Installing Shockwave Flash

I downloaded the correct file. Can someone tell me how to install it with Mozilla 1.3.1 - ?

Strange. From what I can remember when I had OS 9.1, when installing Shockwave Flash it automatically flashed an alert to ask me which browser I wanted it installed. The installer window listed all the browsers I had installed & all I did was pick which browser I wanted Shockwave Flash to go to.
I never "manually" placed the plug-in. The installer did all the work.
After you downloaded SWF, did you click on the "icon" to activate the installer?
Regarding rebuilding your desktop:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=10182 Rebuilding Desktop File and Icon Recovery.
Or you can use Techtool Lite or Trash*Desktop (TD may delete Finder comments )to rebuild your desktop w/extensions off. Does a better job than manually & you avoid all the finger gymnatics. You just have to hold down the shift key to shut off extensions.
Restart to turn the extensions back on again.
If you are still having problems after doing the above, I suggest that you start a new topic so that your issue can receive more focused attention.

  • Adobe Flash installing Shockwave Flash

I downloaded Adobe Flash player for Firefox web browser but when I checked my addons it says that I have shockwave Flash installed and no Adobe Flash.
I wanted Adobe Flash not Shockwave.
I researched the Internet and it reported that Adobe Flash and Shockwave Flash is two different softwares.

Then how come there are two different softwares for this?
Adobe Flash Player 11.6.602.168 here at this link "get.adobe.com/flashplayer"
    And
Adobe Shockwave Player 12.0.0.112 here at this link "get.adobe.com/shockwave"

  • After I installed Shockwave Flash 11.4 r402 I cannot open youtube videos with Safari 6.0.2. I still can open them with Firefox

I get only a black screen and I cannot play the videos. I removed the flash plugin and reinstalled but this did not make any difference.

I have the very same problem.
    Apple, what's happening?
Lately i have been fighting with issues i always had on Windows: tha's why i switchted to Apple.
I can't believe all it' s going so wrong!

  • I have spent hours trying to install Adobe Flash on Firefox and it won't work.

I have spent hours trying to install Adobe Flash on Firefox and it won't work.

    Seems a common problem.
What OS are you using, Windows 8 64 bit or something? Win 8 has an embedded Flash Player on it, and I have been told here that if this is the case, installing a new version of Flash Player is not necessary, but Fire Fox needs the plug in. They came out with a Flash Player plug in for use with Fire Fox that includes a debugger, but I have not tried it yet. (see below).
I have tried installing Flash Player 11.8.800.994  and 11.7.70.224...... and all crash. I think maybe some anti virus software needs to be disabled to allow installation, or the anti virus thinks its malware. I am also not sure if I need to also install Shockwave Flash for the whole thing to work?
Not sure the following will help and I am about to try it because I am going round in circles, too.
If 11.7 extended support release works for you, would you please update your success by adding a reply at the bottom of your original post, and let us know what you did that worked?

  • Shockwave Flash 11.3.300.262

I just installed SHOCKWAVE FLASH 11.3.300.262 today and now when I try to resize a window that I got to by entering a chatroom from a website, I cannot resize this window. When I disable the plugin/extension, I am able to resize the window by dragging, etc.

Sounds similar to this recent thread: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/929842 Since update last week, unable to resize popup windows?]

  • My website is telling users to install a flash/shockwave plug in but my site does not use either.

Like I said in the title we are getting the pop up bar asking users to install a flash plug in but there are not any flash objects on our site. I did an experiment and I found when I disable the shockwave plug-in on a machine that has it installed I get the pop-up and when I enable it on a machine that has it installed the pop-up goes away. I think I might have pin pointed the problem to a tracking script because when I remove the script the website does not ask for a plug-in. I contacted the people who made the script and they told me their script does not use flash in anyway. Does anyone have any idea why our useres are being asked to install the plug-in?
    Here is the pop-up:

Do you have any advertising on the site that could be using shockwave? If not the script you mention must somehow be using it somehow, you have even confirmed this removing it and there is no prompt.
What happens if you try it using another browser such as Firefox?
    regards

