Installing SMB 4.6D

Hi,
I recently purchased ABAP objects and am trying to install the SAP Mini Basis 4.6D on the included CDs. I can not get it to install beyond 88%.  I listed the errors below.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Error: DBR3LICENSECREATE InternalInstallationDo 2 1
See logfile dev_slic for further information.
Info: DBR3LICENSECREATE InternalInstallationDo 2 1
See logfile dev_slic for further information.
Error: DBR3LICENSECREATE InstallationDo 2 1
Phase failed.
Error: Main {} 2 1
Installation aborted.

I finally fixed the other problem in SE80. I uninstalled the original MBS.  Removed everything from the registry and any stray files.  I went to the German SAP Press site and went to the downloads sections and downloaded the updated gui.  I followed the install on the CDs until the front end setup. After that I instlled the new GUI I downloaded instead of the one on the CD.
Here's were I got the new GUI from:

The one you want is called GUI Patches.

  • [SOLVED]Setting up Arch to read CIFS shares but no smb.conf

I am trying to ACCESS CIFS shares from another computer. Other clients can access these shares without issue. I am NOT trying to host files from Arch.
Reading I have done: wiki pages on SAMBA and SMBCLIENT.
Reading the SMBCLIENT wiki page, it apparently states that only the package smbclient should be installed, which I did.
But, following the SMBCLIENT wiki, it shows to issue:
    #smbclient -L
    #smbclient
both error saying smb.conf can not be read. BTW, is the -L to just list the shares available from any place?
    Questions:
    1. So, should smb.conf be created to use smbclient? This package evidently does not install smb.conf in any form.
    2. Does the SAMBA package need to be installed to use smbclient? Samba does install a smb.conf.something.
Any tips you have so I can read CIFS shares will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    steve.

Reporting my results at resolving my issues
    1. installing smbclient provides the described ftp-like environment while accessing CIFS shares. It works fine. I used
    $smbclient //OMV/steve -Usteve%omv
to access my share on the OMV server. I could list, get and put files. I still get the message about no smb.conf file but it works.
    2. Installing gvfs-smb package allowed Thunar to display the shares. In my case, I do a Ctrl-L and then smb://OMV/steve and I can display the shared content perfectly! Click to remember password or it apparently does not work.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Network shares not showing up in finder osx Lion

The shares on my network are not showing after I tried this SMBup. I tried to follow this guide but things didn't turn up as I was expecting them to work.http://knowledgebase.hsti.com/re-installing-smb-on-mac-os-x-lion-10-7-x
This is the official website where in the middle of the page there is a note stating that "SMBUp installs Samba, which in turn replaces Apple’s OS X’s native netbios and SMB services. This means that while connecting to servers from the Finder remains functional, the Finder won’t be able to “browse” network services and servers from the network won’t show up in the Finder’s sidebar. Be advised."http://eduo.info/apps/smbup
So i uninstall the samba restart the machine and now my shares don't show in the left side pane of finder. How can I get them back. Is the netbios service disabled

Open Terminal and issue the following command
    ps aux | grep netbios[d]
if you get a line similar to this
    _netbios          45   0,0  0,0  2477156   2456   ??  SNs   9:14am   0:02.44 /usr/sbin/netbiosd
then the daemon is running, otherwise issue the following command to start netbiosd permanently
    sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.netbiosd.plist

