Installing Sol 8 on Proliant 800

I'm having trouble installing Solaris 8 (01/01) on a Compaq Proliant 800 (P02). The install fails with "no disks found" after loading the kernel. There are no SCSI devices listed in /devices and this has been tried with the cpqncr driver included with the dist and the latest one downloaded from Compaq. The install sees the SCSI controller and disks during configuration and even lists them on the "choose to install from" menu, but seems to lose them entirely after booting the kernel. This unit is a PP200 and is NOT listed on the HCL, but this same unit with the PII-350 is. Any ideas?

to access / modify the install to tell it to format

I tried "probe-scsi all/format" thinking that that
process would detect the drive and format it, but no
such luck.Well, actually it should detect the hd. But I'm not sure about the /format, because I think, that probe-scsi detects all SCSI devices and not only the harddrive.
let me please summarize your problem, so that I understand what you are going to do:
- You have a new harddisk, unformatted, unpartioned
- You can't use it, since the installation does not start. (well it should, even without harddisk)
- you want to format it before.

Please Help! I am a newbie to Solaris and I am trying to understand some of these postings in this thread. I am trying to install Sol 10 on a Compaq DL360 with dual proc 1.26 MHZ and 3 GB RAM. It has an imbeded 5i array controller with two 36 GB drives attached set up as RAID 0.
I have downloaded the Sol 8 UTI disk for the controller and seem to be able to successfully add the driver for installation. Note: I renamed the directory from Sol_28 to Sol_210 as instructed earlier in this thread. I get a warning message after loading the driver that says :
Solaris could not detect a primary disk.....
However, the system has detected a disk controller without a driver, and assumes that the following disk maps to the primary disk:

Choose continue to confirm the Solaris bootpath of the primary disk.
I press F2 to continue.
I continue with setup and choose Interactive text console. It boots the kernel then I get some memory resource overlap warnings but setup continues. Then I get two warnings that read...

I choose language as English and get same two warnings again. Setup continues. I enter network config info, and set root password then continue. Then installation starts and I get this error...
One or more disks are found, but one of the following problems exist:
Hardware Failure
Unformatted diskThen I push f2_ok and I get kicked out to shell.
What am I missing? Did I miss something? I tried this on another machine, a Compaq Proliant 800 with a 4200 controller with same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FYI: I tried yet another version of solaris as i found out that theres a bug in the 64-bit kernel on update 4 for alot of new processors. Solaris 10 x86 update 7 did the trick! :). Installed right away on a standard 'Solaris 10 (64 bit)' VM. I still find it strange that the most recent version of solaris 10 fails to even start the installation.

Install Solaris10 on HP ProLiant ML370 G6, "No Disk" error

I want to install Solaris10 on HP ProLiant ML370 G6 servers which are on the Hardware Compatible List( HCL). However, I always encounter "No disk" issue and installation fails. The disks are HP SAS disks.
I searched online and knew that CPQAry3 driver must to be installed first. I did but the "No disk" error still happens later.
I am wondering what else I should do?

You have to apply the ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade before.

Installing Flash Player 11.8.800.94 via GPO not working properly

i've installed Flash Player 11.8.800.94 via GPO.
Installation works fine, but there is no flash player available in Firefox or Internet Explorer.
Deployed both Flash Players.
Tried to reinstall Flash Player 11.8.800.94 for Firefox, but it's still not active.

I have been trying to install Flash Player 11.8.800.94 for weeks. Everytime I install the install bar stalls out around 52% and I get an error message.
I've uninstalled 11.7.700.225 and tried again. Still the same results. Checked Flash install site (Adobe) followed instruction and
still the same.
Could someone help me out.

Seems to me that the download is being blocked by a firewall or something.
Try installing using this archived zip file.

