Installing third party drivers not in instr.lib

Hi,
(LabVIEW 2013 SP1)
We are using LabVIEW to develop on multiple stations and we use source code control application to control the version and compatibility of the VI's.
We are using many third party (not NI) instruments and we "install" their drivers at -
C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2013\instr.lib
This creates some difficulties since this folder is external with respect to the SCC application so this resource is not version controlled, whether someone downloads a different version or one add/changes another feature.
It will be easier also to copy the development folder from one computer to the other.
1. Is it possible to change the default behavior of LabVIEW Environment to load drivers to the Intrument Drivers palette?
2. What do you recommend ?
Amitai.

There are a few options here for you.
1. Just put the drivers in your project folder and edit them to look at their new location instead of instr.lib.  That should be just a matter of loading them and resolving the conflicts.
2. Use VIPM to make packages of the drivers and then everybody can install the packages.  This way they know what version is getting installed.
There are only two ways to tell somebody thanks: Kudos and Marked Solutions

  • Install third-party drivers in 3.2

    Hi all,
after (clean) installing SQLDev 3.2, I'm unable to add third-party drivers in the automated way (from Tools/Prefs/Ext/Check for up):
    - tried (multiple times) with MSS and MySQL drivers,
    - pop-up window (licenc-agrement) appears and
    - nothing else happens.
Checking the <profile>\SqlDev mappa shows a dir named "temp\update" has just created and it contains the expected files (eg. oracle.sqldeveloper.thirdparty.drivers.sqlserver.58.17.zip) with 0 bytes.
    Any idea?
    OS: Win7(x64), Java(TM) Platform     1.7.0_09, Oracle SQL Developer 3.2.20.09 Build MAIN-09.87.
(Manual installation of this drivers works fine.)
    Thanx,
    M. Zsolt.

    Thanks,
I guess there is some problems with the update center: drivers also cannot be installed with JDK 1.6.37 and other extensions install normally.
    BTW:
SQLDev works quite well with JDK1.7 (at least, I didn't find any "big" errors, some minor bugs are out there, of course),
moreover, it works also with MySQL-connector-5.1.22 :) - even though it's stated in the Rel.notes: "Do not use the latest MySQL driver 5.1. Use the 5.0.x drivers for MySQL."

  • Installed third party applications not showing Application folder?

    Hi,
i've installed third party application outside from AppStore. i chosen "Anywhere" option on Gate keeper. however its not proper installation process hence how can i install? if i install third party application which is get .DMG file from some one else and installed. if i install those application its not displaying inside the Application folder on my Mac OS X 10.8.3.
    Please anyone suggest me,
    Thanks in Advance,
    Suresh Balakrishnan.

if i double click on Xcode icon, Xcode application lauched immediatly. however Xcode is not there in the Application folder.
Because you didn't drag and drop copy the app into the Applications folder, so your running it from the DMG instead.
A DMG is basically a disk image volume, like any other seperate hardware volume like a USB thumb drive, a external hard drive, or another partition, except it's virtual and based all in software.
If you don't know your way around a computer you shouldn't be using Xcode to begin with.