  • Solaris 11 - can't join AD domain

I've upgraded to Solaris 11 from 11 Express and am trying to join the system to an Active Directory domain. I first joined workgroup, then tried to rejoin the domain, at which time I get the following (names changed to protect the anonymous):
    myuser@ganesh:~# smbadm join -u "DomainAdmin" lothlorien.domain.com
After joining lothlorien.domain.com the smb service will be restarted automatically.
Would you like to continue? [no]: yes
    Enter domain password:
Locating DC in lothlorien.domain.com ... this may take a minute ...
    Joining lothlorien.domain.com ... this may take a minute ...
    failed to join lothlorien.domain.com: UNSUCCESSFUL
Please refer to the system log for more information.
    /var/adm/messages shows this:
    Nov 11 00:46:17 ganesh smbd[641]: [ID 270243 daemon.error] smb_ads_update_dsattr: ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s Local error
Nov 11 00:46:35 ganesh smbd[641]: [ID 702911 daemon.error] smbns_kpasswd: KPASSWD protocol exchange failed (Cannot contact any KDC for requested realm)
    Nov 11 00:46:35 ganesh smbd[641]: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] Machine password update failed
    Nov 11 00:46:35 ganesh smbd[641]: [ID 702911 daemon.error] unable to join lothlorien.domain.com (UNSUCCESSFUL)
I know for sure the system is locating the DC and trying to register itself - I can see the events in the Windows event log. Having deleted the previous computer account, if I watch the Computers node of the AD Users & Computers MMC snap-in, I can see the Solaris system appear briefly as disabled, then disappear a few seconds later (with corresponding events in the DC's Security event log).
I can't find any documentation specific to S11 (as opposed to SE11) that addresses what might be different (if anything) in the smb join protocols. I know by now that S11 can autogenerate your /etc/krb5/krb5.conf so the fact that I can delete/rename that file and it will reappear with valid information validates the fact that it does locate and connect to the (K)DC and get relevant config info, not to mention that I can type garbage for my domain password and the behavior is different so it can do kerberos authentication.
I think the key error here is the "ldap_sasl_interactive_bind_s Local error" but it's not enough information for me to determine causality. I've already gone through Google searches and implemented changes related to the NTLM levels and so forth, but unlike with SE11 which I did have working, these did not solve the issue.
I'm still trying to go through the S11 documentation including the End of Feature Notices for what's changed but I didn't see anything revelatory in the Interop guide. I know this could also be something that's in my AD/GP configuration on the Windows side (e.g. I've implemented a PKI and strengthened system authentication among certain domain members). Has anyone run into anything similar? Do you have S11 (as opposed to SE11) joined to your domain?

I finally got this figured out. It's a problem with client_lmauth_level on the smb service. the below script snippet configures Solaris 11 to join an AD domain on Windows 2008 R2:
    echo *** Installing SMB system
    pkg install system/file-system/smb
    echo *** Installing SMB service
    pkg install service/file-system/smb
    echo server $TIMESERVER > /etc/inet/ntp.conf
    svcadm enable ntp
    echo *** Joining domain: $DOMAIN
    svccfg -s smb setprop smb/client_lmauth_level=2
    svcadm enable -r smb/server
    smbadm join -u $DOMAIN/$DOMAINADMIN
Obviously, you should set the various variables for your local environment and probably a good idea to sync the clock explicitly instead of assuming ntpd will do it for you.
In addition, I had to set the auth level on the Windows 2008 domain:
Start -> Admin Tools -> Local Secuity Policy: Security Settings -> Local Policies -> Security Optiopns:
Network Security: LAN Manager authentication Level = Send LM & NTLM - Use NTLMv2 security session if negotiated

  • SMF service start error chdir: No such file or directory

    Hi ,
In my new Solaris 11 server in one zone I installed: smb, dhcp and an dns
    server.
All startup at (re) boot of the zone except the dns-server.
    view /var/svc/log/network-dns-server:default.log:
    [ Jun 14 14:04:11 Enabled. ]
    [ Jun 14 14:04:27 Executing start method ("/lib/svc/method/dns-server start default"). ]
chdir: No such file or directory
    [ Jun 14 14:04:27 Method "start" exited with status 96. ]
With svccfg I increased debug to 5 but nothing more is logged.
The dns-server just starts when doing:
    svcadm enable svc:/network/dns/server:default
The server runs as user:named , configured with svccfg.
If I look with ps then indeed it runs as named.
Even when I configure the user as root, it will not start at (re-)boot.
I am sure it has nothing to to with bind itself, because nothing is logged
in /va/adm/messages, it doesnt come to that far.
I think it is started too early because the log says:
chdir: No such file or directory
In some previous install it just worked , but I cant find
    the problem.
How to debug this ? ( i am rather new to Solaris)
    Thanks

