Installing TREX for Netweaver Sneak Preview2004s SP9

Hello,
I installed Netweaver Sneak Preview 2004S SP9. In the description of the download package TREX is mentioned. But it did not install. I found Thread TREX in EP? where a file SAPNW2004sJavaSP9_TREX.rar is mentioned. Does anybody know how to the download this file, rsp. how to install TREX for Netweaver Sneak Preview 2004S SP9?

I just checked this morning and the link now points to the SAPNetWeaver04_SP16Preview_TREX6116P2 rar file. I had downloaded that file back on 6/7/07 but it would not work. It would quit at the question asking for an instance to apply the hot fix, so I am guessing that it is only a maintenance release.
I have not re-downloaded it since they fixed the link.
However, I eventually found a download of TREX 6.1 on the SAP Software Distribution Center site found here:

Search for 51030611. I was able to load that successfully.

TREX for NetWeaver 7.0 Java (2004s) SP9 not found - Not in FTP site.

The Sneak Preview for Java 7.0 shows a TREX file for download. However the file is not there. Is this a known issue? We are looking forward to using the trial, but without searching and classification, we cannot research the best way to implement our DMS.

Can I use 6.40 version sca's to Install NWDI for Netweaver 2004s SP14?

Hi,
I have installed Netweaver 2004s Java SP14 and wanted to install NWDI. I know I can use the sca's for Web AS 7.0 such as CMS, CBS, DTR. But I don't have those files right now, but I do have the three NWDI files JBUILDTOOL, OFFLINE,ONLINE sca files for 6.40.
My Question to the experts is can I use the Web AS 6.40 components for NWDI Netweaver 7.0?
I know I can easily deploy the sca files onto SDM, but is there any effect on post-installation process?

you can use those sca files.
But is there any point in doing that when 7.0 SCAs are available.
It will eventually create problem when in future you want to upgrade your NWDI. As of now 6.40s are totally outdated, and some for 7.1s are also available.
so it will be better to download 7.0s from market place and install it.

Installing SAP NetWeaver 2004s SR2 (SP9)

Has anyone installed the SAP NetWeaver 2004s SR2 (SP9)
which is in the download section. I tried to install but its throwing exceptions after I gave the j2eadmin user and SAPService user. Has anyone else experienced this problem? The error is something like invalid user exception. I thought i can give any name there but its not accepting any names there.
I'm installing on Windows XP professional Service Pack 2.

That note doesnt apply to me. And I didnt find any thing in PI Installtion guide.
So far i was not able to install successfully any of the netweaver systems given in the downloaded section. Not sure what am I missing.

Problem in installin SAP Netweaver Sneak Preview

While trying to install the SAP netweaver sneak preview I got this error at the second step of the installation SAP System installation..
"An error occured while processing service sneak preview edition of SAP web application server java 6.4 install sap web application server java 6.4
you may now
press retry to repeat the current step.
press view log to get more information.
stop the task and continue with it later.
reset your input for the current task .in this case SAPinsti will permenantely remove all installation files from the installation directory. This gives you the oppurtunity to start from scratch."
Can someone kindly guide me as to what to do..
(1)when I pressed retry I again got the same screen.
(2)when I pressed reset and again started from scratch I again got the same error.

Hi,
Try the installation after starting all the services of the DB. For example if you have used Oracle as the underlying DB, make sure that the important Oracle Services like OracleOraHome92Agent, OracleOraHome92TNSListener and OracleServiceJ2E are in Started status.
If some other DB, start its services. To start the services go to start - Settings - control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services.

TREX for XI

Hi friends,
Iam just wondering if anbody can tell if TREX installation is useful for XI?
I saw many people using it for EP, so I'm just curious to know how far is it useful to install TREX for XI?

Hi Sikora -
The main benefit for TREX use in XI comes when you need to do payload content based searches of messages. For example, say you process thousands of messages through the XI server in a given time frame (e.g. hour or day, etc.). Within these messages you need to look for a particular message with PO # 123456 for example. Without TREX, it would pretty painful looking for this message since the standard message monitoring parameters are not based on the message content (since the payload content is completely arbitrary). This is where TREX would come in.

This is something related to your anti virus software like norton.Please trun off Norton while Installing SAP and also make sure that the Id which you use to install SAP has administrator rights.

