opened with either version. And 7.2 is more stable, has fewer bugs, and better import/export filters.

    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store

  • Can't re-install same version of Safari

Safari wasn't launching at all on Tiger 10.4.11, worked fine until now. Restarted computer, trashed the Safari prefs, etc. No go. I Trashed the app with AppDelete. Downloaded the same version 4.1 for tiger and dialogue box said that a newer version is already installed on this volume. Newer version ? I trashed it and it is the same version I want to install. Now I had to resort to Firefox until this is fixed. What files of the trashed version are still lurking in there ?

    HI,
If you are running either v10.4 v10.5, follow the instructions here to do an Archive and Install.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1545
Make sure there is enough free disk space. Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure there is always a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*

  • Firefox Nightly Kept insisting on installing same version

I kept getting a message telling me I need to update Nightly, which was strange as I had the latest version which was was working fine. Upon allowing the system to do the update, I lost the ability to use links from Thunderbird to Nightly. Again I received a message saying that my version of Nightly needed up dating, which I did, now I don't have Night as every time my system boots up, it tells me to reboot the system to allow Nightly to finish installing which it doesn't...!!! and now Firefox for some reason will not link with Thunderbird so I am continually copying the link from Thunderbird then having to paste it into Firefox... However every now and again I get the message to reboot my system for Nightly, which after a dozen or so resets is really straining the friendship. I VERY MUCH DISLIKE IE and have always been a great supporter and fan of Mozilla, however guys something has do be done or I you'll loose a bloke who bragg's to EVERY one about how good your software is and and they listen to me, what am I going to do when they start having trouble...???

It is not installing the same version but rather a new update. The Nightly channel gets checkin(s) pretty much every day so therefore it gets a update each day and sometimes even a respin.
Type '''about:''' in the Location (address) bar and you should see a build date in useragent like for example Gecko/'''20121229''' Firefox/20.0 which is Dec 29, 2012.
If you really want to continue to be a Tester on the unstable Nightly channel then perhaps you my want to follow the daily "The Official ... builds" threads in [http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=23 Firefox Builds section at mozillaZine forums].

  • CC installed 3 versions of Photoshop. Which one should I use? How do I get bridge to point to this version?

I use Photoshop CC (64). I have all my action scripts and hot keys set up there and everything works fine. Until I try to use bridge to run a batch in Photoshop.
When I try to run a batch operation from bridge in Photoshop using an action I made in version Photoshop CC (64). Nothing happens. Photoshop doesn't open the batch screen and bridge acts like I never tried to run the batch (keep in mind, this happens while I have bridge and Photoshop CC (64) open.
If I shut down Photoshop and then try to run the Batch operation. Bridge opens a version of Photoshop I don't use, therefore it doesn't have any of my actions scripts that I want to use. (I'm guessing it is opening CC 2014. Is this better than CC (64)? Should I just go ahead and use it instead?
Keep in mind I'm using Bridge labeled Bridge CC (64bit) so in my mind it really should be looking at Photoshop CC (64).
I tried using bridge preferences to pick CC (64) for the file type but this didn't work/help.
I don't mind using CC 2014 but I think Bridge should have an option to pick which version of Photoshop to run the batch in. This saves me time having to save out my actions and load them up in another version of Photoshop.
Anyway. Please let me know which version is the latest/best. I have Photoshop CC, Photoshop CC (64) and Photoshop CC 2014. It would be nice to be able to remove the ones I don't really need.

There are three Cloud versions of Photoshop: CS6 13.1.2,  CC 14.2.1.570 and CC 2014 15.2.1. There are two two version of Adobe Bridge:  CS6 5.0.2.4 and CC 6.1.0.116.  Bridge CS6 works with Photoshop CS6,  Bridge CC works with Photoshop CC 2014.  There is no Bridge for Photoshop  CC except Bridge CC with out the Bridge CC updates. The Photoshop Version are not fully compatible with prior versions of Photoshop. Subscription CS6  removed some Plug-ins support that in perpetual CS6 so some Plugin that work in perpetual CS6 don't work in Cloud CS6, Photoshop CC is quite compatible with Subscription CS6,  CC 2014 had Flash Panel support removed so old extensions like mini bridge don't work in CC 2014.  There are bugs in CC that are not in CS6 and there are bugs in CC 2014 that are not in CC.

  • Help with installing a internal HD to make a classic system folder.

Ok so I've been having one **** of a time trying to make this classic system folder (earlier thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2105407&tstart=0 ).
I have the original OS 9.0.4 disk, I didn't save my system folder when I went OS 10.4 so now I'm trying to make one because I can't make one with just 9.0.4 I need to make a 9.2.2 by just updating using IE 5. Should I install the internal HD as a Master Single, Master w/Slave presets, or just Slave then restart on that HD with my OS 9.0.4 disk in holding down c? Then move a copy of the system folder over to the other HD when I get it upgraded?
Hold on I got another idea just replace the HD that's in it now install 9.0.4 upgrade it then move it to my external if it can read it then put the old HD back in and the new one (which should I put that one back in as slave?) and tada.
Which way do you think will be the easiest and less painful way? Also do I make the second internal HD a Slave and the start up one as a Master w/Slave presets?

Yep I just got done doin' just what you said and now I'm updating classic as we speak. Of all the questions I've had with trying to get classic to work I wish I would of thought of this first. Thanx for the simplified way of saying it. I'll post this in my other thread too, too bad I can't say I solved it myself, lmao.