    Hi ,
In my case the problem was:
I created a user called "named" with a role "dnsrole".
But for some reason the file /etc/auto_home
    contained entries like:
    dnsrole localhost:/home/named
    named localhost:/home/named
Although I specified in the useradd -d /var/named named.
An colleage of me advised to remove the dnsrole from auto_home
and to change the home dir for named to /var/named (vi /etc/passwd)
    And this fixed the problem.
Before I knew this I solved the problem by adding the dependencies
autofs and multi_user for the dns service, but this causes the service to start
    rather late.
    Now it works.
    greetings
    Rob

    Hello,
Thunar used to show external devices (USB sticks, iPod, ...) in the left panel (when displaying shortcuts instead of tree). For some reason I can't figure, it doesn't do it anymore.

  • Obex:// in nautilus? [SOLVED]

is it possible to browse bluetooth devices like mobile phones via obex in nautilus?
i can use obexftp and exchange files, i bond the devices via bluez-gnome.
i tried gnome-vfs-obexftp, gnome-bluetooth and obexfs (fuse module was loaded aswell), but nothing works. whenever i try to open obex:/// in nautilus, i'm told i should check the spelling.
hopefully this will get better with gvfs, which can use a fuse backend.
but until then i'd like to know if and how obex devices can be browsed via nautilus.
    thanks in advance.
edit: the gnome-vfs-obexftp PKGBUILD in AUR is borked: it says glib is needed where glib2 is a dep and it still installs to /opt/gnome, which is why it didn't work

I'm not sure why this thread was marked as solved, as the "solution" was to use a different wm...
I am doing the same thing with openbox, so I have a feeling the wm is not at fault here.
Perhaps a dep from XFCE corrected the issue? If so, which one?

  • SQL SERVER 2012 Installed to SMB share Error 59 (An unexpected network error occurred)

MODIFY FILE encountered operating system error 59(An unexpected network error occurred.) while attempting to expand the physical file '\\server\share\path to ldf file.ldf'
The SQL service is running under a local domain account that does not have administrator rights to the system.  The service account does have full disk and share permissions and the service starts without any problems.  I have applied all the cluster
hotfixes and all the current Windows Updates.  If I log into the system as the SQL service domain user account I can access the share and have full rights to it.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

The LDF file is 16 GB
Free space on the drive is 62 GB
Expansion is set to 10 percent
I have several instances on this cluster, some are installed to drive letters and others to the clustered file share.  The error only occurs on the SQL 2012 instances that are installed to the clustered file share.
I installed them to the clustered file share because I am running out of drive letters in the cluster.

  • Silent Printer install for SMB Printers

We are having an Issue/Annoyance with Zenworks Printer policies and mapping SMB Printers. We are currently on Version 10.3.4 but it has always been the same for older versions as well. On Windows XP/Vista/7 whenever a printer is mapped it pops up a Window saying (Example: "Connecting to HP4000_Room1 on SEKDPS"). This wasn't too bad originally because we had printers mapping to a folder for each specific room, so only a printer or two would pop up quick and go away. Recently we needed to make a change so that students could have access to other printers all over the building. Now when a student logs in for the first time on some computers they spend up to 10 minutes with constant pop ups that the printers are connecting. Is there anything we can do to make this window silent, hidden or at least minimized. I know I can move these policies back to a login script/Group Policy preference and they will connect silently but would rather assign these via Zenworks especially since they are all already configured for defaults and etc.
    Thanks,

  • I've tried to eliminate system errors by performing a clean install of ML. What's the best way to set up my iMac for a singlet user?

