Installing/uninstalling Final Cut Pro X

I've download Final Cut Pro X from the App Store using a redemption code from a Multiuser license purchased by my employer (a university) and installed it on a lab Mac.  How do I legitimately uninstall it and re-install it on another university Mac ?

  • Final Cut Studio Pro 2 Install - Skip Final Cut Pro itself - TT_NEWALREADYI

    Dear All,
I hope you can help. I have just bought a new Macbook Pro 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB RAM, with OS X 10.4.10 running. It came with iLife 08.
I installed Logic Studio 8 (which was successful), and have been trying to install my copy of Final Cut Studio 2. When I run the installation, the options appear for custom install, but FInal Cut Pro, Compressor and QMaster are greyed out, and the action identified for them is "skip. If I rest the mouse over any of the options the text TT_NEWERALREADYINSTALLED appears.
I have tried uninstalling the Logic Studio components with AppZapper, and retrying the install of Final Cut Studio, but no matter what I try to do, it won't install Final Cut Pro.
    Can anybody help?
    Kind Regards,
    Nick.

  • How to uninstall final cut pro 5

How do you do this? I have used app delete to erase the files but it didn't get them all. I know this because when I check for updates it still offers me the final cut pro updates. I have searched around but cant find an uninstaller. Help please.
    Thanks,

Warning - This is a long post.
How to uninstall Final Cut Pro & the other ProApps -
There are two ways to do this. The first requires that you insert the
install discs for each app and go through the following procedure to
    identify the installed files.
    1) Insert the disc and double click the install icon.
    2) Click to let the installer check your system
    3) After the installer opens, click File > Show Files (Command-T)
    4) Click the disclosure triangle next the the app's name to show all the
files installed, then select all of them
    5) Choose Edit > Copy (Command-C)
    6) Open a text editor & paste the list
    7) If you have a printer connected, print
    8) Make sure you delete the file/folder in the exact location indicated
    in the list
    9) Insert the next app's install disc and repeat
The other way involves the Terminal.
    Using Terminal:
    1) In Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder (Shift-Command-G)
    2) Enter the location /Library/Receipts/FinalCurPro.pkg/Contents
    3) Click Go to open the Contents folder
    4) Launch Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
    5) Enter the command lsbom -s (a lower case L, not an upper case i)
lsbom lists each of the files inside the bill of materials. To list only
the folders, the command would be lsbom -d.
    6) Type a space, then drag the Archive.bom file from the Finder window
    to the Terminal window.
    7) Press Return to view the list
    8) Drag to select the list in the Terminal window and choose File > Copy
    (Command-C)
    9) Open a text editor and paste the list into it. Print if you have a
    printer attached.
    10) Guided by the list, delete all the files and folders, being
extremely careful to delete from the exact locations shown in the list.
NOTE: The above comes from the Peachpit book Optimizing Your Final Cut
    Pro System.

  • How do I uninstall Final Cut Pro 5 Suite?

I've never actually tried to uninstall this suite, so I may be overlooking something obvious. I tried opening the install package and looking for an option there, but no luck - and the document on Apple's site that should instruct me on how to do this seems to be missing.
    Does anyone have any tips?

one of the support articles includes these notes:
Another approach you might consider is reinstalling Final Cut Pro. To do this effectively, you need to remove the application and its receipts, then install Final Cut Pro and use Software Update to install additional updates. You don't have to remove everything that was installed with Final Cut Pro. Follow the steps below to completely reinstall a fresh copy of Final Cut Pro. Note: Make sure that you have your installation discs and serial number handy before starting this.
    Open the Applications folder.
Drag the Final Cut Pro application to the Trash.
    Go to /Library/Receipts.
In the Receipts folder, select the "FinalCutPro.pkg" file.
Choose View > as List to view the contents in a list.
Click the Date Modified column header so you can easily see all of the receipts that were installed at the same time as Final Cut Pro.
Drag the FinalCutPro.pkg receipt to the Trash, as well as any other items that have the same modification date within 3 minutes of the FinalCutPro.pkg's modification date.
Click the Name column header to sort the list alphabetically.
Drag any other receipts whose names begin with "Final Cut Pro" to the Trash.
Insert your Final Cut Pro installation disc and install Final Cut Pro.
When finished, use Software Update (under the Apple menu) to update your software to the latest version.
For further information on settings or installation, please refer to the Final Cut Pro documentation available on your installation discs.
    Hope that helps

  • UNINSTALLING FINAL CUT PRO

Can any one tell me how to uninstall Final Cut Pro completely? All my filters and sound loops etc are spread across multiple drives. I wish to start completely fresh and re-install Final Cut placing the loops etc onto one specific drive.
    thanks

Not sure if you can pick a desinated location for the loops. You can simply copy it to new location.
Filters are in one location: library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support
    Just trash it.
Download the 'FCP Rescue' and it will delete some prefs and other files for you. It's also handy to have when FCP crashes and it will restore your prefs.
    Trash the application FCP.
Reinstalling the software will over-write the rest.

  • How do I uninstall final cut pro x?

    Hi there.
Is there a proper way to uninstall Final Cut Pro X, Motion 5, and the new Compressor from my system (10.6.8), or can I just thrash the 3 apps?
I'd also like to make sure to delete the downloaded additional content, and that my Final Cut Studio (FCP 7.0.3, etc) that's also in this computer doesn't get affected.
I searched hi and lo and couldn't find any answer of discussion about it. The manual also doesn't say.
    Thank you.