  • How to install third-party SSD as boot disk in MacPro 5,1

I had so much trouble with this that I thought I'd post a recipe that others could follow.
The first thing you should know is that it's not possible to get a non-Apple SSD recognized in a sled slot of a MacPro 5,1.  It just doesn't see them at all, even if (as some suggested) previously partitioned as a GUID partition (which works in a MacBook Pro, but not a MacPro 5,1).  This is true even with the most up-to-date EFI firmware.  You're going to have to use a PCIe adapter card.
The next thing you should know is that not all PCIe SATA3 SSD adapter cards are bootable on a MacPro 5,1.  For instance, even though the Sonnet Tempo SSD is advertised as working for a boot drive in a Mac Pro, it actually works in any Mac Pro *except* the 5,1.  In a 5,1 drives on the card do not work as boot drives, either with option boot or if you select it as the startup drive after booting from something else.  Also, EFI boot is extended by about a minute -- not the end of the world, but an annoyance.  The Tempo card does work well for add-on drives, its very fast.  I am pretty sure the Tempo Pro variant of the card also does not work, as the Sonnet support guys told me that they have to use use rEFIt for booting 5,1 MacPros in their lab.  I imagine if the Pro worked they would have pointed me at that instead.  (Note that rEFIt has been superseded by rEFInd, http://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/.  I didn't try using rEFIt or rEFInd because I found a better way, but if you want to dual-boot to Linux those utilities are apparently Da Bomb.)
An Apricorn Velocity x2 Duo card *will* boot, and does not have a long EFI boot delay.  That card is a little more expensive than the Tempo SSD (but not the Tempo Pro SSD) but it works properly.  It's worth the extra money, especially since it's the only card I could find that explicitly claimed to work as a boot drive on a 5,1 MacPro.  And it does.
One caveat: With the Tempo SSD the SSD drives were invisible until repartitioned in GUID format, which also happens if you try to use a third-party SSD inside a Macbook Pro.  I found that I could repartition one drive, a Crucial MX500 960GB, using a run-of-the-mill USB SATA2 adapter.  Unfortunately this solution did not work with a Samsung Evo 1TB drive, I had to use an external USB3 enclosure.  Moreover, the enclosure supported both FireWire and USB3 but FireWire did not work.  This FireWire issue might be due to the super-cheap enclosure I was using, so YMMV, but keep in mind that it's possible that you'll need either a USB3 expansion card in the MacPro, or a different Mac, to perform the initial repartition to GUID format.
It's possible that SSDs would be visible on the Velocity card even before repartitioning, I don't know as both of my drives had been repartitioned prior to trying the Velocity.  So, it might work ... but you might need to partition externally.
I don't know if pre-partitioning is necessary with the Velocity card, as I only ever tried pre-partitioned drives with it.  If you try the Velocity and the drive isn't seen, that's the problem and you'll have to use an external SATA adapter of some sort to repartition before installing on the Velocity card.
After partitioning the drive and installing on the Velocity card, it worked fine.  Yosemite installed properly and with reboot it blazed.
Next up, TRIM support.  For some reason known only to Apple, the Apple AHCI driver refuses to enable TRIM support for anything other than Apple drives.  It's possible that there are or were bugs in some of the early SSDs and Apple is just playing it safe, although I would have preferred to have the option to enable TRIM or not if that's the case.  Unfortunately there is no such option, you have to use a substitute AHCI driver.
Unfortunately if you're using Yosemite you cannot use a substitute driver without disabling kext extensions, because Apple will not sign anyone else's driver (at least not at the time of this writing).  That's unfortunate, I would prefer to have signed extensions if I could, but realistically speaking you're no worse off in terms of security than you were with Mavericks so it's not the end of the world.  With a little luck Apple will either start supporting TRIM on third-party drives or starts signing third-party drivers sometime in the future.
So: Before you can start TRIMming drives, you first need to run this command, or something like it:
    sudo nvram boot-args=“kext-dev-mode=1”
I rather like seeing the boot process, rather than just the Apple logo, so I use this:
    sudo nvram boot-args=“-v kext-dev-mode=1”
I tried both Trim Enabler (http://www.cindori.org/software/trimenabler/) and Chameleon SSD Optimizer (http://chameleon.alessandroboschini.com/).  As of this writing the Chameleon driver is more up-to-date, and comes with some additional utilities that are pretty nice.  Take your pick, though, both worked fine in my experiments.
With a TRIM-enabled AHCI driver, kext signing disabled, a Velocity card, and your favorite SSD you are in business.
The only weird thing after all of this is that non-boot SSDs on the Velocity card (or on the Tempo) are ejectable.  As far as I can determine there’s no way to mark them as non-ejectable.  That’s a minor annoyance compared to the performance you get out of the SSD, though.
Because, with this stuff in there, yowza is the MacPro 5,1 a fast machine.  You Will Like It.  Enjoy!

    Then you should read these.

    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1795765
I think your problems were solvable and not that the Sonnet card and 5,1 is not bootable, in fact the 5,1 is easier, there are more supported cards.
I have the 1,1 where the Sonnet Pro is recommended but for data only and are not bootable because of the 32-bit EFI firmware. NOT the 4,1 and 5,1. The 2008's are problem child and have a mix of PCIe 1.1 slots, first implementation of EFI64 that also has problems. Also the 4,1 has two PCIe 2.x slots 3 and 4 that share a controller but that simply limits bandwidth.
I would have left the TRIM support and NVRAM changes in Yosemite to a separate thread if you wanted to focus on the Sonnet Tempo Pro support in Mac Pro 2010-12 5,1s.
Also the make of SSD can vary and they also have their own firmware as do bootable controllers along with the EFI of the Mac, all of which have to work together.  Meaning it might be that Samsung 840 va 840 EVO vs 840 Pro will all be slightly different but my experience is Samsungs work well (as do others like Crucial with the proper firmware - and there was/is an issue with the firmware of the Samsung 840 but not with booting).
The PCIe card gets seen and treated as external and therefore 'eject' but of course you can't when it is the system boot drive.
One thing I found last week and meant to mention:  After installing or changing PCIe cards, RESET SMC made all the difference in the world with the long boot delay. Some PCIe cards will add a few seconds, system has to search the device tree which now shows another controller with multiple devices - and sometimes NVRAM and SMC are what I will call "dirty" and need to be rebuilt and reset.