1. Extract the zip
2. Navigate into 11_8_r800_94
3. Run the uninstaller - "uninstall_flashplayer11_8r800_94_mac.dmg"
4. Run the installer - "flashplayer11_8r800_94_mac.dmg"

I have had repeated trouble installing Flash Player 11.8.800.94 on Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) despite following every step listed in the Macintosh Installation Help guide: uninstalling previous versions, turning off anti-virus protection, etc. Each time I get a warning message for both Safari and Firefox attempted installations as follows: "Error: General installation error." The only solution seemed to be to reinstall an earlier version: 11.7.700.225.
Any suggestions?

If you're not comfortable with terminal commands:
Download the offline installer here (right click and "Save as")
Quit all browsers
Go to: MacHD/Library/Internet Plugins... and if the Flash Player.plugin is still there "trash it".
Then go to: Mac HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe and "trash" the Flash Player folder if it's still there.
Empty the trash.
Mount the DMG and run the installer
Relaunch Firefox and it should work

Install SOL after ERP

I have a question : I install SOL and generate key. After I desinstall it... But now to get SP, I need to reinstall it. It is mandatory when I read all threads.
Can you secure me that if install SOL on ERP now, I can use on the same SSID and the same database host without any problems with ERP after ? Can i have some problems with database structure or anything else ?

Hi,
Go ahead and install your SOLMAN. Its a separate installation. It will not affect your ERP in anyway. All you have to do is once you install your SOLMAN, in System Landscape Setup (SMSY) you create system with your existing ERP SID and DB. It will not affect your ERP.

I have installed many applications and games in my Lumia 800 (windows 7.5), but I am worried whether installing many applications in a windows phone will ultimately slows down my mobile?

Actually I heard that microsoft designed the Windows Mobile OS in such a way that there will be no any background application running while running a particular application. So I don't understand how the mobile device will perform slow in case of a large no of aplications installed in it, because the RAM memory space will not be occupied by additional applications because of no background process.
Could you please shed some light on this technical thing if I am wrong?

Install solaris 10 on Proliant 1600 - Compaq Smart Array 221

I'm trying to install solaris 10 06/06 on a Proliant 1600 with smart array 221.
I boot from the cd and choose the first option (Solaris), then I get this warning:
WARNING: failed to program IO space [0/20/2] BAR@0x20 length 0x20
and the system hang up.
Does anyone know to what it is related to?

Compaq Smart Array 221
1 CPU 550mhz
512M RAM
It would be nice if somebody could help.

Has any body found a way to get Solaris 10 to install with the Smart-2DH controller? I've got a Compaq Proliant 1850R that also has that raid controller and the Solaris 10 install rejected the Solaris 8 driver.

I keep getting an invitation every time I reboot to install an update of Adobe Flash Player 11.8.800 16.9 mbs into my Dell vostro 1500 laptop in the U.K. with Vista.
I have tried to install it but it always fails to complete installation. I can find no information as to whether installing this update will be of any value, as I rarely use Adobe, and when I do everything works ok, so what on earth is the point of these habitual updating invitations? Will I suffer in any way if I just ignore them because they will not download.
Also with the invitation it also indicates it will install McAfeesecurity scan plus. What the hell is that? What has it got to do with an Adobe flash player. I did have McAfee securty a long time ago but found it poor compared to AVG so i now have AVG installed paid for till 2014 and do not want to go back to McAfee.Anyway I understood that if you have any virus security system, you should not attempt to install a a rival virus security system because they are likely to interfere with one another so increase your chances of getting a virus. So why am I being advised to install this with the Adobe flash player that I keep being invited to install. It all sounds like a big scam to me? Can someone please enlighten me. Thanking you

As for the bundled 3rd-party software, the offline installer does not contain any.

