Installing the HP 812C Printer

A friend has and Acer Laptop running Windows Vista.  She is trying to attach her old printer, an HP 812C model.
So far we have tried to attach a USB cable from the printer to the laptop, but the computer doesn't recognize the printer.
Also installed the 812C driver that is resident in Windows Vista, still no luck.
The next step was to purchase a "parallel-to-USB" cable adapter.  That was attached to the existing parallel printer cable, and the USB end was plugged into the computer.  Still the computer (or VIsta) did not recognize the printer.
Is there anyway to successfully attach this printer to the new laptop?  Is there some special driver that HP has released to make the 812C compatible with VIsta?  Is there any walk around?
Thanks for any help.

The 812c might be partially installed from a previous attempt. Also don't use the USB to parallel converter as this printer has a USB connection and the converters rarely work.
First disconnect the printer from the PC. Click Start then click Control Panel and click on printers. If an 810 or 812 is listed in here right click on it and delete all instances you find. Also in control panel find either Uninstall Programs or Programs and Features. Open this and remove any instance of the 810 or 812 you see.
Restart the PC, turn the printer on and plug the USB cable in. A New Hardware Wizard should pop up. Have it automatically install the drivers.

  • How do I install The Lorax Daily Print Activities?

First, make sure your computer and printer meet the system requirements:
    Windows XP SP2 and above (32- and 64-bit), Windows Vista (32- and 64-bit), Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit)
    Connected printer
    Internet access
After that, installing The Lorax Daily Print Activities is easy and quick:
    Start at www.theloraxmovie.com.
Click on The Lorax Daily Print Activities, then click Download Now.
Click either Register and Continue Download or Continue Download.
If you see a security warning, click Yes to continue.
Click Run (depending on your browser), or Save to download and run the program.  After you click Run, or after you download the file and then double-click it to begin, the Setup Wizard opens.
Click Next. The License Agreement dialog opens.
Read the agreement, then select I Agree and click Next if you wish to continue. The Privacy Disclosure dialog opens.
Read the Privacy Disclosure and then click Next if you wish to continue. The Select Installation Folder dialog opens.
If you want to accept the default location (recommended), just click Next. Click Next again to begin the installation.
The Installation Complete dialog opens at the end of the installation process. Launch is pre-selected and will automatically launch the application when you close installation (you can uncheck if you want to launch at later stage). Click Close.

    Hi ProfMed,
Good question. Not sure if there is a good answer.
I'm not an expert on iPads, so don't know if it is possible. If you can meet the system requirements:
    Windows XP SP2 and above (32- and 64-bit), Windows Vista (32- and 64-bit), Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit)
    Connected printer
    Internet access
    Then it should work. Otherwise
    Best of luck,

  • Just installed the latest Canon printer software update (V 3.2) from the App store. Canon Pixma MX850 will not print. Dialog says job stopped at the server - no pages found. Utilities, print test page works. Printing via Airport.

Just installed the latest Canon printer software update (V 3.2) suggested by the App store in effort to get printer working after OS update. Canon Pixma MX850 will not print. Dialog says job stopped at the server - no pages found. Utilities, print test page works. Attempting to print via Airport from a MacBook Pro. Also from a Mac Pro via ethernet. Both worked before updating to Yosemite. Canon Pro 9000 Mk 2 works via USB. Tried installing driver 10.84 from OS 10.9 as suggested by PAHU; no luck.

The "stopped at server - no pages found" message would suggest an image with the print file that is created by the printer driver on the MacBook Pro. But if the Mac Pro is getting the same message then that is unusual.
To rule out a couple of causes I would try connecting the MacBook Pro directly to the MX850 by USB cable. This action should result in a new printer for the USB connection being created automatically. If not then you may need to manually create it as you won't be able to use the existing printer that exists for the network connection. With the new printer created see if this will let you print without error.
If this USB connected printer also fails with the same message then try a reset of the printing system. Note that this action will also remove the Pro 9000 from Printers & Scanners so you will have to add it and the MX850 again.

  • Can't install the Epson L355 printer

Hi, I can't install the Epson L355 printer because I get this message: "Can't install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server".  What can I do?
    Thanks!

What if you try deleting the /Library/Printer/EPSON and the/Library/Caches/Epson/folders and then reinstalling the updates?

  • How do I install the Universal Crossword Print Widget?