One of my main goals is to be able to run a Windows application on my iMac, purchased in July, 2012, with the Intel 2.5Ghz i5, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive. At first I installed Boot Camp and then Win 7, then the application I need to run, and I don't recall having problems. But I tired of the required reboot each time and got greedy and needy - so I installed VMWare Fusion, only to be told that the W7 software I use won't work with Fusion, but it will with Parallels! So, I was able to get Parallels at a discount (because I had Fusion), and decided I would import Boot Camp into Parallels.
Then the problems began. I suspect I did something I shouldn't have during this process, but to shorten the story I did a clean install of ML, set up iCloud, and monitored Console for problems. And problems there were - lots of them, and they all seemed to reference iCloud in some way. Since I have the ML installer on a thumb drive I thought I'd see what happened if I did another clean install, but this time I'd ignore iCould altogether (yes, I have everything backed up to mypcback.com) and proceeded. As before, the errors streamed down Console's face as if it were my own. I've run OnyX, which seemed to help, but many of the issues persist. I'm at a loss as how to proceed other than invoke Apple Support, which, BTW, is not covered under Warranty.
I need to have a stable ML platform before I start using W7 and refuse to believe that the OSX is "just buggy." Can someone help. I have no other iDevices that need to be synced, and really don't see the need to set up iCloud. Noone else than I use the iMac. It should be pretty simple to create a stable OSX so I can go where I need to go. I realize 4GB is not a lot of memory and will look into that. For the moment, I can stip down Win 7, and OSX for that matter, to free up memory. I didn't want to included a bunch of log files, but I will if someone thinks that it would be helpful.

This DNS change is only the lastest manifestation of what seems like an endless list. Can anybody give me some direction before I have to pay Apple to fix what I think they broke themselvesa?!?  BTW, I am not a tech. Thanking everyone who read this and especially to anyone who can help.

Linc, thanks for the tips. I knew you'd have a good method. I asked for it because I have learned of some of the myths about OSX and it's need (or lack thereof) to be scrubbed, rinsed, and blown dry; suckering folks into buying all manner of utilities to keep your Mac spiffy at all times, when in fact it rarely needs any intervention at all because of its Unix background. In fact, I rarely shut mine down and I've learned that the system is actually designed to be left running under most circumstances.
To keep your data secure the three most important things to know is backup, backup, backup. I use a third-party, cloud-based back-up system. It can automatically make backups every hour if that's what I want and I can supplement that anytime by simply dropping a file into the application's desktop interface.
Since I last posted my Mac has been running smoothly and I've been able to install Parallels and Windows 7, as well as the VantagePoint software I mentioned. Though it crashed once this morning and I submit one line from the log file:
    12/20/12 10:31:00.639 AM appleeventsd[54]: BUG in libdispatch: 12C60 - 1510 - 0x4
After a reboot, log entries spewed all manner of troubling messages, from those that are osascript-related to broken forks, etc. but as far as I know there were no actual crash logs generated until this afternoon, one being just a few minutes ago. Linc, would you be so kind to take a look and tell me if there's something I need to do?