    Hi there.
I have a way for you to uninstall FCPX, but it may be incomplete (as in it might not delete everything).  Do not use this if you have Final Cut Studio and you want to keep it as this will render it useless and you will have to reinstall.  First delete the program itself.  If you are using a developer preview of Lion follow these steps:
    1. Open Launchpad and find FCPX, Motion 5, and Compressor
    2. Click and hold on the icon, then click the x in the top left corner of the wiggling icon.
    3. Skip down below after the Snow Leopard Part.
    Snow Leopard Steps:
    1.  Find a Mac uninstallation program (Here the one that I use: http://www.freemacsoft.net/AppCleaner/)
    2.  Launch App Cleaner.
    3.  Click on the application folder in your dock and find the 3 apps.
    4.  Drag them into the window that appears when you open App Cleaner.
    5.  Click delete, and then type the administrator password if it asks for one.
    6.  Skip down below.
Remove (I think all) of the additional content:
    1. Click on finder.
    2. Press CMD + Shift + G
    3. Copy and paste this (replacing username with your actuall username): /Users/Username/Library
    4. Look for and delete the Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Compressor folders.
    5. Follow Step 2 above.
    6. Follow Step 3 above except paste this (and don't replace anything): /Library/Application Support
    7. Look for and delete the Final Cut Pro, Motion, and Compressor folders.

  • When you uninstall final cut pro does your projects delete too

When you uninstall final cut pro does your projects delete too

No, only the app is removed.
The Events and Projects are completely untouched and ready to use when you reinstall or update FCP X.
To uninstall simply drag the FCP X application icon to the trash and delete it.

  • Installing multiple final cut pro

Can someone explain how I could successfully install 12 licensed copies of Final Cut Pro on 12 MBPros?  I was wanting to pay for the software by using one iTunes/App Store account.

I don't know anything about the purchase of multiple licenses but once you have downloaded FCP X you can simply copy it across to the other computers as the app is "self-contained" unlike FCP 7.

  • Are the Apple ProRes Codec's already installed in Final Cut Pro X or do I have to download them separately

I am new to Final Cut Pro.  I recently bought Final Cut Pro X.  Enjoying it.  I cannot seem to find anywhere if the Apple ProRes family of codec come included in Final Cut Pro X or do I have to buy and download them separately?
    I have 10.08.5 operating system

That it works in iMovie is irrelevant to FCP. Has nothing to do with ProRes codecs. Absolute crap web site. Zero information about the media these things shoot. Absolute incompetence.
    From their web site:
Depending on what computer system you are operating on - Mac or PC, we can suggest a few video editing software packages:
If you're taking your first steps in video editing, iMovie (iOS) or Sony MoviEZ (windows), will be good options. Both are fairly simple to use, don't require you to convert your files, and are either free or very affordable.
Windows Movie Maker is another free option, but requires you to convert your files to a different format, such as .wmv.
Quicktime pro is the next step, and although it isn't free, it's very affordable.
Sony Vegas Pro (windows), and Adobe Final Cut Pro/Premiere (iOS/windows) are great options at the more professional end of the spectrum. These are fairly expensive, and are most suitable for users with a reasonable level of editing experience.
Say what? Adobe Final Cut Pro?
Maybe if you can open one of these files in the QT player you could get some real information about this media.

  • How do I uninstall Final Cut Pro??

Do I have to do anything else apart from putting the icon in the trash?

Use an application such as AppZapper; Final Cut Pro places a large number of items on the system, and cannot be removed just by throwing the application away.

  • Instal;ling final cut pro version 5.1

Does any one know how to stall Final Cut Studio v 5.1 on a OS X 10.9.2. It was orginally made for a 10.7 or 10.6. when I put the installation disk in it just spits it out without opening or reading anything. please help

When the drive just spits the disc back out, it's a "read" problem. Final Cut Studio v 5.1is a U/B so it should have no problem installing on a new Mac, but only if the disc will remain in the drive.
Does it spit out anything else, or just this one disc?

  • Uninstalling final cut pro HD 4.5

Can anyone tell me how to do this. I have dragged application (including the accompanying software, such as soundtrack etc) to trash and found files manually and deleted them from library. I must not have found all the files as software update still nags me to install FCP updates.
It is too late for me to use AppZapper...has I have already trashed FCP. FCS didn't work either, it did find some files, but not all.

    Update program?
Umm no. could you tell me where I might find it?
Forgive my ignorance. I bought my iMac a few months ago (had PCs before that)

  • How do you uninstall Final Cut Pro 5?

I have found documentation on Apple's site for uninstalling FCP 3, but not 4, nor 4.5 and not 5.
Someone told me that uninstalling FCP 4/4.5 (HD) is the same as uninstally FCP 5, but I haven't really found anything for uninstalling 4/4.5.

  • HT5149 If I uninstall Final Cut Pro X, will I lose my events and projects?

Something went wrong with the compressor and I'm unable to render any videos through any of the share options. I have 10.0.0

The Events and Projects are completely separate from the app so they will be completely safe if you uninstall it.
The easiest way to uninstall completely is to use this excellent free app
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/fcsremover/
You should also be using the latest version  .  .  .  FCP X 10.0.9