The Universal Crossword Print Widget has been discontinued, and there will be no new content. However, you can still receive the Universal Crossword printable by subscribing on your HP web-enabled printer’s front panel, or by visiting HPConnected.com (in the U.S.) or ePrintCenter.com (elsewhere). Note: You will need an HP web-enabled printer to subscribe.
Here’s how to uninstall the Print Widget:
    Click the Windows Start button.
    Click Control Panel.
    Click Uninstall a Product.
Select Universal Crossword Print Widget, then click Uninstall.

    Hi 57055:
First of all, there is no charge of any kind for the Universal Crossword widget or any of the content. Any charges you are seeing are not for this application or for the crossword - if you are seeing charges and think they are for this application, something is wrong. You should look into having those charges cancelled if you do not know what they are for.
Please run through the uninstall and reinstall steps one more time. The uninstall steps are very important - just deleting the icon, for instance, does NOT uninstall the program.
So, first, uninstall. Follow the steps here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/ePrint-Print-Apps-Mobile-Printing-and-ePrintCenter/How-do-I-un-install-...
Then reinstall, following the steps at the top of this thread (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/ePrint-Print-Apps-Mobile-Printing-and-ePrintCenter/How-do-I-install-the...)

  • I cannot see as installed the Acrobat Distriller Printer? (Acrobat X)

    Hello
In my list of printers, I cannot see the Adobe Acrobat X distriller printer as installed in my computer.
I have Adobe Acrobat Distriller X installed in my computer along with Adobe Acrobat X... however, when I go to control panel, and I select printers... I cannot see the Adobe PDF printer there.
I think the cause of this is that I installed a program called NITROPDF, and this program, managed to remove the Adobe Acrobat Distriller X printer, to install its own printer.
Now, in my list of printers, I can see the NITRO PDF Creator (which is the printer to print documents as PDF, that offers NitroPDF).
However, I cannot see in my list of printers the Adobe Acrobat Distriller X printer.
How may I do this printer be installed and available in my list of printers?
    Thanks

The problem was solved. The update, corrected the issue and now I see the printer again
    THANKS A LOT !!!

  • Can't install the CreatePDF Desktop Printer in Win7 x64

I can't seem to get the CreatePDF Desktop Printer to install in Windows 7 x64.  Is this a known issue?
I downloded the setup from 'Create PDF' button on my Acrobat.com account and used 'Run as administrator' to run the setup. IT seems to install fine (no errors) but the window to put in my user name and passwrod never appears (as it does in the How To video) and when the setup terminates, there is no Adobe printer in the Control Panel.

    Hi.

  • Just installed the new Brother printer updates through software update

Now both of my printers say:
"You need to install software to use this printer. To install the software, choose Software Update from the Apple menu. If the software for your printer isn’t available in Software Update, contact the manufacturer of your printer."
Tried rebooting and re-running software update. Everything is up to date but no change. Still no printing.

Dinking around with it for an hour, I came up with another solution also. Go to System Preferences>Print & Scan click the Options & Supplies button, click the Driver tab at the top, and reselect the correct driver for the printer.
It looks like the generic CUPS driver has been replaced by drivers called "Brother mmmmmm CUPS" where mmmmmm is the printer model, like MFC-7820N. Automatic software updates are not always automatic I guess.

  • Acrobat X does not install the Adobe PDF printer

When I try to install the Acrobat X on a Vista SP2 machine, the installation completed successfully but it does not create the Adobe PDF icon in the printers section.
This was not a problem earlier, but there were some microsoft patches and GPO updates which happened which may be causing this issue. I am not sure what change has caused this problem.
Any ideas on where to start the investigation would help.

you need to update to 8.1

    Hi Mary56,
If it is on your printer, it is not the widget, but a printer app. If it is on your computer, you have to uninstall the program (see directions at the top of this thread).
I will send a note to Jaime, who helps with printer apps and he will get back to you if this is a printer app. If it is, it will help if you tell us the printer model number.
Or, perhaps you can fix it yourself by checking out the instructions on this link:

  • I coud'nt install the software from cd for printer

i want to use the printer  , first i need to install the software for printer in mac  but i couldn't

If you are running 10.9 Mavericks or later, I believe it will try to find the Driver by itself.
If you are running 10.6.8, then it will not.
Try it, it will not break anything.
If it does not work, post your exact model Printer and version of Mac OS X, and Readers will be happy to try to find that Driver for you and post a link.