  • Unable to mount SMB shares under Mac OS 10.6.5

    Help -
*I can no longer mount any shares from my Seagate BlackArmor NAS-110*. I bought the device (a 1TB network drive with CIFS (aka SMB), NFS, and FTP capabilities (no AFP connectivity)) in June of 2010, and it was working fine until appx (18 Nov, 2010). My computer - MacPro 2x2.26GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (early 2009) with 12GB of 1066MHz DDR3 RAM and Mac OS 10.6.5. My home network is running on Apple's TimeCapsule router (version 7.4.2).
Note: Problems began after installation of recent updates:
    11/10/2010 - Mac OS 10.6.5
    11/12/2010 - iTunes 10.1
    11/13/2010 - iLife '11
    11/13/2010 - iPhoto 9.1
    11/18/2010 - Safari 5.0.3
I'm not sure which, if any, of these updates may have intrudced new code which impacted my ability to mount SMB/CIFS shares, or whether this problem is isolated to the NAS-110 (actually, reading numerous posts about connectivity issues (during/over the last month or so) shows similar issues with other external drives, servers, NAS devices). The issues may not have materialized until I rebooted the NAS or the Mac. FYI: The only firewall I'm using is the Mac's built in firewall, and I've got File Sharing (AFP, SMB) set to Allow Incoming.
What happens? I can't mount the SMB shares. I can see the device in my finder. It shows up as "BA-22B9C2", and I can see the sharepoint folders (in Finder): Download, Public, and wiki. When I attempt to SMB mount the shares (by any of the following methods: Double-Click in Finder, use 'Go->Connect to Server' or using the 'BlackArmor Discovery' application) The share/folder icon does not appear on my desktop. It creates a mount-point in the /Volumes directory, but no folder appears on the desktop. I can 'cd' into the sharepoint, and I can see that Spotlight has attempted to index the sharepoint (a .Spotlight-V100 directory was created), but I cannot see the 'Our Music, Our Pictures, or Our Videos' folders inside the Public share/directory. Successive attempts to mount a share, using Finder results in additional mount points in the /Volumes directory (Public-1, Public-2, Public-3, etc), but no folder icons on my desktop.
FYI: The 'Connected servers' setting (under 'Shared') is enabled in my Finder's Prefences (along with Bonjour and Back to My Mac), so connected shares should appear on the desktop.
Attempts to mount shares using the Connect to Server method (smb://10.0.1.2/Public, smb://admin:[email protected]/Public) also fail. No folder appears on desktop. The password/login authenticates (connecting to server), and a mount point is created in the /Volumes directory, but no folder appears on the desktop.
Attempts to mount shares using the BlackArmor Discovery application generate similar results. Shares are visible in the tool. I click on the 'Public' share (which has permissions set to 'read, write, execute' for all), then click the 'Mount Share' button. I am presented with an authentication/login dialog. I log in as a Registered user (name: admin password: admin) Once again, a mount point is created in the /Volumes directory, but no folder appears on the desktop.
Notably, whenever I attempt to mount a share, Spotlight indexes the share, but then it dies on my computer. Spotlight stops indexing my primary drive (where the OS is installed for my Mac). I have to stop the mds process using Activity Monitor. mds restarts automatically, and it starts indexing my primary drive again. While this may not be critical to my troubleshooting efforts, it has caused some considerable consternation on my part.
I initially (back around the 18th of Nov, 2010) attempted troubleshooting with the assistance of Seagate technicians, but they quickly gave up on the email support, insisted I had to continue over the phone, which costs ~$14.00 per 'incident' and isn't convenient for my schedule.
I've already attempted to update the firmware on the NAS (from 1000.0361 to 1000.1081), but that won't work. The NAS indicates a firmware update (1000.1081) is available, but it reports: "Firmware is not found". I had a friend try this update using his Windows machine (and my NAS), with the same results. He tried with a a Vista box and a Windows-NT running through emulation. I also tried to manually update. I downloaded the firmware image file "sg1000-1000.1081.img" from the Seagate downloads page, and attempted a manual update on the NAS. That failed with error "Failed to upload new firmware image to system." Once again, my friend tried to perform a manual update to the NAS. He downloaded a new copy of the file (from the Seagate downloads page), and he got the same error.
The Seagate techs recommended that I update the firmware. I explained my problems updating the firmware, and I have asked the Seagate techs (via email) for a known good copy of the firmware update, but they do not answer my requests for such.
The Seagate techs recommended that I restore the NAS with a factory reset. That caused plenty of problems, as their is no mac software to recover the factory reset 'key' from the device (need device MAC, and I presume some sort of hashing key stored on the device). So, I had to cart the drive over to my friends house, and have him attempt the restore. After some initial confusion regarding the MAC address, we were able to successfully restore the device to it's factory settings.
Note: Before attempting the factory reset, my friend attempted to mount the SMB shares (on the NAS), using his Mac running 10.6.5. He encountered the same problems I encountered. When he tried using his Windows-NT (through VMFusionWare emulation) *he WAS able to mount the shares*. O.k. This must be a Mac OS issue, and not a Seagate NAS issue. - Now that the drive has been restored to factory defaults, it's pretty much empty (some folders, but no data). Default admin/admin username/password are in place.
I'm not sure which, if any of my most recent software updates may have introduced changes to smb/samba, so I tried mounting the device using other services. It's capable of FTP and NFS as well as CIFS/SMB.
I tried to create an NFS mount. I tried using two different methods (an application called NFS Manager and the 'Connect to Server' method built into the Mac. Both methods failed to establish a nfs mount to the server. No login errors were noted, but no mount points were created in /Volumes, and no folders appeared on the desktop.
I tried to connect via FTP, that didn't work either (using an my Transmit client). I'm certainly striking out with this drive. My Mac will not mount the shares/folders. I tried FTP (to 10.0.1.2 as admin) using Transmit application (on port 21). Transmit reported "Could not retrieve file listing for “/Public”. Server said: OOPS: Child died Error -162: Port failed". Connectivity protocols of CIFS, NFS and FTP (on port 21) are enabled on the NAS and the /Public share.
*When I attempt to connect using the Connect to Server method (See Apple's 'Go' menu in the Finder), I met with sucess!* ftp://10.0.1.2/Public connect attempt resulted in two pop ups. One of them said 'connecting', the other said something about "'NetAuthAgent' (I didn't write it down) wants permission to access your confidential keychain data" Presumably, this was the authentication request. I said 'Always allow'. A folder appeared on my desktop and a finder window opened showing the contents of that folder. Unfortunately, the share is 'read only'; even when I attempt to authenticate as a specific user.
Note: I don't think FTP attempts to index the mounted shares.
Prior to the factory reset, I was able to connect to the shares using the Seagate's 'Global Access' web based ftp service. Now I cannot connect through the Global Access page.
Below are 'Console' entries and a listing of my /Volumes directory. These may help resolve the issue. I deleted some entries (those I felt were unrelated to the issue). I left in stuff that's been bothering me.
_*Can anyone help me reestablish SMB connectivity with my NAS-110?*_