  • Adobe Flash Player not working--Shockwave Flash Object not installing

Ok...let's try this again.  Somehow my previous discussion that I had been working on with eidnolb got marked as "Answered" when it wasn't.  If you are reading this and are also having problems with Adobe Flash Player, please START YOUR OWN THREAD!  That allows someone to help you individually and will hopefully prevent MY question from being accidentally marked as "Answered" when it's not.  THANK YOU!
Now to start the whole process over....
    1.  When I download the latest version of Adobe Flash Player, my computer says it's succesful.  I'm able to verify through Add/Remove Programs that it IS on the computer.  However, when I'm on a site that requires AFP--like Hulu or YouTube--I get a message that says I need to download the latest version.
    2.  When I was working with eidnolb before, we found that for some reason the Shockwave Flash Object wasn't on my computer, even though I uninstalled and installed AFP several times and also restarted my computer.
    3.  I use Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 3 and Internet Explorer 8.  My computer also has AVG 9.0.830 for anti-virus protection and Spyware Blaster.  The only firewall I use is the standard Microsoft firewall that came already installed.
    4.  I am the administrator on my computer.  I have also made sure the following are disabled when I download AFP:  anti-virus program, anti-spyware program, firewall, all add-ons in Explorer, and any messenger programs.
Thank you to whomever is available and willing to help me.  I truly appreciate it!

I had this problem too. I'm not an expert with this at all, but Adobe Support at:
                                                                                                           http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
                                                                                               and      http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/000/6b3af6c9.html
said that if you try to use Flashplayer with Internet Explorer 8 (64 bit) it won't work and you'll just keep getting the message to "Install Flashplayer" over and over even if you can see in your files that you already have it installed. They told me to use the 32  bit version of IE  8, or another browser such as Mozilla Foxfire or Google Chrome (both of which are 32 bit).  Now I can watch Hulu with any of these three browsers. I didn't have to turn of AVG at all; but I have AVG  2011 Free Version 10.0.1170 downloaded from  http://www.download.com .  Also,  according to the first website shown above,  you don't have the latest version of Flashplayer,  which is recommended by Adobe.

  • Installed Flash player 10 but cannot find Shockwave flash object in manage add on's in IE?

Installed Adobe flash player 10 for
windows vista 32 bit operating system. Tried uninstall, re
install, checked all proxy settings. only thing that seems to be missing is when you op
en internet explorer and go to Tools, then manage add on's there is no Shockwave flash object. How do i fix this it shows that Flash player is installed correctly but it is not in my internet explorer add ons

Thank you Pat you rule. That was exactly what was wrong.

  • Apparently Flash Player is installed on my Windows 7 64-bit computer. Or at least the Adobe identifier says it is. Only Shockwave Flash is listed in the browser tools and it is enabled. When the popup comes up stating that this website wants to run Flash

I never had trouble in the 20 years or so I have been updating Flash Player. I have followed all the troubleshooting steps with no luck. Even uninstalling and reinstalling Flash Player and Shockwave Flash 3 times.

    Sorry. Internet Explorer 11
    Installed from Adobe.com

  • Installed Latest Flash and Shockwave players but not loading

    Hi,
I've installed/reinstalled Flash Player and Shockwave pleyers. I instaled in Safe Mode. I'ver used stand alone installers and unstallers. I've checked for malware and removed any found. I went back to an earlier verion of Firefox where  they worked but no result. Have same problem in Chorme. They worked before I upgraded to the latest versions. Adobe site test verifies successful installs.
I've not used the Microsoft tool.
Any help will be very much appreciated.

I found the answer on another forum, but since this result showed up higher in the google search results:
Install Flash player in the Internet explorer browser as well, it seems if you do it in FF it only installs what's necessary for Flash in FF

  • Some sites say I need shockwave flash 8 or higher - I have 10 installed

when trying to play a flash video e.g.
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-11165087
Play video clip titled " Electronics' 'missing link' "
    returns :-
"This content doesn't seem to be working. Try again later."
Using IE 8 the video plays OK.
Other sites refuse to play videos saying I need shockwave flash 8 or higher, and I have version 10 installed.
    (uninstallled and reinstalled several times)
sometimes thundering through the meues to use IE render engine works sometimes doesn't.

Your above posted Troubleshooting Information list shows the Flash plugin: '''Shockwave Flash 10.1 r82 '''<br />
    So Flash should be working.

