Installing SAPGui remotly

Hi,
I need to install something like 300 SAPGui remotly. I have seen that the SAPAdmin could match my requierment, but, I haven't domain controler.
My landscap is like this: Personnal computer under Windows 2000 pro or Xp pro. The file-servers runs under Samba sharing.
Do you know if it's possible to simulate domain controler or to run SAPAdmin without the check of domain controler ?

hello Dahveed, thanks for your reply, i solved it with the help of the migration assistant from another mac - now it works (but before as more info: for my new imac it was not possible to install apple remote desktop from appstore (the install-button not available, the same as installed already...) - and i don't know why...? - is it possible that the reason is the number of owned macs?)

It tells me that the ARD 3.3 dont work on lion but 3.5 do... How do i upgrade it? Do i need to buy a new verion again to use it on Lion ?

Hi here same thing.. i have Lion 10.7 installed.. every thing worked fine untill last night.. after the latest update.. ARD 3.5 inmediately 'hangs' on startup.
tried to set previous ARD from day before but no help..
then i tried to delete the whole program.. and re install it from my 500 dollar CD.. it won't install under 10.7.
whats next?! what is the solution?!
please help.. i work with it every day!!

Installing SAPgui 720 using Microsoft SCCM (sms)

Microsoft System Center Config Manager.
On workstations that we installed the SAPgui update using MS SCCM 2007 we are not able to uninstall sapgui.
SAP has recommended that we use SAPgui installation server to install the updates (instead of a tool such as SCCM).
Please let me know if you have used MS SCCM (config manager) 2007 to install SAPgui 720, and if so, are you able to uninstall the sapgui from the control panel sucesfully?

We have a problem on deployment with SCCM/SMS centralized mode about the spalogon.ini file location :
We are preparing a deployment package to deploy SAPGUI v7.20 centralized and silent mode by SCCM on XP AND Windows 7.
This deployment should be accompanied by the deployment of customized saplogon.ini to give the path to the production server.
Currently, we encounter on Windows 7, the problem of the location of the saplogon.ini in a directory that allows use by all users who connect to the station.
As we have packaged for the moment, the installation is done via a user type admin, saplogon.ini is placed in a file specific to the user (on windows 7, it is a directory type X : \ Users \ <UserName> \ AppData \ Roaming \ SAP \ Common).
So, the user need manually reconfigure its SAP GUI session to point to the production server.
What we want is that the installation package performs all the operations:
* Installation of SAP GUI (that it works)
* Deposit of saplogon.ini in a directory accessible by any user connecting to the position
* Configuration of SAP GUI for that point on the saplogon.ini.
As sayed before, this installation package must be used both in Windows XP on Windows 7.

is it possibile to patch directoly SAPgui DVD installation with last released patch so we can install in one way SAPgui 7.10 and last patch ?
is it possibile to install SAPgui with unattended installation and/or without desktop interaction ? ... or with our saplogon.ini settings ?

Hi,
SAP GUI has a Installation server option, You can install installation server, create a package with required components & patch it. This package can be then extracted to a SELF EXTRACTING EXE, which can be installed on PC with minimal quesitons asked while installation.
One problem with this is that, it does not check if Microsoft DOTNET component is installed or not, so you may end up having BI components not working.

Hi all,
I would like install SAPGUI Front End 6.40 to users (circa 250 PC) for all sites in our organisation. I would like use SMS2003 from Microsoft. I created admin installation on PC. I started SAPAdmin and I created packege with selected components and package defination file for SMS. I thinked that I can create separate package and this use for SMS distribution, but I don't know how create separate package outside SAPAdmin, because I don't want use "SAP Installation Server". Could anybody help me?

SMS from Microsoft is not supported. Why don't you want to use the SAP Installation Server?

Failing to install sapgui

Dear all
i have an HP compaq 6720s after finishing installing sapgui its reporting a number of errors which shows that its failing to register some dll and ocx files to the os which is windows Xp. i hve installed different sapgui but its the same error. if its an os i have formatted the machine and its still the same error.
when login its giving me dump error. what can i do please help i have no basis guys to assists me

Kicking off download and install Updates remotely

I know that in Windows 2012 you can launch sconfig and then run "Download and Install Updates" which I have found to be an extremely useful tool. Can I launch this (or a similiar) command remotely? We have a patching system, however
I am not 100% confident in it. In the event that it failes I would like to be able to manually run Windows Update remotely on multiple servers, possibly a list from a .csv file.
Can this be down through powershell?

