Installing two versions of AI

Hi,
I currently have AI CS5 and I was looking into upgrading to AI CS6. The thing is I'd like to keep a copy of my cs5 on the same machine and have CS6 installed as well. What would be the right way to do this and is this possible?   This is a win7 machine with 16 gigs of RAM and I have tons of space too.
Any hints appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks for replying but that doesn't answer my question. And no I wouldnt like subscription and rather would just buy it once and for all. But is it possible to install two versions on the same machine, will there be any conflicts and is there  a step by step tutorial on how to accomplish this?
thanks

  • I have just downloaded Photoshop CC and found it installed two versions.

I am using Adobe Creative Cloud.  I have just downloaded Photoshop CC and found it installed two versions. I beleive the 32 bit version and the 64 bit version.  Is there a reason it has installed two versions?  Can I remove one version as I am running a Windows 8.1 64 bit machine?

I don't know if my issue is the same or not...
I  updated Photoshop CC last week, and  now have Photoshop CC and Photoshop CC 2014 in my applications folder. When I open a file created in Photoshop, it opens Photoshop. However, if I open another Photoshop file (by double-clicking on it), it opens up in a second Photoshop app (not the app that's already open)... so I have two Photoshops open at the same time. And both are CC versions.

Is there a way to install two versions of the driver and run both cameras at once without conflict? Please advise what to do since I would like to use these cams.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Can I install two versions of SOA suite using same Oracle database

    Condition:
I installed Weblogic server(10.3.5) and SOA Suite(11.1.1.5), and
I used RCU 11.1.1.5 to create the schemas(Oracle DB 11g-111170) for it.
    Plan:
Now I plan to install another Weblogic server(10.3.6) and SOA Suite (11.1.1.6)
and I will used RCU 11.1.1.6 to create the schemas for it.
    Question:
Can I use same database(Oracle DB 11g-111170) for the two versions of SOA Suite? that is
Can I Run the RCU 11.1.1.6 to create the schemas for SOA Suite (11.1.1.6) on the oracle database server I already used for SOA Suite 11.1.1.5?
If I can use same database for the two versions of SOA Suite, how can I resolve schame name conflict?

    Hi
    1. YES. You can absolutely use SAME DB to have multiple Versions of SOA Schemas.
    2. Any SOA/BPM will need basically 4/5 schemas like SOAINFRA, MDS, ORABAM, ORASDPM etc. based on what you choose. And each of these Schemas can be Prefixed. Default prefix is like DEV, so schemas are like DEV_SOAINFRA, DEV_MDS etc
    3. Very Simple. When you Run RCU 11.6 and give the same old db details, in next screen it will automatically show the new Prefix for the schemas it will create. If DEV is used, it will show DEV1 like that. So just choose a Different Prefix and you are good to go.
I have the same thing on my side. Single Database. Multiple RCU for SOA 11.5 and SOA 11.6 with different Prefixes:
    SOA 11.5 -> DEV115_SOAINFRA, DEV115_MDS, DEV115_ORABAM etc
    SOA 11.6 -> DEV116_SOAINFRA, DEV116_MDS, DEV116_ORABAM etc
I Used the Prefixes like DEV115, DEV116 so that I know exactly which version of RCU schema they refer to.
For QC, UAT, PROD we used prefixes like QC_*, UAT_*, PROD_* etc.
NOTE: When you drop the schemas for some reason, make sure to give the appropriate prefixes so that only they are dropped and not others.
    Thanks

  • Install two versions of final cut studio

Hi, can I Install two different versions of Final Cut Studio, and let them coexist without the previous one being erased? Let's say I have Final Cut Studio installed, and I want to Install Motion 3 that comes with Final Cut Studio 2, but keep the previous versions of the other programes. Is that possible, or the installing of Motion 3 will affect the Final Cut Pro and other applications that I had installed?

You could also do a dual boot system, though on a MacBook Pro, it may not work, due to limitations of single internal system drive.
Not sure what capacity your current system drive has...and you'd really want to think this through before committing.
You'd essentially do a full archive of your current system drive, then a full erase, create 2 partitions with one running FCS1 and the other running FCS2. You'd likely need to place 'extra content' on an external (like for Motion/STPro/DVDSP/LiveType), to keep resources to a minimum on your system drive.
Frankly, I'd be hesitant to go that route, but thought I'd toss it out there.
Ian's suggestion looked much better to me.

  • Install two versions of Safari on the same Mac?

Is it possible to install two different versions of Safari on the same Macintosh? It looks like we'll need to test for both Safari 1.x and Safari 2.x. Or will we need to use two different computers?

One poster has said he had both Safari 1.2 and Safari 2.0.x running on the same machine under OS X 10.4.x, and another poster said he could not install Safari 1.2 under OS X 10.4.4. So I don't know if its possible or not. Even if you do get both installed, you may not see all of the differences you would in running Safari 1.2 or 1.3 under OS X 1.3.x and Safari 2.x under OS X 10.4 because if both are running under the same version of OS X, then both are using the same underlying Webcore technology. Some differences would still be apparent. The person who claimed to have both versions installed claimed that Safari 1.2 worked with some site he needed to use while Safari 2.x did not.

  • I can't install two versions of indesign together !!!