  • Problems installing third party software on Mountain Lion.

I received message "Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers."  Where is this security setting so I can change it to be able to install third party software? "
    Thank you in advance.

Open the Security & Privacy preferences. Click on the General tab. At the bottom you will find your Gatekeeper settings. Click on the lock icon and authenticate so you can change the selection. If software does not have a developer's signature in it then the software will not be installed until you change the selection to "Anywhere."

  • When installing third party software, how do I temporarily turn off the factory installed virus sw and firewall?

when installing third party software, how do I temporarily turn off the factory installed virus sw and firewall?  Is it necessary on a Mac to do so?  I come from the Windows world and am still in the learning curve on the Mac.

Correct.  I have not installed ANY other software for anti-virus, etc.  I want to install a Synch app for my HTC phone to sych with MS Outlook 2011 installed on my Mac.    HTC will not synch with it otherwise.  That was really the basis for my question....if installing a non Apple app can be done without messing with factory settings on the Mac.  In Windows I remember that I needed to disable Norton and the Firewall in order for installation to occur.
    Thanks.

  • Installing Third Party Audio Units

Wonder if anybody can help. I have just bought a G5 Dual 2.3 and Logic Pro 7.1 I can not find any way of "installing" third party plug ins. I have checked the ones I have ( Waves Platinum for AU for OSX ) and they are valid for Logic 7. I have put several plugs in Applications , but they are not even appearing in Logic Audio Units Manager. Im probably missing something really simpe here. Im also having the same type of problem trying out "demo" versions of some new AU instruments e.g. X treme FX and MOTU MX4 Soft Synth ( that is appearing in Audio Unit Manager but will not open, so maybe its not valid for Logic yet?) Pleeeeeeease Help. Thanks. Paul

    Hey Paul & Welcome!
I don't quite understand what you mean when you say you can not find a way of "installing".
You should have installers for your AU's. If you doubleclick one of those, it should take you through the installation process. Apologies if this is what you have done, but I become a little suspicious when you say you have "put several plugs in your Applications folder". This is sometimes the right procedure when it comes to installing certain applications (e.g. Reason), but rarely or never the case with plug ins. You need an installer.
Now, If indeed you have gone through the installation process, it is still possible that the plug in question won't show up as available. As you rightly point out, it may be rejected by Logics AU Manager.
    Check in your following folders:
    HD/Library/Audio/Plug Ins/Components
    and,
    Home/Library/Audio/Plug Ins/Components
wich is were your AU's are supposed to be located.
If they are not there, they are not installed. If they are there, they should be scanned by AU Manager and be validated or refuted.
When you have checked the folders, you can open Logic and run AU Manager and check the status of your installed AU's. The ones that have failed or crashed can still be selected by checking the little box, with the risk of making Logic unstable. You will indeed get a warning every time you open logic, telling you how many failed AU's you're currently running.
So, check for installers, check your component folders and cross reference with the AU manager.
Again, sorry if this is at a beginner level for you, I could not quite make out where you're at.
    Good Luck!
    Erik

  • Unable to install third party effects/titles. Missing folders in Motion Template.

Hi. I am unable to install third-party titles/effects/generators in FCP X version 10.2. I navigate to my Movies/Motion Templates folder and there are no subfolders in there. I created new ones labeled "Titles", "Generators", etc and placed the complete folder of the third party effects in the appropriate subfolder, but the effects do not show up in FCP X. I am on a managed laptop and do not have Administrative control. I am wondering if because I have a user profile with limited installation control, could that be affecting my ability to add the effects or is there something else that is wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Preferences do get corrupted rather often, and deleting them is usually one of the first thing one tries whenever something strange happens in FCP X.
How exactly did you delete the preferences? The current method of choice is by holding down the command and option keys when starting the application and then confirming when the dialog box comes up.
I have not tried running FCP X from a non admin user account. Whether this could be the issue, I can't say.
Can you post screenshots of a Finder window, in column view, showing the folder structure inside Motion Templates?

