Installing Smart View in local computer

Hi,
I am new to installation of EPM softwares. Can anybody please let me know if I need to install Essbase client (alongwith Foundation services, Provider services and others) before installing Smart View in my local computer?

I'm glad to hear you got it working! It sounds like the error you're getting might apply to an add-in other than Smart View. I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with your previous post.
There is a bit of confusion here. Smart Slices are created using the Smart Slice Designer, and listed in the Smart View Panel. <- you need admin privs to do this.
There is a forum here specifically for Smart View Smart View You may want to post there as this is more about that than it is Planning.

Install smart view link not working from workspace 11.1.2

Hi all,
I have a client who cannot install SmartView from the link in workspace (tool > install > smart view). A window briefly appears but then nothing happens. I had successfully installed smart view this way in 11.1.2. and it works in 11.1.2.1.
Any ideas?

If it is IE then you could try going to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level >
Under Downloads
Automatic prompting for file downloads - enable
File download - enable

Excel Taking time to open after installing Smart View

Hi,
After installing Smart View excel is taking around 2 minutes to open.
We just launch Excel and it takes two minutes to open. We don't connect to the planning server. Then when Excel responds, the smart view plugin works fine, we can connect to the Planning server and work normally.
Here's the installation detail:
We have install Smart View 11.1.2.2.310 on Windows 7 - 64Bits SP1. Each client use Office Standard 2010.
RAM: 4GB
Procesor: Pentium dual core T4200 2Ghz
We have try to install Smart View 11.1.2.3.000 and we have the same issue.
The machine ressource don't bog down. The procesor and ram use are normal.
The problem is that when the end user open an office document with the plugin smart view activate it takes 2 minute to open. There is no error. When Excel respond, the smart view works fine.

There was a bug in 11.1.2.1 and MS 2010 where the refresh is slower. I've seen the same on my machine with same configuration.
You can log an SR and see whether it is also a bug.

Installed Smart View Patch 19858481

I just updated to 11.1.2.5.216 and was wondering if there is any issue for Essbase 11.1.2.2.103. I followed the procedure given here, https://updates.oracle.com/Orion/Services/download?type=readme&aru=18235061. Besides Essbase we also use,
Hyperion Shared Services 11.1.2.2.300
Financial Reporting 11.1.2.2.303
Calculation Manager 11.1.2.2.302
We had a really large quote from our vendor for the same update. So, we are trying to find out if there is any missing piece involved in it.

As long as you have followed the Smart View upgrade Doc you need not worry, people can tell you various ways for Smart View upgrade but it is as simple as it is documented.
As you are upgrading from release 11.1.2.2.103 you can simply run the executable from the Patch (without uninstalling previous version) and install the latest version of Smart View.
You can also perform an auto deployment of smart view to upgrade SV on multiple systems.

Smart View error logging in to an application

Hello,
I successfully installed Smart View on a computer with Windows XP SP3. I can connect to the data source, but when I try to connect to an application, after entering the username and password, an error pops up: "Requested operation failed. Error: java.lang.NullPointerException"
Do anybody know the issue?

Are you connecting to a Planning or Essbase datasource connection?
Can you try connecting to other DS connections to see if it works?
If connecting to an Essbase datasource, have you configured your APS correctly?

Hyperion Smart View Refresh gives Error

Hi
I have installed Smart View version 11.1.2 in my Client's computer having 64 bit Operating System.
Whenever he opens the excel file and click first refresh all the cells having HsGetValue formula shows "Error"
It gives the same Error in every cell even after disconnecting and connecting again.
Please help.

So 11.1.1.3 smart view is not compatible for 11.1.1.3 HFM version for 64 bit OS.

Anyhow, if the "connection panel is blank", is because after installation you must recreate the connection by selecting a url connection using the following sintax:
http://yourservername/hfmofficeprovider/hfmofficeprovider.aspx , the selecting the appropriate HFM Cluster and database, plus user id and password to create the new connection.

Smart View in Chinese

Hi all,
Currently I'm using Microsoft Office 2007 and want to install smart view in Chinese language.
When I try to install and choose the language to be Chinese, after installation, my smart view is in English and not Chinese.
I had try go to menu Advanced --> Language, but only got 2 language. Default and English. Whatever language did I choose, it still in English version
Anyone know how to install smart view in Chinese edition?
FYI, I installed English version for a few months already and want to change language to Chinese

Click the Start orb and in the search type regional. You will see Change the date, time or number format. Open it and click the Administrative tab. Next click Change System Locale to Chinese.

Error opening form in Smart View??