Unsuccessfully attempting to install Tiger on iMac G4 800 (2g)

I acquired an iMac G4 800 (2,1) with 512MB (2x256) stock RAM, and I'm trying to install Tiger. I've downloaded the Hardware Test, and found the computer to fine on a full scan. Panther 10.3.9 works fine. When I use my original Tiger disc (purchased back in the day to update an iBook), I used disk utility to fix permissions and check the HD for errors - none. I get through the verification of the disk (no issues) and then as it's checking my hard drive for install, it says
"There were errors installing the software"
and then it asks to reboot.
I've tried to do an upgrade as well as clean install (new system folder), but I'm hesitant to do a full wipe of the HD for fear that it won't work at all. I've tried taking out the user RAM and installing with just the factory 256MB, same result.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Be sure to use the correct disk utility for the system that came with it.
The older Disk Utility is not suited for use with a later system.
Was the external FW enclosed hard disk drive capable of booting a Mac?
Not all FireWire enclosures can do that job. Is it self-powered or does it
rely on port power? And sometimes, an installation to an external drive
via one Mac, won't work when trying to use it to boot up another.
There are several areas where the potential exists to cause the problems
you face in trying to make the computer work. And it will also need to have
more RAM installed at some point, for Tiger 10.4.x to function best. In a
few instances, older RAM may fail when used with a later OS X version.
Was the internal hard disk drive fully erased (secure erase, one-pass
zero overwrite; then partition map APM used, then reformat HFS+)
prior to an attempt to install Tiger 10.4.x - and - with Tiger's Disk Utility?
Assuming the iMac G4 800 machine has at least a Combo optical drive
so it can use a Tiger DVD retail install disc, that part of it should not be
a problem... Unless this is the reason you were using a FW external HD.
Sorry to not be of much help in this matter. I'd do better to know what was
right about the computer, first hand; then work on what could make it run.
Usually an installation from the booted Tiger retail disc is straightforward.
Just hold down the C key on startup; or if an existing system is onboard,
use the Startup Disc system preference panel and start from the DVD.
(Or reset PRAM & NVRAM, and try booting from the install disc again.)
Hopefully someone with less tiresome hours on their mind can help you out.

I have a problem with the installation of Solaris 9 08/03 with the graphic card Intel 845 GV, because i choose in installation time a vesa graphic card or vga card (is not in list of compatible graphic cards) and probe it: i see ok the bitmap with 256 colurs and 800*600 and continue with the installation....
when restart the machine, after copy the microkernel in hd, start solaris, start GUI and i see a violet screen ( i can open a graphic terminal, push right button of mouse) but not see the installation program that install the software cds
My problem is i have not the driver and i dont know where install it in installation time, in case that i have the correct driver.

Well I too had the somewhat the same problems with Intel GBEV2 Motherboard. Infact, it did not install drivers for the builtin VGA. Well, I switched over to GeForce2 as it did support. If anyone has a solution, please do tell me too...

I have solved this problem :
1. Rename the keydb.xml. For exmaple rename to keydb.xml_bak.
2. You can see the keydb.1.xml, keydb.2.xml, keydb.3.xml, keydb.4.xml, etc. in the same folder.
3. You choose the biggest or latest .xml file. For example, you choose the keydb.3.xml.
4. The choosen file, keydb.3.xml, rename keydb.xml
5. You can reinstall.

Can't install Sol 9 on Ultra 20

Hi Folks,
I've acquired a Sun Ultra 20 that was previously running Windows 2003.
I'm trying to install Solaris 9 but when booting from the "Installation" CD I get the following messages...
WARNING: consconfig: could not find driver for screen device /pci@0,0/pci10de,5c@9/display@5
WARNING: Could not attach frame buffer to wscons, error 6
Can't find driver for console framebuffer At this point the installation appears to hang
I'm using the Solaris 9 for x86 CD's downloaded from Sun's website yesterday.
I'm using a standard VGA monitor & I believe the Ultra 20 has an ATI Rage XL Graphics adapter.
Anyone got any suggestions?

According to sunsolve the minimum version of solaris
supported on the ultra20 is solaris 10. Unless its an
ultra 20 m2 in which case you need solaris 10u2.OK.
Looks like I'll have to download Solaris 10.
