Installing secure certificates (from I.E.) for Mai...

I got a new N73 a week ago and have since then tried to install the secure certificate issued by my MS Outlook server (outlook web access) to access exchange so that I can work Nokia's Mail for Exchange.
Now - this certificate is valid since on my previous phone (not symbian based - it installed and worked fine.)
I have followed several resources online and none work. I have exported .cer files and .der files.
To get the certificate files to the phone is not the issue. It's once they reach the phone that the problem starts. Only base-64 encoded x509.cer files show as "readable" files on the handset. Problem though that these files only open with a notepad reader. I want to install the certificate, not read the thing.
Am I just being stupid here or what but I have called several of the Nokia support centers (South Africa and United Kingdom) and they don't know how to install such on an N73 either... ???
Is there any hope out there ?

The icon should show up as a light blue background (round circle) with a questionmark.
==DONE
As if it's something wrong with the file.
== Phone says "unable to open file"
You should export the DER encoded binary file.
== Done
What your doing wrong is that you first have to click on the certification path and then chose the next certificate on the tree (in my case starfield secure certification authority), not the root, then press view certificate then go to details and export.
== File Exported - from PC onto PC desktop.
You cannot immediatlely go to details after you've opened up the certificate window and press copy to file.
== It is here where I get stuck...
I can export the file but HOW do I get it to INSTALL on the phone. I copied the file (all steps above) to the phone (from PC), once I try to open it, it says - "Unable to open file"...
If I use the phone's browser to go to the web page where the certificate lies, the phone asks me if I want to continue since the certificate is invalid, I can view the details but can not save it here...
Please help

  • For an existing security certificate, Thunderbird repeatedly asks for a permanent exception.

Starting yesterday, Thunderbird has started to repeatedly ask for an exception for a security certificate from an e-mail account I have had for over a year. Each time I click the Confirm Security Exception and the permanently store this exception field is checked.
I checked with the owner of the service and no changes have been made to their certificate.
I suspect that this is a bug in the current version, 31.5.0 I believe that this update was installed the day before this started happening.
    Please fix asap.
    Thanks

I have done this about 40 times now... Thunderbird accepts the exception once. Retrieves the e-mail. Next time it checks it says the certificate is missing a name and asks if I want to make an exception.
This started 3 days ago just after updating to the current version of Thunderbird.
I have been using this account/mail server for over a year. Probably had to put the exception in on the first connection. Haven't needed it since.
So the question is why isn't Thunderbird retaining the permanent exception for this server? I suspect a new bug. Please report and fix ASAP.

  • I cannot download software or export secure Certificate from Firefox, but can with Internet Explorer. This is crucial for meeting a deadline with an international patent Filing Today. Pls help - 555-555-5555. Sheldon

I tried to download an e-filing client software from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) website [http://www.wipo.int/pct-safe/en/download/download_client.htm] using Firefox. Clicking the link to download yielded no activity. I eventually tried the same link in internet explorer and it worked. This occurred last week. I have a deadline to complete an international patent filing today; and in order to do so online, I had to request a Secure Digital ID from WIPO. It was approved and received early this morning (Central European Time Zone); and the accompanying guidelines suggested that I use the same computer and browser to retrieve the ID. This meant that since I use Firefox as my default browser my request was also made and had to be retrieved in Firefox. Following the WIPO support instructions I ran into exactly the same problem of inactivity when trying to "Backup" my newly installed ID certificate per WIPO instruction, so that it may be imported into the e-filing software. Please help as soon as you can as my patent deadline is merely hours away. Please also see a response from the WIPO helpdesk below:

Subject: Certificates (use of and different types)/26708 Answer from PCT-SAFE Help Desk:
Unfortunately, apart from revoking your new certificate and then re-enrolling using Internet Explorer, I do not see many options.
We cannot do support for external software, like Firefox, but I had a quick glance at Mozilla's support side and it seems that you might be able to resolve your problem by starting Firefox in safe mode, and/or disabling all your Firefox extensions. I have to stress the fact that this is not a procedure tested and approved by the PCT-SAFE team.
As this is an extremely time-sensitive issue please also contact me by phone so that we can work through the solution in real-time. I can be reached at 555-555-555 - Sheldon

    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Attempting to download from a secure server