  • Shockwave/flash player won't install

When I try to install the latest Shockwave, I get:
    The File 'C:\Program
    Files\Mozilla\Firefox\plugins\np32dsw.dll' could not be opened.
Please check that your disk is not full and that have access to the
destination directory. The system cannot find the path specified.
    Same as:
    http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum_thread.php?locale=en-US&forumId=1&comments_pare ntId=41462
And I tried all the fixes above and reinstalled FF 3. I can't
find np32dsw.dll on my HD by search.
I also searched this site and tried all I could find, mainly
tried an older version (8.5), and tried a complete uninstall of FF3
, Flash and Shock wave, then installed Shockwave before FF, but I
    get the same error.
Flash installs without error, but does not work on adobe's
    test page.
Not had this problem on other computers with same setup. Also
tried as admin after it failed as user.
    Any ideas?
    TIA

Shockwave: Latest, says 11 in add/remove progs. download says
    "Shockwave_Installer_Slim.exe"
    OS: XP SP2
    Browser FireFox 3.0.1
    Extensions installed: IE tab

Looks like I may have a solution for you.
I found the np32dsw.dll file hiding in the
    c:\windows\system32\adobe\director folder.
I've uploaded this to my own web space which can be found
    Here.
The other sites I've found referencing this file have been
slapped by Adobe after keeping it up for a while, so I won't be
keeping this up here for long. Let me know once you've downloaded
it and this will be removed.
In any case, try pasting that file in to your plugins folder
for FF3 to see if that helps.
Note: I'm running XP Pro - so this *may* not work simply
because a different dll could be used for Vista's installation. I
won't be able to provide you with any vista-specific files.
    Sorry.

  • If I install a newer version of Shockwave Flash, do I need to disable the previous one I was using?

At work we use a calendar system that requires flash. My previous shockwave flash (comes with the desktop pc I purchased) was the Shockwave Flash 10.3.181.22
Following my superior's advise, I install the newer version, Shockwave Flash 11.6.0.626
I can't really tell the difference, but I'm content I have it installed.
I'm using Mozilla, and when I go to Tools --> Add-ons, I see both Shockwave Flash versions ENABLED. Do I have to disable the older version in order for the newer one to function properly, or do I just let them both be enabled as it is now?
    Thanks for helping

Hi, You have Shockwave Player Shockwave Flash 11.6.0.626 which you have listed. Don't disturb that.
Adobe Flash Player is the browser plugin which you want to update. The latest version for that is 10.3.181.26 which was just released on 6/14/11.
    You can update here:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html
Use the EXE Installer for the plugin based browsers
    Hope that helps,
    Thanks,

  • The Firefox plugin page said I needed to install a new plugin for Shockwave Flash, but after doing the installation I checked back to see if the installation took place and the "action" column still says "update now" and potentially vulnerable."

After downloading the new version of Shockwave
flash the message in the box said the download was completed; however, the information on the Firefox plugin page keeps saying "potentially vulnerable" and "update now" as though no download took place. I repeated the download 2 more times and got the same results.

Your plugins list shows outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.

  • Why does Firefox list of plugins show "Shockwave Flash" when what is installed is really Adobe Flash Player; they are different .

Adobe; various websites; and now seemingly Firefox seem to continually confuse and obscure things regarding the two different Adobe Players (Adobe Flash Player AFP and Adobe Shockwave Player ASP). According to this security alert web article ASP is far less secure than AFP which itself isn't great. The article http://krebsonsecurity.com/2014/05/why-you-should-ditch-adobe-shockwave/ indicates:
Mozilla Firefox users should note that the presence of the “Shockwave Flash” plugin listed in the Firefox Add-ons section denotes an installation of Adobe Flash Player plugin — not Adobe Shockwave Player.
    ==========
My Firefox is working, but this confusion of calling things by their proper (or at least a unique name) seems crazy to me. If this is accurate can someone get Firefox to name things correctly, AND if article is accurate let this be a warning to others that they NOT use ASP, but as needed rely on AFP. There are Adobe test pages for each so you want to make sure that AFP succeeds and the other ASP fails to play.

hello, "Adobe Flash Player" and "Shockwave Flash" are the same thing - the latter is the technical term of the plugin that adobe kept for compatibility reasons after it acquired the technology from another company (macromedia)...