    Hello Folks.
    How are you?
I installed Indesign CS4 but when I installed Indesign CS6, both versions are expired !!!. What is the problem?
    I use Windows 7 64 bit .
    Cheers.

Did you enter the serial numbers when you installed? Did you deactivate the old installations first?
I think this error message is telling you that the program is not activated, possibly because there are already two other active activations. Try Help > Activate... and either it will be successful, or you will get some dialog telling you why it isn't. If it isn't there should be a phone number included that you can call. If it is successful and you continue to get this error, then we'll need to dig deeper.

  • Installing two versions of oracle in a machine

    Hi all,
I would like to ask if i can install both oracle 9i and oracle 10g on Solaris 10 in a Sun sparc machine? and both oracle will need to run its database at the same time.
    Thank you!

i would like to ask if there is any limitation on the SID of the database in both version, can both version's database use the same name and configure to start when the machine start? The SID + the ORACLE_HOME are used together to determine the start of the SGA. ('How' is truly irrelevant other than for intellectual curiosity.)
Using the same SID for multiple instances that run from the same ORACLE_HOME is NOT possible (if they are to be running at the same time). Using the same SID for multiple instances from different ORACLE_HOMEs is not recommended - at some future time, it is possible that the two instances will actually use the same home.
The thing that seems to confuse people is that an instance is actually independent of an ORACLE_HOME. If you have two ORACLE_HOMEs at exactly the same software level, and each with one INSTANCE, you can use the software in either ORACLE_HOME to 'run' both instances. When you upgrade to a new release, you install the software and then tell the software to 'take over' an instance.
The purpose of the ORACLE_HOME is to provide the software for a specific service level agreement (maintenance and patch cycle). Any and all database instances that may follow that same SLA can (should?) be managed from the same ORACLE_HOME.

  • Can I install two versions of NW in the same server?

I have BW installed in a server running on Netweaver 7.3. but I need to install Netweaver 7.02 to do some tests, is it possible to install this other version in the same server? or will there be conflicts after the installation of the second version?
    Thanks in advance,
    Luis.

    HI,
sapinst detects existing instances, and makes sure that you dont use the same instance numbers => same tcp ip ports for diferent sap instances, wich would cause conflits.
so in the limit you can install any number os sap systems on the same host, given you have enought hardware resourses.
    best regards,

  • What is the best way to install two versions of Mac OS?

I am needing to install Tiger alongside Leopard on my computer. I have heard that if I install Tiger on the same HD as Leopard I will have to partition the HD. That would be an enormous pain since I would have to first erase my HD. Would it be ok to just install Tiger on a USB drive? I am only going to use a small amount of space since I will only need to install the OS and a few images files.

Hello, yes, you need either 2 different Partitiopns, or two different drives, but PPC makes don't boot OSX from USB drives as a rule, only Firewire drives.
The small amount of space isn't really true, OSX needs lots of Free Space for it's own use, less so with 10.4 than 10.5 though/
You can install another SATA 1.5 Gb/s compatible drive inside your G5 though quite easily...

  • Installing two versions of Photoshop

    Hello!
I have purchased the Creative Cloud with Master Collection CS6 through my university and want to install it onto my desktop computer. Problem is, I already have Photoshop CS3 on my Desktop and I don't want it overridden if for whatever reason my license does not install or if the education edition runs out or anything like that. Is there a way to install it in another place so that I have both CS3 and CS6 separated so I won't have to worry about both stop working after I am no longer a student? Its really only an issue since I cannot find my CS3 disc any longer so I no longer have the serial number should it screw up.
    Thanks!

Each version installs into its own folder. If you registered with Adobe you can find your serial number in your account. With that number you can download that version from Adobe's website.

  • Can i install two versions of Firefox on one PC?

    Hello,
I have Firefox 27.0.1 Installed on my system. I want to try Firefox 29.0 to see if i like it but i don't want to uninstall 27.0.1. Is there some way i can use both versions?
    Thanks.

Try using the Portable version. It doesn't affect your main installation. It also won't have your bookmarks, but you could import them if you want to use them there.

Of course, for security reasons, you should updated as soon as you can.

  • Installing two language versions of InDesign CC

    Hi,
I'm working on a project that requires Japanese and English in the same document. As the English version of InDesign does not have the same level of typographical support for Asian charactors as the CJK versions, I want to know if I can install two versions of InDesign - Japanese and English - with my Creative Cloud subscription. Any help with this would be much appreciated.
    Steve

    Hi TokyoSteve,
You can have Japanese and English version of InDesign on your machine at the same time and there is no need to uninstall any of the version. It is dependent on the OS language, which InDesign will be launched.
Ex:- You have InDesign Installed in English language on your computer.
Open CC desktop app, change the language to Japanese in the Preferences options
Install InDesign again (it will be in Japanese language)
When you will launch InDesign, it will be in English as you have the OS language set to English. If you change the OS language to Japanese then InDesign (Japanese) will launch.
    Check this :- http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-creative-cloud/installing-multiple-languages-of-a-desktop- application/
Changing the OS langauge may not be the best workaround/Solution to create the multilingual document however it is to state that you can have InDesign or any CC app in multilanguages on your computer.
    Thanks,
    Manish Sharma