  • I want to install 2 completely separate instances of firefox, one for the family and one for me.

i have tried to install each on different hard drives with different names but no matter what all bookmarks are linked between the two. i do not open both at the same time and even installed one without it in the programs on the start menu. nothing stops them from acting as one instance. i do not want to use any kind of profile, just a shortcut on the desktop for one and a folder for the other. how do i work around this problem. any help would be greatly appreciated. i have previously used flock as my default (Firefox) but it is no longer supported or updated, and i can't quite deal with chrome. i know it is Firefox based but so minimal and uncustomizable that i just don't like it.

They act as one instance because they share the same profile which is located in %APPDATA%/roaming/mozilla.
You need to create a new profile and assign one to use it. Or you can use one installation and switch between profiles.

  • Which version is previous to the one released 5/1 and how do I revert?

I personally don't like this new version. It reminds me of Chrome and I hate Chrome. If I would be able to get a link to the version previous to this one, I'd be very thankful.

  • Why do I get an error message when installing latest version of Java in my Maverick system?

I have been trying t install Java 10.5 update 4 in my computer.  My compputer was upgraded from Mountain Lion to Mavericks.
Whenever I try the install Java, I get an error message saying Java for Mac 10.5 update 4 can't be installed on my disk, as that software can only be installed on Mac OS X Leopard.  I know Java 10.5 is the lattest version, so why can't I install in on my Mavericks system?

10.5 is too old for Mavericks.  You want the update from http://www.java.com/
Java 7v52 is the latest Java.

  • Plugins that i know are compatible in version 7.0.1 are reporting as not compatible when i try and install then in the same version running inside of VMware.

    Greetings ..
I am trying to run Firefox inside of VMware Workstation V8 in Widows 7 and Fusion V4 in Mac OS X 10.7.2.
I first tried to restore a working profile backup of Firefox made with FEBE in windows inside of VMWARE, when I load Firefox more that half of the plugins that were working in Windows and OS X natively, are reporting as not compatible with this (V7.0.1) Firefox and will not update to a working version, as in many cases they are the latest version anyway.
Also it is inconsistent, as i have tried several times to install Firefox and restore the profile and each time it is not all the same plugins that are disabled and reporting as incompatible.
I have also tried to do a clean install of Firefox and going to the website and installing the plugins directly, and while i have not tried all of the disabled plugins, I am unable to install plugins that i am currently using in the same version of Firefox outside of VMware that are working and or can be installed when I am not running Firefox inside of VMware.

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and delete the Firefox program folder to remove any leftover files.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 8.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Why can't I restore the same version IOS that's on my phone?

My iPhone 4s has apps on it that are not iOS 6x or even 7x compatible. iTunes/Apple won't let me restore the same version of iOS 5 that is currently on my phone that won't boot up. I have no options anymore except to pay.
    1. I can pay a developer to migrate the app I use for work to iOS7 and eventually run into the same problem later and pay AGAIN.
    2. I can ditch Apple (because there is no logical reason for this) and pay to go over to a Google phone and pay to migrate my app over to android but have the peace of mind that I won't be forced to do what android wants me to do anymore.
I bought an iPhone, an iPhone 3G, an iPhone 3GS and an iPhone 4S. I don't like using the latest and greatest because I only really care about doing what *I* want to do with *MY* phone. I don't like being told I can't have what I've been using for the past 2 years because Apple has changed a policy or something.
Is Apple doing ANYTHING for people like me or are we just screwed? Can anyone explain why Apple would disallow reinstallation of an iOS i've been using for years now?

if you're saying the default function of 'restore' has always been update to latest for your device you'd all be correct.. but that's not what i'm talking about. shift+click restore and you'll be prompted to browse for your firmware. since the dawn of the iphone (ask anyone that's actually used this feature) you have always been able to use this feature to install same-version ios as to what version is on the device. in the past it was more open, allowing you to update to any version above the one you're on, but that was taken away back in IOS3.. for example.
i'm sure for the average user who has no idea what version ios they use or want this would be completely transparent so i don't really blame you for not knowing or using this feature. for others like me this is a big deal. hopefully someone else who is on the same page as i am will chime in..
i think it's a little crazy to force your users to only use the specific version ios you want them to. have you tried ios7 on an ipad2? hello lag. there are more reasons than mine to want to be able to control what software runs on YOUR hardware.. think about it.

  • I have just downloaded Photoshop CC and found it installed two versions.

I am using Adobe Creative Cloud.  I have just downloaded Photoshop CC and found it installed two versions. I beleive the 32 bit version and the 64 bit version.  Is there a reason it has installed two versions?  Can I remove one version as I am running a Windows 8.1 64 bit machine?

I don't know if my issue is the same or not...
I  updated Photoshop CC last week, and  now have Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC 2014 in my applications folder. When I open a file created in Photoshop, it opens Photoshop. However, if I open another Photoshop file (by double-clicking on it), it opens up in a second Photoshop app (not the app that's already open)... so I have two Photoshops open at the same time. And both are CC versions.

  • When will Microsoft make an update for "Auto Save" and "Versions"?

Do you actually know something more about this missing function in office 2011?

There are a lot of people, myself included, that are hoping the answer to that question is "never". Hopefully, if they do, it will be something one can disable or tailor in preferences.
However, Office already has some of the basic elements of Versions and AutoSave right now. You can set documents to automatically save at any minute interval you want. And if you enable "Track Changes" within an Office document, you can essentially keep versions as you make changes. While "Track Changes" and Office's method of AutoSave is not identical to Apple's lion implementation, I like it better...mainly because you can enable the facets of the features at many levels, while with Lion's, you can't. Yeah, I know that there are workarounds, but they are time consuming to undo changes that you don't want, or accidentally make.
Imagine Lion's Autosave you can't turn off, on something like Photoshop. You open a file, apply a filter or two, and then decide you don't like the changes. Oops, Photoshop has saved the file.... then you have to go through the rigamarole of Versions to restore your original document.
