Not sure if this is the right forum, as it might be a Vista thing?(feel free to move it). This seems a stupid question to have to ask but how to I install the Zen Micro software? I run the CD, the Creative window?opens up... and then just stays blank. I can't even close it without going to Task Manager at that point. The Micro thus is not being detected and near as I can tell, isn't charging. - I run Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit.- The USB port is fine. I've even run other MP3 players off it.- There was a note in the box warning me off QuickTime. Fine, I uninstalled it.- I've read other threads/sites with what sound like similar problems, but if I'm not mistaken, they involve Micros that have been setup and have been previously running on XP machines. I can't seem to update the firmware as the system is not detecting the player in the first place.- Could the CD just be a dud?What have I missed here?:smileyindifferent:?P.S The player was a gift, so there isn't much point in noting that the Mirco was not the best choice. Hi,
In this case you will need to upgrade the firmware on the Micro to support Vista. The player needs this to function as an MTP device which Vista supports.
You need the following files
Firmware
ZenMicroP4S_PCFW_L6_2_2_02.exe - the new firmware.
Optional
ZCST_PCAPP_LB_2_00_07.exe - ZenCast
CMS5_PCAPP_LB_5_0_38.exe - Creative MediaSource (for ripping CD's)
CMS5_MTP_PCAPP_LB_5_00_36.exe - Plugin for Creative Media Source for your Zen Micro.
So to proceed I'm afraid you'll have to install the player on an XP system (using the CD) in order to get it recognised and then using the new firmware to upgrade it. Once done you can then use this quite happily within Vista and Windows Media player (comes with Vista). If you want to use the Creative software download the three optional files above to complete the installation.

I installed the latest version of Firefox last night. It worked 3-4 times flawlessly. Now, it crashes at startup and gives me a box with crash detail report. How can I fix this?

I have a brand new HP dv8t laptop that is straight from the manufacturer 2 days ago.
Last night, I attempted to download and installed the latest version of Firefox. After installing, it worked great for an hour or so (3.4 different sessions).
Then, this morning when I came back to the computer, Firefox crashes at startup and gives me the option of finding a solution online or quitting the program.
How aggravating!
I have installed this same version on 2 other computers that I own, without any issue.
I have attempted to uninstall Firefox from the dv8 and reinstalling, to no avail.
I cannot find the crash report, but I do this see this message once the app crashes:

You might try using the add-on 'NoSquint' which allows numerous zoom options specific to each page you visit & keeps your settings - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nosquint/

In most cases you can simply "upgrade" (meaning downgrade) directly from the installation. It would be a good idea to save your passwords & bookmarks just to be on the safe side.

When I am installing 'SAP NetWeaver Suite'the below error came, can someone help me out on this below error?
MOS-01011 'C:\usr\sap\BWI\SYS\exe\run/sapstartsrv.exe' returned with '-1'.
The J2EE server is up unrunning @ the installing the Netweaver ABAP Instance I got this error.
For the user BWI it has the Administrator previlages i checked so many time but I am unable to get it.
Please help me out the error.

HT1222 I installed the most recent ITunes update after which Itunes no longer worked.. I received an error message Error 7 Windows 193. I did a system restore to eliminate the update.

Apple support had not responded to my requests for clarification. The update corrupted both ITunes and Office Outlook mobileme. The error message when I tried to start up I Tunes was Error 7 Windows 193. I un installed I Tunes and re installed the latest ver and encountered the same error message. I finally did a system restore. Was this a one time problem or is the update bad. In over 30 years I'd never had a problem with any Apple update.

I received the new update from Itunes and after installing, I couldnt get into my Itunes. I get a message from Windows saying that an MC file is missing and to reinstall I tunes. I have reinstalled 3 times, the first time I didn't remove the old version, I installed the update over it. Next I tried the repair function under Control Panel. After that, I uninstalled Itunes and reinstalled again from the website. I still get the same message about missing files from Windows.