Proxy settings for installing TREX

hi all
while installing TREX server it is asking following settings
Proxy Server Name
 Proxy Server Port
 Proxy User Name
Proxy User Password
is the above settings are mandatory for installing TREX if so,wht info i've to give there and where do i get the reuired info.
can anybody help me out in this

Hi,
Its not mandatory to specify the proxy settings during the installation. These settings are used by the trex for those sites which cannot be accessed directly without going through a firewall. For e.g to access the internet in your office there will be a firewall through which you get access to the internet.If you have a web repository which is an internet site for example CNN.com and your office network has a firewall without which you cannot access the site. Then you need to specify the proxy settings. There are two places you can define this, one is in the Web Repository itself and the other is in the Preprocessotr.ini as Florin said. Because if the TREX cannot get a response from the site then it won't be able to index the repository.

is SAP NetWeaver Sneak Preview must be installed on system hard disc(eg. c:/)
during the installation, i can't find the option to select setup location.
if system hard disc is essential, i'm afraid i need to merge my discs.

Is it possible to install
SAP NetWeaver 7.02 SP9 64 bit Application Server ABAP Trial Version
under my JRE-version?

Dear Frank,
In case of ABAP only server JDK is required by sapinst to install the system so i think it should work for you.
If you are able to start sapinst then you can install Netweaver ABAp server.

How to use TREX in Netweaver Portals

I am new to TREX and i installed TREX 7.0 with Netweaver 2004's java edition and performed Post Configuration for Java client HTTP settings.
Now i am unable how to use TREX in Portals for searching the documents in KM.
Can any one help me how to use the TREX for searching the documents in Km if possible plz attach the screen shots.

Hi Phani,
You can test your TREX server by executing the following step:
Log on to your TREX server and open up the TREX console which you can find in the TREX program folder. Normally you are now inside the python_support folder.
Execute the following script by typing: "python runInstallationText.py" and hit Enter.
The script carries out the following tests:
● Deleting any test indexes that were generated for a previous script run
● Creating a test index
● Indexing documents
● Testing search functions
● Exact, error-tolerant (fuzzy), and linguistic searches
● Search using Boolean operators such as AND and OR
The results are displayed at the end of the script run. You see the tested calls and their statuses (OK or Failed).
When you run the script for the first time, the call Delete Index has the status Failed. This is because there was no existing text index to be deleted. If this is the only cell with the status Failed, the test was successful.
Below you will see the final output generated by the test script. As stated near the bottom of this screenshot our TREX is running very well or not if there is a problem.

Problems Installing SAP Web AS - (Sneak Preview Edition)

I am coming across this frustrating problem when I attempt to install SAP Web AS - J2EE System.
I am:
-logged in as the local Administrator on a Windows 2000 server (SP4)
-I have installed SQL 2000 Server Enterprise
-I have patched SQL to 3A
-I have installed the Microsoft QFE
-I have installed the corrected Collation.
Towards the beginning of the installation; the install stops with the error:

Thanks I solved the password problem differently , after I had tried using different passwords in vain, I selected the second installation option other than "Local Install". Then I unistalled, then reinstalled with "Local Installation" option that prompted me for new passwords.
The installation was almost 98% complete, but jcontrol.exe could not start up, I have already logged that error here, so I unistalled and now trying hard to rinstall, but some how MAXDB is stuck in my registry, I have tried to remove it using Contrl Panel -> Add Remove programs in vain, I deleted SAPDB from the hard drive, I went to the Local Machine in the regedit32.exe tried to remove anything to do with SAP because I could not see anything else to do with MAXDB or Xserver but I am still getting the error:-

Problem installing Trex 7.0on NW2004s SR1

Dear friends,
Iam trying to install Trex 7.0on NW2004s SR1(Red Hat Linux 4.0).
1st time When I tried to install Trex 7.0on NW2004s SR1: on 2nd screen when it asked me to give the location of Trex CD then by mistake I gave the location of Trex 7.0 SR2 instead of Trex 7.0 SR1 thats why system thew some error & then I stoped the installation.After that I got the correct CD & again started the installation by running the sapinst file with command ./sapinst but this time it was showing me the following error on 1st screen itself instead of asking for the Trex 7.0 CD.

Why do i need to do the post installtion of the trex ""Configuring TREX" for sld"?

If you are installing any component of 'NetWeaver', you should register it with Central SLD server of your landscape.
Same case with Trex too, that's why you have that post installation step there. However, it is not a 'Mandatory' step which needs to be done immediately after installation. But in future, you might require this. So you may proceed to do it after proper understanding of what is an 'SLD' even !
This step itself tells it's purpose as seen from below help page
