  • How do I install software from cd-rom onto my IdeaPad S10?

I just received my IdeaPad S10.  How do I install software from a cd-rom onto it?  I tried putting my cd-rom in my regular laptop and copying it onto a flash drive and then copying it to the IdeaPad.  The installation starts, then I get a message that installation has stopped because the installation has been corrupted.  Any easy ways to install software?

    Here's what you can do.
Download virtual Clone drive (freeware) from here http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html  install it on your S10.
Now on your destop, make a backup ISO of your software CD or DVD.
I use this http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm it integrates with explorer on the right click menu. There are other solutions also.
Once your ISO is created you can copy it to your S10 via network, usb key, etc, and mount it as a drive letter with Virtual CLone drive.
    Hope that helps.

  • HT1349 How do I go about installing software from a disc onto my ipad2? I have no external drive, but do have a PC with iTunes on it. Someone suggested I could load it into iTunes and then sync with the iPad, but this suggestion doesn't seem to work.

How do I go about installing software from a disc (a language programme) onto my ipad2? Someone told me if I downloaded it to iTunes on my PC I could then sync it to the iPad but hav not been able to do that.

Even if there was a convenient way, the software will not run on the pad.  Ios is a unique language, and only programs written for ios will run on the pad.   All of the programs are in the app store.  You might look there and see if the company that makes your sfotware also has an ios version, which would be in the store.

  • Cant install software from disk. Terminal window opens with a logon and bash message?

I cannot install software from disk & in some cases download.
If any software disk is inserted the terminal window appears.
The Disk has to be clicked to open the contents but install files or package files show as a blank doc and not the usual yellow package icon.
All that shows is a log on message in the terminal window, but nothing about install.
I thought Drive issues but the drive plays audio and DVD perfect
    I cannot install:-
    Office for mac updates
Live Interior 3D (managed to install from download)
    ION Audio Converter
This has only come to my attention in the last couple of weeks.
The machine is a late 2011 with Lion installed

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine.

  • Installing software from an external DVD writer?

I have a MacBook Pro Summer 2012 so I needed an external DVD writer (Samsung SE-208) to install reFXs plug-in Nexus 2. I have connected the writer and I can hear it's running and it shows up in Finder. The problem is that no DVD is showing up. The writer supposedly works out of the box on Mac. What can I do? Is it even possible to install software from a DVD writer?

Could be the DVD is for a Windows system and not Mac OS X. Try any music CD in the drive. I personally have never had any problem with any brand external DVD drive that connect by USB port on my Mac. I have even used a Desktop style/size DVD drive that is supposed to be installed inside a desktop case and as long as I supply the proper power to it and connect it to my Mac with a SATA/IDE to USB adapter the drive works just fine.

When you insert a CD/DVD in the optical drive, does an icon appear on the desktop?  If not open Finder Preferences and check the appropriate box(s).
    Ciao.

  • How to install software from imac to macbook pro

how to install software from imac to macbook pro

Are you using one of the newer iMac's with no DVD drive? If so, you can either get an external CD/DVD drive (any make - doesn't have to be Apple) or, if you have another Mac on the same network that has a CD/DVD drive you may be able to do it by turning on 'DVD or CD Sharing' on that Mac (System Preferences>Sharing). Hopefully you'll see the disk on the Mac without the DVD drive and be able to install from there.

  • Installing software from CDs

Unlike on Windows PCs, there appears to be no Wizard or any assistance when trying to install software from CDs (eg. for printers etc) Is there any free software on the net available to download which would do the job for me?
Thanks in advance for any replies

    hey there STL,
it should be simple to install software:
    1) load the disc
    2) when it appears on your desktop, double-click it & it should open
    3) there should be icons w/ titles-eg. a page & read me, compass & register, box & install
    4) click on the icon you want- in this case install & it should open
    5) follow the instructions that appear, these should walk you through
in most cases use the Easy Install, the software will load, optimize your system & the 'puter will tell you when it's done. quit & eject the disc.
    good luck, hope this helps

Contact their tech support department since it's their product, not Apple's.  Did you read the user manual?  You make no mention of doing so.

  • Installing software from xserve

Hi Guys just wondered among my many horrible problems i'm having with xserve, i have to find the easiest way to install adobe master collection and final cut studio onto 20 client imacs ASAP.
Someone suggested installing on one machine then using time machine to restore to all other machines and just rename the machines. Is this the easiest way, i thought you could install software from the xserve over the network to all machines is this not true?
secondly i thought you could backup over the network with time machine but after looking at it it looks like we would need to have a physical disk attached to the imac? or is there a way of making time machine see a network drive?

+i have to find the easiest way to install adobe master collection and final cut studio onto 20 client imacs ASAP.+
This really a job for Apple Desktop Remote. You can use it in conjunction with an Xserve as the source of the software but with ARD you can push packages, direct computers to look at the Xserve for software and run installers all from a single place.
+secondly i thought you could backup over the network with time machine - or is there a way of making time machine see a network drive?+
You need to share a volume from the Xserve and (assuming it's running 10.5) make that volume available as a Time Machine destination and then you can point the individual machines at it for back-up. Check the documentation - it is pretty straight forward. Again, you could use ARD to set each individual machine to use the network volume as the destination.
    Hope that helps,

  • Installing Software from Source

This question might sound a little bit retarded, but I'm just starting out, so I'd appreciate a little bit of help. I'm trying to install software from source, but it does not seem to work. Or at least, not for lynx, so I'm wondering if pacman is the only way of installing software on Arch (which I pretty much doubt).
I've downloaded lynx, unarchived it, went into its directory, and typed ./configure, followed by make and make check. Everything seemed OK, as I have even got the "Welcome to Lynx!" message. So I went on and typed sudo make install, and no errors occurred. But when I tried launching it with lynx, it said the command is not found. What am I doing wrong?
Also, one more thing: when I loose the prompt, how do I get it back? I mean, like this (http://bit.ly/4tkurS)
    Thanks in advance!

XLR3204S wrote:Thing is, I'm trying to learn my way around Linux, not specifically Arch Linux. I've got lynx through pacman before, but this time I wanted to get my foot wet with installing programs from source, as, in fact, I don't need lynx at all. I'll look more into it as soon as I get other things I want to built from source.
This isn't really arch specific. Installing from source without using the package system is a bad idea(tm) on (almost) any distro. Only the method used to create a package differs.
Edit: not that you "learn GNU/Linux" by compiling anyway. The best way to learn GNU/Linux is just to use it, and to read. There are several good books on the kernel, init systems, userland basics and so on.