I have recently installed smart view client on my machine.
After establishing connection,if I am opening a form in smart view it is giving something:
Response contains following unexpecyed tags(s):cellcolor

* Was the form created by editing another existing form, and saved using the 'Save as' option?
* Do the forms have Dynamic Time Series (DTS) members displayed in the columns or rows?
* Do these forms have '&' in the form name?

Unable to access Smart View 11.1.2.5.216 within Outlook 2007

All,
I uninstalled Smart View 11.1.1.3.x from my MS Windows 7 (x32) Professional SP1 machine and installed Smart View 11.1.2.5.216 during the same session (ie, without rebooting).
While SmartView comes up perfectly fine when I access Excel, Word and PowerPoint and I can connect to the various 11.1.2.3.00 EPM data sources, I cannot see the Smart View ribbon under MS Outlook. This is in spite of:
- having changed my MS Office 2007 installation to run Visual Basic Scripting Support on my PC for MS Outlook 2007 only (ie, via Control Panel > Programs and Features > MS Office Standard 2007 > Change > Add or Remove Features);
- deleting the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hyperion Solutions key and underlying sub-keys, after uninstalling 11.1.1.3 and before installing 11.1.2.5.216
There are no disabled COM add-ins displayed under MS Outlook 2007 and there were no further Hyperion-related entries (ie, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\Hyperion.CommonAddin) to amend\delete under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\AddIns. Moreover, I searched but could not find the Smart View PST file on my machine.
Would anyone have any suggestions as to where else I could be looking and\or what else I could be doing to enable Smart View under MS Outlook 2007?

Yeah for SmartView in outlook it does need PST file and on installation it created it automatically.
Could you try adding smartview addin in outlook,
and browse hsaddin.dll and hstbar.xla which are smartview required files.hstbar.xla in mandate one. do try this. if it doesn't work then i would suggest you to try uninstalling SmartView
reboot your machine
open cmd prompt with admin rights and navigate to the path where smartview executable is present and launch it through cmd prompt , it would install smartview with full admin rights and solve most of the issues.

Smart View 11.1.2.5 with Office 32 Bit and 64 Bit

Hello,
Does anyone know if it's possible to install Smart View 11.1.2.5.210 on MS Office 2013 32 Bit and MS Excel 2013 64 Bit on the same machine? We have users that have both Office 2013 32 Bit and Excel 2013 64 Bit installed. It seems like when we run the SmartView.exe it is looking for the full Office 2013 64 Bit suite and it won't install for just Excel 2013 64 Bit. I'm not sure if it's an issue having both 32 bit and 64 bit or if it's because we don't have the full 64 bit Office suite installed.

Smart view 11.1.2.3 error in Excel after installation

I have Microsoft Office 2007 and install smart view of Hyperion Workspace 11.1.2.3 bit but got an non identified issue at open Excel.
Kindly help.

Please follow the below steps
1. From control panel check for any smatview installed , if yes please uninstall the same
2. take the backup of Windows registry.
3. delete the entries in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\options
4. download the latest version of smartview from the below link.

Smart view 11.1.2

i am using office 2003. i have install smart view and i using http://<servername>:19000/workspace/SmartViewProviders in the shared connections URL . but i am not able to connect .
i am getting following message
Connection to shared services provider failed .
error message:'cannot connect to the provider. Make sure it is running in the specified host/port . Error (404).
i am using correct server name but i don't know about the port number . i am using 19000.
even when i open excel i am getting error message : Failed to create smart view extension activator object . verify that it is registered properly . But i am getting smart view ribbon at the top
can anybody help me with this error

If you are using Shared connections, please use Product Server URL: the URL of the server, using the syntax jdbc:oraclebi://<servername>:<port>/ for Oracle BI EE or http://<servername>:<port>/HyperionPlanning/SmartView for Planning for Planning.

There are also a number of PDF reader apps for the iPad, some of them free like Apple's iBooks and Adobe Reader, and some which are paid-for which are more powerful e.g. GoodReader.
Films can be purchased from Apple, or there are other sites such as Netflix with their own apps. The iPad natively supports a number of video formats (they are listed on this page).

Compatible smart view version 11.1.2.1 with microsoft office 2010 x64

The documentation, says its compatible, but when installing an error occurs.
Anyone know how to solve this problem?

I'm confused. There's an Oracle Proactive Support blog entry that says it came in with .300:

Even Matt Milella 'sorta' says it, here: SmartView 11.1.2.1 x64 compatibility with Microsoft Office 2010 x64
But then the latest New Features (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E38438_01/epm.111223/sv_new_features/sv_new_features.html#sv_new_features_361) definitely lumps it into the 11.1.2.2 (no dot) bundle. And John Goodwin says it. So I apologize if I'm giving out bad information.
But this doesn't help the OP, who is on 11.1.2.1. :)