I haven't tried the approach of launching sconfig remotely to try and install updates, but use the Microsoft.Update.Session COM object frequently for update installations. My initial thought is that you wouldn't be able to do so remotely because the process
launched remotely would be a non-interactive process and sconfig is most likely using the microsoft.update.session COM object for the installations. Again, not tested but based on my experience with this type of thing.
The Microsoft.Update.Session COM Object (more specifically, the CreateUpdateInstaller() method) doesn't allow for installing updates remotely and this is by design.

It requires an interactive process and has checks internally to test for this. Even with PowerShell remoting, this
will fail. I imagine that you could still download the updates remotely, but installing is a different beast all together. You will have to look at using a scheduled job or PSExec to create a remote service that can then run the code as in interactive process.
I have written a tool called
PoshPAIG that can do a lot to help install updates remotely (uses psexec) but doesn't yet support downloading and installing updates (someone posted updated code on my codeplex site that does allow for this) that may
be useful to you.
If a UI isn't your thing, I also have
PowerShell approach available that you could use as well.

HT1947 Can I install Apple remote on an iPod Touch with iOS 3.1?

I would like to install Aple Remote onto an older 8gb iPod touch (2007-09) which will only upgrade to iOS 3.1. The current Apple remote installer is not compatible with that iOS. Is there any way to install an earlier version of Apple Remote?

iTunes Radio needs iOS 7, so you can't use iTunes Radio if you have an older iOS version on the iPod touch

Hey guys, i'm trying to install chrome remotely through Powershell but nothing shows on the end users computer. I am using "Enter-PSSession -ComputerName XXXXXXXX" to connect to the remote machine and then I tried running "PS C:\> start-process
-FilePath "msiexec.exe" -ArgumentList "/q /i .\GoogleChromeStandaloneEnterprise.msi" to execute the file silently but nothing happens.
Can someone help me with what is wrong?
My machines have got UAC turned on, but my understanding is that as long as the powershell session is run as admin on my machine it should work on the remote machines...

The file is on C drive on the remote system, shouldn't that work? Or should i have "\\XXXXXXXXX\C$\GoogleChromeStandaloneEnterprise.msi"

Hi Dimitry,
If you are using SAPGUI for Windows then you do not need to install java on your PC, but if you are using SAPGUI for java then you will need to install java separately. It depends on which OS you are using on your PC.

Installed SAPGUI 710

I've installed SAPGUI 710 and by default two systems are showing in the logon pad, namely Cairo & Portal, which belongs to California State University, Chico. When I click login SAP login screen appears. My question is from where these SAP servers showing on the logon pad, if it is provided by SAP by default then what is the id & password for these?

Check the System Folder C:\WINDOWS Inside One notepad name as SAPLOGON. It contains the SAP Logon pad entry details.
If you delete or modify the file it will reflect to SAP Logon.
Problem was may it not updated when you install SAPGUI 710 or Folder contains previous SAP user logon information.

SAPGUI Remote control

I have a problem.
A SAP material number are displayed on a normal HTML web page. Now I need a function, which opens a new SAPGUI-Modus (normal SAPGUI) und starts the transaction MM03 (for example) for this material number. The user is already announced in SAP R/3
Who has experience with this kind of SAPGUI Remote control.

well, "remote controlling" a local SAPGUI does sound rather non-trivial. I would instead suggest the following approach:
Create a hyperlink for your material number that will launch an instance of the Application Integrator-iView (com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Transaction) (resp. URL Generator if working with EP5). Now, add the GET-parameter "System", which points to a system alias as defined in the system landscape. Last not least, you can send the material number to R/3 by simply adding dynpro params to the URL.
Hence, a typical URL might look like this:
"com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.Transaction?System=CRMCLNT200&Technique=SSD&TCode=*XD03 RF02D-BUKRS=1000;RF02D-KUNNR=&GuiType=WinGUI"
By doing so btw, your users don't have to be logged on previously to R/3 as the portal's SSO mechanism will take care of this automatically.