Because I was having problems with my 2006 MBP 15 " - sudden freezing up, I tried several ways of fixing it all without success.
Eventually, I was forced into erasing the 500 GB harddrive completely using DU from the install disks (Tiger) that came with it
and had hoped I could re-install the system afresh from the original disks.
On start up all I get is the "Welcome page" again and it repeats itself continually. If i select any thing the spinning beach ball
occurs and a forced shutdown is required.
Everytime I do an install, I get to a "welcome page" and go thru the usual entering of details etc. but every time after I get to
clicking on "continue", when setting up ownership/address, I get a spinning beachball and can get no further.

I've tried starting up from an external drive with a firewire cable, but again nothing constructive happens, but I do get a popup saying

It seems to me that whatever I do on the MBP I get the spinning ball and no further - even leaving it for a couple of hours -

The external drive is a bootable one done with SuperDuper.
I am able to do a startup with it but then I get that window saying home folder is missing etc.
Surely i should be able to install the Op/System using the original disks that came with it, or will they only work if there is something on the H/D to start with. I completely erased it to start withj.
I've just found an Install disk for Tiger I bought in 2006 - perhaps that might work or not.

Thank you doesn't say it strongly enough, but THANK YOU b noir and Lorraine for your help. I was to the boiling point last night and starting to get there tonight. Now I am resting easy and thankful that there is a community of computer users out there who care enough to troubleshoot problems together and work together to figure out a solution--and then to take the time to post and share information.
I would STRONGLY suggest that anyone who is having the iTunes issues where iTunes just plain won't open at all after downloading the newest version and has a pc with Norton Internet Security 2005 try the "Lorraine Method."
I am so happy I think I might sing. Or not--I will let my songs on iTunes do the singing for me now that I can again!!!!!!!
And to those still looking for answers--be patient--I now know how incredibly frustrating this can be and I hope that you all find your solutions very very soon!!

Basically i just want to know 3 things: What exactly does consolidating the itunes library do? Can i copy, paste, and transfer my itunes library to an external and from there to a new pc? Will i be able to transfer my itunes library without consolidating the files?

I have found a temporary solution, allowing the previous version of iTunes (v. 11.1.3 (x64) in my case) to be re-installed. It will allow you to re-establish use of iTunes until the Apple software engineers fix the most recent disasterous upgrade (v. 11.1.4). Yes, the hard drive needs to be formatted and OS X must then be installed.
Drive Partition and Format
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
7. Quit Disk Utility and return to the installer. Proceed with the OS X installation.
It's only a lost cause when nothing else works.

Hold down the Option key while you boot your Mac. Then, it should show you a selection of devices. Click your flash drive and it will boot from that.

You can manually download the Combo update if in doubt of the integrity of the OS 10.9.5
install on top of what you have, backups are always a good idea.

DVD player 5.4 keeps crashing using a variety of DVDs. I have OS 10.6.8, and have repaired permissions, verified the disc, and installed the 10.6.8 update combo. Several previous questions have adressed this problem. What is the solution?

DVD player 5.4 keeps crashing. I have seen here that a number of other people have had this problem. I recently started one DVD, and when I went back to it, it opened to a black screen twice. It also crashes with other DVDs after I scroll ahead or back. It gives an error message that it is skipping damaged areas, or sometines error 69889. Playing this on a PC, however, there is no problem. I repaired the permissions, verified the disc, and installed the OS 10.6.8 combo update, all to no avail. Techs told me that it is usually the hardware, so I bought a LaCie external combo drive. Still crashes. Looked on Apple downloads and they don't list a 5.4 to replace this version. Mac informer.com offers a free download for DVD 5.5- should I try this? Why doesn't Apple fix this problem?

Would installing another copy of DVD 5.4 help? How can I get another copy of DVD player 5.4, since Apple does not seem to offer it? I do have the disc for Snow Leopard, but am not extremely tech savy (and maybe it is the same corrupted version).