  • Third Party Drivers needed!

Sometimes I hate upgrading my OS, because of all the things that stop working after EVERY upgrade.
I have been using Macs since '84 and Mac OS 4.1, and every time I upgrade, some hardware and software stop working after the upgrade.
Sometimes it is major, like going from OS 6 to OS 7, or OS 7 to OS 8 and of course every major version of OS X.
Part of problem is getting upgraded drivers for OS X, and some times I can go to the product manufacturer for new drivers, but not always.
Where can I go for Third Party Drivers when the product manufacturer doesn't want to make them?
Is there someplace that has lots of Third Party Drivers for printers, scanners and keyboards, Etc?
I have stuff that still works fine in OS 9 but not in OS X. Like a UMAX Astra 3400 scanner, and other things that work OK, but I can't access utilities like a HP desk-jet 895 Cxi printer.
I don't want to have to buy all new hardware every time I upgrade the software, so I don't rush out and get the latest upgrades until they have been around for awhile.
It would be nice to have somewhere to go for all these problems, as well as when I buy a new piece of hardware and it doesn't come with needed Mac drivers at all.
    Any ideas here?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The problem occurs just as much because products get discontinued as drivers becoming outdated. However, many open source companies are making drivers now. I would check my FAQ:
    http://www.macmaps.com/macosxnative.html
To find out if any of your devices have available updates.
And note when updating only to do so when you absolutely need to do so. Reasons for need are usually software and hardware which improve your productivity that are only available on new hardware, or inability to find older hardware when your previous machine dies. As long as you backup your data before any updates, software issues should be minimal as my FAQ explains since you'll be able to restore your backup if an upgrade messes up your drivers:

Please help me to how can I install on the machine. I also need to create a new certificate but when I tried to add it shows an error message like this.

Can anybody please help me to what should be the next step.
And how can I install third party certificate.
    Thanks in advance.

There is a product called VolumeWorks that is supposed to do this. I looked at the demo, but I could not get it to see the extra space so I ended up backing it all up and erasing the Raid and doing a block copy with Carbon Copy Cloner.

  • Installing 3rd Party Drivers

Is it possible to install 3rd party drivers during a Safe Boot?
    If so, is it better?
I'm having trouble with drivers loading sometimes, and other times not ... seems to be having problems "around" "Login Window".
I use auto Login on Startup and Restarts.
Wondering if this could be a "when and where of installation" issue.
Guessing ... apologies for being vague ... particulars can be found on M-Audio's site Forum (if you're really interested):
    http://forums.m-audio.com/showthread.php?t=3856
Stumped again ... this is a new replacement PCI audio card.

I got a Rev B Replacement card from M-Audio. It behaved the same way as before under 10.5.6, until I ran AppleJack.
I believe that cleared up the problems: M-Audio's v2.0.8 drivers don't install properly under 10.5.6... As I understand things, Ownership and Permissions need to be changed, and caches needed to be rebuilt. AppleJack under auto pilot did this relatively fast ... compared to how long its taken to arrive at a solution ...
Read more on my woes and Solution (page 5) at:
    http://forums.m-audio.com/showthread.php?t=3856&page=5
    Also replaced the PRAM battery.
Up and running fine to date with the Sonnet Tango USB/FW and Rosewill NIC PCI cards alongside.
Perhaps AppleJack could solve other 3rd parties driver's installation woes?

  • Third party applications not working

So I had to get a new pearl the other day and everything is the same, but had to redownload my third party apps (like tsn, cnn, etc.). none of them work, they just say redirecting and then waiting and never go to the site,  but if I go to that applications website through the browser it works. I figure something in my settings is incorrect for the third-party apps not to work? tried a few different things but nothing seems to help.
    can anyone (please) help?

What does it say if you go to About This Mac -> More Info -> Graphics & Displays -> Pixel Depth
    1: Try resetting the PRAM.
2: Go to System Preferences -> Displays -> Color -> Select another profile or calibrate
3: Go to System Preferences -> Universal Access -> Slide the Contrast bar all the way to the left
Might end up just being a plist to snag though.