O.k. Thanks for the clarification. I poked around in my TimeCapsule router's settings (TimeCapsule is an Apple Airport Extreme router with attached hard drive for wireless backup/storage). Unfortunately, it doesn't look like I can disable multicasting with the TimeCapsule. I can change the multicasting 'rate'. Settings are Low, Medium, High. It's currently set to Low.
I did a few web searches, and found an Apple.com article: <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3789?viewlocale=en_US> which explained how to disable Bonjour Service Advertisements. I believe this is the same thing as 'Multicasting'. The process is a modification of "/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist", and a restart of the Mac is required afterwards.
I'm a bit concerned that disabling multicasting will interfere with my AppleTVs and iTunes music sharing, but I may try it next time I'm up for a computer workout. This task will require editing of system preference files, could require multiple restarts, might interfere with my AppleTVs, could interfere with my iTunes file sharing, doesn't have a documented relationship to my problem.
This is way to difficult for something that should just work. Did you say you had read something about a relationship between this bonjour multicasting and smb connectivity? If it was online could you post the link?
I'm currently able to connect to the drive using NFS, but I have to manually configure that connection each time I reboot (can't get the 'Disk Utility' configured to do it automatically). While it's working with NFS, it's not my preferred connect method (for various reasons).

  • How do i install windows2008/R2 on macmini lionserver 10.7?

    hi experts
I swapped from smb 2008 with TS to mac mini with lion server 10.7. with 2 users only.
for my ERP system, dynamics Navision 2009, i need a windows environment on the mac mini. i want to swap from NAv to Mac without login everytime.
i understood i need to install windows 2008/R2 with SQL . Can somebody inform me how to install and if this will work.
If someone has experience in using navision on a mac i would like to hear your comments.
thanks for your support, new user of mac.
    DCEdwin

Server 2008 RC2 doesn't support all of the necessary drivers for the Mini. I'd suggest maxing the RAM and installing it in a VM. It has worked well for me so far.