Just to follow up on my findings. My last issue regarding the digital certificate was not at the time of initial download into Firefox, but my application required that I backup the certificate into a folder which can then be accessed to sign a submission generated by a third-party Client software.
After finally steering away from the digital signing route by opting for a non digital filing of my project, I later revisited the Firefox certificates list only to find that the 'Backup' button still didn't work or respond in any way whatsoever; however since I only had a single certificate on my list... I threw my hand up in the air and tried the 'Backup All' button... guess what - that worked!! My browser then navigated to a file browser which allowed me to save the certificate to a folder of my choice. Of course this was after the fact as my deadline had already passed and and I had the Administrator who initially granted my secure ID revoke it once I was blocked from downloading it by Firefox.
Just an update/FYI for y'all... But I'm not sure if this type of anomoly is due to a glitch on my computer or a glitch on the browser - but it certainly did catch me off-guard during a deadline.

  • Installing Secure Certificates for Acessing WLAN

We have a secure WiFi access network at our office. It uses a .der certificate for root and a .p12 certificate for individual users. I have a Nokia E51. Can you assist me as to how I can install these certificates and access the secure WiFi Lan in my workplace.

    Hi,
first you would need to install the required certificates to the phone by using pc suite or memory card. Then at the office scan for the wifi networks and creat access point for your company's wifi. After access point is created, go to it's security settings and configure needed EAP settings for it. How to configure EAP depends on what EAP type your company's wifi is using.

Now have to send that certificate for authentication to vendor server using java(J2SDK 1.4).I tried allways to do cummunication but filed due to unabalability of private key.
Here I want to read that certificate from windows sertificate registry store which is installed from IE.
Is there any way to read IE installed certificates using java. If so please provide me that code.
Its very URGENT for me.....please help
    thank you
    Vinod

while exporting the certificate the am able to export only public keys, private key option is disabled. but those private keys are very important for my communication. I should pass those private keys to vendor for authentication purpose.

  • Installing a certificate from a Certificate Authority

I don't understand the process of a installing a certificate.
I have got to the step where I have a sign request.
Now I want to import the certificate. I am using tomcat.
The instruction that I have say that I need to import a certificate from a signing authority. It give me the following command.
keytool -import -alias root -keystore <your_keystore_filename> \
    -trustcacerts - file <filename_of_the_chain_certificate>
I found link to verisign for installing the intermediate CA certificate that says you need to copy and past some text that basically says "begin certificate" block of text , "end of certificate".
Where do I copy this block of text? Do I save it to a text file and them use it in the "filename_of_the_chain_certificate" example mentioned above. I don't see any examples that show all the details of the steps.
    Thanks.

    Hi Simon,
It looks like you're trying to do PEAP authentication on a specific SSID, is that correct?
Once you have the certificate generated, you'll upload it at the following location:
    Topline Menu -> Commands
Then you'll choose "download file" and choose the certificate type to install it.
PEAP usually calls for a server side certificate (on your authentication server) to be installed on that server. Then you have to configure the controller for 802.1x authentication on the SSID itself. Pointing to one of the authentication servers listed on the "WLAN" Menu under security "AAA Servers". The servers themselves are entered in the "Security" Menu under either RADIUS or TACACS+ tab.
I can point you in the proper direction if you need more assistance, as I've done this many times. I just need more clarification on what you're trying to accomplish.

    Hi k,
I don't know if it's the same in your OS, but in 10.6.8:
Go to Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access > Keychain Access menu > Keychain First Aid > enter your password > click on Verify > click on Start. If you get a message saying something needs to be repaired, click on Repair > Start and wait for it to finish.

  • I have a server runnng on Mac OS 9.2.2 with a secure certificate from Verisign. Apparently some Firefox users get a message warning that the issuer is unknown to them. Verisign is perhaps the best-known issuer of certificates

Note: I am in the process of moving the site to our central server so all pages, with the exception of the secure ones and the homepage, are redirected. See https://www.homelink-usa.com/secure/subscribe/subscribe.lasso which is secure and, in my browser Firefox 3.6.13, the location window is blue just like your site that I am typing on. The certificate expires on March 20, 2011.
I do not get the error message on any of my machines or browsers.
    Karl
    This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect securely to *www.homelink-usa.com*,
but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted
identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However,
this site's identity can't be verified.
    What Should I Do?
If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could
mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't
    continue.
    Technical Details
www.homelink-usa.com uses an invalid security certificate. The
certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown.
    (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)
    I Understand the Risks
If you understand what's going on, you can tell Firefox to start
trusting this site's identification. *Even if you trust the site, this
error could mean that someone is tampering with your connection.*
Don't add an exception unless you know there's a good reason why this
    site doesn't use trusted identification.

Might have a hardware issue that was caused by the minor liquid spill.
Take it to Apple to have them look at it.  I think they do a free diagnostics.  That way you can find out what's wrong with your MB.
Good luck....Hope you get it sorted out.

I can't get Firefox to install the CCA India 2011 root certificate either, only installing the NIC CA 2011.cer and NIC sub-CA for NIC 2011.cer is possible.<br />
The CCA India 2007.cer can be installed, but nothing happens if I try to import the 2011 version, so that certificate is either in an unsupported format or something else is wrong.

  • SNAFU - Installed Security Update from Mar. 16 problem

I just installed the Security update that was released on March 16 '06 for PPC, and now programs are doing odd things. I haven't done a complete run through of all of what's not working, however the thing that was immediatly effected was my AOL AIM for Mac. I'm running a Power Book G4 with 10.3.9, and I've never had problems like this before. It only began after I installed the update.
Because this is the first real screw up I've had in nearly two years, I'm essentially clueless in regard as to how to fix it. Because my computer searches for updates on a daily basis and I normally just respond with a quick 'install program' click, I messed this one up. Because I've never had problems like this, I'm at a loss as to how to fix it and/or get rid of it.
What I assume would be the easiest fix would be to get rid of the update, but I don't know how to do that, what to delete/uninstall, etc. Any advice, help, touble shooting, etc? Anything at all at this point would be appreciated.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Brittany,
It wouldn't hurt to do another Repair Permissions, but I'm not sure it would help, either...
I'll have to research to see if there's a way to undo security updates (I don't think there is, actually).
You may be able to reinstall your last combined OS X update, and then work via Software Update to work your way back to where you need to be software-wise. If you have been using Software Update to automatically update your mac, you probably don't have the full combined update for 10.3.9. Below is where you can find it at Apple. (Note: the full combined update has everything you need to go from the earllier versions of OS X 10.3 to 10.3.9)
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxcombinedupdate1039.html
Another option: First off, I'm unfamiliar with AOL. Do you have a way of reinstalling AOL, while keeping all your AOL files intact? You might consider doing that to see if it repairs the problem (I'd probably try to do this before doing the combined update install, mentioned above...)
You might hang back on all of this to see if someone gives an easier fix...
    Food for thought, anyway.

  • How do I install WIndows 7 from a download for use with Parallels?

I had installed Parallels and Windows 7 to my Macbook when I first purchased it.  Had some issues and uninstalled both.  Now I'm trying to reinstall and I can seem to get Windows installed.  HELP!

Haven't used Parallels, but have VMWare and VirtualBox on the Mac and must be similar. First off, by "download", it must be in an .iso format file, that represents the contents of a physical disk.
After creating the new virtual machine, configuring all the settings as needed for Win7, go to the virtual CD/DVD drive configuration. There should be means for attaching the .iso file to the device: Fusion calls it "Use disk image" and presents a drop down menu for selecting the .iso file. Then confirm that the startup order and/or startup device prioritizes the CD/DVD device. Once that is done, just go ahead and start the virtual machine up and it will boot from the .iso image. You can then use the standard Windows installer to set up your new Win7 instance.

  • Data security (Data from SAP BW) for AD users

    Hi  All,
    I have a scenario.
    BO env : Business Objects 3.1 Sp3
    Sap Integration kit Sp3
My target is to implement AD SSO & also provide data security for data from SAP BW. Currently there are no roles & authorization defined in the sap System. My plan was
Step 1:-  Implement AD SSO in Business Objects
Step 2:  Map the AD users in SAP system
Step 3:- Crate roles in SAP System
Step 4:-  Assign the users roles
Steps 5:- (Not sure) :-  Map the users (Now in SAP) to BO & then aliases them with the users from AD.
Pleas let me know if this would be correct approach... if not please suggest.... I am kind of new to SAP BO integration with experience in BO admin

Step 1: Setup Windows AD SSO on your BOBJ server
Step 2: Import Windows AD groups in BO
Step 2-  Setup Server-side SNC between BO and your SAP system
Step 3:- Create roles in SAP System and import them in BO
Step 4:-  Assign SAP users the created roles
Step 5: - In the CMC create SAP aliases for your Windows AD accounts
Step 6: - Setup your reports and/or universe connections to use SSO.
For more information on server side SNC check the installation guide of the integration Kit.
